[Completed] Root SG4 ATT (ktu84p.i337ucufnj4) + Install CMod - XDA Assist

I read the guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301762), and it says "you may have MF3, which causes problems" , but does not tell you how to check.
I googled my problem and it told me the build number (ktu84p.i337ucufnj4) has that information.
As per the title, I'm just looking to root an ATT Galaxy S4 and install CyanogenMod as simply as possible. I've rooted a copy of the same phone before, so I don't need step by step instructions, just the proper root method and any conflictions with my phone.
Thank you for any assistance!

I promise I've been researching this for days!
I understand now my firmware is NJ4, and found this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...to-root-i337ucufnj4-4-4-4-11-13-2014-t2939553
I'm confused on how to install Cyanogenmod now however. The only supported device/guide that matches mine I can find is here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_jflteatt
The disclaimers says it will only work on I337UCUAMDB or I337UCUAMDL though. It also says I should use CWM recovery, but another root guide for my device says we can only use safestrap...I'm seriously trying to understand here, can someone give me a hand?

Hi,
The reason you cannot find anything is because it is currently impossible to install CM on NJ4. NJ4 has a locked bootloader and prevents all but stock based ROMs via Safestrap for installation.

[Q] Rooting Samsung Ace S5830D

Greets
Have tried two methods to root this phone, superoneclick and up_d.zip from the tutorial and both fail.
The specs on the phone are as follows: Model No-S5830D with Gingerbread build number DTLKI4. What is interesting is the Kies tells me that this models firmeware cannot be upgraded with Kies. Phone is distributed in Canada by Koodo not sure if that makes a difference but the build no is different from anything Ive seen on line.
Suggestions, recommendations, reading sources most welcomed.
Best and kind regards

You could try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282011.
Same error message as with all the other methods I tried so far:
____________________________
"Error in /tmp/sideload/packages.zip

Installation Aborted.
---------------------------
What ended up working was this link and file, AceGingerbreadroot.zip from android flip dot com
Best regards

You could paste the link please?
can you please add the file to root the ace S5820D
Rooting the S5830D from Koodo
I've rooted this phone yesterday.
1. Using stock recovery install root zipped file AceGingerRoot.zip (see below)
2. Use BML5 method to find unlock code and use it for unlocking on this stock rom, or use market
Unlock Galaxy Ace app, which is doing the same
3. Install CWM version 4 zipped file ClockWorkModAce.zip (see below)
4. Update to CWM version 5 recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix.zip (see below)
Now you can install the ROM of your choice on your fully unlocked and rooted Ace.
Don't forget to nandroid all original and other ROMs so you can painlessly use the working configuration
Thank you so much for coming back with your solution pgavril. I had the exact same problem with the same phone from Koodoo and you solution worked flawlessly.
Again to help other people search for this problem find this thread, it was.
Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830D
Koodoo Mobile
Error in /tmp/sideload/packages.zip
Status 7
failing to install CWM recovery
Thanks again for your help pgavril.

Newbie wants to root the Galaxy S4 i337m, build number kot49h.i337mvlufni2

Hi all
First of all i need to say that i m all new to android and samsung phones, so i may ask questions that can seem stupid, be patient with me please, i m new but i learn fast
I just bought a brand new canadian i337m from koodo mobile, and it comes with the android version 4.4.2, baseband i337mvlufni2, build number kot49h.i337mvlufni2. I want to root my phone and open an all new world to me, but from what i read from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2293800, there are some problems with WIFI and Bluetooth after rooting, i guess something went wrong during the rooting process, or the files used weren't the correct ones. That's why i want to make sure that i will use the right files to flash with Odin, i don't want to brick my brand new phone. My problem is that i can't find the right files of CF-Auto-Root to flash with, since in his website for autoroot, chainfire has files for i337m based on build number KOT49H.I337MVLUFNC1, but my phone has newer build number kot49h.i337mvlufni2. Did Chanfire forget to update his website ? or the build number doesnt make any difference ? am i missing something ? Please can someone help me or guide me so i can root the phone safely ?
Thanks in advance
following...
Did you find an answer?
Im having the same issue..... tried the root method by chainfire for my phone model in another thread but Odin gives me "Fail"
and im thinking its because i have an updated build.
Thanks,

[HELP] Root / Custom Bootloaders?

Ok so I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 SCH-I353 running Android 4.4.2
Kernel version: 3.4.0
~~~~~~~~~
After searching around for past few days an reading around n such I've not really been able to find just a straight answer for this so I figured ok might as well go ahead and make a thread.
As far as I've got I believe I AM able to root the device which is cool BUT can I also get a custom recovery or boot-loader n such too so I can use different ROM's n such or am I **** out of luck? I don't wanna brick my phone obviously so if anyone could just give me a no or a yes and if a yes please point me to a link that will explain how to root / use custom boot loader n such.
Thanks in advanced for anyone who takes the time to reply.
Currently, there are no known method to unlock the bootloader on a Verizon S3 with firmware 4.3 and above. Attempting it will brick your phone.
You can root it but as stated in the previous post unlocking the bootloader is impossible on 4.4.2 and is not even an option and DO NOT attempt to try to unlock it. There is one method available which is a jtag service but finding one to do it is what's almost impossible
Firmware Droid Mini without verizon Bloatware? Lollipop possible after Root?
Ok the root I have managed now! The next question is what is the correct sequence for the installation of a clean Firmware without Verizon Bloat? I have download this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-ultra/general/rom-droid-mini-maxx-ultra-lte-fw-6-7-3-t3262555
Firmware but i dont know the install procedure., please Insiders help me with this!
I have to ask because I'm not a Android insider and with many abbreviations used in posts here'm not familiar
Or I may as well install Lollipop after I have the root successfully performed ??
I am completely new in this topic therefore ask this, everyone has to start sometime and is new and inexperienced in a theme.
Unless you have an unlocked bootloader I don't see how you will install Lollipop as I still haven't seen an official update to it. If you do have an unlocked bootloader your root would be super simple though.
In the link you provided, the installation instructions are there (but you have to click to show content).
Can you not find the instructions or which step in the instructions are you stuck at?
Plus, you would be in the "for Loked device" section.
We really need to know where exactly you are stuck. A few of us have done this already and are more than willing to help
[AT&T Galaxy Tab E] Is there any way to root my device?
I have an AT&T Galaxy Tab E (SM-T377A) and I need to root it, but I haven't been able to find any guides or .tar files to flash. I have found guides for the sprint version (SM-T377P), but I'm afraid that will screw something up if I try it.
Is it even possible?
Thanks for the help.
Not that I'm any help...
But I've got the same device and up against the same issue. I read on TECH Advisors web page and it suggested stumproot.org to root it. But I installed it and followed all the instructions but says my device isn't supported. So I believe our devices are too new....hope you find a way though and if so please let me know.
I'd like to know if there 's a way to root it, I recall seening a thread where you would have to downgrade to LP just to get it rooted, but that comes with risk and I like the marshmallow rom much better, so I hope that there's a way soon
