Can anyone confirm whether the in-line controls works (to what extent) with the M9?

My bose in ear will only pause and fast forward the track. It may reverse the track as well I can't recall right now but I remember it was not fluid I kept trying the triple press.

I have tested the momentum in-ear with the M9 in one of the concept stores in Singapore.
The volume keys, play/pause, next (double tapping play/pause) and previous (triple tapping play/pause) functions are all working perfectly.
The above was tested with Poweramp app.

Sennheiser momentum on hear volumen buttons do not working. Maybe are the same i dont know but some reference

Sennheiser MM50iP headphones

I noticed that the headphones that come with the Nexus One have a four pin 3.5mm connector for the inline remote. Does this means the Sennheiser MM50iP headphones (for the iPhone) will work?:

Or actually this adapter from Shure might be better:

Yes, they should work as they're dopod headphones.
and, £30 for a headphone adaptor? madness.......
Yes. I can confirm the Sennheiser MM50iP headphones work perfectly with my Nexus One. As in, everything works, including the mic and button.
Clicking the button on the mic piece plays/pauses music (same as the Play button the included stereo headset). Double clicking the button skips to the next song eek just like the iPhone. Triple clicking to go back does not work.
Clicking the button when a call comes in answers the call and clicking it again mutes the call. Clicking and holding to end calls doesn't work (dunno why, it doesn't work with the included headset either).
Microphone works perfectly, both in calls and in the voice recorder app I downloaded.
I can't believe it myself- it looks as if either Google or HTC designed it to work with iPhone headsets

What's the sound quality like?
I see they're down to £10 now... and my Phillips are getting tired even if they do sound fantastic.

I can confirm that these work. I use them with my UE11's and my Shure SE530s. They work like a dream.

Ten quid? I bought them for £50
Sound quality is excellent. These headphones are bit heavy on bass though. Google for reviews on the CX300 (same headphones just w/o the mic).
For ten pounds you could certainly do worse Get them!
I have a NuForce NE-7M and a Ultimate Ears triple.fi 10vi, which I bought for my iPhone.
The button and mic work perfectly.
The button even works for Play/Pausing the Music, in addition to Call Answer/Cut..
double clicking to skip to next song should also work.
Does the click and hold to end call work for you? It doesn't work on my Nexus with both my Sennheisers and the included stereo headset.
Thanks for the replies everyone.

Doesn't sound very perfect if back and end call doesn't work, but that sounds like enough for me. Think it might be time to order myself a set of these, since the included are grating on my ears.

Volume Control on Headphones

Hi
Does anyone know of a desire-compatible headphone remote control with a volume control?
I can't believe the one provided doesn't have one!
well since the headphones plug into a 3.5mm jack that takes no data, unlike the G1's proprietry extUSB, its actually impossible. Or impractical if you want. It would need t plug into the usb and the 3.5mm jack at the same time.
edit: define remote control. remote control as in changing songs or remote control as in just changing the volume with a slider?
Both.
Imagine the OEM remote control (skip tracks, play / pause) with the addition of a volume slider.
I personally disagree with alex101uk's comment. After all, the iPhone has a perfectly usable remote to do track skipping, volume control, play/pause and call control, all of that with a single 3.5mm jack, that as far as I can tell is exactly the same connector as the one on the original HTC remote.
So, I really don't understand:
1) Why the iPhone headsets cannot be used with HTC's phones. Surely it should have been possible to not invent yet another way of doing remote control
2) Why nobody wrote an application for Android that would make it possible to use Apple headsets (there are quite a few of those accessories available)
In the meantime, yeahdisk, you should try the Headset Volume Control app which allows the next/prev buttons on the original HTC remote to be used for volume control with a long click. It works well with the original music app and the HTC's own. I wish it did continuous volume control, but I guess it's better than nothing...
Could you point us in the direction of the volume control app please?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Here it is. on Cyrket. $3, claims to work with Sense. I've not tried it.
Description as follows:
A tool that let`s you control the music volume with the stock headset`s buttons. Long press PREV / NEXT to make louder / quieter. Usable with android/sense default Music application. Just install it & start changing volume, no additional actions needed.
Found it. I was looking on AppBrain, but it turned up on the regular Market.
Works perfectly with the Music player on my Desire with PAYS latest ROM. Also works perfectly with the Saffire Audiobook player so I'm a happy bunny.
Just hold the button in for as long as you like until the volume reaches the required level.
$3 well spent in my view.
I use the iPhone headphones rather than the stock headphones because I find them more comfortable. Anyone know of a way to make the volume buttons do something?

