I Know I aleady posted a thread like this, but it was closed before a found a solution, please dont close this one too!
I have an old smartphone (model specified above), which I have tried to find a root for it (like FOREVER), every single root I found wasn't able to do the job. Either the program alerted me that the phone is not supported , or tried to root and failed. I have looked into other threads with the same problem, and they either didn't have a solution, or simply directed me towards stickys with rooting programs that also didn't work.
I want to root it so I can uninstall some of the build-in apps that I dont use (such as facebook, youtube, and out-of-date & un-updateable operator apps.). They function poorly, take up space, and worst of all: they run in the backround (and on old phones such as this every megabyte of RAM counts.) Please help me.
Is there something I'm missing? A vital step a skip or something? Do i need to unlock the bootloader to root?
I probably have a custom ROM of the operator this phone was originally purchased from, does it make any difference?
If Anyone can explain to me step-by-step what and how to root, or point me to a usefull guide, i will be forever thankful.
The file attached is a example to one of many failed roots.

hello,
recently bought an arc s, and started reading about root and the advantages of having custom roms, until I read several things follow a topic, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683957, and now I have huge errors in my phone, as keyboard failure, left also have the option in the settings xperia, at the end I could not do any root, which failed? I have to follow to do a root and put a custom rom?
please ask for help, I've seen all the forum and can not find a solution.
I'm with 4.1.B.0.587, 4.0.4
my version of arc is LT15i
ok now fine all seting, but can't root.
i follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874801 but not root, anyone help?
I have an old smartphone (model specified above), which I have tried to find a root for it (like FOREVER), and misrebly failed. I think that the problem is that I own the LT18A model, while every single root I found was worked for the LT18I users (as it seems in the comments).

Thread closed, thanks.
Hey guys, i'll try to explain my problem, sorry if you found some redaction fails, because i use to speak spanish, not english.
So, i'm trying to unlock the bootloader of a Xperia X8 following the instructions of this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1549696
I've done almost everything, but, when i have to use de "Flashtool" i have a problem that won't let me continue the work.
I run the program, ok.
Connect the phone, ok.
The program detects the phone, ok.
But, when i click on "Plugins" it shows me no items, totally empty. I thought that was a version's problem, so i downloaded the 0.6.8.0v, the 0.9.18.5, and finally 0.8.0.0 but stills the same problem.
Can someone give me a hand?
I also started to do this after giving it back to an original stock rom (russian).
I don't know what else to do so, please, help me!

Hey All,
I received a Sony Xperia SX SO-05D phone and I really want to upgrade it to a custom ROM. The current one is packed with apps that I don't need, not to mention that it's barely moving.
I couldn't find anything on the forum and the stuff that I've found on google seems kind of sketchy (the downloads of the ROM's don't feel right).
Any help/reference links/legit rom downloads will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Im running the 4.1.2 version and although i found some guides, they are all made with different ways. I need some help on how can i root the phone because i have completely no idea about this stuff. I dont even know what means ice cream sandwitch, jellybean, kittkat, flashtool, Bootloader, kernel and all these terms i just wanna root this phone for better usage. Could someone show me a newbie way to do it? I havent done any change/configuration to my phone ever, i only typed a code on my dialpad and i found out that its "allowed" to root my phone.
