Check this one. I don't have any idea about the availability
I get it that it's a bit of a problem to find the correct forum, but Chef Central surely isn't the right place to ask a question like this.
I'll move this to General Q&A. Good luck on finding a dual sim Android device.
More than one
Lightinthebox.com has a bunch of dual card phones. HTC, Samsung and Nokia have some as well. Do a search on these and you will find I do not know if any of these phones are of the newest tech as this was kinda a fad a year ago or so,
good luck...

So far only the general mobile has it: but it is android 1.6 and overall review are not great
I have a DSTL1, it's quite a bad phone. Old Android version, not working H.264 playback, no GPS, no 3D, no 3G. Furthermore the touchscreen stopped working after 1 year. There are many other people with touchscreen issues.
So I'm also looking to replace this phone. Currently I use a Gigabyte GSmart S1205. It's WM 6.5, so the OS is far worse compared to Android. But it's the only good dual sim smartphone I found. But I will replace it with an Android phone as soon as I find a good dual sim device.
There are some Android devices which can be found on different Chinese sites. But I haven't seen any reviews of them. You can find some of the phones listed in DSTL1 General Chat forum on Androidspin.
Be wary of some of the Chinaphone sites. I've found a number of phones claiming to run Android, but just have a home screen and apps menu that looks like Android, that's it.
So far I haven't found a good and reliable Android phone that has dual SIMs with dual standby. Everything has only one SIM active at a time.

Eventually (as alternative) a good Android phone with not so big screen size and good quality dual sim adapter for it?

dual sim phones
Well, there are really latest wifi dual sim phones available. I got it for my dad last month as he travels all time. He finds its great. You can check with Chinabuye, its online gadget store in China. You will get wide collections of dual sim phones at best rate. I was looking for better rates, i find its quite costlier at other shops like lightinthebox, linkchina.
hi everyone
i am new to this and always will be.
I have searched the forums but i lack the attention or technical know how to digest the information. On YouTube there are videos that says "how to update any phone t jelly bean" but they all want you to contract to a prepaid service of some kind
When i had my iPhone i found websites where you just download this APP, double clicked it and it updated everything for you
SOMEONE SOMEWHERE must be able to develop a generic app which will update any phone no what size, configuration or OS is on it ... c'mon techies n geeks ya letting us all down
I am looking for something similar ... pls help me
PLS REPLY to me personally and not on the forum ... there's just too much info and threads and i can't make heads or tails of it
Many many thanks
There's no app that will update it for you sorry
Also what kind of phone do you own?
Depending on your phone there may be options to achieve and upgrade to jellybean via ROMs or possibly ota (depending on your phone)
A good step would to be root first as you'll need it to achieve custom ROMs and recovery options
Like I said first state your phone model etc
So we can help
P.s hit the thanks button!

I didn't want to state my phone as i thought they were APPs out there that can update any phone to jelly bean
but the phone i have is the 5.3" blu studio phone

You can't update any phone to jellybean, too many devices to create a single solution. You also appear to have a non brand phone which makes the chances of having a jellybean ROM drop down to 4%
And... I doubt a third party app could even update the iPhone... without it being from Apple

The issue is the drivers, BLU is not a popular brand so the likelihood of a developer taking the time on the port is slim. Not to mention VERY time consuming on a device that has BROAD support. Typically devices like HTC, Samsung, Motorola (the ones that aren't Nand Locked) will receive ports fairly quickly, while obscure devices MAY never get them.
Now on with the specs. The BLU Studio 5.3 features a an ARMv6 CPU, clocked at 650MHz, a PowerVR SGX531 GPU, and 512MB of RAM. There is 200MB of built-in memory

