hate to be "that guy", but I had the g3 before and recently bought a flex 2. I tried rooted and stock, factory reset, 2 different phones (I bricked the first one). I finally gave up and bought the galaxy s6. Wow.. HUGE difference! The s6 is nearly perfect. I really wanted to like the flex as much, I loved the curve and the size and the way it fit in my hand. But I LOVE the performance on the s6. Love it. Anyway, just sharing. Lg dropped the ball on this one...

We have seen S6, and it is far from perfect!
I do not believe you could possibly have held and used the s6 and say it isn't closer to perfect that any other phone to date. I'm not a fanboy, I was over Samsung and their lookalike products... But they did anAMAZING job with the s6. You have to accept when a company makes a superior product and this is it.Maybt the g4 will be even better, I would love more competition, but for right now Samsung is doing the damn thing.
Yes. I had flex 2,while waiting for firmware to be fixed, I bought a s6. I will aggressively chase LG to fix my flex2 since I have another phone now.

S6 is better and its true. Ive sold my Flex 2 and...its being returned ffs! I hate its performance. Antutu score is awesone but daily use...crap. I will try to replace it.
Flex 2 could have been great lg dropped the ball. For the people that kept the phone i think if you didn't have problems like most of us its perfectly fine to keep it. I almost loved the phone until all the issues i had. S6 Is nice and the g flex2 . I went the other route and got a note 4 and couldn't be happier.

I totally disagree. I was at the Sprint store and three people returned the S6. The reason bee a lot of "lag" so were people with HTC one 9.
The reason is 5.0, not the hardware, it's draining the battery and causing lag. We are all in the same boat. It's the Qualcom CPU, it heats up, slows the system down.
Some device already has 5.1 and the problems have gone away.

Oh Please
The Lg Flex2 is a classy phone period. The way it feels in your hand and the way it looks, it's beautiful. The S6 is the same old thing, without ingenuity.
Once the Flex2 gets lollipop 5.1, you will back to the Flex2. This a fast, amazing phone, don't even have to root it since it can clear cache and back up to the LG cloud. No need to root.
Amazing phone that people have stopped me to ask me to look at it. The S6, well, same old thing.
Go to XDA S6 website and you will read the complaints.

I beg to differ. If you only did those 2 things with a rooted phone before, then you haven't explored the possibilities of rooting.

I will agree with everything else though.
As for everyone else, I don't have lag issues. And it might be the 3GB of RAM that apparently a lot of other phones don't have. The only issues I REALLY have with this device is battery life. It's about half or less than the first gen. I could play games on the flex for like 10 minutes and still be at 100%. I open my email for 2 minutes on flex 2 and I'm already down to 95%.

Totally agree with you. Beautiful piece of kit, everyone is impressed with the funky display too.. Loving it
Love the Flex2. no chance of damaging phone screen or camera when putting on surface. almost seems like a logical design for me.
easily fits into shirt pocket or back and from jeans pockets.
had note2 and note 1 and just got tired of touchwhiz; could not stomach another samsung although they were very good devices.
I had a v10 G Flex 2. It sucked. I rightly panned it in a magazine review. I had a S6, great camera, overall nice but terrible lag and stalling. Now back on a v15 GF2 and the difference from the original is night and day.
It's quick, smooth, camera is good and while it still gets warm and battery is just average, it's a very likeable phone.
I've spent my own money on a GF2 - they are incredibly good value - and I love the fact it's a bit different.
To caveat all that, the S6 with 5.1 might be a big improvement too...

Lol...Knox doesn't prevent you from doing anything. I've had practically almost every rom and custom Kernel on my note 3 and note 4 .didn't slow me down in the least.

I know Knox doesn't prevent or slow down the device I just didn't like Samsung adding it into their software system. I know I could freeze and delete some Knox crap or whatnot but It shouldn't be force upon us to have it in our devices in the first place.
Every year it's like their always adding something stupid which was one of the reason I switch. I got a nexus 6 which is my first nexus device ever and yea I'm a believer now after experiencing pure vanilla android without the Stutter's and lags and full of bloatwares or useless security apps like Knox.
I have a co worker with the S6 edge and honesty it's ashamed that it's still stutters and lag a bit out the box and it sucks that you have to go through the mission of deleting so much stuff just to get it to run a tad bit smoother. Nexus 6 showed me the real android experience and from now on that's the only devices I'm sticking to.

