Does this help with anything for development? I figured it might help with kernel development but wasn't sure of anything else.

Hello everyone, I'm new here so if this is in the wrong place forgive me. I am interested in getting a samsung galaxy s2( im with tmobile if that is important) and updating to the latest version of android. Is that something that is possible for someone who is not knowledgeable in hacking a phone to any degree? If needed, I suppose I can find someone who knows what they are about and pay for the OS update. I just want to know if it would be worth it to buy the galaxy s2 and even try to update the software. In short, I don't need the latest and greatest in terms of hardware, but I did want the latest android version. Thanks in advance.

Hi
Samsung galaxy s2 is worth the buy but unfortunately its stuck with the 4.1.2 jellybean update officially
However you can always get the latest android version using custom roms
I am runing the latest android 4.3.1 version using the cyanogenmod 10.2 custom rom without any problems(t mobile variant also has the latest cyanogenmod 10.2)
And the advantage of the custom roms are they are way better than stock roms that come with the phone and have unlimited tweaking options
You can always do it yourself cause it is so easy and you can find many tutorials here in the xda forums and you can also find someone who deals with the custom roms and get you with the latest update
Good day
will we ever see lollipop 5.0 on our verizon galaxy s iii's? or am i just dreaming here? i see it on galaxy s 3s in the world, just not ours, so i figured id ask if it would ever at least be possible... thanks for any response in advance!

Official Lollipop? Nope. Lollipop through custom AOSP roms? Yes. Mastamoon has been releasing Lollipop betas for CM in his unofficial CM thread I'm the dev section. There is also a LiquidSmooth Lollipop thread in the original dev section.

Hey guys Im new to the developing thing and I need a help because I'm really confused at the moment. So basically, I have Samsung Galaxy S II LTE, SGH-I727 Rogers version, and it has android version of 4.0.4. It's rooted with a cyanogenmod9. And now I want to upgrade it to cyanogenmod 10 or even 11, but i guess first i have to get the android version 4.1.2 . So I'm curious if i do a software update, and upgrade it to android version 4.1.2 will I loose my root?? and will I be still able to root it to Cyanogenmod 10 or 11?? Or i don't know, maybe you might suggest me something useless in order to update my old phone.
Thanks,
Looking forward to get useful information.

I have a stock unrooted Motorola nexus6 that is currently running lollipop 5.1.1 build LZY28N. I am using the AT&T straight talk sim card. I cannot get it to update to marshmallow. ive been considering unlocking the bootloader and flashing it myself, but I don't know wich build to download. from what ive gathered the LZY28N build is tmobile build. I also seen somewhere that I need to download build MRA58K. I have downloaded this build but have not proceeded because I'm not sure if it is the correct build. I want to get an official build as to not screw up my new device. I recently had a one plus one running cyanogen 12.1 and it was crashing a lot and I'm trying to prevent this from happening to this phone. anyone out there have any info for me? I know how to unlock bootloader, root, install twrp, and flash. I just need some direction as to what build to flash and have everything go as smooth as possible

Good luck!
As the title
I'd say with the processor and if Asus release the source code for the Device, then yes.
Sent from my ASUS_Z008 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Probably, since it's powered by SnapDragon Processor so there is a high possibility that we may have CM support.
Looks like this phone is definitely developer friendly. Source code is already available at https://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone-3-Ultra-ZU680KL/HelpDesk_Download/
The bootloader is locked according to Asus support.
will this attract a lot of developers though.
Considering the phone has been out for over a month now and these forums are still practically empty, I suspect not. I hope I am wrong though.

Since this phone is developer friendly, have you seen twrp recovery or any custom roms like Miui, Aosp, CM developed for this phone anywhere?
I am hoping XDA will have something on this device soon. I have always been happy with this sites work for rooting phones and custom roms. I have rooted and installed custom roms on my previous phones, HTC One M8, Samsung Galaxy Tab2, and Samsung Galaxy I9100. All of which came from XDA site.
Looking forward to XDA's root and custom rom development for this phone. In the meantime, if you or anyone knows if their is any custom rom development anywhere for this phone, I would appreciate the information. I really don't want to root until I can install a custom rom with twrp recovery .img.
Thanks for the source code information.
I suspect with this phone not being sold in US or Europe, then all the hacker activity will be on Asian forums
