I'minterested in creating a custom rom, however I have no idea where to start and what programs I need. I'm on Windows right now and I have Android Studio installed, but I'm not sure I'm able to create a rom with that. I would like a program with the highest level of customization. The

Hello there,
I tried to compile the Camera app from CyanogenMod (11). For that, I imported the app in Eclipse.
As soon as I imported the application, I got 8000+ errors.
I tried solving one or two, but it wont matter anyway, as they are 8000+!
So, I tried to import the AOSP camera app, and the condition was still the same.
My question is, is there some external package to be imported before I import the camera app?
If there is please inform me about it. awaiting reply.

Like the rules of this forum said, the mission of XDA Assist is to provide basic help to those who have tried searching but can't find what they are looking for and need assistance.
This is not a "helpdesk" providing technical assistance but more to point you in the correct direction with your problem. Perhaps you can't find posts on how to root your phone, install custom recovery or maybe you have questions about how to navigate and use features on the site.

Hello Everyone,
I am Ireen. Last few weeks I have been trying to build a custom ROM and I finally did it. But most important and confusing thing is how I flash this ROM to my device. I am not using popular device like HTC or Samsung I am using a Chinese tablet (MTK). So from this step what I have to do to flash this ROM to my device. On some tutorial they suggest to download kernel source code from HTC or Samsung website. If I manage kernel source code for this device then how I marge it with my ROM and prepare my rom perfect for flashing into my device.?
I just need some guide lines. Any tutorial or thread link will help.

I need a custom rom for my AOC P50, cause the factory rom is unstable and slow, or any ideas where I can get the original Rom and modify it. any help would be great! thanks.

Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Unfortunately I'm unable to find a single piece of information on your device. This is pretty common for low-end devices as they just don't receive attention from developers. I'd suggest you keep researching online and see what you can come up with, and also keep an eye out in the Miscellaneous Android Development section to see if anything pops up.

Firstly, happy new year to everyone c:
As the title says, I'm considering making my own ROM for the SM-G731F.
I've lurked around XDA for quite a while now and I can't seem to find a guide that's able to clarify the process for me.
So I decided to make a post here,
The ROM I want to make should be something as close to AOSP as possible (for what I've seen, no Cyanogen or ROMs alike are available, so..), but my programming skills are lacking.
Even with guides about building or porting ROMs I haven't yet figured out where to start.
So here come a few questions:
1. Can I build a AOSP ROM for my Samsung device (AFAIK I need some base ROM right?)
2. Assuming that porting is not an option, is building a ROM from scratch a viable way to do this? (Even though my programming skills are close to none I've had some experience with C and I'm willing to put in the effort)
3. What will be the main challenges to this?

Hey guys, I just wanted to ask how I may go onto flashing Android onto this Chinese Fake Iphone.
What i've gathered so far is that this fake Iphone has sometype of Android already on it. I just want to know how I may go to reformatting and flashing a new rom on it.
