Problem while updating CM12 - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since I've CM12 in my OPO I can't update the nightlies using OTA. I can download the update but when it restarts to recovery to install the new update I have always the same error and I have to do the wipes with each update to solve it. I've been looking for a solution in xda but I haven't found it. See the attachment please. Thanks in advance.

it's the same for me as I have red lines after reboot and upade is installed

I've the error but the ROM doesn't update

[Q] Can't Flash ANy ROMs

Oy vey, never had this much trouble with a new phone. I am fresh off a factory image restore, flashed the latest TWRP recovery (2.6.3.4) and I cannot flash anything. I keep getting this:
E: Error executing updater binary binary in zip ' /sdcard
?
Update: Apparently something is up with the latest TWRP, there are some other users experiencing the same issue.

I just had a smilar problem.. I rooted, installed TWRP - 2.6.3.2.. Downloaded Catalysm Rom, and tried flashing it.. said failed and now im stuck at Google Logo.
Edit: I tried putting the phone of for couple of mins.. started bootloader and entered recovery. Then flashed the ROM again. It worked.. So maybe try that.

Three letters:
CWM
Use the third DL link there. It's the unofficial but it just works.

But TWRP is so much nicer. Apparently the ROM devs, or at least some of them are using outdated updater binaries. Apparently this can also be resolved in TWRP by unmounting/mounting System (can't remember which, haven't tried it yet) after wiping.

[Q] OTA updates after root/unlock?

Will I continue to get OTA software updates if I root and unlock the boot loader (to install TWRP)?
Thanks,
Hish747
Yes, make sure to untick to update the recovery in the debug options

Yes.Of course. But it happened to me that the update script showed some errors. I had to fix them by downloading the original files and replacing my system files.
want to love this device but it seems like its always something.

Can I dirty flash the nightlies from CM11S if I have just unlocked the bootlader and rooted?
There is no nightly for CM11s just for CM11.
I recommend to do a clean install including factory reset.
Keep in mind that after flashing something, you need to flash root at the end too

So we will still get OTA's great! Great phone for costumizations.

That does not happen if you just unlock, root and install a custom recovery.
Also a custom kernel would be fine

Sorry if this is a bit of a n00b question (I know people are sensitive about that!) but I have searched around a bit and not found a solution to this issue. Here's the situation...
So what i've done so far is unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP, and SuperSU (so I have root). I also unchecked the update recovery box in dev options. When told I need to update I downloaded the update, hit install, the phone reboots and takes me to TWRP. When in TWRP I hit install, navigate to the cache and try to install the update /cache/cm-bacon-d22b777afa-to-4f280f505a-signed.zip
When I do that, I get the following:
"
E:Error installing zip file '/cache/cm-bacon-d22b777afa-to-4f280f505a-signed.zip'
Done processing script file
Installing '/cache/cm-bacon-d22b777afa-to-4f280f505a-signed.zip'...

Error flashing zip ''/cache/cm-bacon-d22b777afa-to-4f280f505a-signed.zip'

Anybody got any ideas?
Seems TWRP expects a MD5 file.
I use CWM as recovery and can install the update OTA. Maybe try CWM recovery

Yeah, you gotta open the zip on your pc, modify META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script and remove the code (its in the top part) that mentions the incompatible data error. Then try flashing again.