So this phone was supposed to be the greatest thing since white bread, so I sold my beloved Moto X for this puppy and am regretting it. The only things this has better than the X are the camera and the screen. Other than that it is buggy, lags and has all sorts of issues. I am rooted and have tried everything but I'm at wits end. I think I'm jumping ship anyone else at this point ?
I'm the complete opposite. I am genuinely happy with this device, and i haven't be able to say that in a wile. I was on the Samsung train and had all the Galaxys from the skyrocket-S5, so maybe bc its "different" is why im so happy with it. The data drops and headphone jack issue are the only 2 downers for me right now. On the flip side, the battery is beast and screen size to form factor is perfect for me.
Yes I can agree with the Samsung mess. Only those with the moto can get it , hard to explain how a phone which should be sub par actually makes these other phones seem like poo
I came from a note 3 and i wouldn't jump back......i have no issue with the phone at all.....no lag....no issue with aux....the only minor thing is that it gets warm during heavy gaming.....(but that happens to every phone that i own...)....the other issue is that i can't use ART as my car's bluetooth doesn't like it....but dalvik is fine for me...
took a bit of time debloating all the ATT stuff from the phone....but...there isn't that much to debloat compare to sammy's TW.....
Well I won't go to Samsung its either Motorola or nexus that's it

I've had no issues with this phone. I'm very happy with it. Been trying to find something I don't like but so far nothing. It's fast and my phone is totally lag free. I'm rooted and running ART. Loving this phone.
I'm happy you all are having such a great time but it seems that a majority are not if you just browse this forum
Oook. Mine runs flawlessly....not rooted on ART to boot. Considering complaints tend to be more vocal than kudos, I'd take the "majority" metric with a grain of salt.
Just look at other phones and there threads. I've been a member here for a long time. This phone has issues

Not saying that they don't they're are just a lot of issues on here some which shouldn't be with the big processor
Last year, just about this time, I was using the Optimus G Pro and getting ready for the Note 3 release. The G Pro was in the same boat... root but no boot loader unlock so ROMs, and more importantly, modified kernels, were non-existant.
Seems as soon as the Note 3 released, and I bought one, the bootloader was cracked on the G Pro and the goodies flowed like candy.. :fingers-crossed:
I'll definitely still get the Note 4, but I'll keep my G3 this time.
Its crazy because the only phone I didn't really I want to mess with and get rid of was my moto x everything else even the nexus 5 I wanted out. The only and I mean only reason I switched was better screen. Although now that seems stupid

