recently I've bought a galaxy tab s 8.4 , but take too mach time (about 6 hours) to charging with it's stock charger (5.3 v , 2.0 A) , when i charged with note 4 charger (5 v , 2.0 A) , it charged normal (about 2.5 hours)
now i have two questions :
1. the note 4 charger is suitable for my device ? isn't bad for battery life ?
2.is it possible that the stock charger was fake !!!???
I only have the 10.5 and i dont really know the full charge time as i only ever charge to 80% so as to reduce the cumlative damage to the battery that is cause when you charge to 100%.
A slow charge is better as it produces less heat than a fast charge does, heat is the enemy of battery health.
Your tab s 8.4 has an 4900mah battery, your note 4 has only an 3220mah battery, I dont really know why one charger charges faster than the other.

You should get yourself a "usb power meter" lots on ebay i have a couple that only cost me £3 each delivered they allow you to see how much power your usb devices are charging at in real time, they show my 10.5 charging at approx 2amp with the supplied 5.3v 2amp charger that came with my 10.5
John.
Try exchanging the cables. Sometimes broken cable can be the culprit.
It is the same MHL3 compatible charger, 2 Amps specified, at 5,2V which is approx 10 Watts.
Should take around 2 hours to charge the 18,6 Wh battery.

1) The Note 4 charger is fine. You cannot overcharge because the kernel limits the charging speed.
2) Who knows, but my T705 arrived with a European charger with US adapter and it charges slower than I expected. Definitely slower than my Note 4 charges. I'll try charging the T705 with my Note 4. Never considered doing that.
I used the Tab S charger to charge my Note 4 today.
Using the Galaxy Charging app, I was seeing charge averages upwards of 1500MaH. So it's at least that fast, maybe faster.
The phone charged in about the time I expected it to, compared against the stock Note 4 charger.

I have the same problem...needs about 7 hours to charge..
I know people are in a hurry, but slow charging is better for the battery, as when you charge the battery fast it gets hot and heat is bad for the battery, also try not to charge your battery when it is hot, left it cool down a bit first.
Try to charge overnight when you are sleeping, set an alarm to remind you to plug it in before you go to bed.
Have a read of the link below, it will give you some advice on how to make your battery live as long as possible, If you have lots of money don`t worry about it.

Hi
I am talking about the Nexus S I9020T (if it makes any difference),stock, unrooted and on Android 2.3.6 .
1.When your Nexus S battery is bone-dry : how much time to fully charge it to 100% ?
2.Do you use the stock (2-piece) OEM charger ? or you have another Samsung charger that is compatabile ? (from another experience with an LG phone , a very old LG charger was vastly faster than the charger that came with the newer LG phone ... Just a side note)
In my case , it took more than 4 hours to charger , with the OEM charger that came with my Nexus pack...
please post your experience here ...

well the last time I checked it took about 3 hours...
I don't use the stock charger, I've gotten some ipad 2 chargers (2 amps) for office, home and car, battery charges is less than 2 hours, i would have to measure it to know for sure. Heck, it even charges when using navigation.
3.5-4 hours
I usually leave mine overnight to charge. it takes about 3-4 hours to charge.
Around 3-4 hours. I rarely get to absolutely empty though.
I would advise against using a higher amperage charger. Not only can you permanently damage your Nexus S but even slightly higher can have adverse effect.
I tested mine with 1 amp charger (instead of 0.7 amp stock) and the touchscreen would react strangely when on the charge. As soon as I disconnected it, everything was back to normal.
Well I bought the Galaxy S3 on the first day of the UK launch and depleted the battery to 0% then charged with the original 1 Amp charger from 0%. I had noticed that this takes a very very long time, around 8 hours. The battery life after charging however is substantial and very adequate.
On the second charge after depletion once again, I decided to use a Griffin 2.1 Amp charger which I had used to charge the hefty Galaxy note with. The Galaxy S3 charges at a much rapid rate and takes around 2-3 hours to reach 100% from 0%. However I have noticed that the battery life depletes a bit faster, Is this due to my imagination or is a 2.1 Amp charger not suitable for this phone as it was with the tablet-like Galaxy note.
Also note that I tried to charge my HTC one X with the 2.1 Amp charger and it charge very slowly, while the original HTC charger has a much lower ampage than 1 Amp

Well, the first charge always takes longer. 2nd charge will be faster.
Btw, you shouldn't use other chargers.

