solved it . i just copied the update script from older version of nightly and placed it in the downloaded one

I have had a few issues with latest versions of CM.
First was errors received during the flash process. Was able to get past this a number of ways.
Change bootloader version in update script.
removed bootloader version check line altogether from the script .
Edit line in source for my current bootloader and compiling myself.
This was all find and dandy but with every one of the above mentioned changes to either flash an official nightly or one compiled myself after flashing has gone through without error I am stuck on the "Google" logo after rebooting into system. Have done a quick search and have seen a number of posts like the one mentioned above that after getting past flash errors by modifying update script or in the above case had probably worked because older script was from an update.zip created before the bootloader check had been added by CM after the flash was successful no additional issues had been experienced.
So far I have tried a number of different update.zip's from flashing a number of official nightly zips to compiling my own nightly and even going back and flashing older CM-12 versions either still on SD card or PC that I have flashed in the past without issue and depending on age flash currently without any bootloader version edits as had been created or downloaded before the check had been added and still nothing will go past the "Google" logo.
"
Have also changed versions of TWRP and at one point had seen two versions with one for caf that I do not see as I no longer see any versions on the TWRP website just link to install the TWRP Manager app but in my quick reads had seen that it had only addressed the bootloader issue but now not sure as it had disappeared once I returned for more info and to download.
I do not have any problems installing AOSP Roms as compiled, flashed and running 5.1.0_r3 for a few days now and have no issue in restoring cm12 created nandroids even though flashing the zip from which the nandroid was created results in a permanent stop on the "Google" logo the nandroid restores and boots up just fine. Also had yesterday gave cm another try as had seen a commit in hammerhead device listing my current bootloader and "LMY41I" Build Number but still "Google" logo.
Should also probably mention I fastboot flashed the image for first "LMY47D" image and then later the "LMY47I" images. After each image flash would first thing fastboot flash twrp and create a nandroid backup before doing anything but would then flash supersu reboot system and set up everything before creating a second nandroid of each. Not sure how this would effect my current cm issue but thought worth noting because am obviously confused so what I think may be related in any way can be thrown out the window . Otherwise have not seen anything helpful in researching and have even considered flashing the bootloader taken from the 5.0.1 factory image as problems began after flashing 5.1.0 "LMY47D" factory image.

Thanks but the thread is the issue with the bootloader version in the updater script like the op had experienced I am not having an issue at this point but after rebooting into system. At first I thought maybe Kernel as am using my own kernel but same with Stock CM Kernel. Also Nandroids restore and boot without issue so have been using my Nandroid backed up just before installing 5.1 and have flashed test versions of my Kernel just fine. Its just weird that the issue is when booting after a fresh Rom install. Can flash a new boot.img without causing the issue and have done a diff between update scripts just in case something else funny in my update script other than the bootloader version line ans they come back the same.

[Q] upgarde snaufu...

