Hi guys I'm new to xda I Just bought it on the playstore. I'm looking to root my phone so I may use certain aps on the playstore that require rooting. I've tried looking around for advise and instructions on how to do it but haven't been able to find anything really useful. if someone could point me in the direction of some threads that could assist me I would greatly appretiate it. as I said I'm looking for a thread with rooting instructions aswell as maybe some as advise threads ie dangers, what aps I should get before I start doing anything, etc. thankyou in advance
Thank you for using XDA Assist. There are many variants to the S5 so we'd have to know which one you have before recommending anything.
sm -g900i is the model number is that what you need?
Yes, that's what we need. Unfortunately there is nothing specific about your device on XDA. To root you could try these, http://www.xda-developers.com/root/ But before doing so make sure you know where to find and use your stock firmware.

I am currently running Baja ROM kitkat on my Verizon note 3. I have already posted to the Q+A but nobody seems to be able to help over there. Here's a link to my other post with more info about my issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792646 sorry for posting twice I just can not find a way around this problem and having no apps sucks.
Hi there,
I'm sorry to inform you but XDA Assist is not a place where you have something like an helpdesk.
The mission of XDA Assist is to provide basic help to those who have tried searching but can't find what they are looking for and need assistance. This is not a "helpdesk" providing technical assistance but more to point you in the correct direction with your problem. Perhaps you can't find posts on how to root your phone, install custom recovery or maybe you have questions about how to navigate and use features on the site.

And seems you know where to ask, but you must only to wait an answer for that error.
In other way, enter in recovery, wipe cache%dalvik and flash GApps again.
Good luck
PS: I will close this thread.
I know very little about android. So please help me. Thank you
How to trim a ROM?
Hi there,
Can you be more specific?
Also please see the purpose of XDA Assist forum bellow:

Our XDA Assist team will give you links to threads/forums that are relevant to your problem. You may be pointed towards guides and instructions that can be quite complex, so you will still need to read carefully and be cautious before attempting to make software changes to your device. It is essential you are in the correct forum for your device model; what works for one can ruin another.

Hi
What you do with your device is up to you. No one here can tell you what you should do. Perhaps if you were more clear on what you want from your device, people could offer suggestions.
But please, supply that extra information and post here in this dedicated help thread in your device section,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700073
Also explain how you rooted, and if you have a custom recovery... Etc. The more details you provide, and clearer picture of what your goals are, the easier it will be of people to offer suggestions.
Good luck!
heres what I did

I rooted the S5 with the how to instructions from this site. When I did that root I did install titanium backup and super U, I never installed safe strap as I don't know how I just purchased a new Sim card for the phone and was wondering what I had to have on it to have it work right.
Again, post in the thread I linked for help. ?
Hi, I have a Samsung galaxy tab 3 (SAMSUNG-SM-T217A 4.4.2 KOT49H.T217AUCUBNI2) and I would really love to root my device. I've heard kingo root would work for it but I've had no such luck with both the app and the windows application. If anyone could give me some insight I would be eternally grateful. My goal is to get root, get a custom recovery, and then hopefully flash some custom ROMs to it. Once again I am extremely grateful for any help anyone can give me. Thank you for your time, XDA.

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
Sorry to hear about your trouble but we cannot provide technical support nor can other members reply to your posts here on XDA Assist. Fortunately there is an XDA area dedicated to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3 which would be a good starting place. I suggest you post your question with all relevant details in the friendly Q&A forum there at http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3/help where the experts familiar with your device will be best able to guide you.
Good luck!
I believe I've managed to root my galaxy core prime sm-g360f lte with kingo root, but don't know what to do now!
I'm trying to remove bloatware on my device and find/install some custom themes, but cant find out how online. I've found a lot of info talking about roms? and many warnings of compatibility? I'm simply lost with all this and don't really know what any of it means? I'm In need of some guidance!
Thanks in advance for anyone who decides to help a noob lost in the 'root' woods
