International Unlocked or Carrier Branded? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which version of S6/Edge are you buying?
Which version is usually better for unlocking/rooting? Which versions are better for updates?
i know stay away from the AT&T/Verizon models. I'm currently on T-Mobile. Will the international version have all the bands for T-Mo LTE?

I'm on att but I'll probably buy the tmobile version. Bootloader unlocked, no carrier logos and little bloat.

Do you know how warranty works if we buy the T-Mobile version (to use on AT&T)?
Thanks.

No I'm not sure. I assume you could go through Samsung.

How updates work if using unlocked int'l? Do you get them when AT&T and TMo push them out, or when the Int'l is being pushed out? Reason I'm asking is cause I may go unlocked to be free from carrier bloatware.

[Q] Quick Question...

I found a GS3 on craigslist for $175 and was thinking about snatching it. The phone was originally AT&T but it is factory unlocked. Will this work just fine on Verizon and will I still be able to get the same 4G LTE?
No, the hardware isn't there for that as far as data goes.

So basically no other carriers GS3 would be suitable for Verizon other than a Verizon GS3? Or is there another carriers GS3 that is suitable for Verizon's 4G LTE?

The phone should work if it is unlocked, however, data will be slow. Also, not sure how the new law affects it.....

AT&T runs on the gsm network. Verizon runs a CDMA network. Gotta have radios that can talk to the network....

The new law doesn't affect any phones that are factory unlocked.

Thinking about buying one, not on Verizon network. Is this phone unlockable?

Basically I'm thinking of buying this phone and using it with a prepaid plan. Is there a way to unlock it to use on a different carrier?

I doubt there will be decent responses until the VZW version is released...
You can use the sprint version with page plus.

Are all Roms for this phone going to be universal?

I was wondering if the us and international Roms and kernels are all going to be able to be flashed? I am currently on Sprint and I remember with the galaxy nexus we had to have our own section.

Apart of the radio chip (LTE bands support) all Nexus 5 are the same afaik, so i guess all roms are universaly useable on all devices
Yeah I know that but you active a different radio with Sprint.

There are 2 versions of the Nexus 5. The one used in North America (D820) and the one used in the rest of the world (D821). Whether or not ROMs for one will be usable on the other I don't know, but it doesn't matter if you're using AT&T, Sprint, or T-Mobile in NA because it's all the same phone.

That's because the Sprint version of the GNex was different than the GSM version sold on the Play Store for T-Mobile and AT&T.

This guy is correct. Unlike the GNex, the N5s being sold for AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint are all the exact same device.
Thanks everybody as that was a big concern are we going to have 2 different forums then?

Unlocked Int'l phone question?

Those who had unlocked Galaxy phone, when do you receive your software updates? Do you get them when AT&T and TMo push them out, or when the Int'l is being pushed out? Reason I'm asking is cause I may go unlocked to be free from carrier bloatware.

Normally carriers custom their roms, meaning vanilla Int'l updates are earlier.
So Int'l S6 with an AT&T Sim...I'll get the update when Int'l is being pushed out?

Indeed. SIM doesn't matter, really. It's about the custom carrier rom.
Which is the best site to order an unlocked S6?

Anyone use N920i (international) version on T-mobile?

How is it? Will Samsung Pay works?

I'm also curious
You'll lose wifi calling with T mobiles sketchy service I'd avoid any unlocked phone. If I had ATT odd go that root
Anybody? I really want to know this as well!
