Im noticing that whenever i get a notification, it just shows up in the status bar ticker style like it did in kitkat.
Did Sammy get rid of heads up!?
Mine shows up heads-up, though, except for a while it reverted to the ticker.
I wish I could get those tickers though. MUch less distracting.
Yeh seriously. I'd love to get the tickers back, hate the new heads up...

Is there any way to disable heads up notification on cm12?? I personally dislike heads up notification because it gets in the way of the current app that I am using. I like to check the notification bar myself. They should have made it transparent at least... And an option to turn off under the developers menu ?
There is no option to disable it just yet.
I hate them too.
With HeadsOff lollipop heads-up notifications can now be disabled!
No root needed.
You can also restore the ticker text in the statusbar!
Give it a try:

To be honest, Heads up notifications are one part of Lollipop that show me how unfinished Android is and how uncomfortable it can be (also compared to iOS, which I don't really like)
I mean, basically its a good idea to see whats in your notifications, but I would make two changes to it:
1. small notifications when in selected apps: For example, you are in a game. you don't want to disable the heads up completely for this app, but it shouldnt be so big. so it could be just one line, very small and not disturbing. like a ticker, with the height of the statusbar.
2. The heads up notification should go down into the notification bar when you pull it down. Would be a simple but good looking animation. Atm, at least on touchwiz roms, when you pull the notification bar down while a heads up notification is on screen, the notification bar is behind the heads up. Very ugly.
What do you think?
I agree, very annoying..

i also hated it... but when i successfuly installed xposed on my device, i changed it's timeout for 2 seconds with gravitybox. after it I don't think it's a problem anymore and I don't need to pull the notification panel to see notifications. the problem is the timeout not heads up itself.
Yeah GravityBox through Xposed can help.
Hope Google might change this in final build of Android M.
Currently my status bar will show about 4-5 notification icons before it shows the "dot dot dot" icon meaning there are more notifications but no room to show them. When this happens there is still a ton of space left to show more icons. Unfortunately the icons that do display are usually persistent ones, so when I get notifications that I actually care about I'm unaware until I pull down the notification pane.
Is there any way to change this behavior so that emui continues to display new notification icons instead of hiding them?
No way to remedy this I guess - bummer, it's my only real complaint about this phone (EMUI I guess). Constantly have to be pulling my notifications panel down, otherwise I miss notifications because they don't all display in the notification bar.
Sorry if this has been asked, I searched but didn't find anything. I like to have my status bar nice and clean and just rather see my notifications on my lock screen or drop down menu.
Running Android 10 on a Pixel 3. I would still like to receive notifications but I would like my status bar just to show the time on the left side. I know you can silence notifications and hide them from the status bar but I still would like to get notifications in the same way other than seeing the icon on the status bar.
Thanks
Hey guys. Quick question, is there a way to remove the status bar permanently, like with the wm overscan trick, but then still be able to swipe down from the top of the screen for the notification shade?
I have mine hidden already, but each time I get a heads up notification the status bar space shows above it, looks ugly. Also when I swipe down it brings up the status bar first and then I have to swipe again to get my notification shade. I'd appreciate any tips. Thanks
