Depends on how you'll be carrying the screen around with you.
If it's just a stay at home tablet, theres no real point, unless youre the type that likes to use your screen as a coaster or like to put other things on top of it.
If your carrying it around in a backpack, bag, or by hand, or throwing it on your carseat, then you're probably better off using case, cover, or sleeve for it. At this point, a screen protector will be redundant.
It's not like you're going to be carrying this thing in your pocket or anything where it might get scratched. I would say get a screen protector only if you hate the idea of having to use a case or cover.

Im definitely putting a screen protector on immediately. Even if you use the tablet exclusively at home it can still get scratched. I had a piece of what looked like glitter on my n5 when i went to wipe it off it scratched the screen. I bought a 3 pack made by mr. Shield on amazon for 4 dollars to hold me off until I can get my hands on a good tempered glass protector. Once you have tempered glass on you cant even tell there is a screen protector, and youll never have to worry about scratches. Plus, tempered glass will add protection in case of a drop. Its a no brainer for me. Screen protectors all the way.

Ya, gorilla glass 3 prevents scratches from keys and such, but small stuff like lint or whatever that shiny little glitter piece was will scratch the hell outta it.
Not me, I've never put a screen protector on a tablet and don't plan on starting now.
I've had a Nexus 5 (also gorilla glass 3) in my pocket without any screen protection. Not a scratch on it. I'm going to buy a cover for when I carry the Nexus 9 but no screen protector.
I would say probably no need. I'm not using a screen protector on my nexus 7, and it's quite alright. (I have a case on it) but I never take it out of my house, nor really ever out of the living room. It all depends on what you are going to be using the thing for, though.
If it will put your mind at ease, I would recommend a glass screen protector, maybe from zagg, or a good plastic one, like from amfilm.
But like I said, I don't really use a screen protector on my tablet, and I dont really think that it is necessary for me.
I'm using an amfilm screen protector. Cheap, effective, and not noticeable at all.
I never use one on any device, for me it ruins the experience. Won't be getting one for my N9

you should!
I always use screen protectors on my phones because despite what people tell you about gorilla glass eleventy-billion, it can and most likely will scratch from pocket carry. It is amazing how effective little bits of sand can be at scuffing up glass.
That said, for tablets I usually have some sort of case so I dont use screen protectors on them.
My N10 never saw a protector and the screen is still in top condition.... so I won't start using protectors now... IMHO the whole screen protector business is a scam. Or for careless people.
Gorilla glass 3 can scratch. I saw a Samsung rep who kept his note 3 in his pocket with keys and everything (his work phone he didn't care for) and the screen was badly scratched.
When it comes to glass screen protectors, why not get one as a bit of security and piece of mind? It'll cost less than a 10th of the device and arguably offer some protection of the most important part?
Glass screen protectors can be installed with 0 bubbles which make them near invisible. Plastic screen protectors are **** though and difficult to apply without bubbles and are often grippy, making for a painful experience. I would rather go naked than use a plastic screen protector.
If you keep it in the house with no kids then you probably don't need one though.
I already ordered a tempered glass for mine. I know I'll take it to the beach to read from and things like that.
Plus I like the drop protection that the tempered glass will give it.

May I ask what was the product? I can't seem to find it for Nexus 9 (just previous models)...
Hey guys, My Z3 took a nasty fall onto some tile floor from about 4 feet, flat onto the ground. picked it up and sure enough it's shattered and touch doesn't work now.
$175 replacement, more disappointed in myself than anything.
I want to make sure the new screen is more protected, but I hate most screen protectors. I don't like that they're visible, and I don't like if they affect the viewing.
The best screen protector I've ever had the pleasure of using was actually the one preapplied to the Z1/s I used to have. Never even would have known it was there if not for reading about it on the internet. Is there a similar aftermarket protector I can get for my Z3?
Been thinking of Spigen but not sure.
The glass ones are very nice. They don't affect the screen, however they're very thick compared to the more conventional screen protectors.
Nillkin glass protector is perfect! You don't even see it! For real, and also comes with a back protector (really useful).

I have the nillkin as well, purchased the rear glass protector to go with it. The back definitely is not 'hard' as the front, I have several deep scratches that I can actually feel. The anti-finger print coating also sucks...
I wouldn't recommend getting the Nillkin back glass protector.
Glass protector FTW, it has saved my phone twice now. Defiantly recommend a case too, you won't even know it's there.
I have a nillkin glass protector but it's so thick that neither of my two gel cases fits properly over the area where it slightly wraps around the front of the phone.
I have a rhino shield on mine and I'm pretty happy with it.
went ahead with the niilkin, thanks for the advice guys.

