[Completed] should i update my firmware? - XDA Assist

i have a transformer 2 prime tf201 (unrooted) and was wondering if i should update my firmware. i dont want to run into any problems, or lose capabilities while updating. so i was wondering if it was worth updating my firmware, i am currently on
android version 3.2.1
GPS 5.7.12
wi-fi version 5.1.2.46
bluetooth version 7.26
camera version 0x9879
kernel version 2.6.36.3 [email protected] #1
build number htk75.us_epad-8.8.3.23-20111111
pad ec version tf201-pad-0211
mobiledock version not available

Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. I see you've posted this question in a number of different areas. It's really up to you. It does look like you can update to kitkat which has a number of advantages over what you are on now. Including security updates. Any time you update however, there is the possibility that you'll have to do a clean install which means you'll lose data and have to setup all your apps again.

[Q] Help on updating Xoom (Just bought now)

Hello. I just bought my motorla xoom. Its a pretty old tablet but i still prefer this than those galaxy tabs.
When i try to update, it says it has the latest version but then in the system it is still 3.2. How do you update this tablet? Is it not allowed yet?
Information on my tablet is:
Model Number:
MZ604
Android Version:
3.2
Firmware configuration version:
GAS_ASIA_HUBBLEWIFIHKTWNGEN_P007
Kernel version:
2.6.36.3-00042-g3c1a41e
[email protected] #1
Build Number
H.6.6-27
I hope someone can help me.. im just new at this..
I just bought mine too. It arrived today actually. It came with version 3.1, and, as soon as I went to software updates under Settings, it updated to version 4.0.4
I believe it depends on which country you are.
Unless you want to GEDify your Xoom (as I will do very very soon), then you will receive always the newest updates directly from Google.
BTW, I'm from Brazil.

It is rolled out to everyone in every country, bot NOT at the same time. One day you will get ICS and then JB...
Gedify comes from GED which stands for “Google Experience Device”. A “Google Experience Device” receives its updates directly from Google, without any customization or modification from the device manufacturer.
This is only possible if you flash the US version of Xoom's rom.
MZ604 here in Brazil, there in Philippines and in the US, is MZ604, so there's no problem doing that.
I'm doing it tomorrow!
BTW, if I helped you, hit the Thanks button!
It's done! And Jelly Bean is freaking amazing!

Hey man, i sent my xoom back since i had some problems with my macro shots.. they dont seem to focus well. and when i try it with flash, i only get white pictures. is that normal?
Can you also send me links on how to root-flash-GEDify xoom? if possible though without unlocking bootloader... thanks man...
Unfortunately I won't be able to help you with this... I rarely take photos... even with my Sony smartphone that has an awesome camera.
But I can take some photos to test and see if this is normal. Then I post here my views.
Rooting your xoom won't be possible without unlocking the bootloader. Unless you search for methods using exploits. But those methods didn't work for me but it might be worth a try. So unlocking the bootloader is the best way to root. It's save, pretty easy and you also have the ability to install a custom Rom later on to get jelly bean (I am currently running the cm10 nightlies)

Can you share your Firmware Version, Kernel Version and Build Number as well? After updating to 4.0.4, did your Xoom still have the "Quickoffice HD" app? What I have read from the forums is that GEDifying your Xoom would loose this app since the US-based Xoom does not have Quickoffice HD buddled with the device.

Version 4.1.1is the latest stock version there is. Check your build number. V10.4.2.20 is the latest build from Asus for most regions. If you're not running that version, you might get prompted to install its ota once you connect to the internet, or you can download it from their website.

[Q] Can someone help me update my GT 5110?

Hi
Im a Noob so what follows may be quiet obvious but still...
I own a Galaxy tab 2 10.1 Running 4.0.3 where new os version are already out for this but for specific countries. I Got mine From Germany.
Kernel version is 3.0.8-365113-user
[email protected] #1
Build number: IML74K.P5110XWALD2
So Can someone help me update to a more to date version of android without loosing warranty Plz.
Thx
Hello, I'm from Costa Rica and has the same problem when I try to do the update from the tablet, I was reading about some rooms as you said, but I found another article somewhere on the net.... What you need to do is download the kies synch program from the samsung web page.... Install it on your pc and download any update, also download the drivers, then connect your tablet and the system recognize the model etc. At this point the kies tell you that there is a new update for the tablet and you're set.

Hi, you have two ways for it:
1. See new original update on samsung-update com.
Download from site and install on your 5110
2. Download from samsung update new os version for italian or australian, install this os on you divice and check you native language (german, russian, chinese, etc ) and use .
From first way - you not loosing warranty.
From second way - you loosing warranty, but you always can downgrade you os to you original version 4.0.3

[Completed] Upgrading Android version of Asus Fonepad 6

Hello,
I want to upgrade my phone to newer android version, i found the new firmwares on the main site of asus, but my build number is ww_fonepad-10.16.1.28 and on the site there is only ww_fonepad-10.16.1.39. So my question is can use that firmware to upgrade it or it has to be exactly the same as my build number version?
Thanks for helping me out!

Here is a thread to install TWRP custom recovery, root the device and install a custom 7.1 nougat ROM. There may be other GT-7500 ROMs that you can use also, but, this one should work for you.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/complete-guide-to-root-update-samsung-t3724116
As long as your device is already working with your network/carrier, you shouldn't need to flash anything or modify anything to get the device radio/modem to work with your network after you flash the ROM.