Well then the X+1 sounds like it just might be the perfect phone for you. Of course we will have to wait and see if the software is as good as the X. If it is, then the larger screen might appeal to you.
Personally I love the G3. I'd love it even more if someone would crack the bootloader, but I'm quite content with it right now.
The X+1 is like Obi wan ....my only hope
Im going to agree, i dont know if its the phone or at&t but its slow. Every time i use data i have to toggle wifi or 4glte to get to wake it seems like. My m8 was great.....
It's a pain really. I mean there are some really great things on this phone while others just make it feel crappy
I came from a Note 3 and I haven't looked back. I have used the Moto X and honestly its terrible in comparison. The screen is awful and its so tiny it hurts my eyes. I have nothing against Motorola, I just don't like the moto x. My G3 isn't laggy at all and overall its much more smooth than my old Note 3 or my wife's S5. The moto I used was smooth, but nowhere near as smooth as my nexus 7. I guess it all comes down to preference and for me I love Mt G3, in fact I've now had the F400S, D850 and my F460 is coming in a few days. It just took a while for me to find the one I wanted and still have qi.
I've always had an android phone. My love relationship with them started with Verizon and the Moto Droid. Needless to say flashing roms and rooting phones is part of the reason I but phones.
I'm not a big fan of the progressive size increase in cell phones, but I owned a fee large phones. My wife got and iphone 6 dividing our house a few months ago and while I would not get an iPhone, I marvelled at how is was small and manageable. Yet able to perform any task and take great pictures.
So I sold MY white LG g3 to get a blue 64gb S6. I rooted it immediately and it was quite impressive. It offered all of the things I like about the iPhone 6 and a great fingerprint scanner. I have two young boys and a selfish obsessed wife and the cameras on this phone are great. So great my wife takes pictures with my phone when we are out.
One day I decide I want a white S6. So I purchased one on Swappa.com and sold mine there as well. I confirmed that it still had a root able version of lollipop, but when I get the phone the seller upgraded the phone the day he shipped it. So I tried to rock with the unrootable S6 checking everyday to see if OF1 version of lollipop had been rooted. I hated the phone. For anyone that is stuck with a S6 on stock OF1, I understand your pain. In my opinion Samsung is losing money because of restrictions on the stock version of this phone. So I'm currently selling that phone on Swappa.com for reasonable price.
I went and purchased a gold 64gb S6 and it came rooted and the feel if the phone is night and day. The speed it just how I remember the phone a drunken my battery life is sick. With stock OF1 I would only average 11-14 hours with maybe 2-3 hours of screen time. This is my first day with the rooted s6 and I'm currently at 11 hours and 2 hours of screen time with a few restarts to flash different themed items and I still have over 40% of battery life left.
My recommendation is that of you love the form factor of this phone and everything else it has to offer and you are stuck on OF1 version of lollipop, sell your phone to get a root able version of the s6. You will practically break even with the swap.

I've been thinking of selling my rooted S6 so I can leave Verizon. I didn't see any other White 64GB S6s that were rooted on Swappa so I wonder if there's a decent demand.
I love almost e everything about the phone and it is rooted the biggest main issue i have is it lags alot for me. Yes i have a decent amount of apps but my m8 is set up exactly the same and it doesn't lag at all even with just 2 gigs of ram. And my other issues which this is mainly because of verizon is development is almost not there. I am grateful for the roms we do have but it still takes away from the phone for me somewhat.

I HATE my s6. The cell reception is fine, I'm lucky enough to be rooted as well, but this thing is junk IMO. Don't get me wrong, the camera is ok and it was the primary reason to get this phone. I use it daily for pictures and it performs pretty well actually. The fingerprint reader works pretty fast most of the time as well, but I would absolutely 100% not buy this phone again or recommend it to anyone else. Even during pictures this thing is hot and battery life is unimpressive. Yes wireless charging is included, but once again super hot while charging as well.
Battery life got much better after root and the screen is amazing, but I'm jumping ship here in a few months, I actually consider it a downgrade from my LG G2 except for the camera
I miss my HTC ONE M8. Totally rootable, totally customizable. Love the specs on the S6, but Verizon is making a huge mistake locking their phones down. It's the antithesis of Android, Linux, and open source in general.

Yea I guess I should of clarified on that one, it was a long day
-The lack of a removable battery is a killer. My battery drain is pretty serious and needs charging throughout the day. Eventually I will need to swap that battery....
-My two S6s have both lagged from day 1. Removing bloatware helped but still laggy. Have to clear our app caches once a week or so.
-The camera lens is elevated from the back of the phone and makes it not lay flat well. Not a biggie, but annoying.
-Touchwiz.... I hoped we would have CM by now or something close but its a big setback.
Most of the other issues I have are software related and would be fine when/if we can unlock the bootloader. I've come to learn over the years that a waterproof phone is a big advantage here in Florida too, my gf's old S5 was actually just used during the last flood we had and was great. I guess I agree with the OP, it is a love/hate, just mine is more hate than love.