You may lack hardware support in all honesty, ICS is optimized for dual core devices, though it does run on the HTC EVO 4G (keep in mind that while this is a single core processor it is also a 1 GHz single core, and pretty powerful for a single core device)...If I were in your shoes I would either,
A) Buy a new phone, one that has more community support, if you want Jelly Bean, or
B) Find a bad a$$ Gingerbread ROM for the phone you have.
If a lot of people would be very interested perhaps they can learn to port JB...there are tutorials for the basic port.
Buying a new phone has always been an option for me but ...
there's not many 5inch+ phones out there that has dual sim options
this 5.3" blu motion phone does everything easy to use, great size and large screen for GPS and not to mention cheap as chips
I don't really care about the other bells n whistles i like a phone with a big screen
if someone gave me the iPhone5 i'd put it on eBay in a heart beat ...
... heavens knows why you would want a small phone ...
if anyone knows where i can get a 5inch+ phone with two or more sim slots and with JELLY BEAN
do let me know

Hey, as of today I bought the Lenovo A880, I know this is an A850 forum but there doesn't seem to be any A880 forums. I looked at the specs and there are little differences between the two phone, same OS, processor etc. But different GPU (Mali-400), 8GB storage etc.
This is my first time buying a phone from China, or even outside of my home country (Ireland), but may I ask is there anything I need to do to the phone in order for it to work in the European market or even in Ireland?
I'd love some decent advice as I said, I'm a noob at this!
Thank you

Most shops sent the device ready for use (inside Europe). There are some people saying that they have signal problems (in USA for ex.) but generaly i think you will not have any problems
If the phone does not have a playstore, rooted and install it or flash it with a pre-rooted rom... most times all these are by default.

Yes, most times it is like getting the phone from your nead store.
ZTE are chinese phones but you can go out and buy one from a near store. On the other hand, Lenovo has not expand its phone devices in europe, so there may not be your language in the phone (but good devs have cooked the officials ROMs so these things are available).
An other issue is when the phone is "locked" and this means that is ment to be for only specific companies (ex Vodafone) but most phones are unlocked

Root means gaining administrator access over your phone. Normally, when you buy a phone you are a user not an administrator. When we talk about android, root access is having administrators rights, on iPhone it is called jailbreak (also on playstation 3 or PSP ). Why to gain access? Then you will have the full control of your phone, which for a normal android user it is not so usefull BUT since you have an XDA account your are not a normal user
The Google Play is the largest app store on androids (most devices have it as a default) but if you do not have it you need root access to install it. Then you can download apps easily from there
Flash means sth like formating/changing the operation system (ex. windows) of your phone. There are ROMs (phone firmwares) made by some developers that may be better than the one you may have. Example: you may be able to move apps to SDcard, the google play will be installed and the phone will be rooted. Most chinese stores install such ROMs before they sent the phone to you
The difference with the PCs is that each ROM is specified for each phone (drivers issues). So you can't just grap a ROM from a850 and put it in a880. The flashing process is also defferent from phone to phone (most times between companies). Ex: if you want to flash a sony phone you do not use the same program you use for a MTK device (like Lenovo's), and yes you flash your phone while you have it connected with your computer.
I wrote you some general info, you can google anything for more details. I hope you got the general idea

Gotchya, I definitely made sure that the phone was unlocked before I actually bought it, I just can't get over the price difference between Chinese phone companies and International phone companies, for the A880 I paid in the region of €100-€150 I've done a bit of research and what not on it and it's a tad more powerful than the Samsung Galaxy S3 which would cost someone €600-€700

Price differences are true. Lenovo a850 (my phone) costs 120€ from china and 240€ in Greece. This is because of the taxies, some stores order these phones (since lenovo has not open its phones in Europe) so there are more taxies.
On the other hand, there are some good choises made by Lenovo to hit the market with a lower cost. Your screen is not the same with S3, it may have twice the pixels your phone has, with a better screen quality. Is this so important? For me, no, but it is for sure more expencive.
The phone's camera most times is lower, and most people (people that do not know anything of computers) search for a new phone based on the camera and the logo on the phone, plus it is more expencive to have a better camera. Less RAM is an other feature of Lenovo phones, based to other devieces you can compare them...
From my stand point, you take what you pay. The trick is to take the phone from China, its half the price. Since i want to have a fast phone, i am ok with a lower camera, i do not care. About the screen, MY TV IS FULL HD, why the hell should my phone also be??? This is far too much...