Jinxed it. Dropped my phone today and the screen shattered... but the screen protector is basically fine save from a couple puncture holes =/
I hate to ask this question again, but it's really hard to find a screen protector that goes from edge to edge. This kind doesn't protect the whole screen.
Does anyone have a screen protector that goes from edge to edge? I don't care if it's plastic or glass, but hopefully, it's on amazon as I am trying to get one in the next few days instead the next few months. {Looking at you chinese sellers of ebay.}
I have this case by TPU Gel.

I didn't know that of glass protectors. How long does it take for the glass to break down from the corners?
I have only used a screen film or the plastic protectors once on my last phone for two years, and it held up quite well. But it did start to lose a layer or two of the screen protector after heavy use. But I don't mind this at all, I just need something to protect the phone and I'll replace it after another two years if I am still using said phone.
I am still looking for suggestions from people who has already bought protective screens for their Honor 8.

Isn't this the same thing as the two links below? Hopefully not, those reviews aren't that good. I saw that your link was posted before in another thread. I may just buy it as well, but I don't want to be without a protector for over a month.
https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Pr...80688022&sr=8-19&keywords=honor+8+screen+full
https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Co...80688022&sr=8-17&keywords=honor+8+screen+full
if u buy edge to edge u'll get it bricked fast cause it will be raised out of edges !if ur phone fall in any side it will brick ,
it should have small gap like couple millimeters before edge
I don't use plastic films since I know de glass protectors. Plastic films can't protect of a fall or big scratches. And it's very unconfortable !
With the glass : really good protection, the touch is very comfy, and the scratches even the big ones can't does anythig to the screen. BUT, when we have a screen like the one of the Honor 8 (it's called 2.5D, it's a bit curved) you can't have protection on the extremes edges cos they can't do a curved glass.
Sorry for my bad english.
I'm using a plastic film protector because the glass protectors cannot cover the entire screen.
I received mine with my Nilkin cover and have had it on for about a month and so far the scratches that are on it are very superficial and cannot be seen when the screen is on (and barely when it is off).
It's not as good as glass when it comes to scratch resistance but it sure does the job well.
Beware of cheap protectors as they wear out quicker according to my experience.

Buy this one. It is supposed to be soft and should cover the whole screen. Mine got delivered to the wrong address so I am ordering it again. The glass protectors are absolutely crappy for 2.5d edges. Https://www.aliexpress.com/item/For...i-explosion-screen-protector/32723814105.html
Get this case as well. I have it currently and its awesome. Doesn't add to the bulk and looks perfect on the phone. A lot better than the tpu one I ordered earlier.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Msv...oth-Matte-Cover-Hard-PC-Back/32749624891.html
Plastic is cheaper to bulk buy and if it scratches or the ends peel off it can be replaced, glass can crack easily depending on how much you're willing to spend on a screen protector and the brand name

I've attached a picture of the screen protector.
+1 for the Nilkin glass screen protector Doesn't quite cover edge to edge and about 1.5mm aren't fully adhered around edge leaving a bit of that 'halo' effect, but it doesn't bother me. Screen is well protected, the small gap is really just cosmetic.
Currently using it with This. The front edge is raised quite a bit so can't feel the edge of the screen protector at all.
So i received it today and I've put it now. It looks very cool. But unfortunately I put it a little bit wrong. Delivery time was around 20 days. I'm really happy

nice . hope that keeps ur phone out of scratches
I've watched at least 5 unboxing videos now and while every video seems to show a pre-applied screen protector on the phone, not a single person in the videos have commented on it or blatantly showed them removing it.
The initial unboxing/review videos seem to all agree that the OnePlus 6 comes with a smoke clear TPU case in the box. So if it does have a pre-applied screen protector, that means you'd essentially have full protection right out of the box, which is pretty awesome!
Just curious to hear from those who may have unboxed one or someone from OnePlus to hear whether or not a screen protector is already applied or not. I know it won't be tempered glass but it's better than nothing. hing.

