[GUIDE] Send new Whatsapp messages from Android Wear Smartwatch - Wear OS General

Hi guys
So I just recently bought a Moto 360 and was searching the Internet for how to send new whatsapp messages from the watch since it originally only provides functionality to reply to whatsapp messages but I was unable to find a solution so I ended up creating a profile through Tasker to help me through with this and I've decided to post it in case anyone else needs help.
How it works :
Basically all you have to do is say "Send whatsapp to <name>", following which it will ask what message you want to send and finally ask for confirmation.
What you need :
1. Tasker
2. Whatstasker (requires root)
3. Autovoice
4. Autowear
5. Autocontacts
6. An Android Wear watch
7. Whatsapp
Tasker description :

For those of you, who want a directly importable file for Tasker, here is the link :
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3mZ-9G8MrPMbkRxTkhQcDBGVzg/edit?usp=docslist_api
or
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bhy5sfauoepiypd/Vocal_Whatsapp_Wear.prf.xml?dl=0
I would also like to add that each of Tasker, Autovoice, Autowear, and Autocontacts is a paid app, but for those of you who would want to use this feature without buying all of these, the task can be modified to work without Autocontacts, but with the loss of Background picture of contact being displayed in the background on your watch when confirmation is being asked. Also, the profile can be adapted to work with the Lite version of AutoVoice. There is no work around for either of Tasker or Autowear.
Any questions or doubts can be asked below. Hope this helps you people out.
Happy whatsapping

Better try this App https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pacosal.wear.newmessage

Just downloaded the app and trying it out in the next hours.

That app has not been posted by me.

Hey, tasker can not open the file from link, any idea?

I checked the settings on Drive. It should work. Anyway here's a Dropbox link to help you out:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bhy5sfauoepiypd/Vocal_Whatsapp_Wear.prf.xml?dl=0
Do get back to me if you need any more features, and if you're still unable to open it, tell me your E-mail and i'll mail it across to you.
All the best
Edit: By the way, I tried with the Drive link in an incognito tab and I am able to download it without a problem.

Treycent let's you post to Twitter or WhatsApp by voice. Just launch the app then speak your message. At the end of your spoken message just add "post to Twitter" or "post to WhatsApp". For example: "heading to a meeting now post to whatsapp". For WhatsApp you need the app installed on your phone, Twitter does not have this requirement. Make sure your first post is done from the phone so that authorizations can be done.

Google has now integrated this into "Ok Google" - see here https://plus.google.com/+google/posts/Lak3Pep2Yjd

Thanks
Dj

all your guideline was helpful....

Thx

Send new whatsapp message from Android wear smartwatch
Though I'm a not Android wear user but I do know that sending a new message from Android wear smartwatch. I guess you have already got the perfect answer in above post.

Why not just use Quick for Wear to reply to WhatsApp?
You can reply to WhatsApp messages with voice or keyboard with Quick for Wear. No root needed.

Replying seems to work with "messages for android wear".... but you can't do new messages

There is now also an app to start new Messages :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.bassapps.WatchChat
Check it out!

[Q] Whatsapp - "Select all" contacts when broadcasting message

I would like to broadcast message within Whatsapp application to all my friends, all at once. Is there a solution for it?
Within Whatsapp, there are four tabs:
Chats / Favs / All / Status
Chat = all current conversation
Favs = all Whatspp user who is in my phonebook
All = all contact who is in my phonebook
Status = select my status: available, Busy, At school, etc.
Steps to broadcast a message:
Menu > Broadcast Message... >
1. Input message
2. Select contacts by name typing only (maximum 25 recipients)
Therefore, we need to find way to:
1. Increase the number of maximum recipients.
2. "Select all" contacts to broadcast a message.
The solution could be process in Android, iPhone, Blackberry or iPad, whichever possible.

There's a few scripts that work on the iOS which allows you to select all your contacts with one click and BC message to them. I wish an Android dev would do the same for Android WhatsApp. It shouldn't be difficult or?
Hey, Im looking for some automation thing that cloud at least create broadcast lists automatically (up to 256 each). Any word on this?
Thanks

Question about NFC tags.

I have the Sprint Siii, but I'm hoping it's the same for you guys, nobody can help me out on my forums.
I want to send a text when I swipe an NFC tag.
When I use the stock Samsung NFC app, the most it does it fill out the message and the "to" fields. I have to send it manually though.
I downloaded NFC Task Launcher and both plugins for it.
Most I can get it to do is fill out the fields, but I have to manually send it. I tried regular message and the uri one. Both do the same thing, but don't send.
Anyone get it to work at all?