was running viperXL 3.2.5 and wiped and went to cm10.1 now i used goo manager to download xhata (sorry i butchered it) now i can only boot into spash screen and bootloader. i used fastboot to reflash twrp and still only boots to the custom spash... hboot 1.09 s-off..... im kinda lost here. should have syuck with viper, why screw with perfection.
What is xhata? Is it a rom?
I'm not sure we can install roms with Goo Manager on this phone.
If you installed a rom for the quad-core Tegra One X, your phone will not boot and you're lucky you didn't get a brick. You need to do a full wipe and reflash.
first off not a noob. it was the evita rom. i still have bootloader access and can get half way into recovery( spash screen then twrp spash...) then reboot into custom splash. it was the rom... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2075783 so if anyone has any ideas please help, just dont start with the usual u screwed up flashing roms i know better. and the odd part is after reflashing the recovery via fastboot i get Twrp spash before going back to the phone main splash and boot looping.... and yes im s-off
No need to be so defensive. If we don't know exactly what you flashed, all we can do is ask. Its not meant as an insult. But its always better to ask the seemingly "obvious" questions first, get them out of the way.
If there is a "usual thing" that gets mentioned, its because the mistake of flashing ROMs for the ENDEAVORU in fact happens so often. Downloading from GooManager is not a great idea either, and often a red flag that someone installed a ROM for the wrong version of the phone.
Did the phone operate properly when you were on CM10.1?
What version of TWRP, and what fastboot command did you use to flash it?
I asked the "usual" questions because:
-You have less than 100 posts. That's often a sign of someone who is new to this.
-You used a rom name I've never heard of, and suggested you weren't sure of the name yourself. That's usually a big red flag for someone who flashed some random rom they found via Google.
-You mentioned using Goo Manager. That's a non-standard method for this phone, and an awful lot of people have bricked their phones trying to flash roms through apps that aren't well-supported. CWM Touch was notorious for this when the One X first came out.
If you don't want people to assume things, you need to state them up front.
On topic: There appears to be a bug in the latest TWRP that causes issues for some people. Try rolling back to an earlier version.

Yeah, I saw that too, and why I asked the OP what version of TWRP.
i had problems with that rom on version 4.0.1 and 4.1.0 had alot of errors and trouble. i haven't tried 4.2.0 though, i have been having better luck with rom after clearing out recovery cache running "fastboot erase cache" and running only twrp 2.3.3.1.
i flashed the second to last release of twrp (latest gave mount issues), viper was running great, cm 10.1 avatar was running fine just didnt like how plain it was so i used goo manager to download hatkaXL and when the download finished i picked select and flash.. then the usual warning about flashing and it rebooted, hit spash screen where it still is hours later. i then tried manually boot into recovery, it hit the bootloader i selected recovery and it seemed to try and load. next step was back to fast boot and to reflash twrp (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img ) flashed 100% success and still wont boot into recovery just the bootloader, and i wasnt trying to get all defensive, i sent first post using the wifes phone and posted quick, had a guy hooking up my satellite at same time as phone crashed. has anyone tried the new version of cwm for the evita? maybe flashing that may get me back, i have roms and backups on the pc that i can seem to side load but never boot as well.
well after repeated flashing of recovery and (fastboot erase cache) it finally booted to recovery, now to see if my backup will load.

[Q] xt926 CM10.2 Stuck on Boot Logo After 1st Reboot

xt926 with unlocked bootloader and can run 10.1 nightly from get.cm with no problem. However, when I install a 10.2 nightly - whether from get.cm, epinter, dhacker or skrilaz - even though the initial boot comes up clean, rebooting after the initial boot gets stuck on the boot logo.
I have tried different recovery images - cwm, twrp, oudhs - and different versions of each.
I have tried clean installs, full formats and dirty upgrades from 10.1.
I have tried multiple force boots from this state (power+vol up).
I have tried with and without the updated gapps and UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip.
Restoring from backup does not get past this hang. The only way out is to revert to stock (I use mattlegroff's DROID_RAZR_HD_Utility_1.21).
Does anyone have any idea how I might get past this or even get a log?
Only thing that fixed this for me was to flash back to stock 4.1.2, flash newest CWM touch recovery, then flash newest nightly, Gapps, and SU. Then, a popup comes up saying something about the ROM wants to flash your boot image, and asks if you'd like to fix this. I answered YES (fix) and been working since.
Any chance you could link where you got your recovery and SU?
Much appreciated.
Same issue here...
I've also tried everything listed above. I've done everything i can possibly think of to get cm 10.2 on my xt926. For some reason my phone just isn't making it after the first reboot. I've searched and found similar issues but none of the troubleshooting has been working for me. I hope to find a way around this. I need that 10.2!
Same issue here. Not just CM, every 4.3 based ROM I've tried has either failed to boot or failed to boot more than once (more often than not, they won't boot at all).
I've been at this for hours, but I've had no success so far. I'll let you know if I come up with anything.
EDIT:
Here's my setup:
After every try, I flash back to stock 4.1.2 with VZW_XT926_4.1.2_9.8.1Q_62_VQW_MR-2_VQW_CFC.xml. I've edited it so it doesn't flash the stock recovery and so it flashes a modified logo that doesn't show the bootloader warning. Partway through, I booted up and updated to the latest OTA, so I had to comment out the tz.mdm files as well. I was using TWRP 2.2.2.1, but I updated to 2.6.0.0 earlier.

