I just got my Oneplus one, and it seems to be really good. I got a few doubts though:
I have the Indian version. Does that make any difference in rooting, flashing, bootloader etc?
1) I have copied a lot of music to my phone. Also i have a lot of conversations in Whatsapp backed up. So if I flash the Oxygen OS when it comes out or flash some other ROM, will I lose all my music and whatsapp daily backups? (On my previous phone it was all on SD card so it was all safe).
2) I have the XNPH05Q incremental update available after I bought the phone. But I have read a lot of issues like phone getting heated and worst battery drain. So are these bugs fixed or I shouldnt update to 05Q?
3) Only after reading about the yellow tint, I feel there is a slight yellow tint at the bottom. Will it be fixed in future software updates or with some tricks or should i get my phone replaced if its hardware problem/permanent?
4) When I was charging my phone at 5% battery, the temperature got insanely hot after 30 minutes. It was like 42 C. I read that at lower battery level the phone gets too hot. Does this mean I got a bad piece or the issue can be fixed?
There is no difference in rooting/unlocking procedures.
1) To flash OxygenOS you will need to unlock your bootloader. Unlocking bootloader wipes the internal memory. So, you'll lose all your data. Back it up.
2) I had installed the latest incremental update as soon as the phone arrived. Did not notice any problems, but I flashed CM12 immediately so didn't get much time to test everything on CM11s. Many people don't know that the battery drain is due to the new Play Services. I have battery drain issues on my Note 2 also. Wait and see what others have to say here. Not so sure about the bugs.
3) You noticed the yellow tint only after reading about it. If you didn't notice it earlier, it simply means that it's not so much of a huge problem after all. Sadly, future software updates cannot fix the tent. The decision to replace your device or get a refund for it, i'll leave it to you. Personally I wouldn't compromise with such wonderful hardware at such a great price just for a yellow tint.
4) Not so sure about this one. But sometimes devices get overheated due to wrong adapters/cables. Are you using stock charger and cable? My note 2 gets overheated everytime I charge it using my new cable but temp stays normal using older cable. Try swapping cable and/or adapter.

About point 4:
That isn't insanely hot, that isn't even hot, that's actually quite a moderate temperature. I've seen this device go above 60°C before, 42°C is a pretty reasonable temp for a smartphone, especially while charging, so it's nothing to worry about.

Congrats on getting such a great phone.
Regarding charging at 5%--when your battery is that low, the system is breaking its butt to charge it with lots more current flowing through it especially if you are draining it at the same time, because it's struggling to keep up with the demand. It's bound to get hotter charging at 5% then at 95%. Really shouldn't ever let it get so low if you can help it, especially if draining it at the same time as charging.

Isnt my data stored on external partition? i copied over 10+ GB of data. How big is Internal storage? 2GB?
Yea I too saw the Play services posts. Can you link me a good guide for disabling without hindering normal usage?
And I am using the stock cable.
Also are there any cons if I unlock the bootloader and Root?

When he says internal storage he means the user accessible partition, the virtual sd card. That, along with any apps and settings (stored in the /data partition) will be completely wiped when you unlock the bootloader. Everything except the OS is wiped. That's why you need to do it before you actually start using the phone. The internal storage partition is about 55gb before you start putting data onto the phone. The system partition (which includes apps) takes up the rest of the space.
I have a guide on stopping the Google Play Services battery drain here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2832525
There are absolutely no cons to unlocking your bootloader and rooting your phone, only benefits.

I just want to use some Root specific applications.

You're in India, right? These Indian phones won't be receiving any updates at all due to Micromax having exclusivity rights to CM there. You can still receive updates even with an unlocked bootloader and root, but because you have an Indian device you won't be able to receive them automatically. You'll still be able to download the OTA and flash it manually though.

That's interesting, it goes against what's been reported in the past. Perhaps it's just the initial CM12S that's going to be released to India, and the nothing after that.

You can go back to 44S pretty easily, there's a stock rooted 44S ROM that you can flash from TWRP recovery. I have a link to it in my index thread (the link top that is in my signature).