Hello Guys!
I got today a new P3110 and I discacharged it to 2% and I plugged it now to load.
I have seen the charger pushes 2A @ 5V , this is pretty much for a battery of 4Ah, I know from my batteries ( AA AAA and others) that the charging current should be max. 1/3 of the capacity of battery.
So my question is: IS it better to charge it with the Samsung Galaxy S2 charger which provides only 0,[email protected],1V ?
It would last app. 6h to charge it till its full ( can be done over night, hopefully the charger wont melt)....
What do you think about that? Woul it harm to battery(li poly) to do it with small current?
cheers
If the charger seems much then tell me why Samsung made it.

You have got to be kidding me. ITS SO THE TAB CHARGES FASTER. IT WON'T KILL THE BATTERY!!!!
Its because the tab has a much bigger battery 4000mah vs 16xxmah.
It charges it faster

Of couse it charges faster, but for long therm it will kill the battery faster. Its usual, like every battery. Every fast charger is not good for battery, I just wanted to know if somebody have a expieriance...

Battery life span is a matter of charge cycles 0%-100%-0%. That is 1 cycle and surely batteries don't discharge to 0% not charge fully to 100%
-AFAIK- Even with lithium, Its the heat build up when "fast" charging that shortens any battery life - (same with fast discharging- I would never use those apps that do so) , so I agree with shOne. I have the same model & have noticed the battery does get quite hot when mains charging,( though have never thought to check charging AH).
I would imagine that the only damage you would do with using phone charger would be to the charger, by sucking out more than it can handle, not the battery ! -
-- But why not charge it via a pc usb port - this take a lot longer (so presume much lower AH) than the mains plug in charger - Most usb pc ports are nowadays - permanently live, even when pc off - same with the usb on a modern sky/virgin box. My battery does not get hot, charging this way. I dont know what the charge rate is charging this way ,because both the inbuilt notification & my battery app say "discharging" - (although actually charging)
(I agree that Samsung have provided a quick mains charger, and wouldnt be averse to selling replacement batteries earlier than would otherwise be neccessary, !! (I wouldnt use cheap replacement batteries in any I.T. stuff - I "blew up " a laptop once as a result!!)
I believe that the 2 amp charge is reasonable with the out put of most lithium batteries for this type of device. Since it is a lithium it will not be overcharging or over heating due to sensing, it would be a serious fire hazard... fyi I use a2 amp charger from Wal-Mart and I do not notice my device really heating up...

Agreed. The worst I got was a cheap replacement off a street without a packaging for a dollar. When I plugged it in for a few minutes the battery turned extremely hit and the battery expanded as if it was a puffer fish that took an electric shock

LOL.........mine was a supposed "genuine" DELL replacement battery I got on EB from HK. On the first charge (in the bedroom) heard a strange hissing then a loud "pop". Some of the underside casing was actually melted and there was battery gunge all over the internals!

A lot of things I bought from Hong Kong off Ebay actually came from mainland China pfff.....
It's those low quality defects they send you. Mass market goods in china doesn't require quality passes unlike Hong Kong where it's illegal once they get pass customs.

OK, electronics 101, chargers DO NOT PUSH power to a a battery, 2 AMPS is the chargers MAXIMUM OUTPUT, the device plugged to the charger PULLS what it wants (up to a maximum of 2A of current) so it can charge in a reasonable amount of time, you may be able to charge your tablet with a lower output charger but all it would do is take longer to charge (if the charger even had the power output greater then the static draw of the device), which is why most tablets simply CANNOT be charged by the USB 2.0 port on a computer or other small .5 A output chargers. You may very well charge while generating less heat, because of the slower charge cycle using the .7A S2 charger, but at the same time if you try to use the tablet while it's charging on the smaller charger it may very well drop in battery percentage as the smaller charger may not be enough to maintain the current requirements to charge the battery and run the device.
So in short, would charging with the smaller charger harm the battery, NO, but if it is enough to actually charge the device it will take atleast DOUBLE the amount of time to recharge as it would with the regular 2A charger.
Hi I just bought a used galaxy note 10.1
it did not come with a usb wall charger
after 7 hours of charging
a search said its my usb charger
I was wounding if it is normal for this to take over 24 hours from 0% battery on a charger like this
that only gives 0.5 A
or am I doing damage to my battery by leaving on charge for longer than 24 hours
its like a incredibly slow trickle charge
right now its almost full it claims but im not sure if it will ever be full at this rate
I thought maybe 24 hours but now its 1 hour past 24
I was trying to (calibrate the battery )
so I let it die to 0%
I turned the device on half way though charging
noticed it had an x though the batter so I freaked out and tryed plugging and unplugging it like 10 times
I was wounding how bad that might be for the memory of my battery to do something like that
because I unplugged it before it got to 100% when i was attempting to calibrate it
Im not sure how sensitive these batteries are
but your input would be much appreciated
You could use an off brand iPad charger with your USB cable to help it charge faster your typical phone charger will only give off 0.5 ma, so look for one for a tablet