I agree with the camera lens. I like cases but hate that I need a case to protect that.
My battery gets me through and average day. But that is always a user experience. I can see how it wouldn't be enough for many users.
I've never hated it but there are days where I am less impressed than others. Where TouchWiz shows its ugly side. Hopefully whenever you get next works out better for you

Yea it seems so I'm only stuck with it for a few more months and the gf and I are both bailing. Its a shame too because these phones are damn sexy too lol. Right now I'm stocked up on wireless chargers and have them strategically placed around work and home and it seems to be working out ok. Its not too terrible since there are no plugs to charge.
Came from a rooted s4 with xposed to the g6 and I feel lost. The g6 gets good battery life and works just fine but I am having major Bluetooth issues between that and sync for my car that I never had with the s4. I will do better research before making my next purchase. I don't care how good the camera is etc... If the boot loader is locked down I will purchase a different phone. Not everyone wants to use samsungs bloat ware. Also if I want to turn the volume up and blow my ear drums out I don't need a visible warning to appear telling me I might do that....I can hear just fine Samsung....

I'm pretty sure the BT is a known issue. Does anyone know if the update fixes that? I know I cant get more than 5m or so from my phone before it cuts out. I used to get almost double that with my G2. I agree with you on the headphones warning too lol. Almost as bad is the Verizon crap it tries to install each time you hook it up to a computer. I flashed the fix but it sure was annoying waiting on root first. Guess we can blame V for the bloatware too.
I have had my Verizon Note 5 for 9 days now. I really want to love it. Like a wayward child I want to hold it and tell it everything will be ok. I want to look at its beautiful face and ignore the behavioral issues.
But I just can't.
I have had every note since Note 2 (and Note 2 with unlocked BL is STILL my daily driver.)
But with the note 5 i just cant get over everything that makes it a non note
I have been told that USB-otg works, but I mainly used the Samsung multimedia doc (from note 2) that allowed keyboard and mouse, charging and HDMI out.
The LG v10 seems like a step in the right direction... if only it weren't so blasted ugly!
Those of you who have had the phone longer... help me get out of my funk! cus as of right now this thing is getting returned in 3 days.
If you don't like it, return it. No one here needs to convince you of anything.
The is no right or wrong. To me the stylus makes it a Note, and I'm ok with the features. If you're not, that's ok - return the phone.
It is a lot of money if you aren't happy with it.
For me the V10 was too darn big. But that's me, you might be fine with it.

The note 5 is a damn good phone. I've had mines since it came out. If u what a unlocked boot loader then return ur note 5 and buy one from Samsung. Yes I would love to have a unlocked boot loader but we all know how vzw is.The s-pen makes it a note not the boot loader being unlocked. The size makes it a note as well. There is to much good that out weigh the bad. Love my note 5 for now.

Honestly, I have had my Note 5 since launch day and minus a few issues (on Verizon's end, NOT Samsung's), I love it. It does everything I need it to do plus more. I really love the S-Pen and the rapid charging. Battery life is fine with me (if you honestly don't have an external battery charger, wall charger, or car charger then you shouldn't have a high end device). The picture quality is unbelievable, etc. Honestly, to me, the Note 5 is on top of the food chain but this is your preference and your decision. If you're note happy with it, then return it and get another phone that you're happy with (that's the beauty of a 15 day return policy, haha). Don't spend a ton of money and settle for a phone that isn't meeting your needs. There's no right or wrong answer on purchasing a device.
I'm a longtime HTC fanboy (I just dig the aesthetic of Sense and HTC's general skinning) and have always hated TouchWiz. However, now that you can do some base themeing, it's a better experience.
At the end of the day, Samsung Pay is pretty damned awesome. That alone will keep me on the N5 for a long while.
This was my feedback to samsung on the note 5. Not that they'll consider it, but nonetheless, I feel the same way.
I previously had a note 3, and absolutely loved it. It was the perfect phone for a power user. But time passed and it was time to upgrade and I figured I'd try the note 5. I'm regretting that decision more by the day. Honestly, if I could replace the battery, root it, and it had an ir blaster, it would be my new perfect phone. Nevermind it didn't get the spec bump this year - it's fast enough really. The phone is pretty, but a phone is a functional device first and accessory second.
I thought I could handle not having a replaceable battery - I was wrong. I'm on the road a lot and being able to replace the battery is invaluable. 3000 mah isn't cutting it.
I need to be able to modify the software if I want. I don't feel like I own my phone, and I resent it more the longer I think about it. I realize there are other options but, honestly, I really do like samsung phones. And I want to like this one.
I loved being able to control my entire htpc from my phone. I'm probably still a bit of a niche user in this regard, but why remove the ir blaster?
Bottom line, I'm going to have to sell this phone and get a Note 4, and hope you guys get it right next time. This one was a total miss for me. I wanted a newer note - you gave me a blown up S6 with a stylus.

