Samsung is working on the 5.1 update right now for our phones. I'm sure it will include Samsung pay.

Yeah verizon definitely doesn't want us to have Samsung browser for whatever reason. I also hope vzw doesn't get lazy with the update as well. Seeing as how this is a new and very popular device it should at least get prompt attention for most of the year.
Ha we will get 5.1 by Xmas for us with vzw slow behinds

No you have to be on a carrier other than Verizon.

I called today and they told me to download the Samsung Plus app from the Google playstore. I downloaded it agreed to the terms and logged in and then inside the app there was a link that said "Join Samsung Pay Beta". So far it doesn't do anything, but it seems promising that it might work tomorrow after the beta has officially begun.

I'm running 5.1.1 on an ATT S6 Edge+ it wouldn't install in my Verizon S6 Edge whether that was because its on 5.0.2 or because Verizon isn't supporting Samsung Pay I'm not sure.

With today's announcement of Samsung Pay's impending release in the US, I was wondering how one might get involved in the beta testing. According to The Verge, " 'select US users' will be able to take part in a beta test beginning on August 25th." Any way to sign up to be one of those "select users" or will they hand it out semi-randomly?
Sorry. I'm guessing this should be in Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I hear ya. I've resisted doing a full root (did pingpong) to see how this would turn out. When I upgraded in April it was this feature that made me go for the S6 instead of the Note 4. I'm hoping someday someone somewhere will find away to have both root and Samsung Pay. For now, I'm just keeping my options open until I can decide if it's worth it.

Samsung pay supports both NFC and MST. Google wallet, Android Pay, and Apple pay only support NFC. Samsung has the only phones that supports MST. Basicly, it means you can use your phone to pay even when the store has old outdated terminals.

Thank you for contacting the Verizon Wireless Chat Team. One of our skilled Chat Representatives will be with you in a moment.
Your Chat
Hello, my name is Kat. I’m happy to assist you with your question regarding your device.
How can I help you today?
kelliepito: Hi my name is Juan I have the galaxy S6 and would like to know if its going support Samsung Pay?
Kat: Hi great question. I can surely check for you. Allow me one moment please to see if there is any information regarding that feature.
Kat: Thank you so much for your patience.
Kat: Samsung
kelliepito: ok
Kat: Here is what I have found according to Samsung site. the s6 is one that does show that it has the nfc detection area on the device. we actually have a special sim card that inserts into that phone to allow the nfc to work
kelliepito: so will Verizon support it?
Kat: I've checked the system on my end, I'm not getting anything about this showing that our device does not support it. We do have all of the requirements for the NFC currently enabled in the device. I'm checking a co-worker phone right now to see if this is something that shows can be downloaded in the play store as I do not see it on the phone
kelliepito: ok thanks
Kat: You are welcome. allow me just another few moments please
Kat: Thank you so much for all of your patience. seems that this is not something that we will support at launch. I've checked the play store to see if there was an application for it and i'm not finding either as well.
Kat: according to the Samsung site right now, ATT, Sprint, Tmobile, and US Cellular are supporting this at launch
kelliepito: NOT GOOD
Kat: The device does have currently the technology inside of it to allow the important piece of the program to work. I would wait to check back on Samsung site as it nears the date to be sure that our phone will support it in full
Kat: Samsung Pay
kelliepito: WHY ONLY VERIZON NOT SUPPORTING IT?
Kat: I really wish that it was something that I could truly tell you. As of right now not every one supports this. It could be some type of incompatibility issue with the network. I'm not all that sure since the program has not yet launched. in my system there are not any information on the samsung pay. You are more than welcome to contact Samsung to see if they have more information on it. but its not to say that we will not support it, as of right now, we do not support it
IIRC, Verizon never got around to supporting Google Wallet and other payment methods for a good long time. Don't they have a proprietary "wallet" app? If it smells like a fish...

they (verizon) have soft card
Android Pay is upcoming with Marshmallow but then again its VZW. SoftCard was bought by Google.
It could be technically the Radios/Modems in the VZW variant that has some incompatibilities but that is doubtful since Sprint uses the same chipset.

Your phone is rooted so Samsung Pay won't work on it. Regardless of the carrier. That is one of Samsung's rule on using Samsung Pay. It checks to see if your device is rooted.
Losing root was always a possible side effect of using Samsung Pay. The whole point is now we might have it delayed or not have it all together.

