Smart Lock problem on lollipop - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't get the smart lock feature to work on my phone. The face recognize is working but not the trusted places. Every thing with Google's place is on, the GPS is working and I can't understand why it's not working. Tried to remove the trusted places several times and have ad them again, but no luck.
Nordic Lollipop, fresh install.
Any suggestions?

I have the same problem ,no Bluetooth unlock.

Same problem here. I'm on stock lollipop.

Not working for me either

It does work, but attempts to use cellular location which is rather course so it doesn't always recognize the trusted place. Try tapping my location in Maps and see if it works right after that. Overall, it's a battery hog, so I turned it off.

Zaki67,
For BT unlock, you need to go to Settings>Security>Advanced>Trust Agents and turn on "Smart Lock (Google).
When you go back out you should have the "Smart Lock" function available under "Screen Security".

Guy

Was getting the .726 over OTA, and now the trusted places is working better. ?

[Q] Wi-Fi won't stay off

I am quite given up with this issue in my phone; my Wi-Fi connection won't stay off. I want to manually activate/deactivate it, but it seems to have a life of its own.
This is apparently a very recurrent issue among Android phones, but the fix that applies to most doesn't apply to my phone. Most phones come with a Smart Wi-Fi, or in Xperia L's case, Location-based Wi-Fi, which you can disable and hopefully never have Wi-Fi respawn against command again.
In other phones you just have to disable notifications of present Wi-Fi networks, and the Wi-Fi can sleep tight until awoken.
However, I have disabled both modes, and my Wi-Fi still goes back on, no matter what. Can somebody shed some light?

I was looking for a fix rather than a workaround, but I will follow up on that Battery Doctor app, it may well relieve my headaches with this meanwhile.
However, how can I get some kind of debug log about the Wi-Fi activity (like events that trigger it on)?
I found a way to access debugging messages and these 3 messages appear on separate occasions but repeatedly:
Code:
Start proc com.sonyericsson.android.locationbasedwifi:service for broadcast com.sonyericsson.android.locationbasedwifi/.LbwBroadcastReceiver
Code:
Process com.sonyericsson.android.locationbasedwifi:service has died
Code:
D/WifiService( 776): setWifiEnabled: true pid=991, uid=10133
These are the only messages with relevant information about the wifi business. And 2 of these 3 seem to mention the "Location Based WiFi" service, which needless to say, was set to OFF in the Power Management Settings. However, this process has been rendered quite rebelious.
So, what I am trying now is to disable the "Location Based WiFi" built-in app from the Apps Settings (after having forcefully stopped it, of course) and waiting on to see if this application is the culprit.
Did you tried to disable (in Settings/Applications) wifi display mirroring and throw settings?
I have kicked off SomcWifiDisplay.apk and problem has gone. Of course my phone is rooted, if yours is not try to disable application in apps list.

Hmm, my phone is not rooted so that last suggestion is not an option, however I have searched for the mirroring and throw settings in the Apps settings and have only found "Screen mirroring", which I disabled as an application.
The problem seems to have become a lot less present. Yesterday I went almost through the whole day without it occurring once, but just as I plugged in the phone to charge it, the Wi-Fi turned on.
I have posted a similar thread to Sony's own forum, and they're telling me to repair my phone software with the PC Companion. I'm going to see how that goes and I'll report back to the community.

Tried that with repair already and problem in original untouched firmware disappeared for ... 2 days
Try to clear data of Smart connect, looks like misbehaving of Smart Connect (or at least this is less hurting decision).

Up to now I've had the problem virtually disappear; I had disabled the applications Location Based Wi-Fi and Screen Mirroring. Since I did it, my Wi-Fi only turned on once against my will when I connected my phone to the charger *—I didn't sweat it.
I am going to try your solution, and to be honest I'm quite offput by Sony's solution suggestion; I don't even use Windows/Mac plus I'd have to install the PC Companion.
Data cleared. Let's wait and see. :cyclops:

I am still hoping that your problem has gone. I do not have any more aces in my pockets beyond this. All my suggestions were based on my previous experiments.
Just clearing the Smart Connect's application data did not work for me. I enabled all Sony applications previously disabled and cleared the data of said application, but the problem returned. I have gone back to my workaround of disabling Location Based WiFi, Screen Mirroring and I have also disabled Smart Connect because these autoconnections have been all but smart.

