I upgraded my Z3 to the Central Europe Lollipop firmware yesterday, and today this icon appeared in my status bar for no apparent reason. From what I can find by looking at icons online it looks like a no signal icon, however I have had 3G and LTE all day, and as you can see from the screenshot below, I have signal and wifi now.
It's also appearing on my Android Wear watch.

Any idea how to get rid of it?
EDIT: OK as soon as I posted this, I managed to find the answer, it's in Settings, Sound & notification, Interruptions. Not sure how it activated itself though so will need to keep an eye on that.
It means the phone is on silent with NO VIBRATION, simply press volume up one time.
You activate it by holding volume down until it vibrates, then press once more.
You can also change this notification status via your smartwatch.
The status of your notifications (none, even no alarms / priority only) then appears in the statusbar of your phone. If you select to recieve all notifications, then there's no icon.
Hope this helps, even after a year

Okay... Issue is really starting to annoy me.
I'm using Handcent and have standard messaging app notifications turned off. Whenever I get a text message, I get my Handcent notification icon + the icon pointed out below. The icon pictured below doesn't go away when I read the message either, I have to manually clear it.
Any ideas where this icon is coming from so I can turn it off?

when you get a notification, don't just clear it, click on it and see where it takes you. That's where it's coming from and where it should be disabled if you don't want it.
Nevermind... Found out it is Beautiful Widgets Pack 2 that created that notification... unistalled that and it's gone now!

Click to collapse
I had already tried that, but when I clicked it, it just took me to the default messaging app... Handcent; I then changed default back to stock messaging and it took me there, that's why I was pretty sure that neither of those apps were creating the notification.
I have an Elephone P8000, running Android 5.1 on stock ROM version 20160319, rooted with Kingroot. A couple of days ago I noticed the alarm icon had appeared in the status bar at the top of the screen and also the lock screen showing an alarm schedule for 1-3 minutes in the future. I have no active alarms and use only the default Clock app for alarms, I have not installed any other alarm apps. The alarm on the lock screen keeps moving ahead in time by up to 3 minutes and never actually goes off.
I tried setting alarms and letting them go off, but that just brought up a second alarm icon in the status bar, which disappeared after the alarm went off or was dismissed.
I tried the "battery pull" with Power and Volume Up buttons, but the annoying icon and notification on lock screen are still there.
I tried shutting down each and every running app from the Settings, that didn't make any difference at all.
Any easy ways to get this resolved ?

If you're anything like me you have a nasty habit of reading on your phone before bed in the dark. Even at its lowest setting this phone is still very bright stock. I went through several screen dimming apps and all of them required me to open an app and put a persistent notification on my status bar/notification bar.
I stumbled upon nougat/Oreo quick settings (free in the play store) and it offers a full suite of goodies, some require root but most don't. One of the best is the night mode. It's a simple toggle like WiFi, Bluetooth, ect and dims the screen perfectly for night time reading.
I'm sure this feature will be implemented in custom ROMs but as the phone currently stands this is a must have app for me.

Pretty cool toggle, it would be awesome if it toggled the native Motorola night mode with the color filter, rather than just lowering the overall screen brightness.
Better than nothing, thanks
Hello!
Since Oreo and its new "notification system" I can't change the notification sound on some apps, like for example, Calendar from google. No option to change the sound (see attach) .. Someone else with the same problem?

I can't seem to find it also for other apps
Just had the update (finally) to Oreo & (so far), I've found one of my apps will no longer use the notification sound set within the app. It uses the main sound set within my phone & no matter what I set in the app, it will not use it!
Anybody come up with a solution for this?
In UK using build number 368 (C432).
Same issue, gradually getting worse, now can't set any notifications for any app!
I am having the same issue. when I first got the phone, forget what flavor we were at then, I could customize any app with any ring tone. It seemed to have gotten worse the more the phone updated to the point now where I can't change any notification for any application. Everytime I am in an app and I select change/customize ringtone, it redirects me to the application's settings but there is not area to change ringtone. I can turn all notifications off, turn vibrate off, turn ringtone off, banner settings etc but no spot to change ringtone, very upset!!!!
Apologies if this has been asked/solved before, but whenever I install Gboard on my watch 4, after a day or two this notification comes up and I can't get rid of it or find what is causing it.
Have tried reinstalling (both phone and watch), done a reset of the watch, joined and unjoined the beta program to no avail. Any ideas how to get rid (other than just deleting the app obviously)?

Had the same issue.
Make sure gboard is set up as the keyboard you want to use in settings and continue.
I made sure that watch is connected via Bluetooth and enabled wifi on there as well.
Then I rebooted my watch and when it booted up i got this notification again. Now i opened up reminder or any other app which opens the keyboard.
Gboard will open and a little textbox will show up stating it will download a language.
I let it sit there until screen got dark and waited around 5 minutes. After that i checked my watch seeing the gboard notification had gone.