G'day people I've run into something pretty weird with my OnePlus One. I installed the CM12 nightly and booted it up, ran it for a few hours then got ghost touches and the screen became unresponsive at times.
So, having my usual backup of CM11S, I wiped and restored to the latest backup I had and everything was weird. I kept getting ghost touches and reduced responsiveness, and sometimes it would just randomly malfunction and not unlock and just keep the screen off.
Rebooting clears up the problem for about 5 minutes and then it comes back at full blast.
I tried installing the last CM11S update via flashing Calkunins stock XNPH44S zip and still I have all these weird issues that wasn't there before I flashed the CM12 nightly.
Has anyone come across this problem or is it just me and my device? It's seriously a cause for concern, and I'm posting this to both XDA and the OnePlus forums in hopes of getting some sort of help and relief in this situation.
Any assistance is appreciated and I thank you in advance for taking the time to read this.
reflash cm12 nightly and try again.
perhaps use fastboot to flash the partitions .
You might need to find a copy of the first cm11s rom and try that one. I have a feeling your one of the unlucky with firmware sensitivity.
Which date is your phone from? (its on the box)
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
GO back to completely factory fresh, via fastboot commands.
If you still have problems, it's a hardware issue then.

not entirely true, there are different screens, that could be the issue. It was reported in boeffla kernel thread. sesrch throught it and it might contain something useful to try.
also open a support question, Oneplus needs to know how annoying their poor choice of different lcds are

I'll try to flash CM11S via fastboot to see if it clears up the issue. For now, the date I got mine is 2014-07-16. Shipped to me after 12 days (International shipment via courier)
UPDATE
Flashing CM11S via fastboot resolved all issues as far as I can tell.
Will remain on the lookout for the bugs in the future but for now I'm happy to say it worked for me.
Thank you all again for the advice and guidance, it was appreciated.

Nobody was trying to "punk" you. There are usually several different potential causes for the same symptom, all he was doing was highlighting that and adding extra information in order to help further (in the case that flashing the stock images didn't help, which has happened many times). He was also trying top help the OP. Calm down.

I thought it was the partition thing too because I had almost the same problem on my HTC Amaze back in 2014, and flashing the OEM RUU helped with sorting things out.
But as for the random screen touches, flashing everything from fastboot helped for only a few hours. The symptoms came back after a while, specifically when I replaced my music and pictures. I'm thinking that I may have a corrupted file on it somewhere but I doubt it'll cause a malfunction like that.
So I tried flashing Franco Kernel, and it seems to have cleared it up..... for now.
It's so frustrating thinking that my device may be defective
UPDATE #2
Flashing Franco Kernel didn't help. Symptoms came back within a couple hours. Will try a custom ROM, specifically AOPK (because I want to )
If that doesn't fix the issue then I've just got to face the fact that I have a defective device (somehow)
Bump
Nothing worked. I contacted the manufacturer but they seem to think doing a factory reset will help. It didn't.
Flashing CM11S via fastboot doesn't help
I really think this is a hardware issue that just emerged from nowhere, probably due to lack of premium or standardized quality adhesive.
There's a really long thread over at the OnePlus forums about a guy who found it was a grounding issue and took some adhesive tape to insulate the area near the proximity sensor (I think? I'll include the link in here somewhere)
Honestly, OnePlus impressed me....at first. But I cannot use a phone that's not working properly.
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...-hint-it-was-never-a-software-problem.186235/
Same problem here... I had the first ghost touches after having installed CM12 Nightly.
I was using CM12 built by Daleski75 so far without any issue. The problem does not appear on a regular basis and when it does, a reboot seems to fix it, at least for a few minutes/hours.
I'll try a clean install when the stable version is out (don't really want to wipe now and once more in two/three weeks).
@rdar_93: Did you find a solution? Are you going to send the device back to OnePlus? If it is actually a hardware issue, that will be enough for me, no more OPO. Sending the device back to China after 2 months of use and having to pay for the shipping is not acceptable.
Edit: It's getting worse... I am gonna wipe soon. Here is a short video: drive.google.com/file/d/0B-EYHGTB15_wS1JXdXlmZXVsT0k/view?usp=sharing
I can't post link for now so you'll have to copy and paste it in your browser.
Edit2: After a full wipe and the installation of the latest nightly, the situation seems to be better, even though I will have to use the phone a bit more to see if it happens again. By the way, I lost dt2w and the gestures don't work well, if not at all... When I draw a V, nothing happens, when I draw a circle, the phone behaves as if I did a double tap. Weird. Again, this happens after a wipe+latest nightly installation+wipe again (to be sure ).

