Hey guys, I'm trying to get into HTC Themes and when I try to sign in with my Google account it just keeps saying "We are unable to connect to the HTC servers. Please try again later" I've tried rebooting my phone and logging in with other methods but it keeps coming up. Can anyone else confirm that it is in fact the HTC servers and not something silly going on with my phone? Thanks!
Same problem here. Rooted, s-off, cleanrom. No clue what to dI at this point.

I have an HTC account and when I put my email and password in and hit log in and says please wait then a few seconds later I get the unable to talk to HTC servers error. See the attached picture for the exact error.
Exactly the same problem here.
Vanila Htc One M7 — it happens regardless of the way I try to sign in, gmail or htc account.
M8
Where you able to figure it out im having the same problem with m8 developer edition.
I am having no problem. I went to the desktop theme maker site first. Maybe that is required to wake it up on your phones.
https://themes.htc.com/#/landing
Went to the site, even created a custom theme there.
I then tried to launch themes again, no good...

Don't cry too much. The themes created kinda suck. You have no control over colors. They are picked by the app from those in the wallpaper. You can end with pinks and purples which aren't my favorites. As for icons it's easier to use a stand alone icon pack. Only thing that is really useful is that you can change fonts. Then again, the choices are limited.
I want to do things like change notification icons, the colors in Quick Settings, and NavBar icons. We need Xposed. I have Alpha 2 installed and tried Xtended Settings. Phone froze on boot. Did learn latest TWRP will do a Restore of ΠΣΘ ROM. So that's something.
I don't want to be a drama queen, sorry.
I just want blinkfeed to have a black background as it used to do before the recent update, I'm not even interested in fonts or icons.

I think we are expecting too much from HTC Themes. The only way I see to get the colors you want is to use a solid color wallpaper or one with four quadrants and the four colors you want.
As to not being able to log on, maybe they are doing some sort off staggered roll-out and it is out of our control.
Yeah, I still can't log on, getting the same error that I posted earlier.
I was missing the HTC Account service. If you go in to settings>App Manager>All, see if you have "HTC Account", if it's not there, it's not going to work. Not sure where or when I disabled/deleted mine... but I just ended up flashing a new rom on mine. HTC Account is back and it's working.

Doesn't look like I have anything called just "HTC Account". How can this be added? I am on CleanROM 3.0. Thanks!
I am not sure, maybe the cleanrom thread would be more help. I was using cleanrom also... perhaps Scott didn't have it in there at some point? Since it was recently mentioned that he wouldn't be working on a lollipop rom, I have since switched to Adrenaline and voila, "HTC Account" is there and running.

Ugh, I just went to post that question the CleanROM thread but it's closed
Oh man, that stinks.
When I was having the issue, I searched a bunch and came up with nothing. Definitely did not seem like a common problem at all. There were some older posts on a different htc product and how missing that service caused the same error that you and I were having, but the people that had the issue simply had to re-enable the service. Not reinstall it.
I tried reinstalling cleanrom, no wipe or anything, and nothing, still wasn't there.

Blahh, that really sucks. Anyone have any ideas I can try? Thanks!
I suggested early on your probably needed and active HTC Account. I was on CleanROM and thought I I had it there too. Have you all gone to Accounts and Sync and hit the "+" key and added it? It ain't there unless you add it. I do have an app visible in TiBackup called HTC Account. I also have HTC Checkin Service and HTC Connection service which may be pertinent. Maybe HTC Backup includes it. That seem to be readily available to download.
Just some ideas.
Edit: Unzipped CleanROM and there is NO HTCAccount.apk therein. Looked inapp and priv-app so you are on to something. I think there are some all stock ROM dumps in the Development thread. Should be in one of those.
Another thought. CleanROM is Kitkat. Do HTC themes just work on Lollipop?

Great rom so far, had to change the boot animation though, reminded me of the stuff people would put as their backgrounds on iphones in the earlier days of jailbreaking.