I've always had an under-powered phone compared to family and friends, and being into computer I'd much rather have processing power, RAM and the likes. The screen on the A880 will be probably be the best screen I ever had as well as the camera. The most pixels I ever had is probably 2.5 haha

I told you, most sellers take care of such things.
1st post in this forum!
Are you buying?, if so, what are you replacing?. I haven't been visiting XDA in a while, I used to visit everyday, and tinker regularly. I'm replacing a Tmo Note 3, yes unlocked , rooted and ROM'd. I was just waiting for the right one I guess.
Camera and removable battery were important to me. I wish this had 4GB RAM, but I think it will be fine.
As far as unlockable bootloader's , I've never owned a Blu ( supposedly rebranded Gionee), but some research looks like they have fastboot, and have been unlocked in the past. I'm hoping this remains to be true.
I hope to see this place bustling, with the pricepoint of the device , there should be plenty of involvement.
Ciao!:highfive:
Thinking about it.... This versus Moto X pure versus OP2
This phone has seriously peaked my interest. My HTC One M8 has been on the fritz lately. The power button has become super sensitive and I find it turns itself on and off at times, thinking the button is pressed when it isn't :/
Im looking to get something soon and this phone looks like a steal for what we get.
I really dig this phone. I don't know about the lack of an app tray. is there much dev support for this phone? just wondering if I get it will I be stuck with basically an iphone layout lol
I currently have a Note 4 Att (locked bootloader) and am sick of no root. So if this phone gets rooted and has a good dev community bringing out ROMs, count me in.
Root shouldn't be an issue.

That new Helio X10 processor might actually get some good support. Plus its a Gionee under the skin so people have had it for about a month in China and India.

I searched assh*le and it brought up Moynia and I thought I would come on here and irritate you. Maybe I missed something, I thought this thread was talking about developer support. I assume you started somewhere and didn't just wake up knowing everything.
Im stuck between this and moto x pure... IDK WHAT 2 DO!!!
Lenn0x I've had the first 2 moto xs. While they are sweet phones I don't really see that much difference between 2014 and 2015. I like new and/or different features in my phones.
Definitely going to give this a look. I have a Huawei Mate2, but it appears Huawei wants to go all "samsung" on their pricing with
their new models. Soon as it is in the wild, and a few reviews come back, may have to give this one a spin.
If this is just a rebranded Gionee Elife E8, I wonder if we will be able to have a joint Dev community where we can use roms for both. If it's the same internal, theirs says Gionee and ours say Blu outside, then I don't see why it wouldn't work.
I was looking to replace my Oneplus One. Had an invite for the 2 but decided to pass since the specs aren't really that much better. The Pure XL releases on my birthday so thought I'd give it a try.
Warning
*EDIT*- I discovered just now that this forum is for a different phone than the one that I owned, and the photos and specs that are provided are for the wrong phone. So, this information is not applicable to the device that will be released in September of 2015. However, it is still valuable information as the actual Pure XL will be using the same Amigo UI that the Life Pure XL did, and could very possibly have the same crippling bugs that the last version did. Or not. I will keep this here as a cautionary tale for all.
*/EDIT*
I owned this phone between June of 2014 and April of 2015, and I had quite the experience with it. Yes, the specs look fantastic, just as good as a OnePlus One or a Galaxy Note 3. However, the software and lack of support from the manufacturer are what will kill your experience with this phone.
This device is the Gionee Elife E7 rebranded for sale in North America. I would suggest looking at the forum for that device in depth before deciding to commit to this phone. I have not checked on it in a while, but the phone will likely ship with Jellybean (4.2.2) and you will have to go through many hoops in order to possibly get a hacked, Taiwanese version of KitKat. If you are interested in Lollipop, I would forget this phone entirely. The stock ROM on this phone is a messy pile of Indian and Chinese Engrish that will leave you extremely frustrated. There are crippling bugs such as my very favorite: not being able to change the soft keyboard. Whatever you choose initially, it will be stuck that way unless you factory reset the phone. Seriously. You will similarly be able to change the default home screen, once and once only. The fancy camera sounds great, until you aren't able to actually take pictures because the Camera app FC's every time you open it. Try to use Google Camera app instead? Great idea, except that the full 16 MP resolution isn't supported by other apps. The installed music app doesn't let you sort by any parameter, you have to manually look through a huge list of all of your songs. Little things like this that you would expect thorough testing in development to have addressed have been ignored.
Also, there are only a couple of custom ROM's for the E7, one of which works fine and the other (Nori) will brick your device completely and utterly. There are several versions of this phone in the wild, one of which has true LTE support and for which Nori's ROM was made, and which the Pure XL is not. DO NOT FLASH THIS ROM. You will end up with a $300 piece of plastic. To be completely safe, do not flash any ROM that is not designed specifically for this phone. Since there are currently none, then this phone is a poor choice for those wanting to take that route.
The most you will be able to safely and reliably do with this phone is root it. Even then, you have to use King Root which is questionable at best. Don't have a Windows computer to run King Root on? That's as far as you can get. I would strongly recommend that anyone who has even the smallest desire to root, control and customize their phone (everyone reading this post) to stay as far away as you can from this phone and buy a used OnePlus One or a Note 3. The prices are almost comparable and you will end up with a phone that is truly useable and customizable.
Eyeing this phone as well, came here to see if people had luck rooting these phones with different ROMs.
If not, would probably just get a Nexus phone that is being announced soon, or even the original Nexus 6 (same price now).
And there's always the LG G3 or G4 (still using the Optimus G (G1) with the help of CM to keep it a valid phone)
Almost pulled the trigger on a Nexus 6, and then I remember about this BLU Pure XL. I was in contact with the company when they had it on Kickstarter. My main concern was the use of MTK processor. While I wasn't worrying about the performance of it (MTK high end chips are powerful!), I didn't like how they set up the internal storage partition. So I asked them and they assured me that there wouldn't be storage partition on this device, meaning about 50-55 gb would be user accessible (I deleted the email so I have no proof of their claim now). Too bad at that time I didn't need a new phone, otherwise I could have take advantage of their price of $249 (or $299, don't remember).
Anyway, I'd probably pick this over the Motorola Nexus 6, but am still considering the Oneplus One. Decision decision... too bad my LG G2 crapped out on me after that stupid Android Lollipop update. Totally messed up my phone. Otherwise I could probably still use it for another 2 years.