I contacted them and they sent me a program to use. It uses fastboot to flash CM11S and probably fix the partitions that are messed up (I'm making an assumption)
UNFORTUNATELY I'm stuck in a bootloop.
I'm so angry, disappointed and depressed at the same time. I paid about $2500 TTD (in my country) which is probably the equivalent to somebody's rent. I had to work a month to save up the money to buy this and it turns out that the device is faulty after a certain amount of time (or at least mine was)
This is BS.
They said to send them a snapshot of what went on with the fastboot thing, so I figure I"ll upload it here too.

I guess you didnt unlock bootloader first
Which when you do wipes the phone so you loose all your stuff.
possible workaround is fasboot on custom recovery and then flash the zip that sets unlock status and circumvents the whole format thing

I actually did unlock my bootloader.
PS I also got tired of seeing CM11S try to boot up so I flashed ColorOS (because it's the only rom I had on my laptop. Why not download another 4.4.x AOSP rom? Unstable wifi at school)
So yeah, wifi is not turning on. Gonna try the program again. I wonder if it would work this time?
The conditions aren't as different as before, could work, right?
Honestly I want to wait but they take so long to reply.
UPDATE
After flashing ColorOS I decided to go back and try doing the CM11S via fastboot commands. Still got a bootloop but hey I got the correct fastboot logo now in case if it made a difference.
So I did the compulsory flashing commands when I went from Color to CM11S and still bootlooped.
So I booted into fastboot again
fastboot oem unlock (supposed to unlock bootloader and reboot if it's locked, no reboot if unlocked [assumption])
then rebooted into fastboot again, ran the batch files OnePlus sent to me which essentially flashed CM11S just like you would over fastboot, but with added modems etc.
Successfully booted into CM11S without issues, WiFi works again and so far no symptoms as yet.
Will keep this post updated if anything happens.
My screenshots of the batch file commands OnePlus sent would be found in the attachments.
UPDATE 2
So I think it's fixed permanently this time.
I'm not sure though. It hasn't done anything weird. I will copy my music and photos to see if that would cause anything to happen
I would stay away from os since it messes up partition and people ran into data drop out and modem issues.
Cm11s Roms are the way to go on this hardware.
FYI, when you flash CM12 the radio is overwritten with an alpha/beta radio which causes (well, caused for me) THE EXACT issues OP was having in CM11/S. The CM12 radio (as far as I can tell) ONLY works with CM12 - making going back a PITA.
If you have the baseband in this thread (see screenshot in first post) then that means you are on the experimental radio and are going to have a bad time if you aren't on CM12.
I flashed the latest OTA radio found here and all was right with the world (at least where my OPO was concerned ).

I would like to go back to CM11s to check if the situation is better. I tried to flash the lastest CM12 build and it seems to be better but still not as good as before
When I do a wipe and then flash the ROM in TWRP, there are some "folder already up to date", which I would like to avoid. What I would like to do is doing a complete clean install of either CM12 or CM11s plus rewriting the partitions,... So that I'm sure if the problem is still here it is due to an hardware issue.
Is there any chance someone can help me with this? Even with a link... I searched for "write partition" without any luck :-/
Thanks !
EDIT: Do you think the OnePlusRecovery Tool can help me with this?
Lately my Android OS has been using A LOT of data. I'm just curious to see if anyone else has had the issue.
In the last 30 days, my Android OS has used approx. 27 GB.
I am rooted, and was on NDE63V when this occurred.
I am currently in the process of updating my phone to the latest firmware for (what I believe is) only Canadian carriers. So I am hoping the solves the issue.
I downloaded a data usage app which helps limit apps from using data, and tells me which ones are doing it.
Currently, through this app my usage falls under:
Android System - 11 GB
com.qti.service.colorservice - 6.8 GB
com.qualcomm.atfwd - 6.8 GB
com.qualcomm.fastdormancy - 3.8 GB
At first it was just the fastdormancy one that was getting me, until I went into TiBU and froze it. After that, it stopped using data but the other 3 really started eating up my data.
I feel like I was going to post more in this, so if anyone wants more relevant information, please let me know. I really need this figured out. I have had to upgrade my plan from 10gb to 25 gb and now I am already 8gb over my limit. Last night I was 4gb under it. My phone has somehow used 12 gb in roughly 14 hours.
I checked my brothers stock Pixel XL, and Android OS has used only (but still seems like a lot) 300mb. Which I attributed to his update to the latest firmware for Canadian carriers, which was roughly 260mb.
Can anyone help shed some light onto what is happening with my data?
Possibly related to the seemless update function failing because of root. The pixel can't apply the update and keeps downloading it over and over again. for me applying the latest OTA fixed the issue. another solution is to disable the automatic updates in the developer options
Sent from my Pixel using XDA-Developers mobile app
My mobile data usage has doubled after moving to the PIxel despite near identical usage to previous phone.
For me com.qti.service.colorservice is the culprit but have no idea why or what it is for.