Hey, not exactly sure about posting in the right sub forum but i have a little issue
i am currently using a CDMA Hero for Sprint and everything has been going well after fixing the battery issue with a different messaging app, but now a new little annoying issue has arised.
lately when i have opened my menu bar for all my apps i have been getting multiple icons for the same apps
Examples such as Bonsai Blast and Teeter have 2 icons right next to each other that are the same. They both work but its kinda annoying
also some of the applications names are incorrect. instead of ChompSMS its titles is now com.p1.chompsms along with Google Voice being voicemail.xxx... etc
i have tried searching the forums quite a bit and haven't quite found an answer for this issue and am not sure if it applies to the GSM version (thinking it might be a bug for Sense UI)
anyone have the same issue?
i have tried reinstalling the applications and rebooting and it still keeps happening. (not really wanting to hard reset...)
Any help would be very much appreciated!
Thanks!
you are not alone, yeah for i have two print voicemail apps one with a long com..... something same with google sky and google voice app its odd but hey hopefully we will get eclair soon
I don't think it is the Sense UI. I think it is Android. They show the long namsspace name for the application...and some apps show other weird names as well. It happens when you reboot the phone, at least for me. I think it has to do with the way the apps register themselves when the phone boots. Or it may be sloppy programming in the manifest files. Not sure.
Having the same issues. Google Sky will actually show up as the first application, and titled something with about an End User Agreement. When launched it pops up the EUA and only option is a force close.
Not sure what is causing it either.

I bet if you reboot your phone the issue will return though...try it!!!
If that IS the case, see my post in this CDMA forum about app versions reverting. what has happened is that your app, in this case google sky, has reverted to an initial version, without telling you.

I've confirmed that this app version reverting issue happens with at least 16 apps, not just the two Google apps you mention. I have a support question open with Google, so hopefully they can figure it out soon. It makes people think something else is wrong entirely.

I really think this now too,
so far i reinstalled Flixster Movies and Handcent SMS and when my phone reboots i get some different weird icon for both that are not the original ones.
also with the reboot, one of my original problems happens with the names of ChompSMS and Google Voice with their com.xxx.etc names
it has to be something changed on a reboot.

Oops! Sorry for making it sound like I am in on the android developer work. It is way over my head. Just thought I'd share a link I'd stumbled across. If it's kosher, perhaps you might want to share the url to your version reverting bug with that group. Not sure how that works.
In any case, it does seem like this is all related (missing icons, duplicate icons, renamed shortcuts, version issues, etc.). Unfortunately, it so far HTC has not acknowledged their role in the matter. Hopefully as the bug reports add up, they'll do something about it. Or, maybe they'll simply release Android 2.0 with Sense built in.

Ah, no worries. I have no shame, I'll put it in there whether it's kosher or not
After all, without visibility, a problem will never get solved.
This is a stock (rooted) copy of the 3.28.651.1 OTA that Fresh Evo 3.2 is based on.
The only changes from stock are:
Made in to an update.zip format so that you can flash it, and an update script was created
Added superuser, busybox, apps2sd, and the necessary mods to the ramdisk to make them all work
Other than that it's untouched. This is so that others can use this same base for whatever purpose that they want. This is not any type of rom that I'll be maintaining or supporting, that's what Fresh Evo is.
Enjoy!
Download: http://geekfor.me/evo/22/stock-rooted-3-28-651-1
What are the changes?
Thanx.
might test this one day
It has a new kernel that has better battery life than previous stock kernels.
So far having serious issues with data connection. On initial setup, it took 6 tries to get gmail account linked, and 3 tries with another e-mail account. Trying to access market now and it's taking an obscenely long time to load. First time I tried to access market the connection timed out.
Now searching for apps on market and connection keeps timing out. Guess I gotta go back to my 3.26 backup. Man I wanted better battery life.
Update: Finally got market to find Titanium Backup. It's downloaded 148KB in 5 minutes so far. lol
So is there any changes from the donor version to the official released ver.

Correct. Peep access to Twitter is a problem with the Peep software on ANY ROM, even on stock, non-rooted. HTC is working to address this problem.

I haven't flashed the new rom yet, on stock deodexed and my weather gps hasn't updated since yesterday. I've been syncing it every so often since about 7pm last night when I got home from out of town. It still works fine for maps so I think it's a system wide problem for htc weather, like peep.
Ok... downloaded from different link and didn't wipe before flashing and GPS weather works. First try did full wipe and had poor result. Now to test battery life.
btw... Twitter acknowledges issues with some 3rd party clients not working.

