Hi there,...
i thinking of buying a HTC one s for my girlfriend,... I have some questions and I hope you guys can give some information
I saw that the HTC One S (T-Mobile branded) is beeing selled for about 399€. Non-Branded device is about 450 € +-
My first question,... is it possible to remove the t-mobile branding by installing a original HTC Firmware to this device? Normally this shouldn´t be a problem, right?
Second question: I saw that there are some devices with a new chipset?? Are there any problems with the first chipset or what is the reason for this "second chipset (C2)" ??
I´m little bit afraid of buying a device with the first chipset because 2 month ago I´ve bought myself a HTC One X and it was affected of this WLAN issue,... so I was forced to send it back to Amazon,... Don´t want to experience the same trouble with the One S.
Thanks in advance!!
with best regards
X-Cident
Yeah u can remove all of tmobiles boot stuff by running an ruu on the phone and what ur talking about is s4 chip and a3 chip T-Mobile only sell s4 chip which is the better one
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
ok, thanks for the answer so far.
Are you sure that t-mobile is just selling devices with a S4 processor?

TMOUS phone works great on other GSM network, but it depends on your network.. I'm on AT&T with One S and still get HSPA:11
You can just buy an unlock code online or request one from TMOUS if you can, otherwise you need to unlock the bootloader -> root -> follow the sim unlock process on the dev section.

Hi Guys,
I'm just won the HTC One E8 sprint version on an ebay auction, i didnt received the phone yet but i already know that is locked to sprint, i started to look for an unlocking code in trusted websites like cellunlocker.net and masterunlockcode but they dont have listed codes for the E8 sprint version.
Is there any possibility or working method to gsm unlock the HTC ONE E8 sprint version ?.
Thanks and regards,

***Here's my story trying to get GSM sim card to work on E8.***
Before I bricked my E8, I was able to get it UNLOCK (S-OFF) via SunShine(Theroot.ninja, cost you $25). I confirmed that with Sprint's original rom, you won't be able to use any GSM sim cards WHATSOEVER. (I've tried AT&T's & T-mobile) However, *I think* the correct procedure should be: 1.) get it S-OFF, 2.) change cid by fastboot oem writecid & 3.) wipe or install new rom in order to get GSM sim card recognized. Hopefully this info helps.
**BTW, can any one spare some time and do a TWRP backup for me to recover my messed-up E8? I would be very appreciated.

That's not acurate.
I have a Sprint HTC One E8 with lollipop (5.0.2) and it was sucessfully unlocked. I am using it right now.
You must try sunshine and buy a license. ATT an T-mobile sims will not work.

Hi everyone. I'm in a similar situation. I live in Italy (sorry for my english, guys ) and I bought a branded Sprint HTC One E8 too from USA (single sim and made in Taiwan version). It arrived here supposedly unlocked (my UMTS sim works fine) and with Android Kitkat 4.4.2 installed on.
My intention is to upgrade it to Lollipop but I'm wondering if it is possible, because:
1. If I flash the Spring rom, what happens? Should the phone remains unlocked or it will be re-locked to Spring? And how will I be able to unlock it again?
2. If I change CID and install a stock rom (asian or european ones), I don't know if my sim card will work properly, because the Asian and European Rom are Gsm rom while the Spring rom is WCDMA rom( very similar to UMTS), as reported in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-e8/help/htc-one-e8-mid-cid-ruu-ota-twrp-t2903210
Very confused I need your support, thanks in advance :good:

Do you know if the previous owner had the phone unlocked by sprint? You should flash a custom recovery , do a backup and the try tu update to 5.0. If you lose GSM capabilities you can go back to 4.4
Do not flash any Asian or European roms, most of them are dual sI'm and sprint is single
So does anyone know a method to remain unlocked
My E8 is working fine on 4.4.2 with sprint badboy unlock but will it stay that way if i update to latest by OTA.

Unlock is permanent even if you take OTA. If you don't want to take a risk just do a backup of your current version and take the OTA, if you lose your unlock go back to your previous version.
Still not sure about it
Someone on other thread said that if u update u loose unlock and than u can't go back.
So has anyone tried.

I was in USA and I bought.
Sorry not possible because it's unlocked via network.
If there is a boot loader unlock in future it may be possible depending on how the simlock is implemented. HTC M8 requires Supercid to do the Sim unlock though..... LG G2 on Sprint required root and a CDMA tool.

Sony bootloaders have nothing to do with SIM unlock, so a bootloader unlock will not help.
As of now, the bootloader remains unlockable.

Hmm,
The bootloader of a Z3 can be unlocked via the Sony website.
Its only unofficial unlocks that cannot be done
EDIT
Of course the USA variants are all locked down though, but that's T-Mobile or AT&T doing that, not Sony

Yes, I've watched the video, but the bootloader for the T-mobile variant, D6616, cannot be unlocked.

Just want to say that the US unlocked & unbranded version is the D6603 just like in Europe. You bought one specifically made for a carrier, next time be more careful I guess. I suppose you should sell it back in the US or return it if possible.
The only way I can think of is to mail it back to a usa person. Have them get tmob to unlock it. Mail it back to russia. Not impossible just a pita. Once tmob allows you to put any sim in your set (essentially releasing there grimy fingers from it). Considering how greedy these ****e carriers are, good luck even asking them even if you have a good standing acct.
Hello everyone, I have this Samsung Galaxy S8+ Phone. Mobile carrier is Docomo from Japan and it's sim locked is there anyway to unlock this? Model is SC-03J how can i use this for another mobile carrier?

Unfortunately I can't. I think the true owner of the phone is required for unlocking it. I need different ways to unlock it. Can I just install another samsung s8+ firmware to this phone?

Can i just flash a rom that is SM-950FD to this phone? This rom has a dual sim feature but the SC-03J only has one sim. Will this work? i mean its okay even if its just one sim i just want it to work on my country.

No. There's no firmware or ROM that will SIM unlock it.
You'll need to have the original owner unlock the phone for you OR purchase the phone already unlocked - no software can unlock it for you.
Docomo and Softbank are extremely strict when it comes to unlocking a phone, you need to have an account with them for a few months, pay off the phone, and you'll be able to unlock the phone. If you don't then having it unlocked *remotely* is out of the question unless you sent it to someone who can unlock it for you.
Sorry to revive the thread after so long.
I have similar situation. I have a NTT Docomo s8+. I have unlocked it as well, it now works with my ATT sim in USA.
problem is the annoying Docomo apps in Japanese.
I am not able to rid of it completely.
Can I flash a US-Unlocked stock ROM or any custom ROM ?
pls let me know how.
Pls note my phone is Snapdragon based, (unfortunately most ROMs are for Exynos version).
