Takes forever to open MMS photo in Samsung Messages - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone noticed it takes like 8 seconds to open a MMS in the default Samsung messages app? In Google messenger app from play store, its instant. Wanted to see if anyone is experiencing what I am.
Also, anyway to hide the group conversation check box? I get it, we need to convert to MMS, but wish they just hid that line since its really annoying in the Messages app. I want to give it a shot before I disable the app and go to Google Messenger.
Also anyway to hide the subject line in a group MMS chat as well! Thanks!

Yes. What the hell is causing that?

You can try:
1. Press left key beside home button and close all apps.
2. Use an app like app cache cleaner (Playstore downloadable) and clean you app cache.
3. Go to recovery mode and wipe cache.
I hope this helps.

Open Settings, Applications, Manage Applications. Press the Menu button and choose Filters, then All. Look thru the list for Gmail and click it. Clear the cache and data. Do the same to Gmail Storage. Then try again.

[Q] Google Mail isn't that good - any way to improve it?

While I think the Google Mail app is ALRIGHT I think it needs quite some improvement so I am wondering if there is either a good alternative to it or if someone added features to it / modded it.
1) problem:
i can't select any text from any emails (written by others or myself) which isn't too great when writing emails.
is there any app for selecting text maybe? it's something i miss a lot on android. if i want to select text on a website I need to switch to Skyfire.
I just can't believe coding a text selection is really hard so I don't understand why google didn't add it themselves yet.
2) problem:
when I'm on the go and sending an email and the CONNECTION dies for a moment the Google Mail app will be stuck at "Sending..."
I guess it is stuck in a loop then and it won't send out my email but I also can't go back so I can only close Google Mail with a taskmanager.
Can't this be fixed, too?
I just want a GO BACK feature so that it won't get stuck in a loop. Maybe just an automatic Save Draft just when someone clicks Send and then goes to the Send process and then you get the option to force close that and just go back- I dont know.
not sure what phone you have or what apps come standard so.....
i dont use the gmail app period. turned off notifications and disabled gmail sync in the sync menu. I use the regular Mail app that came standard (HTC Hero) for all 3 of my email accounts, yahoo, gmail, and hotmail. never have any problems out of it.
EDIT: Mail app will select text and if connection dies when sending mail, it will pick up where it left off when the next scheduled sync takes place.

I too use the default mail app (this time CM6 on a nexus1), but if you don't like that one you might want to check out K9 Mail. I think its free from the market (or various places online if you don't have access/market enabler).

I'm not getting instant notifications either. Chat will come up, but nothing in the realm of push notifications. tested sending from from my wifes account to mine.
chat works great, push notifications doesn't work. still have to check app just for the notifications :/
Great for letting us know
Okay, a question about chat since I've never had it before through Facebook. How is your online status "toggled" while using chat?
So if I open up the facebook app, and look at my news feed, am I now online? And to go offline, do I physically have to go into facebook chat and click "go offline"?
Also, if I want to be on chat, but have it run in the background, how can I confirm that it's running?
The entire user interface seems very poor. Wouldn't the ability to toggle chat on/off and easily access conversations and your status from the notification bar be essential in this type of app?
notifications works fine for me... kinda odd though since the messages and other stuffs still uses interval... only the posts and such has push.

According to the Facebook page of Facebook for android, push notifications is only supported with android 2.2+

Yeah, I see that. But there's no "Go online" option, is there? So how do you ever know if your online or offline? I don't know, I'm used to Go!Chat. There should be some clear toggle option.
How about for people that never want to appear online?
For example, I just opened up facebook on my phone and hit chat. I guess I'm now online? So now I hit android home. Am I still online? How is there anyway of knowing? Online until when?
It's completely non-functional as a useful mobile chat app.
[edit]
I've also tried multiple times to close "active conversations", and they keep showing back up on all refreshes. I was looking forward to native facebook chat, but I'll stick with 3rd party apps until they can improve this.
Chat and Push both are working flawlessly on my Droid 2. Rooted but running a pretty much stock OS.
About time they got this one out. Was doing this with a blackberry almost 2 years ago. I am now able to remove about 4 apps that I was running in order to cover my FB account while mobile.
Nice work Devs!
Push notification working good on my evo. I was also using f plus and had it set for five minutes and I'm getting notification quicker with the official app
I download it from market but installation failed. Did I do anything wrong or it is caused by android build on HTC HD2?
Long conversations
And still it is not possible to have long conversations. Quite annoying

Google Voice with Stock Messaging Application?

Has anyone had any luck getting Google Voice to work with the stock messing application on the G2X? On my other devices I would just go into Application settings and clear defaults. Then when I launched the messing application it would ask if I wanted to use Google Voice or the stock application. The problem I am having is that on the G2X it is not giving me the option to clear defaults. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
What exactly are you trying to do? Get GV messages to show up in Messaging?
Try sending a message to a contact and see if it gives you an option to set a default application.
just clear data and cache for the messenger app in app manager
Yes, after I clear data in the messaging app I go to send a text but it doesn't give me any option to choose which messaging application I want to use. I am trying to use google voice with the stock messing application.
Try reinstalling the gv app. It did that to me too.

Random apps starting or opening in backround

I have problem with my s6. I dont know why its opening itself of random apps like email app not gmail, find my phone, google play games, voice recorder. I dont opened . I used when lock phone like messenger ,fb, snapchat, i closed the apps - closed all in recent app button. And thats weird when phone shutting down or power off, and when turned on i see apps opened by itself like clock, find my phone in settings which i dont run when it booted phone. Why my s6 doing like that? I tried factory reset and wipe cache. Dont help!!! Doesnt matter when power off or lock button still opened in recent apps random programs.
That's the way it's supposed to be. It's always like that, for everyone.
Some apps are supposed to stay open, for various reasons. Some like Find My Phone for security reasons, others like Play Games for (supposedly) convenience, Clock for alarms and stuff like that, and then there's apps that sync - all messaging type apps (like Messenger, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Email, Gmail, ...).
There are ways to make them stop, like denying them the permission to run in the background, or using Greenify and using it to cut-off app wake-ups. But then... it probably won't be a very nice experience. For one, you wouldn't get messages on Messenger/Snapchat/etc until you open the app yourself. And also, opening those apps will become much slower.

i dont understand your reply. why openin automatically? i used before note 3 never nothing happens like that..
It must have been like this on the Note 3, as well, but you just didn't notice it. Because, as I said, it's always like that. In every Android phone. Apps open themselves because they have to. You can force stop them - some stay closed when you do that, some don't depending on what they do, and what their function is. You can use Greenify and make them actually stay closed, which I guarantee you will not like one bit.
My point is you're talking about a feature that's been there since ever, as if it were a problem. It's not. It's what makes your phone run smoothly, and shows you your messages as soon as someone sends them, and makes your alarms go off, and allows you to find your phone if it's lost, and the list goes on.