Bummer! I was hoping it was a setting fix. Still not sure why it started happening for no reason. I'll have to back up my data, wipe, sideload the update, re-root, then restore my data. I was hoping to avoid all that mess, but it seems to be the only way to apply the update.

To each their own. Just simply stated the way that I did it to not lose data as I prefer manually doing it.
I had the EXACT same issue that I struggled with. There's a bug on the build you're on and it'll keep trying to download that OTA as long as you have data enabled (regardless if Wifi is enabled - ARG!!!).
I just got over $50 in usage charges that I know of, then I left my phone on with data and my bill says $600..... I flashed NMF26Q and it corrected the issue. Only a mb or two every few hours. With this bug, I was downloading a gig a day! Need to call my carrier and see if they'll credit some of those charges. Hope this helps!
my phone used over 110gb of data last month because of this error I am getting a refund from verizon now but has anyone figured out the problem? I just updated to the latest version and hope it stops killing my data otherwise i dont know what to do

Hey guys! So I buyed the Honor 8 2 days ago and it never goes to sleep.

How can I force upgrade it? I'm new to the Honor Line.

Before going there....try a few things: set power plan to smart, descease the resolution, click the gear icon and the select for wifi and data to stay off when you screen is off, have 0 protected apps , also open the device management to see what else you need to adjust like screen brightness, auto-rotate etc

@Christopher876 suggested to me an app called ForceDoze which i think it helps even further. If you still have issues you can try this method to upgrade to Nougat (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69885525&postcount=11) then downgrade to the marshmallow firmare you want....Unfortunately i don't know if you can skip to upgrading to Nougat first but if you don't mind the trouble. Here is what i did: (thanks to @Sheldd for so kindly explaining to me in pm)
Code:
Hello, so look, first, i have Honor 8 FRD-L09 (European model with 32gb) and to downgrade from Beta Nougat B320 to Marshmallow B131 i've done this: *ALL OF YOUR DATA WILL BE LOST
1-Download this: (download the one suitable for your model)
2-Download this: (same as number 1)
3-Format your SD CARD.
4-Unzip the "dload" folder from the first zip you downloaded (ROLLBACK PACKAGE) and copy on the SD CARD. *THE SD CARD NEED TO BE EMPY,ONLY THE DLOAD FOLDER NEED TO BE THERE
5-Turn off your phone.
6-Press and hold Volume UP+Volume DOWN+Power button. Now he will downgrade to B300
7-Unzipe the "dload" folder from the second zip (ANDROID B131) and copy on the SD CARD.
8-Press and hold Volume UP+Volume DOWN+Power button. Now he will downgrade to B131 and will reset your phone
Thats all, anyway, if you want to be sure everything is fine you can do a factory reset
*Note you have to download the correct files for your model whether FRD-L09, L04 etc..., your data will be lost when downgrading, you have to wipe your SD card (it is a must to created the folder in the SD card)
If anyone else has a better way please share it
Use app called greenify
Update to the latest OTA, and factory reset

Thanks, the problem persists even after the factory reset.
I wanted to follow the instructions given to me to upgrade to nougat then downgrade but dont understand.
I have the US variant.
I had a similar experience over the past couple of days in nougat 320 (it was fine before), I googled a bit and found that Google backup may be the culprit. I turned it off and then back on again later, and so far for the past 20 mins my battery is still at 100%.
Battery life is quite subjective. If you use your device all the time to check social media, play games, and consume media. Then you aren't gonna get a whole day's worth of battery from it.

The problem isn't the time I use it.
The problem is a stanby battery drain by the AndroidOS, my device isn't entering Deep Sleep and is always active, making stanby-time decrease.