Thais is exactly how I feel about the Note 5. I've upgraded, heck, pre-ordered two Note 3 and two Note 4, but I didn't upgrade to the Note 5. I just felt so under whelmed, plus the fact that it can't be rooted just sucks. It's a huge let down considering I have a Note 4 Developer Edition.
Ultimately I went with the Nexus 6P. I'm really liking it so far, and the more I use it, the more I can't justify the $200 price premium of the Note 5.

I've had many phones over the past year and settled with the Note 5. Although it's locked and unrootable I still chose it because I can do everything I liked to do on a rooted phone and more. No I can't physically remove unwanted system apps but I can hide and disable them with package disabler or the debloat tool. Removing them matters little because you can't make the system partition smaller to use the space anyways. The size is fixed. As for the IR blaster I never used it much and always ended up disabling it. The s-pen works the best out of all the note series I have used going back to the Note 3. If anyone is thinking about purchasing this phone or any other I suggest that you do your research before doing so. I had the S6 before this and loved it but always wished it was a bit larger and had the s-pen. So when the Note 5 came out I jumped on it and have been happy since day one. Yes root and a unlocked bootloader would be nice but I'm not about to switch to a inferior phone or carrier for that. It's just not worth it to me.
My Note 5 performs flawlessly
Just got the hotspot working. Started a VPN connection, then fired up foxfi free edition. Foxfi uses it's own vpn, so it disconnected mine. When foxfi timed out, hotspot stayed up. Not sure why, but it's working through the native tether. No VPN is connected now (full speed connection).
I like it, somewhat. I waited until I could find the right price. $400 on Craigslist. All set up and good to go. I don't like the size, it's too narrow for my hands. It is snappy and responsive. The camera is nice. I do groan a lot, missing things like the IR blaster and removable SD card. It's a nightmare to load everything on here and I dread the impending factory resets. But it's good enough, I guess.
I could have been more impressed though. Samsung set the bar way too high with the Note4 and Edge advancements they made when they released them. They have done no such thing on the Note5 though.
I don't really have complaints, so to speak. But it really could have been more innovative, as past Notes have been. It is still great. I do like it. But my expectations have not been exceeded as they always have been in the past with Samsung.

Agree. If it wasn't for Samsung pay I would've actually ditched this phone and went another route.

It's been over 2 weeks, and I'm still not fully in love with this phone. But, I'm loving the really nice screen and camera. Cause I vid chat with my girlfriend, play retro snes games and watched alot of HD tv shows from my DVR.
Would be nice if the note had the same curved edges as the edge plus. But then again, I prefer the curved back more because its easier to hold. Im sure they could have pulled off both if they really wanted to. However that would be one less change they can make make for the note 6 next year.

Awesome. I barely pull out my wallet. It's just convient. Will see how long it takes for more supported banks, but by first quarter next year I'd things haven't picked up, I'll probably ditch my note.

I'm torn between the Turbo 2 and the S6. My default position is the Turbo 2, 'cause I've been using Motorola since the Droid 1 (D1, Razr and Gen1 Moto X), but the company has changed a lot since then and Lenovo has been less than impressive so far.
I like the look (been messing with motomaker a lot) and feel of the Turbo2, and shatterproof display is very nice since I've been using a Moto X with a cracked screen for a couple months. However, the locked bootloader coupled with Moto's slow rollout of updates in the last couple years is kinda a downside. Granted I've run stock on my Moto X for 2 years, but still, I thought the whole locked down phone things was just a phase. Doesn't seem to be much dev activity in regard to the Turbo 2 so far. I'm also pretty bummed there's no one hand mode like LG and Samsung have.
The S6 is a pretty good phone too, and is nicely open to dev/mod community. I don't like touchwiz, but seems like it can be removed with out too much of a hassle. And my tiny hands really like the idea of one hand mode. I don't like the feel of the S6, it just feels kinda cheap, plus it doesn't have shatterproof glass, and I hate cell phone cases.
Basically, I want the Turbo 2 hardware with some/most of the OS/software of the S6.
With the Turbo 2 community being pretty small, I thought I'd get some input from S6 owners