one of 2 things should fix this problem,
use cwm 6.0.3.5 from here or
go to recovery/mounts and storage and format the data-media line (i know it says sd card but its internal, do not format the external ed card line or you will loose data on it)
also i updated matts utiliity to the latest ota, so you dont have to take the ota just to get the baseband. its in the dev forum. i will be updating it to a newer version if you wait until later, with the newest recoveries.
edit, btw 2.6.0.0 is not the latest twrp although i recommend using cwm as some have had issues with twrp including me.
First off, the latest TWRP seems to have fixed the problems (for me, anyway). Second, you'll need to use the most up-to-date GAPPs when you flash. Also, a lot of people have noted that mounting sytem prior to doing their wipes has solved the reboot issues.
Thanks a ton for the help. Flashed latest CWM and bumped up to 4.4 and everything's working fine. I appreciate the help!

No operating system left after GPE flash fail - plz help!

After literally two weeks of reading thread after thread attempting to understand this , I tried to go from a sense ROM to a GPE ROM and I tried to flash the GPE firmware following Digital high's instructions here..
Things did not work out as instructed I'm afraid and that is probably due to my not understanding enough....nevertheless following DH instructions left me with repeated flash failures. Finally the following flashes got me from firmware 5.0.1- the firmware I was already on- to this:
fastboot flash zip VZWm8LfirmwareTWRP.zip - success; followed by the same ' flush" flash - again, success:
then:
fastboot flash zip 5.1_6_firmware+hboot.zip - and again another "flush" flash with success
From the way I read it we are then to reboot to bootloader and proceed further with recovery flashing the rom, blah, blah.... , however, my little android guy is overlaid with a black screen (instead of white) and he is dead. I rebooted to recovery to see if I could flash the sinless GPE ROM which is my goal in the first place (yes I realize it is a 4.4.4 but NOTHING flashes in recovery now) but now I m out of ideas. I have no workable phone and I have to get my ass to a new job in the afternoon. Can anyone help with either finishing my goal to install the sinless ROM or restore back to the adrenaline ROM I was running? I don't want to restore as I am afraid I may have altered the firmware and thus brick if I do restore...PLEASE HELP!!!! PLEASE!
right now my phone is sitting on the charger on the dead android screen. i don' dare touch it. What should i do?
Update: I am flashing digital highs GPE_5.1-multi_dh_051215.zip and I am getting a bootloader remote 24 "parsing android info fail". Does anyone know what that means or how to fix?
Update again: Figured out this needs to be flashed in recovery and not fastboot. Now I have been booting for about five minutes now. Hope I'm not bootlooped. ....
Figured it out
Got it figured out.
Mods, could you please close the thread. thanks!

Rather than end things with a statement that you figured it out, could you elaborate on the solution and/or describe what went wrong to cause the problem (if you happened to figure that out while finding your fix)? Someone else could come here with your same problem and you are likely poised to help them out with your newly found solution.