Full wipe and fully functional here. Weather/ GPS all good.
As some of you have come from the captivate know what I did there with Rom Q&A threads. I am doing the same here. In an effort to clean up the site. All Rom related question shall from now on be posted in the proper Q&A or will be deleted on sight.
GPS
Is the GPS fix incorporated in the new 4.0 rom?
GPS should work fine. This rom is really good.
The GPS reception I am experiencing, as measured by signal to noise ratio, is good on this ROM with the setup in my sig. Really good actually...when I fired up this version and saw more green than yellow and orange for the first time ever on this device, that was cool.
I flashed this with clockwork recovery 3.0.26 ext3 is it imparative to have ext4 on on. Everything is working fine?
No. It should be fine with 3.0.2.6 or above. You should check out the new EXT4 Recovery though. Very nice and easier also.
Thanks, I wasn't sure. I was looking at ext4, I have it on and am going to install it
Thanks
Does the patch remove the star on the ring lock? If it does, I'm not sure if I installed it correctly then. Could someone help me?
*Edit* Nvm I accidently downloaded the patch the first time. But was the patch necessary?
And if it wasnt, is there a way to take it off?
Go to the second post on the first page of the thread. You will see:
MODS And Themes
MIUI Camera (No 720p Video)
Extended Quick Settings (not tested)
Circle & Percent battery mod
Sense 3.0 Stock Lock Ring
You want the Sense 3.0 Stock Lock Ring. That patch will remove the star.
Now that i have installed everything.and the rooting process is done, am I allowed to reformat my SD card?
I do believe a goldcard is only needed to root. So yes if you want
Inspired55 is correct. You only need the gold card for the rooting procedure. You can keep it as it is since it will not matter as far as usage goes, or you can format it, Fat32 recommended.
Is there a way to add a reject icon to the lock screen?
never mind its there
HTC Hub
I have tried a few times now to load the HTC Hub app and some process keeps force closing and prompts to "Tell HTC"
Should this app work?
I am new to this rom and I am exploring everything.
Thanks
Also, everytime I reboot - I get a notification that says that I recovered from an unexpected reboot - would I like to Tell HTC?
Is that normal?
Thanks again
Yes and no. It happens on some custom roms. Nothing is wrong, just turn off the notification. Go to menu/settings/software update/tell HTC. and turn off send reports to HTC. As far as a process force closing, try to catch the name of it the next time that happens and we will probably have a better idea of what is happening.

This has just been sitting in the my apps section of marketplace since I ran market doctor in Titanium Backup. I have absolutely no idea what this app does, (if anything) both the description and Whats New text simply says LocalTryTry followed by two screen shots of a three paned interface that is completely blank. Attempting to update the app fails and I can find no actual trace of it's existence on my transformer anywhere.
So I ask, what is this thing had how do I get rid of it? Frankly Its freaking me out a bit.

Using Titanium Backup just unlink LocalTryTRy (Asus weather) from the market and it stops nagging you about updates that always fail.
Well first post gets an answer pretty quick.
Pretty easy when you know how
Thanks for you help.
So instead of breaking the market link is there a way to port the update again? If I knew how I would since that seems like a better option.

I already searched on here, and someone asked this before but got no reply.
I want to uninstall Gmail 4.7.1 from my Kyocera Rise that's running ICS, and install the older Gmail 2.3.4.1 on it. Has anyone else done this before? Any idea if it'll work?
I want to do this because 2.3.4.1 is what my old phone (was running Gingerbread) had on it. I don't like the newer Gmail app, IMO they made it harder to read and navigate. I find myself using my old phone just to check my email, because its less annoying. It'd be awesome if the older app were to work on here.

Hello, thanks. I've been a lurker on here for a while, but I have no experience asking my own questions here.
Yup, I did that, I downloaded an .apk of 2.3.4.1. I was asking on here to try and find out if attempting this would even work.... in my research I can't find anything on whether something like this for Gingerbread will work correctly in ICS. It looks like I have to root to even remove Gmail 4.7.1 so that's why I was asking before getting into this.