update to latest OTA and recovery issue

HI all, I have CM12 installed on my rooted phone and this morning when I switched it on, I got a message saying:
"WARNING: Update Cyanogen recovery is disabled. This may cause issues with updating your device. Please enable Update Cyanogen recovery in developer options"
Now, that option is off because I have my custom recovery TWRP installed on the phone, I'd like to keep that and I don't want to reinstall it after the update, so I believe I should ignore the message, but what I wanted to check with you guys is whether ignoring it will in fact cause any issues as this is the first time ever I've seen this message (this update by the way I think is the first one after installing CM12).
Any idea?
thanks
Disregard the message.
Thanks Heisenberg,
I did that but when the phone restarts trying to install the update, it goes straight into recovery mode (TWRP) and from there I don't think I can install the update, as none of the options seem to allow me to do so, see screenshot http://s23.postimg.org/6d6s7wyq3/IMG_20150625_135453.jpg
All right, I downloaded the zip from here http://cyanogen-ota-bacon.somee.com/ and tried to flash it from TWRP, but I get an error, screenshot here http://s28.postimg.org/zb06wtcpp/OTA_error.jpg, any idea why?
Same here, got an error in TWRP logs that prevented the update to install.
I'd like to avoid reflashing stock recovery only to install the update...
Heres the log: http://s29.postimg.org/njqqqlfc7/Screenshot_2015_06_25_08_49_42.png
Seems something related to outdated "build fingerprint" my device has currently 12.0-YNG1TAS17L
I guess the alternative would be to do it thru Cyanogen Recovery, but let's see what more knowledgeable members have to say as, like you, I don't want to have to reinstall TWRP and SU just for the sake of the update
Looks like you cant use the official update with TWRP. Either flash it via cyanogen recovery then flash back TWRP, or use a differnt zip for update not the official
Thanks for clarifying that davebugyi, then so be it, I'll do it thru cyanogen recovery and then reflash TWRP and probably SU as well
thanks

Ah, sorry forgot to ask, is there an unofficial update? If so where do I get it from?

Is it safe to flash only that zip from TWRP over the stock Cyanogen OS?
Yes, but if I'm not mistaken, judging from the file size, that's the whole ROM

The file I quoted is not a whole ROM, it's 31 MB.
AH OK, sorry I thught you referred to the 500mb file
Apparently even by enabling cyanogen recovery, I still can't get the updated installed as the phone keeps rebooting in the TWRP recovery, which is very odd.
I'm having the same issue. Anyone?
Got the same problem. Any idea?

The solution seems to be installing the new ROM provided. Related problem here http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/twrp-cm-android-version-mismatch-t3147658

[Q] Latest OTA with twrp ??

I've got a notification for the system update. (The latest one-20mb fixing the screen issues)
I'm rooted and have twrp installed. When I click on the system update I get a popup to update cyanogen recovery. What if I ignore it and install the update anyway. Will it work ?
Will my data be deleted ?

You cannot update that 20mb zip using twrp. You have to update using cyanogen recovery.

You can do one thing
Flash Stock recovery image only from fastboot commands and then apply this 20MB OTA and then revert back to twrp via fastboot commands
I have twrp and have updated 20+ times... Never had an issue.

Issues updating OTA - Rooted + TWRP

Hi Everyone
Can anyone please stop my suffering? I tried everything and I am lost...
My phone kept asking me to update to KAS254 which I finally managed to do by flashing stock recovery...but now it is giving me another OTA, some weird alphanumeric combination, around 60MB.
Thing is I cannot update it and the update keeps popping up and I am going crazy already.
TWRP returns this log:
Code:
...
....
Source: oneplus/bacon/A0001: 6.0.1/MHC19Q/ZNH2KAS254 : user/release-keys
Target: oneplus/bacon/A0001: 6.0.1/MHC19Q/ZNH2KAS2X1 : user/release-keys
Verifying current system...
Package expects build fingerprint of oneplus/bacon/A0001/6.0.1/MHC19Q/ZNHKAS254 : user/release-keys or oneplus/bacon/A0001: 6.0.1/MHC19Q/ZNH2KAS2X1 : user/release-keys;
this device has oneplus/bacon/A0001: 5.1.1/LMY48B/YOG4PAS1NO: user/release-keys
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file '@/cache/recovery/block.map

So appearently, I still have some Android L leftovers, but I don't know what that is.
Could anyone please help? I am going nuts!!
Thanks XDA!!!

You can not do OTA with a customer recovery like TWRP. If you want the latest stock firmware you will need to download the latest from https://cyngn.com/support and flash all the files via fastboot then reinstall TWRP and SuperSU for root.

What do you mean did not work? What happen when you flashed all the stock files via fastboot?
are you saying that I should apply the downloaded file via fastboot?
what I did is downloaded the recovery and updated to KAS54, then another update popped up and again I cannot update...no I get the same error, but this time it says I have KAS254 and the package expects something newer..