Please be aware that the S6 has a locked bootloader as well, and no root capability after OE3(?), so unless you get a model that's been sitting on the shelf and stop it from updating, there is no opportunity to root. It is very easy to use another launcher if you don't TW. I don't think that it feels cheap at all, but slippery is another matter. I won't use mine w/o a case.

So all the custom roms and root stuff I see here is for people with older phones and i won't be able to root a new one from the store? Well I guess that tilts things into the Turbos favor.
I'd get a Dev to verify, but from everything I've seen on these forums, that is the case. If it is still on 5.02 out of the box you can root it, but once it gets 5.1 you are done.
My wife has the S6 and is very happy with it. A great display and a petty good camera. She just uses it, and could care less about the specs. I just got the Turbo 2, coming from the Turbo 1. I especially like the Moto apps like Moto Voice, Actions, Display and Assist. I can't imagine owning anything else.

To root the S6 you need to be on build OE3? or earlier. Once you get to OF1 you are screwed. Your best bet at getting an S6 with an old enough build would be a 128gb model. I have a 128gb one myself and it came with OC3 out of the box, so I rooted right away and froze updates so now I'm good.

I did that too. I bought a 128gb verizon s6 on ebay. when it arrived I didn't activate it on verizonwireless and instead hooked it up to wifi and set the phone up including root with pingpongroot. That blocked it from updating and now I'm happily 'stuck' with OC3 until I choose.
Well, it was time to make a decision since the Bootloader is locked; TMobile and Samsung obviously will not engage on this endeavor. Samsung Pay is their baby, and it is my money and desire for freedom.
I have just printed out my shipping label, and headed to the UPS Store to send my SGS7 EDGE back to TMobile.
I will purchase the LG G5 on the 29, get a free battery and cradle changer.........or the free 360 camera thingy they're also making as a free option.
Good luck to the guys and gals working on root. Samsung just lost a customer!
Such a gorgeous device to go to waste. Why didn't you keep the s7 edge as your "go out phone" and buy a Nexus if you want an unlocked bootloader with ALOT of roms. I mean I still have my note 4 that I returned to stock or I can root again....do I need to?? Naaah, sometimes lol.but seriously I would have kept the note 4 and buy a stock Android as my rooted device and the Galaxy as the secure "go-out" device....

Odds are this will be the new norm. Tmobile was the last man standing on bootloader and now they fall too. I imagine the g5 will be locked also. It sucks, I was so excited to try aosp on this phone too.

And again, more disappointment. Another phone with a locked bootloader! I spoke to LG and T-mobile tech support. Of course they both are playing the blame game on one another but bottom line is is that the LG G5 will be locked down just like the Samsung S7. I was told we would have to wait to see if an unlock option comes out down the road like the G4 had. What another let down....

I'm very confident that as with the LG G4, LG again will provide the bootloader unlock for DEVs via their Lge.com website. LG gets it. Samsung doesn't.
I also believe it's going to be LG's time to shine. If LG does right by LG G5 owners, Samsung will see a great amount of otherwise loyal customers flock to LG. It would be a great business move.