Hi, I'm sorry to open an old thread but there are many unresolved things here that I really can use.
For example that Android app to make remotes from different brands work.
With remote i meant being able to change the volume, skip track, play/pause and make/end call.
Certain fruit-brand headsets are causing the most trouble. Yes, yes those damn iPhone and Ipod headset remotes.
I don't think it should be that hard to make an app that can read a signal from any remote, save/register it, gives you an option to bind it to a certain function.
Btw does anyone know Fibretronic? Check it out on Fibretronic.com.
I've modified my snowboard jacket to have a remote on the sleeve connected to the BTM module.
I was thinking of using the IPLX module, but since those are " Made for Ipod ", they have the incorrect functions on my HTC Desire HD. -> volume buttons not working, next/preventie track = call/end call last dialled person, play/pause does work.

I agree, am very curious why the Apple headphones control don't work with Android...they both use 4 conductor 3.5mm jacks correct? Even if it a slight hardware difference [i.e. resistance values] then an app could convert the Apple controls signals from the headset into Android system commands and push them to the phone/music player...right?
This could be a huuuuuuge feature if someone were to crack this problem...
This is something i have been interested in since i got my desire.
Before my desire i had the nokia N95 8GB and the inline headset control was awesome. Skip tracks forward and back, volume up and down, play/pause and stop and answer/hang up. The best part was the fact it had a 3.5mm connector on the end so you can use your own prefered headphones. They currently dont work with the desire. If someone could make a hack or app to allow this to work they would be fricken awesome.
This is what i am talking about incase anyone has not seen this before

Not quite...
First, iPhone-compatible accessories use a different pinout (there are two industry standards for TRRS 3.5mm jacks and it turns out that HTC and iPhone use different ones)
Second, different resistance values are not something that could be easily handled by the software because translation of resistance values into commands happens in a piece of hardware - so, specific resistance values are, thus, "hardcoded" in the chip.

You could of course try cutting off the stock 3.5mm jack on the remote control and soldering another one with the right pin-out, but even then it's not guaranteed the way the Nokia remote control uses to transmit the commands would be compatible with HTC hardware.
BTW, there seems to be a detailed DIY video:
Modify iPhone Headsets To Android Device Compatible Ones With Remote And Media Control Feature
I still have my original HTC earphones that came with the HTC Desire. Took it out once to try it but found it too uncomfortable and promptly put it away.
In case people are still looking for this, try using the app calles Jays Headset Control.
Simple and easy to use and then it allows to use 1 button to control a lot.

Does this phone support the headset button?

Hello,
When listening to music -
Does this phone support the wired headset button on newer earbud/headsets to pause and FF to the next song?
thanks in advance
Kevin
I'm using the headset from my Nexus One and it has the play, forward and back buttons and it works great. I like it because I can plug them in and hit play without ever waking the phone

I didn't know Android phones could work with headsets like that. Is it a particular headset or will an iPod compatible headset that has the track & volume controls work? If it's a particular headset, would you give me the MFR & model?

i'm interested in this as well. i have the pair from my nexus, but much prefer apple ones.
Thanks for the response.
I use these earbuds on my captivate -
JBuds J3M Micro Atomic In-Ear Earphones with Microphone (look on amazon or other places to buy...)
They sound great and allow me to stop/ff songs on my captivate with the PowerAmp music player.
Other music players work a little differently but still support pause/FF songs from the switch on the wire, which is a huge benefit and time saver.
good luck
Kevin
These are the same ones they gave me when I bought my Nexus One... they work really well for me!

Im using my Samsung headphones from my Windows phone I traded,
and I all I am able to use is the headphone button underneath the volume control which allows me to make a call to the last entry when I double click it, and when i hold it, it brings up the voice dialer. I swear the other day, I was able to go to the next and previous songs when i hit the volume controls up or down. But now that doesn't seem to be working. The volume buttons never seemed to work with the phone, so I guess its just depends what headphones you have.