I'm digging through the nfc task launcher app piece by piece.
The reason I couldn't get the plugin to work to autosend the text message before was because I used the wrong tag command.
I was using the sms option under the menu:
New uri
...when I should have been using the option in:
New task
...then:
Phone
...then the sms message option.
So, if we want to pre-populate a message but still be prompted to send or not, then "new uri" is the category to choose from.
If you download the text message plugin, then you can just auto send the message without further interaction then simply tapping the tag using the "new task" category and sms message in the "phone" subcategory.
I also downloaded the phone autodial plugin, and set a tag to call my lady - now calling her while travelling is a simple tap away.

I was able to get it to work with NFC Task Launcher and the plug-in, IIRC. I don't think I saw a copy of the message, in my messaging app, but my wife got them. I only tried it a few times, I just prefer to hit the send button myself.

I know it can be done with tasker, and i know NFC task launcher can initiate Tasker tasks...
There was an update on the sms plugin today. It now works for me and puts the message in your sent message. Thanks for the help

Use NFC Smart Q - in my opinion the best NFC App on the Market and FREE! You can set up a text message (Text "On my way home") to specific contact (Your spouse) and program it to a tag. Then when you tap the tag, it will automatically send that message. You do not have to hit anything - it just does it in the background. Works awesome! Link to app on Google Play: NFC Smart Q
And if you need more tags - check out my store below.

[TUTORIAL] unread mail count tasker all mail clients (imap)

No idea where to put this, admin; feel free to move or delete.
There's a lot of really cool custom theming going on with Android and an often important part of that is the visual indication of missed phone calls, new messages, new mail, etc. (unread bubbles next to app icons, in lockscreens, etc.). There's a host of solutions to get this info but for me e-mail counts had always been a bit of a issue. Missed phone calls are tracked by the Android system, and WhatsApp notifications can be counted from the notification bar with Tasker and reset when you open the app because your phone is the only place where you will check your WhatsApp messages. E-mail however is not centralized in Android (yet) so if you use anything else than Gmail the system won't know how many unread mails you have and you could uee a notification counter on your mail app but when a new email arrives it will put the counter on +1, if you then read the e-mail on another device (for example your computer) your notification counter on your phone will still be on +1 even though you read the mail.You then have to open your mail app to get the counter back to 0 again.
That why I made this PHP / Tasker solution for my IMAP mail. This is a PHP script that checks how many unread mails there are in your inbox:
PHP:
<?php
function mailCount($host, $login, $passwd) {
$mbox = imap_open($host, $login, $passwd);
$mail = '';
if($mail = imap_check($mbox)) {
$msgnos = imap_search($mbox, 'UNSEEN');
return $msgnos;
}
}
$hostname = '{imap.yourhost.com:143/imap}INBOX';
$username = 'your_username';
$password = 'your_password';
$count = mailCount($hostname, $username, $password);
if ($count != "") $number = sizeof($count);
else $number = 0;
echo $number;
Change yourhost, your_username and your_password and the port (143). (if you want to, add some extra security by doing IP or Cookie checks), put the PHP file online on your server. The script will then simply show a number of unread mails in your inbox.
Then you can use Tasker to read this number. Add a tasks (for example CheckMailCount) then add the action Net > HTTP Get. For 'Serverort' fill in the url of your script (http://www.yourserver.com/unreadmail.php) and set the Mime Type to 'text/*'. Then in the same task add an action Variables > Variable Set. Give the variable a Name (for example: %MAILCOUNT) and set it To %HTTPD. This will set the %MAILCOUNT variable to the result of the last http Get request ie. the number of unread mails.
You now have a tasker variable with the actual number of unread mails in your inbox.
I use this on my WidgetLocker lockscreen so I trigger the task on Event > Display > On. I added a third action in the CheckMailCount action to set a Zooper Variable (Plugin > Zooper Widget Pro >Edit > ZW Variable = MAILNOTI, ZW Text = %MAILCOUNT) you could also make this %HTTPD straight away if you don't use the variable for anything else. You then have the #TMAILNOTI# variable in Zooper to use to display how many unread mails you have in a widget. I don't use the count but I display a mail icon indicating that I have a new mail if the #TMAILNOTI# is anything but 0. I do this by adding a bitmap in Zooper of a mail icon and then in Avanced Parameters I put
$#TMAILNOTI#=0?/sdcard/icons/nomail.png$
This tells Zooper that if the variable #TMAILNOTI# = 0 it should use the bitmap nomail.png in my icons folder on the sd card. nomail.png in my case is simply an empty transparent png.
Hope this helps somebody!

Petition for Samsung to fix issues with WhatsApp, Telegram and more.

