No lag in lollipop
Just Solved
Change this line in build.prop
Dalvik.vm.heapsize =560m
Increase speed and no lag lollipop
battery equilibry ?
Did you forget a "m"? 560m instead of 560?
560m sorry
Any feedback please??
I just copied it from the site:
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize size when first launch
dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit limit of standard app
dalvik.vm.heapsize heap for large app
increasing heapsize can improve performance because app can used more memory to unpacking resources.
reducing heapsize may improve multitasking experience. however, in some cases, large applications such as gaming, the performance can be more severe. while app nowadays is using larger resources (hd images,audio etc), which would force it to run garbage collection frequently, which would use up CPU cycles and reducing battery life as well.

I don`t see any difference on S4 LTE-A to be honest.
Will report back after days of use.
Don't worry~

I can't say much because my Gt-i9505 didn't lag before changing the heapsize, sorry about that :/
There is a definite improvement, great work.
Two days for battery stable?
Oh! Thanks A Lot. I Can Feel Difference In An Instance.
Thanks For This Piece Of Knowledge.

yes, pretty stable and smooth i think. i have edited these values for a snappier responsiveness.
you can try it by yourself, and for undoing the changes, simply delete this lines from build.prop.

That I, true I think, setting it to 2 does as well. But inspire's problem is its set to 1 stock which caps upload speed.

You know there are duplicate fields in the stock build.prop. One entry is "2", the other one says "3". The way I understand it the one that says 2 overrides the one that says 3 due to placement in the file....it's a goofy quirk of the stock build.prop. I don't think anyone knows why there are these duplicate fields with different values.

2 and 3 work the same. The stock ROM is set to 2, even though there is a duplicate entry further down the build.prop set to 3. As meiguoguizi said, when there are duplicate values, the top value wins. I have confirmed this by playing around with the duplicate hsxpa entries and checking the "P" or "U" in the radio version.

Interesting. There must be different versions of "stock" floating around. The attn1 updated rooted stock ROM and the supposed new GB leaked ROM had these settings at the top:
ro.ril.enable.a53=1
ro.ril.enable.dtm=0
ro.ril.gprsclass=10
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=10
ro.ril.hsupa.category=6
ro.ril.hsxpa=2

ro.ril.att.feature=1
ro.ril.radio.svn=3

ro.ril.enable.sdr=0
ro.ril.enable.gea3=1
ro.ril.enable.ucsq=2

nice!
by why was your screen not that responsive in the first place?
if you use the ondemand governor, and set the sampling rate to 15000 and up threshold to 98, ui gets a speed boost.

Sometimes I would have to tap twice on an icon to get it open.. Could be that I was taping too quick before the page could load? idk. But it seems better now. It wasn't thaaaat bad though.
data speed tweaks have got me nothing . maybe worse sometimes
I've taken the liberty to root my GS4 and have some time spent on tweaking kernel parameters.
For these settings you need to be rooted and have downloaded a kernel tweaking app, such as Trickster Mod.
I believe these settings should make some pretty significant changes to your experience.
Follow the screenshots for the configurations:

Still testing. I am charging the device now and I'll report later but i'm guessing hardly anything noticeable.
Thanks for the post!
I am however curious about the use of ZRAM as this phone should easily have enough built in RAM to where that is not needed..
ZRAM generally gets used when a system is RAM deficient.. ZRAM will also be noticeably slower than using the built in RAM as well...
Looking forward to you reporting back..

I think you may be confused about ZRAM.
ZRAM is used for swapspace instead of placing the swap on the "disk" it is placed in RAM for a performance boost.

I don't think I am confused... Why use swap space for RAM when this phone already has plenty?
Then again, I may be confused..

I believe you have to set the CPU governor to interactive, apply by pressing the check at the top right, then going into governor control at the bottom.

This mod has reduced stutter and sputter by like 90% on my device. Will keep pushing it.
Thanks. Really seems to help alot on mine. I did leave the min cpu at default speed though.:thumbup:
Only downside is that after reboot you have to change the settings again.

Indeed. Just hit the menu capacitive button to get to the menu pictured below:
Your menu looks so different in terms of the interactive controls... I have none of those values or menus but an even longer list.
Why does your say you have power savings enabled? Why not turn power savings completely off? I still run my galaxy for like 2 days with Music playing like an 8 hour day.
Been running this since last night..
I am not really noticing any difference but will keep testing..
Disclaimer:
I already had 101 apps / processes frozen, animations set to zero, force GPU enabled and am using a different launcher. I think most, if not all, of my lag was done away with by doing that..

On the general settings, after you've selected interactive you have to hit the check mark on upper right. Then click governor control at the bottom, you should see the interactive settings.
Cant wait to find out what settings gives best battery life and performance.
Yeah. Gotta keep hitting that check mark or nothing takes.

Yesterday, I noticed an improvement under low light conditions, by switching over to mdp composition type, instead of c2d, without needing picture stabilization.
Here's a preview of my build.prop setup with MDP (mobile display processor) active.
Code:
debug.sf.hw=1
debug.sf.swaprect=1
ro.sf.compbypass.enable=0
debug.egl.hw=1
debug.egl.buffcount=4
debug.gr.swapinterval=0
debug.composition.type=mdp
persist.hwc.mdpcomp.enable=true
persist.sys.composition.type=mdp
debug.mdpcomp.maxlayer=0
debug.disable.bwc=1
debug.mdpcomp.logs=0
debug.mdpcomp.maxpermixer=-1
debug.mdpcomp.mixedmode.disable=1
debug.mdpcomp.idletime=0
debug.qctwa.preservebuf=1
debug.qctwa.statusbar=1
com.qc.hardware=1
debug.qc.hardware=1
dalvik.vm.heapsize=36m
debug.hwc.dynThreshold=1.5
dev.pm.dyn_samplingrate=1
dev.pm.dyn_sample_period=500000
persist.demo.hdmirotationlock=false
The attachments below show the improvement.
Impressive Quadrant Score
I've also gotten 25000+ consistently with this modification. I'm a photographer, so I'm very happy with the Galaxy S5's performance now. I do a lot of multimedia multitasking on the go and at times the phone lagged pretty bad. The battery has improved as well. Here are a few more build.prop modifications I'm using that may contribute to the camera and system performance.
Code:
ro.hwui.panel_bit_depth=32
hwui.use_gpu_pixel_buffers=true
dalvik.vm.verify-bytecode=false
dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags=v=n,m=y,o=v
Here's my Quadrant score screenshot. ☺