Maybe if you attach some files similar to the ones I'm attaching, we can actually see something. Otherwise, Android System and Kernel are always (almost always) the two highest listed by CPU, which means almost nothing because every app that does anything at all has to use the API which uses Android System, .. and kernel.
Here are my attachments where Android System & Kernel are highest and yet in 16 hours, they've used < 20 minutes of time. Cpu deep sleep is at 80+ % averaged over the 16 hours. By the way, I'm on Nougat, but it was actually a bit better as shipped with Marshmallow.

Do you have any social media apps running in the background? As those often drain the battery as they are always connected to their company's respective servers.
HI
New to the forum - all help/ideas appreciated.
I've been having a problem for a few weeks that the battery shows 100% all the time. Obviously that's great in theory except when it then suddenly shuts down at the end of the day without warning! So I need to fix this so I can return to using/charging my phone as normal. I'm on a Moto G 3rd Gen phone, using android 5.1.1. I've tried using external battery monitoring apps - all show 100%. I've tried clearing the Cache Partition, doing a battery calibration (using an app). I'm reluctant to do a full factory reset (unless that's the overwhelming advice) due to the admin of backing up music, photos, videos etc.
Last thing to point out is my phone keeps asking me to upgrade to Marshmallow, which I've resisted so far given I love my phone and how well it works (or did until now). Don't know if that's relevant or not.
Any help/ideas/more info needed please let me know.
Thanks all
NB
Not a single idea? Nothing at all? Hard to believe I'm the only one ever to have experienced this.

OK so I updated to Marshmallow and no change in the battery status. Still showing 100% all the time. Thanks anyway.
Anyone got anything else I can try?

Let's try this. Download stock marshmallow ROM and flash it through fastboot ( clean flash )
Read all steps carefully before flashing
You will loose all your data, take backup before doing that.
Or try different custom ROM

Why are you so convinced the problem is the ROM? I'm no expert but it seems unlikely given it worked great for 18 months and the battery problem didn't coincide with any upgrade/update.
Has anyone else had any of these problems with their oneplus 6?
-files disappear after each reboot
-keyboard stops functioning on lock screen and I can't unlock the device
-apps randomly losing their data such as Snapchat/Instagram and I have to log back in
-can't use any other keyboard with a password since the device comes encrypted. My s7 used default keyboard before being decrypted.
I have factory reset at least 3-4 times since I have owned the device.
Oneplus customer support said in regards to my files being randomly deleted, "You should just backup your stuff with google drive". Is that really the solution? Just expect my files to be erased and have to recover from backup after each reboot? Most of the customer support people never understand my problems that I am trying to tell them and I can hardly understand them either. Sorry for ranting a bit. I was excited to get rid of my galaxy s7 and try something new that I was told has good rom support and little no bloat on stock ROM, but I've been very disappointed. I guess after seeing their customer support is partnered with Acer it makes sense.
Try a factory reset. I haven't heard anyone report such issues on OP6 before. If it still doesn't work after a factory reset, I would look for a warranty replacement

I've factory reset 3-4 times and still have the same issues. Corrupted ROM perhaps? I have seen a few people on one plus forums talk about how their files are being deleted, but those threads disappear magically. I talked to two people today who have the same issue.

I've been using it for almost a week with 0 issues... It's probably a faulty unit you're having, make sure it's running the latest 5.1.8 software.
Try installing a custom rom and see if it sorts things out

Yeah I always do the updates. I started having issues after I updated. Particularly the no keyboard on lock screen happened two updates ago.
Save method: send it back, claim warranty; do it yourself method: https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oneplus-6-oxygenos-5-1-8-official-download-links.836441/
Download full zip and flash it via system update
which files is it deleting and from what directory? never had any issues, really think a fresh install is best way, start over and don't do any fancy crap at first (root, etc). Root I used to do to every phone, fight and cuss it out because I was not careful, now I never ever root and I'm much happier

DCIM, Downloads, whatever directory downloaded Spotify music goes to, Some screenshots would disappear, but not all. I turned on logs and am going to give it another week or so.

Should I just switch to Android P?
P is still beta with lots of bugs. Some have said it's stable enough for a daily driver but ymmv.

It's possible you had a bad flash or bad download. Download a fresh copy of 5.1.8, check the MD5, and install from the system updater (not twrp). If the problems persist, you may have a faulty unit. In nearly a month, I haven't had any of the problems you describe.
