Hello guys I recently tried many recovery.img on Funbook pro and bricked it! but finally found 1 working CWM of Micromax funbook p300 that works on our tab too..!!

Things Required -
1. Data Connection on your Tablet. (via WIFI)
2. An archieve supported file manager. Eg ES File Explorer.
3. A Usable and working mind.
Steps -
1. Download the file from the link below. ( PLEASE READ BELOW BEFORE FLASHING)
2. Extract the file to the root of your "internal sd card" and you will get 2 file First "Novotools_v1.0" and the Second "recovery.img".
3. Install the app Novotools_v1.0.
4. Run Novotools and you will see and option Flash Recovery
5. Click it and the recovey will be flashed onto your phone.
6. Reboot in recovery with the help of the application.
7. Now you have fully functional CWM recovery. ( PLEASE READ BELOW BEFORE FLASHING )
BUT WAIT ARE U STUCK ON MMX LOGO? MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE STOCK BACKUP GIVEN BELOW PLACE IT YOUR SD CARD BEFORE FLASHING CWM UNDER external sd card ie; ext sd clockworkmod\backup\
1) AFTER INSTALLING RECOVERY
2) DO A RESTORE OF THE GIVEN BACKUP

Gautam, You should provide the link and tutorial of Livesuit with Chinese firmware in case of brick. so testers can take risk of trying this..
and as i know you and joby both are successfully installed CWM from Chinese ROM aren't you?
so as a suggestion please include that tutorial in this post just in case..

I have rooted my P500 by 'unlock root' methoed. can I install this CWM following above procedure. I have read in some post here, following installation method of P300, may result in some brick for P500. thanks in advance.

Thanks. there are 2 models of funbook p300 and p500. most of the posts are for p300 since p500 is relatively new. As you said it is stock rom but after rooting and with the help of romtoolbox pro, I have removed most of the applications including educative lessions. therefore I wish to have a device as it was given at the showroom.. I hope you got my point.

Ohk...Currently we dont have full stock rom! but apps can be recovered! Just install CWM and restore backup provided by me!

i bricked my device then recovered it by using livesuit nd insallin de chinese firmware....nd then recovered the stock ROM....nw my wifi driver is not working....some one pls give me a stock FIRMWARE of Micromax funbook Pro....or some other compatible firmware.....
not working for me ! i downloaded the .zip file and extracted it in sd card(not externel i m talking about internet 8 gb) via pc aand i saw two files novotools.apk and recovery.img and i installed the apk and den clicked on flash recovery and after clicking on flash recovery below came flash recovery and nothing happened den i thought i must check and den clicked on reboot to recovery den also nothing happened ! so i switched off my tab and den went o recovery manually der it was android system recovery ! plzz help me !

Today i am going to tell you how to increase internal storage which is 1gb in Micromax xl2 a109.
I was re created ebr1 and ebr2 files to increase internal memory in Micromax a109 xl2.
use SP FLASH TOOL to download in your phone. mine working fine with 1.48GB for internal memory and 0.95gb for Phone memory.
And phone speed also increased.
Do IT YOUR OWN RISK.
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY THING.
all forums have this quotation that's way i am also writing this warning.
NOTE
This is for only micromax canvas xl2 a109.
This device works on MT6589
Here is the link for download you need
EBR1 EBR2 for 1.5GB RAM by Raj Varakavi.rar - 725 bytes
and use SP Flash tool to download in your phone.
Select Scatter file and then select only Ebr1 and Ebr2 checkbox.
After click download in sp flash tools then connect your phone to usb.
After successful swith on your device
it will show you phone memory corrupted no need to panic just format it.
Then check in settings -> Storage
phone will show you 1.48gb internal memory and 0.95gb phone memory.

I searched every forum but there is no helps for Micromax a109. So i learned about ebr file and then created. Finally succeded.

Hi vishesh,
Some mtk devices ebr2 contains only 1 active line. And recently released devices contains 3 active lines. Mine has 3 lines.
Only one value mistake can soft brick the device. Then we have to use cw recovery backup
to funtion it properly again.
Search on how to change ebr1 and ebr2 files if you use defferent device,
Which device your using?

No this will not work other mtk devices.
This is tested only in micromax canvas xk2 a109.
This is mt6589 model.

I just watched your phone specs. You have 8gb rom and 1gb ram.
Ok now you can increase upto 2gb or 3gb ram.
I think you know all about what is mtk droid tools, Sp Flash tools and how to get your phone rom using mtk droid tools and sp flash tool.

If you just want to clear some internal storage (typically since without space, you won't be able to update/use whatsapp), then you can go to settings>apps>chrome>clear data. This will clear data that the chrome app accumulates. I found 146mb data here, and my problem was solved on clearing it. Similarly you can try clearing data of other apps that you don't use. Be careful of which app's data you delete, since if you do this to an app you use, the data might be lost.