Believe me, I thought about trying to do just that. That's when I realized I am not sure that I totally understood what it was I did wrong in the first place. I believed the underlying issue might have been the order in which I flashed but I can't be sure because I ended up flashing files that probably shouldn't have been flashed to begin with . What I do know is that some firmware files needed to be flashed in RUU mode while others in regular fastboot and the GPE zip flashed through recovery, not regular fastboot as I thought it needed to be. And all that even being understood I still wasn't sure if I needed the firmwares with the hboot, without hboot, with or without recovery/boot .img's....
Going back and looking at my cmd window it appears the following worked in the following order:
FastbootRUU flash 5.0.1 firmware
fastboot VZWm8Lfirmware.zip
fastboot write superCID
fastbootRUU flash 5.1 firmware
reboot to hboot (dead android here) then reboot to recovery
Recovery flash GPE_5.1_muliti_dh_date.zip
Follow the promps to install and then reboot to glory...
I am still not clear on as to whether or not I can go back to my nandroid backups as those were taken on different firmwares obviously. Instinct tells me I would brick but idk...Looks like I am stuck on GPE for a while...
That probably confused more people than helped...See why I didn't post it?

When compared to the steps I took to flash the 6/15 build as cleanly as I could manage, here's what jumps out to me as strange or unnecessary:
-I don't know what the '5.0.1 firmware' is but I suspect it's the same as the 'VZWm8Lfirmware.zip' you flashed next. I chose to run the 5.0.1 RUU and considered that as complete of verizon 5.0.1 firmware as there is.
-I don't think that superCID has been necessary for DHs GPE for some time. I don't know that it would necessarily cause a problem but I've never gone to superCID and have had no problems
-flashing DH's carrier-agnostic 5.1 firmware is stated as optional in his OP and I think DH himself admitted a little while back that it may actually be the cause of some folks' wi-fi issues
Regarding restoring old nandroids to a system with updated firmware, I can say that each time a new official software has been released, I've flashed tigerstown's firmware-only zips alongside whatever custom rom I was running at the time with no issues. This points to a trend of successfully running roms on top of newer firmwares without issues. I know of many 5.x roms saying that you must update firmware but I've never read about a 4.x rom having issues with 5.x firmware. I don't think there's much risk of flashing a custom rom (or restoring a nandroid) from recovery that doesn't match the firmware beyond a possible bootloop.

[HELP THREAD] cm-13 on gt-p5100

Hello guys,
I installed cm-13 successfully and it was operating fine until yesterday. Today I tried to install a theme or something and it hung. So i just felt like doing a factory reset and I did it through my cwm recovery. But before that i made a backup, then i did the reset, then i did the restore...ever since then i havent been able to open the OS...it gets stuck on the samsung GALAXY Tab2 10.1 screen. I can however access the cwm recovery. I did infact try to unzip the cm-13 that i had previously used, and it doesnt work...
Please help guys!
I am pretty new to this and i feel like i cant figure out what to do next.
Is there a way to maybe restart the whole process, like get rid of the cm-13 that is already installed and redo the whole thing again?
Kindly help guys, i was really enjoying the cm experience and i messed it up :/

you did a backup before factory reset, then you restored the same data after reset. this hardly changed anything. the reason it didn't boot, is that The problem lies at the system partition, you should wipe system partition, data partition as well and flash the same cm-13 zip again along with gapps, if you had.
now let the system start. it should boot up with a clean installation. you can then try to advance restore and chose only data partition.
later just switch to twrp recovery by Android-Andi

Hello, actually I did exactly that, i wiped system partition and all of that...then i did try with cwm, and it didnt work, what is happening is that i select the option to flash the ROM, then the screen goes blank for a second and comes back to the home screen of the cwm recovery. So basically i selected the zip and nothing happened! I then tried flashing using twrp and the problem now was that there was the "no md5 file found" message and the installation would not stop, it would go on for too long, like some sort of loop. I then switched back to cwm and tried again and it still doesnt seem to work...kindly advice on what to do next

first thing check if you have updated to last official stock jellybean rom prior to cm13 upgrade.
this thread will help you to update your bootloader to jb from ics. if you have a jb bootloader already. you can skip this.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2642005
next thing you should get twrp 3.0.2.8
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=48848&sort_by=date&sort_dir=DESC
after wiping, restart recovery, then flash the Rom zip
it takes time with the new CM13 builds to complete installation. some earlier twrp recoveries had issues(3.0.0.1 and 0.2, not sure right now, try latest only). cwm is not supported and twrp is the only preferred recovery by the Rom developers to flash the newer roms.
remember p5100 tab is called espresso3g now, since development has been unified. you need files marked as espresso3g for your p5100.
I don't which files are you using, development has changed so confirm the files that you're using are for unified builds and not device specific.