So your telling me a lot of people will opt for an ugly modular phone that's missing many of the s7 features just because you want root? I guess, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Trust me.
..a lot of people don't care about root anymore...I'm one of them...do I want to? Yes, everyone does. Do I personally absolutely NEED IT, enough to give up on this phone that's everything we wanted from samsung? No thanks [emoji106] [emoji2] [emoji2]

I have been a devout member of the rooting community since the G1 days. I have a 6P, but frankly I have been using this device since release day and I am beyond happy with it. Touchwiz has dramatically improved even from the S6 era Lollipop builds. The hardware is beautiful and powerful. Excepting the ability to fully uninstall bloat. I am personally very happy with the S7 Edge : )

Some of you guys are killing me when it comes to saying that the LG G5 is ugly. It's not an ugly phone at all. I must admit it doesn't look as nice as having a two-sided glass body but at the end of the day you and I as well as other people making purchases of smartphones will most likely keep our phones in a case. As such it does not matter what the form looks like as long as you can see the screen.
As far as features are concerned I would be hard-pressed to say that the LG G5 is a handicap phone in features when compared to the Galaxy S 7.
In fact there are technical details that the LG G5 have that the Samsung Galaxy S7 does not such as USB 3.0 fast charge 3.0 USB type-c as well as other features such as the most excellent manual mode of their camera. Not to mention the wide-angle photo shops. And if you don't like the modular friends well that's just a matter of opinion because those friends do serve a purpose. Another feature that I love on the LG G5 the fact that they're always on notification screen can be used with all apps not just couple like on the Galaxy S 7. I think you really need to read around to get all the details on the LG G5. you're overly claiming that the S7 is superior when in fact it's really not. To me the only thing that I really shows us a great advantage on is being water resistant.
LG has also provided an unlock bootloader website for the G4, so I see this again happening with the G5.

The LG g5 is ugly when you compare it to the s7 edge, the phone itself is not too bad. But we DO have manual mode, it's called "Pro" mode under your camera ....and we also do have 180° photos. I mean geez samsung came up with that too. And LG friends. Dude there selling you a 650$ phone, with "friends" that cost upwards of 80$. True story. And that's for the battery [emoji24] [emoji24] . Not to mention the Galaxy s7 edge already has a big battery, way better camera than the LG g5 i mean it is the best camera on a smartphone. Water resistant, Vulkan API? PSft. VR (the LG vr don't hook up to your phone I beleave) we got the ever so great super AMOLED display. Built in wireless charging yada yada yada...I can go a long time talking about the features, but in sure you know them...
So yeah galaxy s7 is superior. In every test, land(dust) air or sea( water resistant) [emoji13] you guys just want LG because you THINK they will not have there bootloaders locked, in Wich case that's cool. But I'll keep my beastly s7 and buy a Nexus for rooting and stuff. I'm not downgrading to the G5. The world isn't ready for modular phones ..and geez $80 for and battery? Haha in wonder how much there most intriguing "friend" will cost...(B&O audio)

Battery? Come on. Let's not act as if we don't prefer a removable battery. Besides, the phones come with a free spare battery and cradle changer. A TMobile rep told me their also giving away a free 360 cam as an option in lieu of a battery.
AMOLED screen, yes it's very nice, but not a game winning feature for all.
Wireless charge, THAT is cool.
VR using the phone, I could care less for. Not into that which is why I didn't request it.
Now, as a heavy data transfer guy I most certainly prefer USB 3.0. And Fast Charge 3.0. Samsung screwed that up with electing to use 2.0 versions for their USB and charging. Be real.
As for the world not ready for a modular phone????That's nonsensical. The world at one point was not ready for a touch screen phone but look where we are now. The world was not ready to give up blackberries but look where we are now. The world was not ready to give up the iPhone but look where we are now.
For my use, I made a mistake even choosing the S7 but the hype and buy one get one free promotion got me.
At the end of the day we should all see what's what when the G5 is finally released.

I DO prefer a removable battery lol I have two for my note 4 buy it don't use it. And that's cool lol the least they can do is give people some free stuff like samsung did. It's only right. And I didn't like VR back in the stage I left with the note 4s "innovator edition" it had little apps and it got old quick, however now we have netflix/Hulu in oculus store along with other great apps/games and experience. I will say this version is much better than the innovator edition I had for my note 4. VR aside.
I do like usb 3.0 but didn't we have that with the note 3?? And I agree samsung screwed us for not supporting fast charge 3.0. But that's because they don't need too, maybe lol. Like I said the LG g5 is not a bead phone, but it's obvious as of now this bad boy is sitting at the top of the pyramid. Google has been inventing the modular phone for along time now and they aren't taking the risk yet because it's not ready....at least LG took one for the team. There both great phones though. It's all about preference ??