GPS keeps turning on when screen turns on on device only

Hey everyone, my play services updated last night to 6.5.87. I keep my location on "device only" to tame the wakelocks and since the update my GPS icon turns on every time I unlock my screen. When I go to location it says that play services was using "high battery" location. This is really annoying as "device only" location was awesome for me. It would get rid of the npl location wakelocks and GPS worked great when I needed it without having to switch to "high accuracy". I'm running stock 5.0, unrooted. Has anyone encountered the same issue? Or can anyone that's running the same play services check if it occurs to you too? Thanks.
Are you using smart lock with location setup? If so that's why. Did the exact same thing to me when testing it. Even worse it never worked when in doors because the GPS couldn't ever see me.

Nope. I only have my moto 360 setup as a trusted device/smart lock. Trusted places is set as "none" That's why I'm so confused why it started happening.
I am getting this too. Haven't narrowed it down yet. Might be one of my greenified apps.

The thing is, if you look at location services, it tells you that google play services is the one that's requesting the GPS location.

Any way to have no password while on certain WiFi(s)?

I have a Sprint GS8+ (just bought today!! ).... On my S6, I had Xposed and a module called No Lock Home, which would allow me to have no password if I was on a trusted WiFi. Is this possible to achieve since there is no root+Xposed for the S8+? Thanks!
Go to the Play Store and download Tasker. It has a free trial but comes at a small price, like $3.99 I think, for use after the trial. Then use this tutorial.

You can do it based on the location using Smart Lock. Just search for it in settings. It's part of Android OS.
Smart lock, and then 'trusted places' or 'trusted devices'.
@Blis @kxdaorbit that's not what I'm talking about though, I already know about smart lock, I don't wanna always have to have my location either.
@kh4osX That doesn't work anymore. Notice how it's from 2012 lol.
Smart lock on location doesn't work.
I have found it to work one or twice but usually it doesn't.

S9+ Wireless charging problem, PLEASE HELP!

Hello,
My S9+ has a problem when using wireless charging, the phone will auto unlock.
Does anyone know the reason for this or it's just me having this issue?
I know in some cases the phone can use certain things as a "safe location" ... I forget what the feature is actually called, but for example when I connect to my Echo Dot or anything else via bluetooth it asks me if I want to set it as a trusted device and unlock automatically when connected. It does the same with locations too. You do have to tell it yes or not, though, it doesn't just automatically do it. I don't know if it would do it with wireless charging (never tried, doubt I will), so my guess is maybe it might have something to do with that?
Just googled it, and its called Smart Lock, and the things that unlock the phone are "trusted devices" and "trusted locations/places" ... maybe have a search in the settings for Smart Lock? See if its enabled and if anything is triggering it?

Thank you for your kind response,
But the wireless charger does not require to make any bluetooth connection with the cell phone, and it won't pop the window to ask you if you trust the device or not. I'll look up the Smart Lock to see if is that triggering it.

I know, but maybe something else, like location is triggering it or there is a setting that prevents it from being locked whilst on the charger. About the only thing I know of that automatically unlocks the phone is the Smart Lock though.
Are you using the Routines app from Good Lock? Perhaps you have a routine set up for "Charging" that is unlocking the phone (check the "While at Home" profile, for instance).
Sent from my SM-G965W using Tapatalk
When putting my phone on the charger, it wakes up the phone. You still have to swipe to get off the lock screen. Even with smart lock with my smart Watch, I still have to swipe to get off the lock screen.
Good Lock has a setting that will bypass that. I have it as part of my Car Mode for convience. When I connect to my car kit, it loads waze, restarts music, turns off wifi, "unlocks" phone, and makes text huge.
Good Lock is the only thing I've seen to disable the lock screen fully.

Question OP9 - Issues with Smart Lock?

Is anyone else using the Smart Lock feature and does it work for you?
If I enable On-body detection, that seems to work correctly. Trusted devices I haven't tried as I don't have any free BT devices to link to that aren't already paired with something else.
Trusted places however doesn't seem to work at all. It found my Home location that I have configured in Google Maps and I've enabled it, but no matter where I am around my home (inside or out), I'm still forced to unlock the device after swiping up. The radius is huge around the trusted location, so I can't imagine that it's an issue with GPS drift.
Op9 here and works perfectly on trusted devices . Quick as I hop in my car and it connects. I'll try trusted places and report back later tonight
Having the exact same issue, device and on body work. location does not.
Personally never thought location was a good idea. Other people you don't want in your phone can be in the same location. Just my 2 cents

This is true. However my phone receives incoming messages frequently throughout the day and the device is always on my desk in my home. It doesn't seem like much, but it's a bit of a pain to have to enter a code or even lean over for face detection to work.
Edit: Plus, face detection won't work if you're wearing a mask.
I was able to get it working.
Had to go into settings and give Google, Home and Maps apps Location access all the time.
Then clear storage on Google Play Services
And lastly if using a home saved location in google maps delete it and re add it.
