[Q] Is my internal storage damaged? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Nexus 5 suddenly stopped working. It was on stock. Never experimented anything.
Now it doesn't boot. always stuck in boot animation.
Tried to wipe data/ factory reset in stock recovery, but it never completes. after 2-3 minutes screen start to blink. same to wipe cache. Red Exclamation Android logo continuously appears and disappears.
Tried unlocking bootloader, shows success, but doesn't boot.
and, if i again go to fastboot mode, bootloader is again locked.
So, is my storage really damaged?

That's a bad sign. Sound like you are correct in your assessment.

Help, unable to get back to recovery.

So I'm selling my TF700 and decided to reset everything. I made the mistake of wiping the data. When I rebooted from TWRP I now get stuck at the boot screen (white asus logo that says unlocked). It will not let me boot into recovery, the options aren't there. Any idea on how I can get back to recovery?

You can try to hold the power button + volume down button for ten second. Can you access to your bootloader?

Anyone has an Idea? Or is it really bricked?
Can you still see the device listed using fast boot?
No, because I can't enter the bootloader or the recovery. But it boots again

The same thing just happened to me. Unfortunately, I am still trying to figure it out. I flashed a "stock" recovery that I had found in order to be able to take the OTAs. Now when I boot, I just stay stuck on the NVIDIA splash screen.....been there for hours.

Same here.....
Mine is working again. Booting in the bootloader is a little bit tricky.
Have you tried to flash all? Boot.img, recovery.img and system.img?
...
I had the same issue. But after trying to get into the bootloader using POWER + VOLUME DOWN for about 15 minutes it finally went to the bootloader and I was able to re-flash it. I have a feeling it's the cludgy power button.
You do not need to flash the stock recovery to take the ota. I have taken 2 otas now on custom recovery without any issue and without loosing root. Just an FYI.
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using XDA Free mobile app
I just did a factory reset under lollipop, locked boot-loader rooted and it rebooted to the green android screen then dropped into CWM and asked to fix root. I said no, then it went to the nvidia boot logo and it is stuck. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Edit: nevermind, I just powered it off after about 20 minuets and it hung again. When I plugged it into my pc, it finally poped into the setup/welcome screen. Pretty weird. Heart attack averted

Nexus 5 stuck at boot animation after flashing stock 5.0

First of all, I have gone through every similar post, but none helped and so created a new post
Device: Nexus 5
Tried to flash: Stock 5.0 image from Google's website
Bootloader unlocked: Yes
Method used: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
Tried step 1, it gave an error: archive does not contain system.sig, but it still went ahead with the process and when tried to boot into recovery to perform a wipe data/factory reset, it showed a small Android logo with a red triangle and exclamation mark.
So I tried step two and manually flashed all the files in the order and in the end (after erasing cache), I tried booting into recovery again and got the same thing. Android logo with a red triangle and exclamation mark inside it. I thought the recovery wouldn't have flashed properly, I booted into bootloader again and manually flashed recovery.img and tried. Still the same. WIthout doing a wipe data/factory reset, I do not think the phone will boot up properly. What am I to do here? Stuck in this and cannot use the phone at all. Any help at all is welcomed. Thanks in advance!
Any questions, please ask me.
Edit: I tried locking and then unlocking the bootloader and tried step 2, while booting into the recovery mode, instead of the red triangle, I got the standing Android logo with the blue sphere sort of thing revolving in it. What do I do next when I see that Android logo? Thank you

The first boot takes a LONG time. Just let it go for a while.

So, I did try as you said. I left it but it kept booting for more than 20 minutes. What to do now?
Same thing happened to me.. You just have to do a factory wipe and then reboot..
When you get to the screen with dead android, with the power button pressed, press vol up key once and you will be in the recovery screen. Do a factory wipe from the screen and reboot..
It should be working now..

Incredible. That, worked! I did a rookie mistake by pressing both at the same time which led to nothing. Got it up and running. Thank you everyone for their inputs, couldn't have done without it
The factory wide and reset does not work for me. Stills tuck at the boot animation.
I recently had the same issue with my Nexus 5 and have been back and forth with Google Play support to resolve the issue with no success on that front. However I did get my issue resolved, which was caused by a corrupt /persist filesystem. What I did was this:
Flash CWM Recovery
Reboot into Recovery
notice that /persist isn't mounted, try mounting it and it will fail
Launch and ADB shell
run 'e2fcsk /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persist'
let it fix any errors found
try to mount the /persist partition, it should work now
(Optional) reboot to bootloader, flash whichever recovery you want or stay with CWM
reboot into system, all should be fine now
After successfully repairing and mounting /persist within CWM Recovery I powered off and just flashed the stock 5.0 image from the Google Factory Images page.
A special thanks to bitdomo for his information here which ultimately fixed my issues:

Phone broken?

My phone keeps restarting. Black screen -> Warning bootloader unlocked -> Black screen... etc. I also cannot access the recovery, gives me a black screen only.
Is the phone broken, or is there something that can be done?
What phone do you have? What caused this to happen?
XT1032
Installed PhilZ Advanced Recovery. Made a backup, rebooted devices, and stuck in this bootloop. When enter Bootloader to get to recovery, all i get is a black screen.
Can't even shut the phone off, because it keeps restarting.
Flash Philz again but don't reboot the phone. When Philz flashes successfully, use the phone's volume buttons to go to recovery from fastboot.
The problem here is i cannot get the phone to show up as an attached device, unless i do it "manually" where i reboot into bootloader from the standard android/phone interface.
You need to be in fastboot mode on the phone to flash Philz. Re-booting to bootloader from Android is fine.
After a little tweaking and some work, I managed to get it working.
Thank you for your help.

Huawei Watch 2 Pro (Shawshark) stuck in horrible bootloop

My relatives have gotten this watch gifted to them a while back but it was in chinese so to get it to English I had to unlock bootloader and flash the room. But while doing so I by mistake flashed twrp instead of booting into it on the Recovery Partition right after unlocking bootloader and after rebooting, it was stuck in a horrible bootloop. Why is it horrible?
So the problem is, it keeps booting into twrp, fails to mount data cache and everything, shuts down and reboots again, shows a warning that it can't detect an operating system and continues to boot into the same twrp recovery and so on. When I try to boot into bootloader, it says to go to g.co/ABH and read instructions to proceed, but after holding down the button to continue to boot, it goes back to the same bootloop.
I cannot boot it into bootloader or get it into fastboot, I can't do anything in twrp and I can't boot into os (cause of course, there is none). Does anyone know how I can fix this? I've been struggling for 4 hours with this today. I'm really scared that I've completely bricked it and can't restore it .
I can see it in adb devices while it's in twrp and twrp is freaking out then shutting down, but I can't even side load a rom to even install something I can boot into.
Link me a thread if there is one where this problem gets fixed or help me please. Thank you!