I don't which files are you using, development has changed so confirm the files that you're using are for unified builds and not device specific.

I followed all the steps that you suggested, and the thread suggested.
I installed custom recovery, then I updated the bootloader.
Then i flashed the new twrp, which is alot more easier to operated compared to the cwm .
then i wiped , restarted recovery, then flashed the rom,
the exact same thing that was previously happening with the cwm happened : I tapped on the rom, then a blank screen appeared and it went back to the main menu of the twrp...
The ROM i am using is: cm-13.0-20160220-1347-UNOFFICIAL-p5100.zip
i also tried using the ROM i got from get.cm : cm-11-20160822-NIGHTLY-p5100.zip
Okay so i played a slow mo video to see what the screen says before it goes back to the welcome screen:
Updating partition details. . .
. . . done
Full SElinux support is present.
MTP Enabled
Then after this pops up, it goes back to the main menu of the twrp.
What if i just reinstall the stock OS then do the whole process of getting cyanogenmod again from rooting onwards?
Kindly assist!!

OKAY! So i have had some progress in the situation i got myself into! Now i just changed the sd card and tried to flash the ROM, so it didnt successfully flash, it says:
Zip file is corrupt!
Error installing zip file ..*the directory of the ROM*
This doesnt make sense though because i used the exact same ROM earlier and it worked, i used it for a whole day and it was fine...

do what @billysam said.
dont use device specific stuff. the latest twrp will only work with unified builds. for your device you need espresso3g builds.
you will find the latest roms on android-andis github site http://andi34.github.io/index.html

you're using device specific Rom build, cm13.0 unofficial p5100, the latest twrp recovery you have, is a unfied espresso3g one.
latest roms, are build upon espresso3g for p5100,p3100 and espressowifi for p5110,p5113 p3113.
use latest cm13 rom zip, marked espresso3g.
there are device specific roms and recovery, which developers have stopped working on, your issue is because of this. get unified recovery and rom.

Zip flashing in TWRP

I recently purchased a Verizon Pixel and successfully unlocked it, installed TWRP RC1, ROM and EX Kernel. I notice, however, that I cannot flash any other zips such as Viper4Android, WETA, etc. This makes no sense to me but after trying to flash these other zips (all of which say successful) nothing is ever installed after a reboot and files do not appear in the expected directory locations. Anyone have any idea what I am missing? I have never seen anything like this before.
Thanks!

After flashings the ROM; do you reboot to recovery before you flash the mods? You need to either reboot to recovery or boot to the system at least once before flashing any mods. When you flash a ROM, it gets flashed to the slot that is currently inactive. The mods will get flashed to slot the is currently the active slot. So, if you don't reboot before you flash the mods, they get flashed to the wrong slot. That's about the only thing I can think of that would cause this issue.

Yes, have rebooted to recovery numerous times. Zips appear to flash and on reboot to ROM, nothing! Zips with save log features return an error as if nothing is writing to memory.
I have returned to factory image and repeated everything, no change.
I have only booted to TWRP for installing zips, and I haven't installed TWRP on my phone. When booting TWRP RC1, I've had it fail to install zips multiple times. I think the times it failed I didn't get the initial opening information. Honestly I didn't look into it very much, because I just booted Alpha 2, and that installs zips just fine when RC1 doesn't work for me. If someone has rooted their phone, I think FlashFire can probably also install zips.

If you flash a mod from a flash made specially for Pixel, it should work. Other zips will not because the system files for the Pixel are in system/system, not just system.