Awesome!
I also just confirmed the same in this video @ 9:30
https://youtu.be/ES-s9KQrUTY?t=574
^ It's actually really cool to see the entire process.
To add, I'm still using the 5T preinstalled protector. It's already scratched up for me but it's applied so well and pretty decent quality, unsure why everyone doesn't pre-apply it.
The pre-applied screen protector and included case is probably one of the nicest things a manufacturer can do for its customers, especially when its service network is not very developed. Not to mention that the included case looks pretty good from what I have seen, plus the screen protector looks to be very well applied.
I got the standard flexible you case and the screen protector applied. It's done as part of the manufacturing process. Video by Linus tech tips gives really good insight at their factory
So you don't need to buy the 40$ protection bundle since it already comes with case and screen protector ?

Most probably not, but again the screen protector and case can scratch more easily than the premium stuff. My case is already scratched up at the back, so I ordered another one from Amazon.
The cheap case is very thin and might protect your phone from say a 4 foot drop where it might only survive 3 feet 6 inches without it. For me, it's just a bridge until I can get a proper rugged case, probably in a month or two minimum.
My phone arrived this morning with the Nylon Bumper Case. I must say that I'm absolutely loving the Nylon case. And the pre-applied protector is pretty darn good. Nice and smooth, like glass. Overall it is installed very well. The pre-applied protector isn't sticking around the very tips of each corner, but it will do the job until I decide which direction to go with a tempered glass protector in the next couple of weeks.
I'm still considering ordering the OnePlus tempered glass protector but a few people have reported that it is extremely difficult to apply properly and a couple people have mentioned that the oleophobic coating on it is practically nonexistent.
Regardless, it's really nice to see a phone manufacturer providing a pre-installed screen protector out of the box. Saves us from wasting money on poor quality glass screen protectors that just happen to have made it to market before the good stuff. Kudos to OnePlus for that!

Yep. got my OP6 yesterday and it has the pre-applied protector. It will definitely do the job until I figure out which tempered glass protector is best, over the coming weeks. Very pleased to have full protection right out of the box. Especially since I'm leaving for a 9 day vacation tomorrow and didn't want to rush into buying some lower quality protection, simply because it came to market before the good stuff.
Yes, the OnePlus comes with a pre-applied screen protector! The quality is good, but dust fill the edges of this protector so I have removed it...

I have ordered OnePlus 6 today.. And waiting that would come tomorrow.. This time it's almost 95 percent glass so protector would be must need to keep the device mint, especially for the BACK!!
So Let me start of the thread for the OnePlus 6 Screen Protector.
I have ordered OnePlus 6 Full body screen protector from the Gadgetshieldz.
And I hope this time it's merely impossible to get the best TGP soon. Please let know your suggestions.
Finally got my Gadgetshieldz protectors and applied it. The protector is fitting well and all the holes are perfect. Important part is, its providing lot of grip to the OP6 which is very slippery without the protector. Might go for a Tempered Glass for the screen if I find a decent one but the back protector is a keeper. Take a look at the images of the protectors applied on my OP6. Can't go wrong with these for a low price.

What is the difference between the protective case and the bumper?
I think bumper protects the screen better. But if you use a tempered glass you cannot use bumper as the covered lips of the bumper will damage the tempered glass.

I ordered the phone with the Nylon bumper case. I almost pulled the trigger on the tempered glass protector as well but I was worried it wouldn't fit with the bumper case and it appears I was right.
The great news is that this phone comes with a pre-applied plastic screen protector. So the screen will be protected right from the beginning. This will buy us time for the release of more tempered glass protectors that may fit with bulkier cases like the nylon bumper case.

With the ultimate bundle, you get the choice of bumper case and tempered glass. It wouldn't make sense to bundle them if they didn't work together, but who knows. The strange this is that the bundle that includes only a case and glass, doesn't offer a bumper case.
I have the bundled case and the sandstone. Both fit with the OnePlus tempered glass. I would guess the bumper does too having looked at it in the shop but not 100% as I didn't put it on.
Since they sell the bumper and the tempered glass together and there are no notes in the tempered glass that it does not work with the bumper case, i am really hoping that you can use the 2 together since that is what i bought. if they don't work together, i will have to send the bumper back.

I did not have experience with this particular brand but ordered from AliExpress for $3.50 each about six months ago for my Samsung Galaxy S8+. It's been six months w/o a screen protector and not a single scratch insight. I don't have the rough use of my phone but don't baby it either.
