I lost signal to my carrier ( GiffGaff ) inside my house, I have no reception, and is not the sim card , as I have tested the sim card in my gf phone and works fine.
I need to unroot the phone, but I'm not sure how to do it, I want to go back how it was with out losing all my data from my 16gb internal memory.
please help
thank you
Why on earth would you root your phone without knowing if you could undo what you did? Search the dev section of the I9100. I 100% guarantee you can find out how to unroot your phone there.
how you root your phone ?
I reflashed a stock image on my s3 now I want to reflash stock with root. When I put my sim card in it the s3 wants to update the system..right now I have the note 2 if I take my sim card out of the note 2 and put it in my s3 just to update it then root it, will the update in my s3 mess my sim card up to where I cant use it correctly in my note 2? Its for a family memeber so theyre goin to put their sim in and I dont want them to erase the root by updating .
Sorry if this is a little confusing..
Thanks..

I'm not QUITE sure what you're trying to say, but I'll try my best to respond.
SIM cards shouldn't affect ANYTHING beyond telling the phone what carrier to operate on. If you update the phone itself, that's the phone's software. Nothing on the SIM should be touched. If you want to update a phone using the service from a SIM card (The GS3 in your case), the GS3 will recognize your service and download/install the update.
While the update may include new radios, etc. the update shouldn't mess up your SIM to the point of it not working on any phone.
I hope I helped. If you need anything else just ask.

You'll be fine. I picked up a lg spectrum locally and use the sin from my s3 to activate it just to take the ics ota. Put it back into my s3 without a problem. I actually for a week I would swap to the lg When at work and back when I left and never had a problem.
Sent from my SCH-I535
Updated rooted T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH- T999 using sammobile's firmware with Odin Pro mobile and lost all my phone contacts some apps and had to sign to Google just to get to home page. Is there a way to recover my data. Also I thought I was updating to Jellybean 4.1.2 but I still have 4.1.1. HELP!!!
Didn't you backup your contacts with Gmail contacts... Or saved them on SD card... Try importing from sim or sd card... But it will only work if you ever had a backup on them...
Hello all! I believe what I am trying to do is possible, but I am having trouble figuring out exactly where I should start.
I just bought a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 model SCH-I535 with a clear ESN on Ebay and am hoping to get it working with my Straight Talk service. It is running 4.0.4. Will I need to update? Is rooting required? I have tried updating manually but it failed. Is there a universal android 4.1.2 (or other) firmware file I need or do I need a file specifically for my phone?
The phone came with a Verizon sim card, and the phone I am currently using on ST does not have a sim card, so I am assuming that I will need to buy an AT&T sim card, right? Then I can activate that sim onto my ST account? Then the rest is a matter of the proper settings?
Thank you all for your expertise.
MY sister called ATt to unlock her phone when she went abroad, they did. Now she no longer has ATT and is with tmobile. Using the Tmobile sim card, she can't seem to upgrade her OS using the firmware update option in settings. How can she go about upgrading? she currently has android 4.1.2 with the NOte 2?
also if i flash aokp on her phone, but she don't like it, then flash back the original 4.1.2 firmware, would i lose the unlock that ATT did for her and she can't use Tmobile anymore?

Carrier unlocking is separate from ROM. If you can install custom recovery (CWM, TWRP), switching from ROM to ROM is as simple as doing a backup of one, wiping the device, and installing another ROM. Always save a back-up to your computer, and it's also a good idea (much easier in the end) to do a batch back-up through Titanium of all the user apps, so you can simply restore them to the new ROM instead of downloading them all over again and losing the app data.
Factory firmware can be obtained from sammmobile.com and are flashable with Odin (google it).
thanks for the help but why can't she update the stock rom from the settings though when she switched to tmobile? are the update locked to the att carrier?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The method Planterz gave you will give her the latest firmware. There's at least a few Lolipop ROMs for the Note 2