you guys are mad funny trying to defend the s7 without root. it blows. very underwhelming. returned it on my 13th day. my 6p is faster and more fluid than the s7 with the sd820. i reallly dont know how they could make the phone lag with that much processing power, but congrats samsung, you did it. as far as t-mobile being the 'last man standing' as far as unlocked bootloaders go.. did you forget about sprint? every phone that has ever come out unlocked on t-mobile has been unlocked on sprint. sprint doesnt give af. i could care less about the g5. htc m10 is where its gonna be, same specs as s7 and the rest, except they probably wont gimp the processor like samsung.. and guaranteed bootloader unlock-able through htc.dev. not to mention they went back to the capacitive buttons, ditched the giant black bar, home button/fingerprint scanner.. yea they ditched the dual stereo speakers on front, but boomsound will still be there, and i wouldnt be surprised if the earpiece is a media speaker itself. most likely a better camera, win win win win. the s7 will outsell it by leaps and bounds, doesnt mean shiz though, just sheep flocking to the new iphone. the m10 will get crazy dev support. win win win win

Yeah, they are saying it will have a game-changing camera--just like they did with the M7, M8, M9... Every Sammy flagship comes with a great camera no exceptions. And doing SuperAMOLED then going back to LCD is pretty meh IMO.
And we'll see about that bootloader when the M10 comes out. Word has it that the G5 will be locked down like the S7/S7E. This is starting to look like a common feature with the SD820.
I might have to wait for the M10 too LOL

So your telling me a lot of people will opt for an ugly modular phone that's missing many of the s7 features just because you want root? I guess, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Trust me.
..a lot of people don't care about root anymore...I'm one of them...do I want to? Yes, everyone does. Do I personally absolutely NEED IT, enough to give up on this phone that's everything we wanted from samsung? No thanks [emoji106] [emoji2] [emoji2]

Truest statement yet. I'd take root Yes! Want root Yes!
But i know how to modify it enough ways for my liking without root needed using other methods and similar No root needed apps.
To good of a phone to let go .
BTW I had bashed this device from day 1 once first time around .
And I apologize to the s7 for that and the forum. Already repurchased a 2nd and learning to live without root, kinda tough like not smoking something we can learn to live with .

Only shaky things with the m10 are battery life and s-off. If they get the battery life right and s-off is achieved the phone will be a winner, maybe. The m9 didn't quite get nearly as much development as the m8. I'm itching to get xposed and root so bad... I really want to fix some of the ugly and get my media gestures back. The edge is nice but the phone can get chuggy here and there and with Samsung seemingly more invested in the exynos version it might be a good idea for me to get the 10 or wait for the Nexus.

Not to go against u but here was my experience with both. I. Really waanted to retur. The galaxy s7 edge and keep my nexus 6p. Which was rooted, stock rom, custom kernel. Was smooth and fast.
I receive my gs7 edge and the nexus 6p was not faster but smoother in alot of occasions. Was noticably slower. After a few days of switch sim from one phone to another i did like the galaxy s7 edge but didnt like the color gold. I went to the store and exchanged it for a black. Started doing the testing again of using both phone cause i still had a few days to return the gs7 edge if there was something i didnt like.
Im not sure if my gold was a lemon version cause i couldnt compare to amything else but the black version i got is much better in speed and lag. This flys and butter smooth MUCH MORE SMOOTHER lag free than the nexus 6p. I for one are not into custom room, thr most important thing for me is getting better battety life with my nexus 6p i was able tl jump from 4 sot to 6sot with a different kernel. I get 10sot with my gs7 edge nom root. My i root for adaway, and i do love the samsung browser let me install adblocker. No ad anymore.
Nexus 6p amazing phone, still have it but im not using it. In speed and lag tge nexus 6p even with stock android cannot compare to the smoothnes and speed of the galaxy s7 edge.
I've been a avid rooter since the tmobile wing days. And having the s7 edge for just about a month so far, I don't have the itch to want to root it like I usually do. It's a really nice phone inside and out.
