[Q] Sony Xperia Z3 Root - General Questions and Answers

Hey devs I really need your help to root my Sony Xperia Z3 (D6653) I've been googling for days and cannot find a single thread or YT Vid on what to do, I've rooted multiple phones before without any problem but it's seemingly more difficult on Xperia devices. I am currently running the firmware version "23.0.1.A.5.77" on 4.4.4 KitKat and from what I've gathered that version isn't supported but needs to be downgraded to "#.#.#.A.#.93" then re-upgraded to .77
I've heard about how rooting Z3's will result in losing DRM keys, now I am not sure what that means or how I'm meant to back it up so that I don't lose camera quality, that's the last thing I want! I've also read about these elusive .ftf files that I need to somehow flash to my Z3 but I can't find anywhere to download said files. I have downloaded FlashTools, AndroidTools, Giefroot and XperiaFirm but there are no adequate walkthroughs that help me with my specific version of phone. I know it's mainly because my phone has a bootlocker but I do know that it is unlockable so at least I got that going for me :good: I have however seen the video by WWJoshDew for rooting Z3 and he seems to fix his locked bootloader but he doesn't give enough information as to how. I really need a proper guide/walthrough on how to root my Xperia Z3 D6653 on .77
any help is appreciated!

[Q] I cant be root user in xperia neo 4.0.2.A.0.69

I can't be root in Xperia neo 4.0.2.A.0.69 after update the software truth the Pc Companion... Before that,i was root...but now no.
Rooting Status: Bootloader unlock allowed: No
I can't do anything to be root????
Please,Help Me Developers. I don't know what to do... Thanks.
The only thing you can do is to go back to firmware .42, root it here and update then OTA to .69
that's (as far as I know) the only way to root a .62 or .69 xperia.
the only problem is that Multiupload is dead. so the .42 firmware file is not available at the moment.
That's why I keep at firmware 58.

hey
i just did it like you said.
i downgradet to .42, rooted it and updatet it to .69.
before updating, it had root, now after the update root is gone.
is there any posibility to root it directly in .69?
Go to Xperia Neo thread. You can find all the info there.
sent from my digital typewriter
im there since 5 hours or more
downloades many firmwares and stuff but nothing worked
well, maybe i open a thread there

[Q] Rooting Sony Xperia Miro

Hi all,
I have tried to root my new Sony Xperia Miro (Vodafone UK). I have Android SDK and Superoneclick. Superoneclick gets stuck on "waiting for device" when I launch the rooting process (I have unmounted my SD). I have trawled Google, but I haven't found anything that helps.
The phone isn't listed on XDA, I assume, because it's hot off the press. Any advice would be appreciated.
Sincerely, Noob.

Do you need an unlocked bootloader for this?
Nope, at least, I hadn't. I pulled my Miro out of the box, set up the device with my Google account, and started the script. The first three times it failed, but the fourth time it worked. I suppose I didn't unlock the bootloader in the process.
I'll also try to see if I can. :cyclops:
King regards,
Jorge
I ran version 11 and got the first!!
Excellent!!
Many thanks to the developers!!
root miro
root didn't work on new firmware on miro :crying:
Sony repaired bug and now this tool dont work ..
You need to revert back to firmware 11.0.A.2.10 in order to root. I had my miro updated
to 11.0.A.5.5 but I was unable to root it. I reverted back to 11.0.A.2.10 (using flashtool
and ST23i_11.0.A.2.10_CentralEurope.ftf) and then I rooted it easily with "Root_with_Restore
_by_Bin4ry_v18".
If you are not planning on installing a custom rom, just flash it with a clear OEM 11.0.A.5.5
firmware so as to get rid of all the crap that came with your phone.

[Q] Xperia Z3 (Rooted TW) Mirrorlink Issue

Hello Everyone,
When connecting the phone to USB Mirrorlink device in my car XAV-601BT I get an error on the phone saying Unknown USB Error and the screen does not mirror.
I have looked up and down the forums for a solution to this particular problem to no avail.
Here are the necessary facts
My Xperia Z3 is Rooted (TeamWin) with Bootloader unlocked which I understands affect some functionalities that require certain DRM Licensing
One of those functionalities is Mirrorlink which you guys have already provided a ported APK that works fine on rooted Xperia Z and Z2 (or any phone running Android 4.4.2) but not the Z3 (possibly because it uses Andriod 4.4.4)
Has anyone come across a solution for this or was able to get it to work without unrooting the phone?
I would appreciate any help you can give me
Regards
Rami

[Q] Will a brand new Z3 be still rootable ?

Hi,
im looking at buying a Z3 at the weekend but the main thing is will it be still rootable? Im not sure what firmware it will come with
Are all versions still able to achieve root?
If so could someone link me to the best root method, much appreciated
I've bought a Z3 3 weeks ago and it rooted just fine. You do need to flash an older firmware

5.0.2 isn't rootable, at least not directly.
As long as we have root method for at least one fw available for device we can root all new firmwares.
So...it's not a problem to root Z3, no matter which fw was on it.
All you need is to downgrade to 4.4.4 (version that could be rooted), root it, install recovery and then upgrade by flashing prerooted ROM.
Z3 will retain root possibility as long as its alive...
Of course, all of that applies for locked bootloader.
If you want to unlock bootloader, you could root device by flashing kernel via fastboot...
Z3 powered by Tapatalk
thanks for the help, phone is coming tomorrow so it will be the first thing i do.
Coming from a nexus 5 so should be quite an improvement, especially battery life.
Another Question
is app2sd built into the firmware? or do you need a third party app which requires root?
things i need installed on SD card:
all games / apps including titanium backup PRO
can it be done?
If you get a new T-mobile Z3, you will not be able to root or unlock the bootloader.

D6603 Lollipop Root

Hey everyone,
I just got my Xperia and am loving the device itself, but I definitely would like to root to get rid of a lot of the bloatware. The only problem is that I've heard rooting loses the custom Sony camera software, and I'm on Lollipop so I'm not sure if that affects it. I've looked at some root threads but none seem to apply to my firmware.
Android Ver: 5.0.2
Firmware: 23.1.A.0.726
Any help or pushes in the right direction are very appreciated.
Thanks!
you can use kingroot iirc but I dont recommend it due to it sending your IMEI number to an unknown IP address in china... I would honestly just say to flash an older firmware and do the locked bootloader root :/