so my LG G2, after that Lousypop update, has gone from battery drain to WIFI drops, to the latest which was when I wasn't able to answer an incoming call. When that happened, the phone would just keep ringing and ringing, and I wasn't able to do anything with it. None of the button was responding. So I went online to see if someone came up with a fix. In the back of my mind, I knew there was a good chance everything would go back to normal once I reboot, but then since I wasn't even able to turn it off, I came across some Youtube video of a guy trying to remove the battery (which was a dumb idea to begin with... there is a reason that these batteries aren't to be messed with in the first place), and I thought maybe I could disconnect it to power off the phone. Well, I didn't get that far. LOL... I kind of broke the back panel a tad and trim, and I put everything together and just shoved the phone inside the closet to let it ring and drain out the battery. The next morning, charged the dead phone and turned it back on, everything seemed normal, except for all that cosmetic damage that I made, which I was more upset with myself since I have always kept it in tip top shape. And last week, it developed a new problem... sometimes I voice calls aren't clear, and speakers are skipping. Time for a new phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BLU Pure XL is looking better and better by the minute... until I realized it's actually even taller than the Motorola Nexus 6! LMAO! decision decision...
At this point, I'm one foot closer to getting this thing too. I have an Asus Zenfone 2 which I really like but I just had it replaced due to the cellular connection on the second SIM slot in my house and the problem still persists so it seems it is a device problem. Possible theory is because the second SIM slot only supports 2G data although why that would interfere with the ability for mere phone calls I don't know, but in any event, the second SIM slot will not work in my house and this is the second phone now, so it is going back. I am going to try one more replacement SIM card again just like last time, but I already did that once before and it didn't help. So the Blu Pure XL both slots I think are LTE so I shouldn't have the same issue if that 2G slot is the culprit issue. If it is, then clearly for some odd reason, my house, in a major suburban metro area, just must deflect those signals in some bizarre fashion because I can gets calls everywhere else, but today I tried numerous times already and it is non-functional and I already wrote in to ASUS. So I think I am going to have to return the Zenfone. I can't make calls on it today already from the second SIM-the line is unavailable and when it becomes available, it drops off right away. Obviously this is not workable and it's the ZF2 as a device that doesn't work in my house on SIM 2, but SIM 1 works just fine. Issue is, I have two lines.
I've been rocking the oneplus for about a year. Amazing phone. By far the best I've owned. My days of waiting for an upgrade are over. I plan to buy the pure xl. My only fear is that it won't be popular with the devs therefore no cool stuff to flash. I will wait a month or 2 to see what happens. At the very least I'd be OK with cm nightlies. My wife has had 2 blu phones in a row. Good quality and performance for the price.
RIP :good:
replace it with the V10