So Gear smartwatches have been having trouble receiving notifications from apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Google Allo and more for a long time.
According to some tests, it looks like this was caused by the new Android Nougat notifications API, which caused incompatibility with the notifications service of the Gear app. Turns out this problem is a good time, Samsung has never released any fix and still dodges when we commented the problem to the company.
Example:
"Hi, my name is Vítor."
"How are you?"
On Gear:
"How are you?
This petition would be to catch the attention of Samsung and show that it simply can not abandon its users who paid $ 300 in devices until then without corrections of problems like these. WE CAN NOT DEPEND ON APPS WHEN WE BUY A DEVICE THAT WOULD DO IT!
Whoever wants to sign the petition, use the link below:
https://goo.gl/WgJIm4
I don't use any of those apps, but wouldn't it be an issue with those apps rather than the gear s3?
the gear S3 simply mirrors notifications in your notification drawer, so if an old notification is overwritten by the app it will also be overwritten on the watch.
My Huawei Watch with androidwear 2.0 wear don't shows this issue
So I don't think, it's a problem of those app(s)
I would say, It's clearly an issue of the watch software, not caused by WhatsApp and like this...
If only the last notification will be shown by the watch-software, what would be done against it by the app
The petition is a really good idea, because this is to be fixed by Samsung!
there are some app in galaxy store to solve this problem ...
I bought my G3 two days ago and WhatsApp, WeChat and Line all work perfectly though sometimes there are delays in receiving them (less than 1 minute). I can also see pictures my friends sent me by WhatsApp!
I use Samsung Galaxy S8.

Can you see all notifications when you have received multiple notifications ?
Example : someone sends you 4 messages on WhatsApp....do you see all 4 messages ? Or only the last one ?
(because that is the typical problem here...)

There's a complete topic about this issue here on XDA, which you can find here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/help/notifications-history-message-t3520714
An app in the Gear Store solves this issue, called W-History
What users are really bugged about, is that a developer can create an app which should have been a default feature of the watch from the beginning.
I used to own a Samsung Gear 2 (square smartwatch with Tizen OS) and this watch was able to show all notifications that were received in some kind of history overview.
Even when the notifications were dismissed, the watch was able to show them. Only manually removing them from the "history" would remove them.
Weird that Samsung didn't put in this feature....

I have no problem receiving notification even when my S3 is in power saving mode though I can't read the contents.
My gear s3 only shows the first unread msg instead of the last ? but when I try using tasker + autonotification to query notification, it can detect all unread msgs, not the first, not the last ?
Edit: "the first unread msg" means the first unread msg of the group. If there are unread msgs from several groups at the same time, the first unread msg of these groups will be shown in gear s3.
Finally, use tasker + autonotification (again) to workaround this.
Switched from andriod wear which doesn't have problem on this.

This is not a perfect solution but at least works for me for some degree. FYI, my gear s3 shows only one message (the first one) from each sender.
Limitation:
- may get mashed when there is message flooding from WhatsApp
- depends on WhatsApp notification format; it may change when WhatsApp got updated
- in WhatsApp notification at mobile phone, it will not show all unread messages actually; it just shows the first few (5 or 6) from the same sender but at least better than gear s3's default (only one!)
- after gear s3 receives notification from WhatsApp, it will receive another one from this gear_whatsapp task to show you some more unread messages
If you still want to try, you need both Tasker and AutoNotification.
1. Create two tasks (gear_whatsapp, gear_whatsapp_remove)
2. Create an event profile for "Created Notification" from WhatsApp and link to gear_whatsapp
3. Create an event profile for "Cancelled Notification" from WhatsApp and link to gear_whatsapp_remove
For gear_whatsapp:
- A1 is the notification ID
- A2 is the line separator which will show in the notification received by gear s3
- A3 uses AutoNotification to query notification from WhatsApp
- A4-A6 for debugging, can ignore
- A7, sometimes WhatsApp creates very short-life notification (which may already disappear at this step) for checking new messages (strange!) or performing backup; these notifications will be skipped by this task (sorry for the language; I use traditional Chinese but you will know the messages in English when encountering these notifications)
- A8, remove existing notification from this gear_whatsapp, if any
- A9, wait for a moment
- A10-A12, sometimes WhatsApp fills %antext (single line); sometimes %antextlines (multiple lines if there are multiple unread messages); sometimes %antitle will store the sender's name but sometimes not; that means there are multiple formats and maybe it is the reason why Samsung implements in an easy way
- A13-A14, formatting (=:= is the separator used by AutoNotification)
- A15 is to create the real notification, with title = %ansummarytext
For gear_whatsapp_remove:
- A1 is the notification ID
- A2, remove existing notification from this gear_whatsapp, if any