That would require you to make a couple of edits and/or bypass the root validation. If you modified the apk you likely compromised a very important security function as they are tied together. Ok, you've officially lost me. What are you talking about? If I searched out a phone I knew I would be able to root, I sure as heck wouldn't have gotten the S6 on launch day. Just so happened a root method became available shortly after. If Samsung Pay becomes available on the Verizon S6 (assuming I haven't sold the phone) I will unroot it in order to use Samsung Pay.

I did not purchase a rooted phone. Maybe you misread my post. I purchased it on launch day. I then rooted it with ping pong root which does not trip knox. Returning to completely stock is as easy as flashing a tar file in Odin...at that point you are no longer rooted. From there you can take OTAs and when Samsung Pay hits, you'd be able to use it without any problems. Does that clear it up for you?
I never once said anything about being rooted AND using Samsung Pay. I DID say it was easy to unroot so you could use Samsung Pay.

You're correct about it requiring 5.1.1. I don't know if it also checks the version of Knox associated with the latest firmware version but it does check the Android version at least. Until we get root on 5.1.1 for Verizon there will be no way to cloak root for apps that check it.

No, don't pay attention to internet scuttlebutt. That being said, nobody truly knows when the official will ship, but TMO has been excellent with providing timely updates in the past. I suspect it will ship sooner rather than later.
I checked the T-Mobile software update site last week and the S7 edge was only in the Manufacturing Development stage. It has since moved to the T-Mobile Testing stage. I would think we'll see the update sooner than later.

The sad thing is that the non-carrier variants for US (G935U) doesn't even have Nougat beta or whatsoever. Plus, T-Mobile let its customers know at least the stage of Nougat release on the phone while Samsung has no mention of Nougat coming to 935Us. Also, the non-carrier variants are on a quarterly update cycle for security updates too. So, it would seem that, at least in the US, get the carrier variants for Samsung phones.

It was released randomly for the SM-N920C 2 ¹/² weeks ago in Turkey...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=71465602
...so it shouldn't be too much longer for the rest of the world to get it. Depends on when your service provider decides to release it though. I asked T-Mobile when it would be for SM-N920T and they pretty much said that they weren't allowed to say, that it would be sometime in the near future and just to keep an eye out for it. No one knows when it will be released, but literally EVERYONE is waiting for this, so believe me you'll know when it arrives on XDA.

Here's a write up about the Sprint Note 5
http://phandroid.com/2017/04/06/sprint-galaxy-note-5-nougat-update/
Folks rocking the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will want to be on the lookout for an OTA to hit their phone. It’s Nougat!
The update is coming in as version N920PVPU3DQC5, a 1.4GB affair. It’ll be receiving all of Nougat’s new features and those which Samsung are delivering as part of a big upgrade to TouchWiz. It may even make your phone feel brand new, though we aren’t promising anything. Oh, and its security patches are fairly up to speed with a March 1st, 2017 level.
Anyway, for such a massive file size you’ll want to make sure you’re on a WiFi connection and have a decently charged battery (let’s say more than 50% to be on the safe side) before attempting to pull it down. Head to the settings menu on your phone to look for it manually if it hasn’t already hit your notifications tray.

I made this tutorial awhile ago for people with root to still be able to receive the update. Doesn't work if you're currently using a Nougat rom though. Can be done easily however from either stock Marshmallow or a Marshmallow rom that's based on your devices firmware.

EDIT: Oh...I forgot you commented on it. Guess you already knew about it. [emoji14]
Tmobile SOON 7.0
I wonder why all the other major US carriers have it out and TMO does not. I hope it is not an indication that the TMO version has bugs.
Could be they wanna make sure it is good for us first. I have heard about the other carriers releasing buggy updates to just get them out...lol we can hope anyway

So can we get a link that I can ODIN WITHOUT signing up and paying money as usual?
My S7E wifi has been broken since last update and no matter what I do it keeps breaking.
I put in a clean install and it works great until T-Mobile forces updates behind my back.
They have known a long time about the issue and blames Samsung "as always"
I'm never buying another Samsung device ever.
I was always just fine with a cheap Chinese knockoff that was unlocked.
They care less what you do with the phone as long as they get paid.
I miss Cyanogen and the fun of changing OS's

If this doesn't work for ya, try to google G935TUVS4BRC1 and make sure that you are using the correct stock rom for T-Mobile and Samsung Galaxy Edge 7. Not AT&T, Not Verizon . . .
You can always Odin back to stock

Thanks brother...
But those links of course...Sign up and for money if I want the premium speeds.
It's funny how the Android OS is critical to using your phone and it is always either broken or you have to pay to get what is free in the first place.
I am never buying Samsung ever again.
