Lockscreen bug - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've got a random glitch that I can't pic down, and I haven't been able to find a solution. Randomly, my lockscreen reverts to "no security" and I have to rechoose which lockscreen I want to use. Also, USB debugging gets unchecked. It happens every few days. I'm on my MetalRom, but it has done it on stock too. Could be app related, but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this too.

After some testing, this seems to occur after using kids mode. I'm not sure why, but my wife's stock unrooted s5 does not do this.

Usb debugging can be set in build.prop persist.mode.usb=1 or something like that, don't remember exactly. Don't know about the other issue. I've heard issues with fingerprint security but I can't recall about that one exactly either.

I have that edit in my build.prop, the lockscreen one is strange.

I was wrong, I do not have that in my build.prop. Lol

[Q] Random issues.

I didn't think this would be a development thread so i'm starting it here. This is just some of the random issues I'm having.. and was wondering if anyone else was having these or any other issues.
The unknown notification on lockscreen is apparently for other people too.. and i've noticed it's dealing with the stock messaging app. Has anyone figured out how to turn off the counter on the stock launcher for the stock messaging app if you're using a different app like Handcent?
Random lockups. My phone will not come out of sleep.. or i won't be able to unlock it. nothing will be on the screen and i have to pull the battery in order to do anything.
random FC of an app.. or just not even notified of the FC just get this vibrate then double vibrate and everything crashes back to the home screen. First did it when i started setting up the device. and done it a few times since. I've also had one time that was continuous of "vibrate...double vibrate" over and over and over and over.. you get the picture.. and i had to pull the battery.
Is anyone else having these issues or anything similar? Or should I run back to the store and exchange this sucker?

No problems here at the moment, had it about a week and havent seen any of the problems you are mentioning. But this is just for me.
I get this hard crash (vibrate... double vibrate... soft reboot) at random times. It seems to be when I'm running several apps at once. For example, driving to work,I use (Google) Navigation and Doggcatcher for playing podcasts, while GPS and Bluetooth are both enabled.
These apps have been rock solid for me with the 5 other Android phones I've had. Besides, the crashes happen with other combinations of apps. Come to think of it, audio playback is usually (always?) involved, be it with Xiia or the stupid built-in music app.

that's what i've been noticing. but sometimes i'm not even running many apps. i haven't put much on the phone since i've been having these issues, but these apps work perfectly even on my G1. i think i'm just having odd issues with my phone pretty sure its getting exchanged on monday.
I hav the odd vibrating too...Not sure if I should return the phone or not.

i think the "odd vibrating" where its a single vibration.. then 2 quick vibrations.. is a sign of an FC.. not 100% sure.. but thats what i see going on when it happens to me. I've also noticed when i'm outside and thinks i'm selecting things or moving the trackball thing. always to the right.. i think my phone is faulty..

I get the double vibrate and bam, FC's. Usually when im trying to open up and or lots of stuff at once on my phone or using a different launcher "adw" or others and it would happen. Wheres the fix ey.
is anyone having a problem with notifications? i use GoSms, and it doesn't seem to sound the ringtone i have selected, the message just comes in silently..... and same with Beejive IM, and i think K9 mail. all these things worked perfectly on my EPIC 4G.
i was using handcent.. and it was working fine.. minus the unlock screen unknown notification. but everything else has been making sounds just fine.

Dang ok, well I may have to unroot mine if possible, and take it back, haha. So I'll be watching for a response to your question in the other thread.
Edit: I fixed my notifications..... somehow my notification volume had been turned all the way down, so I wasn't getting any sounds for texts, emails, etc. Not sure how it got turned down, but sometimes I guess settings can get jarred by various things we do to our phones.

annoying little quirk with phone

anyone else have this issue.
EVERY time i end a phone call it goes to my lock screen and when i unlock instead of going to my desktop it goes to my data menu (2g-3g, wifi etc).
doesnt hurt anything but it is annoying as hell.
anyone else have this issue and know what it is.
I am running stock rooted, with a few diff apps and widgets that may affect things but cant be sure.
thanks
I'm on stock rooted and I don't have that problem at all.
Try to trace back the last time it acted normal and find out what did you do afterwards (installing new apps, changing setting and so on)
Like the GoSMS problem recently where calls were routed to the speaker...
yea i was trying to fig that out. It might be my data widget messing it up. I have no proof and hope its not but i may have to remove it to see if it helps.
well i uninstalled most of my recent apps and removed he widgets but that didnt solve it.
might have to restore AGAIN. doesnt affect anything but its annoying as hell.

[Q] Settings Not Being Saved

I'm wondering if anyone else is has this problem. Every time I plug in my phone, the USB debugging option turns on. I turn it off in developer settings, but it turns back on as soon as I plug it in.
Also, I change my screen timeout to 1 minute but when I restart the phone, it turns back to 30 seconds. I already tried the fix permissions option in Recovery and it didn't work. I'm using the Viper ROM if that helps.
Also, I always turn Auto Sync "on" under settings but it turns itself back off.
Anyone else with the same problem?
Anyone?
There's a known bug with some settings not sticking on reboot if I recall but what your describing does not seem to be this bug. Typically when weird little issues like this are happening, step one is to redownload and check md5 wipe everything and do a fresh flash. Obviously this would be a big issue, well documented for a ROM as popular as Viper XL so I would say no, other people are not experiencing this issue.
Thanks anyway. I'll Google it some more and see if I find something

Weird issue with accessibility settings

So I'm on a US Unlocked HTC One A9 on 7.0, unmodified.
Every time I reboot or shutdown, all accessibility settings are turned off when I start my phone up. Some apps I use like Tasker, Navbar Apps, and Status need this to work properly.
Does anyone know why this happens and how I can fix it? I wasn't having this issue on 6.0.1
Necro bump I know, but if you stumble upon this issue in the future, it has to do with Boost+, just whitelist the apps and problem should be fixed. Just thought I'd post the fix for any who may have the issue.

Lockscreen notifications?

Is there any way to get lockscreen notifications on this device?
I had a similar issue.
Although I did fix it on some level, still there is and issue some times and when I remove the lockscreen, the notifications are swarming.
Which is the phone version? 2.11 or 2.19?
I am on version 2.19. How did you fix the issue?
Just settings of the applications and permissions.
But still, the issue partially persist as I described in my previous post.
Is your phone rooted?
Yes, I am rooted. App settings did not change anything.
It's odd cause the rest didnt complain from that issue.
As far as I can see it's not a common issue.
What I notice is that, application which counts on the google framework do that.
Probably we didn't make something correctly as it should.
What launcher are you using by the way?
I use Nova, but not even using the nubia launcher changed a thing. There is an option to display notifications on the lockscreen in the notification settings, but it does nothing.
I installed a bunch of chinese apps. Could this bei the problem?