I know that but I was wondering if leaving it plugged in will it be bad for my battery at all
to leave it plugged in now approaching 28 hours
the charging logo on the screen appears to have approximately 75% charge so far
I want it to get to 100%
should I unplug it if its not charged in 6-8 more hours
im mainly wondering if it is even possible to fully charge to 100%
on a old ipod usb charger or not

You are not harming your device. The only negative is that it will take longer to charge. The red is normal when not using either the correct type charging block or usb cable, it is not harming your tablet.
I would just do what some of the other posters have suggested, getting a new charger made for a tablet, just because waiting that long for it to charge is not practical.

SGN 10.1 GT-N80XX series need a specifically designed charger for them.
One thing for sure, it need to provide 2.1 A, 5 V & most phone charger only supply around 0.5 - 1 A.
Most 3rd party charger also only supply around 0.5 - 1 A.
The other is the data pin(s) & it quite different with Apple's charger.
I've tried several 3rd party chargers & Apple chargers (iPod,iPhone & iPad) & most of it unable to charge my N8000.
You need to buy an original charger for your device.
Or you can try buying 3rd Party N80XX charger on eBay from a reputable seller.
That being said, you also need an original cable to be used with the original charger.
Most 3rd party cable can only supply 0.5 A & some 3rd party charger can only be used using specific 3rd party cable.
A long 3rd party cable (10 ft / 3 m) usually can only supply around 1 A.
For example :
I have a Powerbank that uses its own cable to charge at 2.1A rate, but I can't use my own original cable with it
But my original cable is fine & I uses it to charge using my original wall charger.
It takes around 4-5 hours from 4% to 100% (with WiFi ON & all sync on)
0.5 A can't charge your device while in Power ON condition.
To charge at 0.5 A rate you have to turn OFF your device & it will take a long time to get 100%
(N80XX series have a 7000mAh battery so you can calculate how long).
NOTE:
The battery with red cross icon means that the charger/cable isn't designed for N80XX (usually the data pin settings is mismatching the original design), but it will still charge your device at a very low amperage (lower than 0.5A) to prevent damage for using inappropriate charger.

I'm looking to replace the old battery of my s6 that drains (and heats up?) quickly.
A supposedly original Samsung s7e battery is sold at many websites for ~$20 such as walmart. Even if it is indeed an original (quality) Samsung battery it's still 4~5 years old? On top of that I don't have a case so I'm not too keen on the battery being 1mm thicker.
https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/Samsung-Galaxy-S7-Edge-G935W8-Battery-Replacement/PRD441YFPLP0QVC
Meanwhile on Amazon a 3800 mah li-polymer battery is sold by 'SHENMZ' with a number of reviews suggesting it has better capacity (at least 3000 mah according to accubattery) than the original S6 battery: https://www.amazon.ca/Upgraded-Rechargeable-Portable-Charging-Protective/dp/B07RN3LDVV/
This 'SPWOMYGD' one is significantly cheaper but the reviews don't look promissing: https://www.amazon.ca/SPWOMYGD-Galaxy-S6-Replacement-EB-BG920ABE/dp/B088M8FZYR/
I'm pretty undecided at this point .

Dont you have a 2.0A plug? Your fones fine, just find a charger that says 2.0A or 2000mA and get on with it lol, sayin that, I dont know the usb power output of the macbook, was it the macbook you plugged into? If so, try another port?

I haven't used the phone for the past 2 weeks or so due to the poor battery battery life, so I guess I'll plug it for 72 hours non-stop or a week or whatever and see, but I'd be really surprised if it will be as good as new .
Yeah, just dont turn it on for 24 hours, try powering on anytime after that, the good thing is if it's that flat, you dont need the capacitor, you just need to slow flash lol, but remember when your (new style) battery is run down to say 10%, it's be best to drain it completely before next charge
