Keeping your Phone responsive - HTC One S

Hey guys. So after some time I had to come back to my one s and decided to flash some 5.0.2 goodness. Now that this is working I'm asking myself: How do you keep your One Sses responsive. Lolipop is a lot to handle for a phone that age, but it lags so much, im considering going back a fev steps. Do you have any tricks to run Lollipop fast and still not drain the battery like crazy?
Thanks in advance!

Lollipop doesn't drain the battery more or less than previous versions of android...
Which rom / kernel do you actually use? Have you checked your battery stats which app needs most energy? May be gapps are buggy.

Best battery saving rom

Hello guys !
My One S' battery is dying It cant even last for a day now .. So to begin with, i would like to try out some rom that is the most battery saving friendly out there !
I have already tried out the CM11 rom, but this only helps a little compared to the other rom i've tried (Magio something)
Is there any other rom out there you can recommend?
Thanks !
I recommend the viper sense 5 Rom, the battery life is awesome and the Rom looks very nice and works like a charm

Battery drain depends on usage. I've been using TwistedKat for the past 3-4 weeks and I'm gonna stick with it. Developer is always on and making great strides when he updates and it's rock solid. Battery usage for me is really good. Using the phone normally I'll take the phone off the charger around 7:30am and put it back on the charger before going to bed around 11pm and I'm usually always above 50%...
Don't know if that helps you, just my .02...
You also might want to try another Kernel...

Try this: TwistedKat. It's a 4.4.2 ROM based on SlimRom. Battery life is very good for AOSP, plus the ROM is very stable. The developer puts in a lot of hours and releases updates quickly.
Make sure to do a clean install.
Cheers

CyanogenMod battery life

hey guys. I just bought an Nexus5(well...like 1 motnh ago actually) and I realized that I think I like CyanogemMod better then the default android(used cyanogen mod on my Galaxy S1 for 3 years).
My question is, how is the battery life on CyanogenMod compared to the stock default android 4.4.2 rom that nexus comes with?
Thnx in advance.

There's no good answer to your request imo.
You should check this out to have an idea of the average battery life. (or have a look at CM11's thread)
For instance you can install more apps thanks to root permissions so you will be able to install more apps and use more battery but it doesn't mean that the battery life is worse.
One advantage is that you can try different kernels and settings to find the best configuration as per your needs.

As with any battery life comparison, it's almost impossible to answer properly because there are far too many variables.
You'll get various answers saying it's much better / worse / the same. Ultimately the responses will be of limited value to you, because everyone's usage is different.
Thankfully you can always backup and try something out. Revert if if makes things worse.
Find out what's best for YOUR usage and preference, not someone else's...
And repeat this for every device / ROM / kernel combination
Battery life is what you make of it. I can make my phone last 8 hours or around a day and a half.
to prolong battery life I recommend turning off mobile data and sync when not in use. You can look into tasker (I think) to turn it on at specific times. Quick tiles help out or the app "power toggles" which I use
Ok, thnx guys. I think I will make an nanDroid backup and install cyanogen mod and see what happens.

Flashing and testing is the solution.

[Q] Phone is Lagging and Overheating Constantly - Want to Install Custom Rom - Which?

Hi there,
I am sort of new to rooting and have never installed a custom android operating system or ROM yet. I would like to put on something with Android 5.0 if possible, but if none are out yet, which is the best ROM to put on my LG G3, and a tutorial to do it?
I want to use all of the eatures of the phon still as well.
Are there lollipop ROMS out yet for this phone, and if not should I wait for it?
Thank for your help.

I too am using Cloudy and find that the top half of the phone doesn't heat up as much. There's an eco mode you can turn on as well. Not sure it that's what's going the trick, but I've kept it on because the battery life is great now.
As for the lag, have you tried flashing Pure Performance X? It's made all the ROMs I've tried snappier (including Cloudy).

I'm using Viper for my third day now. The first day the battery drained really fast as google processes was raelly active, but the last two days ive gotten over 4 hours of screen on time easily and it's definitely been an improvement over stock for me. I havent played any games but phone did not get hot watching youtube vids.
I am not familiary with pure performance X, looks interesting though.