Headset for Music Controls

Anyone found an iPhone type in the ear headset with volume and track control for Google Music streaming to work on the One X?
If I use the iPhone headset or any button headset on the One X when I double click the song track does advance, but the One X also redials my last call at the same time.
So looking for a Google Music control headset.
Thanks
I am using a pair of ibeats from a rezound phone and the controls work perfectly and as a plus match my red case.

Look for some made for Android and they will work. The iPhone ones will work but you have to download a program and reassign the controls.
I personally just got a pair of ibeats like above said. It works 100% and matches lol.
Try the marketplace. A lot of Rezound owners will sell their ibeats separately.

When you say the controls work perfect does the volume up and down buttons work for you?
Now that we've got root (the Rogers users anyway,) I plan on doing some work towards this end. I've got some nice Denon earbuds, but they're designed for the iPhone, and thus the volume buttons do nothing. The middle button works fine as play/pause, but as the OP states, double-clicking redials, and a long-press pulls up Cyberon Voice Commander (not sure if this is present in the AT&T model.)
I fixed the long-press thing before by simply disabling Cyberon, however, I'd rather implement proper control over what the headset does.
The bad news is that logcat doesn't actually log the pressing of the buttons, only the results of the buttons being pressed. So, when I press the volume keys, I get no information at all. I don't have much time to work on this now, but hopefully on the weekend I'll find some time to dig into the Android source and find where the remote media buttons are defined.
Excellent this sounds great.
From what i have seen for remote apps on the Play store in the descriptions developers have said that it is an OS limitation. That the OS doesn't detect clicks from the volume buttons. craig0r what you said seems to confirm what I had previously found.
But please look into it and it would be great if you can find a fix. You could definitely make some good money if you made it an app and published it in the Play store
I came across a free app called Jays Headset, I emailed the guy and he got right back to me.
It works great with Google Music and my iPhone headset, though not the actual volume buttons on the headset. Works with any headset it seems.
Did I mention it was FREE

At the very lowest level, the OS must detect the clicks. It will certainly require root , as I'm sure I'll have dig into the linux HID system. It might even require a modified driver, at which point I'll probably give up since I've never made drivers before I don't see this being worth the effort.
I would actually love it if I could use the volume buttons for volume, but my hopes right now are that I can get the volume buttons to emulate the skip/search buttons on android earphones, like the ones HTC used to include. (Speaking of which, wtf is up with no included headphones?? I knew we were gonna get Beats headphones, but come on.)
Oh, and I'd likely provide the app for free. It's not going to be pretty, it will require root, and it's something I feel should be included in the OS anyway, so I don't think it'd be fair to charge for it.

Headset for Z1 wanted

Hey!
I am really missing track selection for my Z1 (using the headphones that came in the box). Even just a single buton for "Next track" would make a difference.
Does anyone know if I could use a different manufacturers headset with those features? Are those compatible between manufacturers? I never even use the headphones for anything other than music so even if I could just modify the button that is available to next track that would be enough, but I suppose that's tricky.
Anyone got a suggestion?

You mean Z1 Compact? Didn't the ones in the box have a single button (double-click for change track)?
All Bluetooth headsets should work fine and have a range of inline controls. For wired headsets, ignore any Made for iPhone ones and go for Made for Android labels. The Z1C is compatible with many of these, including Samsung's and HTC's.
My personal favorite affordable earphones with 3-button inline remote are the HTC E240 ones - really nice balanced sound for the price, better than some $100+ buds.
Sony also has a Smart Key app in the Play Store that allows you to change the functions of the inline buttons. Once you plug in a compatible headset, Smart Connect should prompt you to install it.
Wow, thanks a ton. Indeed the the headset has a single button, as mentioned in my last sentence. Your mention of the Smart Key app was exactly what I needed... Allowd three options to be mapped into the single key, that is all I need.
Smart Connect ki da failed to mention it, or maybe I have nuked the notification accidentally before reading it.
If anyone should care or look themselves, I have now opted for the Sony SBH80 wireless headset. It has very good sound (for my music style), great wearing comfort and I get compatible Buttons for play/pause, prev/next, call accepting and volume control. The two devices worked together really awesomely, the Xperia also tells me h exact leftover battery time in the headset (about 8 hours of playback). Worth considering.
