Hi,
I'm collector and still WM user and the WM Forum is almost dead so i ask in general.
My favorite phone is the Diamond cause it's so small and i'm not the guy who likes to carry 4.3" or 6" around in his pocket.
But there is one drawback with the Diamond and that is speed.
But i also have a Topaz (Diamond2) and it's much faster.
The only difference is the RAM this two phones have but then on the Diamond1 i have 70 MB free and only 36% is used.
I'm running 6.1 on the Diamond and 6.5.3 on the Topaz.
Is 6.5.x faster then 6.1? Can't be cause i have 6.1 on my HD2 and damn thats fast.
I'm talking just about WM and not Sense/Manila cause i don't use it.
Or is it the ROM that makes such a big difference?

Hey guys can someone help me out. I'm really confused which one amoung these two HTC TyTN II or HP IPAQ 610c sholud i go for. I love both the models. Can someone suggest which one is the best. HP IPAQ 610c will be releasing this october.
Question is: do you wan to have PDA integrated in a phone or Do you wan to have Phone integrated in a PDA.
I would go with HTC TyTN II which is HTC_kaiser
TytnII FTW
It has a full keyboard, the same quality cam and amount of ram
the kaiser is slightly less powerfull (520mhz verses 400mhz) but thats not really noticiable, specially if theres a overclocker coming
I like the IPAQ 600 because of its flash/led light (needed to take pictures by night)
my minimum requirement:
-attractive in look
-vga [so that i can read pdf files in good quality]
-wifi & bluetooth
-good multimedia [atleast better then nokia n 70 ]
-atleast 2MP camara and unlimited video recording capacity
-no ram problems or memory full problems like sucking nokia s60 phones
-basic applications should be available [compatible] for that pda
- Pocket Office(Word, Excel, Outlook, PDF viewer)
- Java MIDP 2.0
-good speed [atleast better then nokia s60]
-price around 14-18000INR [350-450USD]
-4gb memory card should be available

HTC does not have many VGA offerings. but its not the end of the world with qvga.
I started a thread recently for my self that could answer some of your questions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1970736
maybe flame
maybe sonyE's upcomming x1
I've been looking hard to find a device to upgrade my Trinity to a VGA device and the sad thing is there really isn't anything decent out there right now and hardly anything worthwile coming out, at least from what's been announced.
HTC, forget it they don't have anything in a small form factor that's VGA. Too bad, the Touch Cruise would have been absolutely perfect if it had a VGA. The only thing that could have made that better was if it had a Capacitive VGA touch screen.
E-Ten has some VGA devices but they only have 64 Megs of ram and it's poorly used, you end up with an average of about 12 Megs running which can make it painful to use. Not to mention its quirks like not being able to power off the device like HTC devices by holding the Power Button down, lots of little things like that.
Imate Ultimate Series, all except the 8502 are VGA but most are lacking in GPS if that's a feature you are looking for and they are bigger than most devices if size matters. Not to mention Imate seems to be in trouble, their current rom is very buggy, support seems limited and the battery life is terrible.
O2 Flame as mentioned by Rudegar is a posibility but I believe it's TriBand, that's a problem for me as I'm in North America but if you don't need the extra band, it's worth considering.
The Xperia also mentioned by Rudegar pretty much has everything and goes behind VGA with an 800x400 resolution but it's not available yet. Personally I'm not a big fan of slide out querty keyboards, I find them to big and combersome to use with two thumbs but given the deminsions are about the same as the O2 Flame, I'd choose this over the Flame if I couldn't find anything smaller.
The Gigabyte GSmart MS808 has potential, don't know the diminsions but the current specs seems to indicate it has everything you are looking for. Haven't had any experience with Gigabyte but people seem to like them so it's worth taking a look at. Again, it's not available until later this year though.
Bottom line, nothing out there that's really worth it right now in the VGA market. If you can wait I'd hold off until later this year, I think we'll be seeing a lot of new devices coming out with VGA, even HTC should be moving towards VGA as their leaked new Touch Flow (Manilla) seems to indicate.
Personally I've been seriously considering jumping Windows Mobile and moving over to an Iphone for a while. Now that they are building in ActiveSync support with push email into the next firmware. I'd have to get used to a lot of limitations, no camera, gps, basic functionality ect. that I don't have know but the capactive touch screen!!! I really wish there was a Windows Mobile device out there that used this technology. Once you use it, it makes it really hard to go back to a resitive touch device almost unbearable!
I'd really wish there was a VGA Windows Mobile device that had it all for me the absolute minimum of any device should be
Small Slim Form Factor
Good Battery Life
TriBand HSDPA/HSUPA
Quadband GSM
400 Mhz Proc.
VGA Display
256 Megs Rom
128 Megs Ram
GPS
3Mp Camera/VGA Camera (Video Calls)
Bluetooth
Make that screen Capacitive and it would be the best device out there!
" Personally I'm not a big fan of slide out querty keyboards, I find them to big and combersome to use with two thumbs but given the deminsions are about the same as the "
nor am i a fan of keyboards but other then that which one could just not use the x1 looks pretty sweet so far
a non VGA device thats interesting is the new
MWg Atom V.
http://www.expansys.ca/d.aspx?i=164854
its an all-in-one with an attractive design.
draw backs are:
qvga
64 ram
minimalistic 6 buttons- 2 for calling
and maybe price.