Newbie here

Hello everyone I have just joined this forum about two days ago. I own a oneplus one which i found to be one of the finest smartphones until CM12 came along. It seems to me that CM12 ruined battery life of the oneplus. With CM11 battery life was much better, even charging time was not more that 2hrs max. Now I have read the forums that many oneplus owners experienced the same issues.
Now the thing is that I do not have any experience in how to root my my phone or install kernels and other stuff. Is there anything that would help my phone to have a similar battery life of CM11?
Thanks

I take it you haven't unlocked your boot loader yet?
Unfortunately 5.0+ seems to be a bit poorer in the battery dept for most people. Most are hoping 5.1.1 helps the battery life, if not we'll have to hope for android M whenever that arrives. If you had an unlocked b/loader and custom recovery you could tryout some custom roms. Or even flash a 4.4.4/kitkat rom as many (including myself) have done. I had installed multirom and have been running COS12 as the main rom and CM11S on the secondary. The battery life was/is so much better, I was hitting 5-6hrs screen on time over 2days from a full charge, with lollipop I was hitting 4-5hrs screen on time over 1-1.5 days at a stretch., the standby drain is also a lot more.
If you havent already done so you could try checking privacy guard and denying wake up and keep awake permissions to google play services or anything else that seems to be active a lot in the background that you think shouldnt.

No I never unlocked anything. the phone is just unrooted. What I only is just change themes, which seems also to be buggy. So is it possible to revert back to CM11s? Are COS12 and CM12 the same or different please?

It isnt possible without unlocking your bootloader, see the below guide if you want to look at that option. It seems a lot of hassle but once its unlocked, thats it, it wont lock again unless you specifically go through running a command to do so. As an added advantage you can install a custom recovery which will allow you to make a full nandroid backup, which you can keep on your device or copy over to your PC. You can use this if you ever run into any problems or if you want to try out some other roms, you have the option to go fully restore your last setup.
I dont think I've had any issues with themes, is it one in particular or all, what happens?
I believe we are referring to the same thing, COS12 (Cyanogen OS 12) is what the oneplus one runs out of the box (stock Cyanogen OS). CM12 which is what it also gets called can also mean the CM12/12.1 nightlies, which can be flashed like a custom ROM and are considered the most up to date (on the bleeding edge if you like).

CrDroid Oreo version for Mi4c

How is your opinion about this ROM.
It is very good and customizable with a ton of options.
Only thing that is boring sometimes is lag when open apps. Waiting for 4-5 seconds to.open it.
Does someone know how to avoid that lag?

You can try to install the hate kernel, because their cpu scheduling is different, it may improve your experience.

I haven't found an Oreo ROM for 4C that equals a Nougat ROM ( for example, AEX or RR) in terms of speed and lagness.

Tried with 1.5b hate kernel...laggines is still present.
Cdroid maintener Vovan77 will not support this Rom anymore.
Now I am on RR and there is less lags but it is present.

Thanks, man, I got your link
But messing in the Settings, menus and that kind of stuff on a fresh installation seems to me the same as in Nougat. On my phone, lag appears in crDroid O (and all the Oreo builds) when I'm switching and reloading apps, with many apps installed and many processes running in the background. In this situation (regular use, not setting up the phone) I feel Nougat is better than Oreo.

Well, I'm not really complaining about Oreo, I know it was a hard work for its developers and builders and all the enthusiastic guys involved. The real accomplish was to be able to install and use Oreo for Mi 4C, almost bug-free. There are many alternatives to Oreo for Mi4C, even now, when devs are leaving its boat for other devices. MIUI 10 it's on its way, but LOS 14.1 is still developing - great work!
Personally, I'm using latest AEX Nougat and I'm happy.

Hi Gourcuff 14.
Thanks for yours tips. It was necessary to wipe also data (internal storage) to avoid bootloop. All apps, contacts restored.
I'm giving up - no dialer during incoming call.
LineageOS ftw
I use LineageOS found here for some half a year without any issues as a daily driver.
The only two things that i found missing are no vibration and the fact i can not find a way to activate Camera2API, so i can not use Gcam mods. But these are not really an issue tbh.