And he will die like this one, only slower . Cant believe this hardware and this phone gone dead in such a disgraceful way, its beyond my line of understanding . Phones which have 10x weaker hardware are still developed in so large scale , but this phone not . I refuse to understand that. If someone can show me how to build CM roms for this phone or even guide me in some way , i would do it without thinking. This phone is even more powerfull than fu***** G3 for God sake, htc m8 ( i got 42k on antutu with gp2 and m8 38k) ....just please some revive this development or show us how .
@milance92 I completely understand you. This phone is really like the forgotten one. I just can't understand that none of the developers is interested in this awesome piece of hardware. It's true that it's working great on stock firmware but I can't imagine what would be like to run some well optimised and polished custom ROM. Maybe with G3 or G4 apps and options for example. For now I'm satisifed that I even succeeded in rooting this phone on latest 5.0.1 (SAE) firmware and to be able to use some of my favourite apps with roots privilegies...
There are some custom ROM-s on lgviet.com but I don't even want to bother with something that looks half finished and that is not well optimised and bugfree...

I just bought this phone last night, for a backup and gaming device (I had the new G4 just for 1 month). The G4 is good but its battery is not. The G Pro 2 is still a powerful phone and its price now so good. I feel sorry for my G4, if I know there will be a V10 then I will not buy the G4 as the V10 has all the advantage of G4 about camera plus a otns of better things: 4GB ram, bigger screen, 2 screens, better design, last longer materials...

Yes, there is some custom ROM's on lgviet but like u said they are all (more or less) bugy and unstable, and by all means 60-80% uncompatible with xposed which i use a lot . Battery life on this device is insane, i had note 3 , which could not keep up whole day with heavy usage, when this phone shined as a sun in that matter, both devices where new. But now i am more determined than ever to compile my own ROM for this phone , and ordered today second PC on which i can do such a work under Ubuntu ofc, not Windows....when its done i will make a post here on XDA . I have D838 model of the device, so i will start developing for that model.

good bless you ! :good:
I feel your pain.
This morning I was excited to see that I had a new software update on my pro 2.
Some time later and I was disappointed that it was only 5.0.1 ? won't be holding my breath for marshmallow
I love this phone. I use it as my entertainment device. If you're ditching this phone, let me know! I would love to try and buy it from you.

I wouldn't say, that development was ever alive here.
When I bought this device, I had to order it from another country, as they had none in Denmark.
Maybe LG just produced too much G2, and they wanted to push that device. But my main point is, that it was not sold in many markets, kinda few people bought it, and that's why there are very few developers working on this device.
I'm on 3rd semester in computer sciencec. I learn Java. I would be happy to help you with CM
I owned the device before. I switched to another one because it lacked development. Hardly I can understand why this great piece of hardware failed to get the attention it deserved.
not yet!!
I am working on rom for lg g pro 2 so keep ur fingers crossed!!

Great What kind of ROM are you working on? CM 12.1? Looking forward to hearing more about it
Absolutely like "the forgotten one"! I bought the F350S from Ebay...I find it very powerful and aesthetically pleasing.....but forget about trying to update it's ROM. Very limited choices.

I'd even settle for Lollipop 5.1.1. Can't see Marshmallow happening.
Absolutely true..

I bought this phone for its hardware configurations and was expecting a better big support from developers. Even my earlier Samsung galaxy range devices got many custom roms. But this is really saddening to see lack of support for this device..