I tried the steps explained in the post. Now I bricked my phone and it is not getting started. I have tried all the possible way explained in different forums but no luck. I have downloaded the stock rom and tried to flash using YGP tool. But my device is not getting detected by windows properly. It will get connected for a 2 seconds and will get disconnected. While getting connected I can see the mediatek device in the port (device manager) and it goes off on disconnection. I there any other way to flash the rom than YGP tool. Is it possible to get SP flash tool rom for A109.. Please help

Hi Raj,
Please help me by providing the complete ROM. The available stock ROM is flashed through YGRP tool which my device is not getting recognized. SP Flash tool is recognizing my device hence I can unbrick by device.
Gone are the Days when you had only 1Gb of internal Storage and had to compromise on less number of apps so that you can live with the 1Gb Storage. 2.73Gb storage sounds bigger but you can not move apps to SD Card, Hence you find your limited once again. I Present to you the 2.49Gb Storage MOD so that you have bigger Storage and you can move apps to SD card as Well. already presented the MOD for the same purpose that required SP Flash tool to get Storage increased to 2.49Gb. since that method required PC and SP Flash tools skills i had requests coming in for making a Flash-able zip for the same.
Since I am not good at writting the updater scripts so i requested my friend Muhammad Hamza to help me out and he was kind enough to help and made it working for me. then the time came to test it out in different scenarios and i my self tried a lot of possible scenarios
to test it.. it just requires a little bit of knowledge from you and you get the device boosted with internal storage.
Here is all what you need to do.
A rooted phone. with custom recovery (i used twrp recovery in all tests)
[*]Download InternalStorage2_49gb.zip from the attachments
[*]Put it in the root of your SD Card.
[*]Reboot to recovery.
[*]Take backup of your current ROM.
[*]Tap back to home and Flash InternalStorage2_49gb.zip
[*]After the flash is complete reboot to recovery.
[*]Go to wipe and do a Factory Reset.
[*]Again Reboot to recovery.
[*]Tap Restore and then Restore Data partition from backup.
[*]After the restore process is complete reboot system.
It will boot and you will have 2.49Gb internal storage for Apps PERMANENTLY. you can change as many ROMS as you like via ZIP. restoring stock ROM Through SP FlashTools shall take you back to 1Gb only.
In the end i would like to thank MZ_. (Muhammad Hamza) for helping me out. Mohammad Ali who encouraged me to get the MOD in ZIP format.
And i would request you to just hit Thanks if you find my method usefull for you.
Any problems you may ask your question i shall try to answer each and everyone.
FOOT Note: I shall not b responsible for any loss of data if you dont take backup before following this method.
This zip might work on other MTK devices as well. but i can not guarantee on any other phones still need to test it out on other phones, if you test and find it working do let me know about that so i can update accordingly. :angel:

I want to root my Micromax Unite 2 A106 8GB model, and remove bloatwares, increase space and finally unroot it. The problem is that I want to update it to lollipop. But I read the app memory shrinks to only 100mb after update.
So I thought - if I do this way -
1. Root with Kingroot (tell me how safe it is).
2. Install custom recovery (I have Linux pc. Tell me How I install custom recovery on my phone).
3. Increase internal app memory by either hkpartitioneditor or Ebr files. (Hkpartitioneditor is an app. What is an EBr file? how safe it is? How do we know it doesn't steal datas?).
4. Unroot and update.
But then I got to know, the increased app memory won't work with lollipop.
So I need some proper guidance here along with the doubts I mentioned above.

I bought this china phone called vkworld vk700pro . rooted it and used the official firmware to build recovery cwm and modified the EBR1, EBR2 files to extend the app partition size from 1 gb to 3gb .
Make sure the mtk drivers installed before u do this .
1- Download the Official firmware from here.

unrar it ,
2- download below link , its all what u need to root it and flash the cwm, ebr files .

unrar it .
3-backup the ebr1,ebr2,recovery.img,checksum.ini files from the original firmware in case something goes wrong.
4-copy ebr1,ebr2,recovery.img u downloaded from the second link and paste them in the official rom folder .
5-rename the ini file checksum.ini to something els like cheksum_old.ini .. this file is in the rom folder .
6-open SP_flash tool and locat your scatter file which is in the rom folder and hit download .
7-when its finished root ur device using kingo root software .

Thanks so much for doing and sharing this! This is just what I needed for my daughter's phone since she was having trouble installing apps with the 1GB limit.
Have you tried to install another ROM on this device? If you know how, please share and make another video. The youtube video was very helpful in getting the 3GB partition to work on my daughter's phone.

Glad it helped u , i did not try another rom , i think the stock rom is pretty fine . no blotware apps or junk adware .. the only think i hate about this phone is the signal its very week it won't go to one bar when 3g is enabled . i was going to hack the gsm antenna but am not much into hardware soldering ..

I can confirm that this works. Only problem I had was installing the MTK drivers before starting, because I'm running Windows 10 and I think the OP is running Windows 7. Just search online, download and install the drivers first and then follow the excellent video created by OP.

I tried installing Win10 drivers with no avail.
I have the vk700 not the vk700 pro cannot find any hardware differences so my question is if anyone knows if the procedure will work with vk700 too.

Worked very well, just lets get clear some steps:
1. Download
2. Unzip
3. Run the tool, find the file.
4. Plug the phone, turn off the phone.
5. If u get an error after the installation, just try again with the battery phone off. Is not breaked yet.

How can we do to make the 1GB ROM of this phone to be 3GB? I don't quite follow you. And if you want to get an affordable smartphone with larger RAM, we can get the Bluboo Maya with 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM.

Me neither dont speak italian and yet easy to follow. I mean...if ever crossed path with flash tools - hard to forget since it turns to same
me,however, have the problem after flashing related to camera. no switch icon anywhere neither any app recognizes there is a front one,just rear.
tried cleaning data,cache, general system reset and nothing helped. is there a way to manualy ad another cam with different id and force android to accept it?