Aside recent rumors that SE Xperia will be on At&T so that will give us in NA the option of plenty unlocked X1's in early 2009.
ASUS is also bringing exciting new devices that that are the size of an IPhone with a 2.8" screen
Hi all,
Like most, I am really happy with my TyTN II but seriously considering upgrading to the Touch Pro - mainly for the VGA screen and snazzy interface.
BUT....should I really consider this as a "upgrade"?
So, all you lucky / proud (or not?) Touch Pro owners out there.....please can you help me determine the differences I am likely to encounter (good and bad!) when switching from my TyTN II to the Touch Pro?
Hopefully, this thread should then serve as a good resource for similar users.
Cheers!
Ringy
Will help me out too, as i have an xda orbit and up for renewal in a few weeks, the tytn II is easily available on O2/T-mobile, where as nobody really knows whats going on with the touch pro. Maybe i should forget about the touch pro and just get the kaiser ( stellar/vario 3 ), afterall its still an upgrade from my orbit.
It's hard NOT to consider it an upgrade: much more ram, nice interface (if you like it), VGA screen and faster processor. Less important might be modern look.
drawbacks: no tilt keyboard, smaller keys (but more additional digit-line), less keys on the outer shell (I really miss camera button and comm manager button, and others might miss the roller).
For now this is quite an early stage in ROM development, but I must say that even original ROM is really fast and really stable (no other PPC before: I had BlueAngel and Hermes - was even close to this in the begining).

You can look at specs of each device there and compare.

I'm a bit confused here and I'm sure you experts can help.
I've been watching videos of the Kaiser and have been impressed with how much better it runs Slingplayer than my Diamond.
I've tried lots of ROMs and none have resulted in the Slingplayer software running as well as I saw it on the Kaiser Youtube clip.
The CPU Clock on the Diamond is faster and since it is the same manufacturer I'd have thought it would be a more powerful CPU.
Given that the Diamond has more RAM why does the Kaiser give the impression that it is more "powerful" than the Diamond .
Is it more "powerful"? If so why?
Thanks in advance.
Some argue that due to the Diamond having 4x as much resolution, the processor should be 4x as powerful as the Kaiser to achieve the same performance. I personally believe this to be a flawed argument for the simple reason that the HTC Universal was VGA too and it can achieve lightning fast speeds equivalent and faster than Kaiser. It has a 520Mhz Intel processor, but has a meager RAM of 64MB! A ROM just needs time to idealise. My Elfin is more faster than my Diamond at the moment. As I say, just give it a little time to perfect.
Interesting. Does the Diamond and other WM devices really have this adaptive capability. I agree about the VGA issue. I had thought about it but forgot about it briefly when posting. It begs the question, can the Diamond be made to run QVGA? I'd prefer it as VGA seems overkill on such asmall screen (IMHO of course )
It's not so much the phones having an adaptive capability so much as it is ROMs being adapted to the phones.
As for your question about VGA, then I do not know, though if such a thing was possible I would be shocked that I didn't know about it up till now (even though I wouldn't have any intention of utilising such a program).
Surprised what you say about the Universal achieving lightning speeds, mine is really stodgy and slow with a 6.1 rom as well!
Any more thoughts on this matter?
Hi mates
I have omnia and i love winmo but touch sensitivity in omnia not good for me.
i plan to buy a new windows mobile , i cant decide wich one is better .
I know HD2 is the best but I DONT LIKE THE SIZE OF HD2 ITS SOO BIG FOR ME :-( .
I want to buy a windows mobile with :
1.Powerfull cpu,ram
2.Best touch sensivity
3.Best battery life
4.Goooood software support
now wich phone you prefer to me ?
( HD-mini,OMNIA2,OMNIA PRO,..... or others )
or a android phone with this specifications .
Thaaaaanks
Well, after seeing Reviews for the HD-Mini, it's actually a terrible device. Plus, the HVGA Resolution is like a black-sheep... Almost NO Apps work with the Resolution.
If you want a decent phone, with all of the traits you listed above, I'd recommend either a Touch Diamond 2 or a First Edition Touch Diamond.
The specs are almost 100% the same, but the Touch Diamond actually has slightly better performance & battery life than it's successor (Touch Diamond 2).
The same thing can be said about the Touch Pro and the Touch Pro 2.
wich one is best in software support ?
OMNIA2 or DAIMOND2
I'd actually recommend you get a HTC HD2 since you want something thats got a good touchscreen, powerful CPU/Lost of RAM, Good Battery Life & Software Support.
The HD2 has all of that AND has an enormous screen.. and to support this it has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor (CPU), 448mb of RAM and 5 hours of battery life.
My friend actually bought one and i fiddled around with it and i was absolutely blown away by how responsive his touchscreen was.. i think its a capacitive screen relative to what im used to which (Resistive). It also has multitouch capabilities lol.
Maybe a HTC Desire if you are intrested in android (3.7 inch) or an X10 xperia
Stick with HTC devices like the Diamond2 or the Desire depending on your needs.
which one have more app ?
OMNIA2 or DAIMOND2
Honestly, the Diamond 2.
