Dear XDA users!
Lots of Russian Android users are very disappointed with the fact that Android OS takes a lot of traffic (that causes extra fees and personal data insecurity). Many people decided not to buy Android-based devices because of that. So, we decided to post an issue to Google, Inc. and OHA and asked about the abitily to let or not let the apps use Internet - such points as "Allow", "Allow once", "Deny" or something like that. The issue URL is http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=10481
If you also want this feature to be developed, just star the issue (click the star near the header). If you want to say something, you may post a comment (try not to post comments like "Agree", "+1", etc.). Be ready to receive other people's comments to your e-mail. To stop receiving, go to https://code.google.com/hosting/settings and uncheck "If I starred the issue".
Note that you must sign in to your Google account to vote!
Thanks for your voices!

Well, sometimes Google is not worth trusting, too.

this matter is very important
people must know everything about data sent
Hi all:
I am a developer for an app that forwards SMS (and other things) to an email address. Obviously it would be elegant to be able to reply to your SMS right from your email account, while the other side still sees your SMS in the normal way, and the app does exactly this.
But to get the reply back to the phone via email, we need the user to enter the email-to-SMS address as part of setup. You know, like [email protected] or @vtext.com. The app has a database for some countries and carriers but obviously its a drop in the bucket.
We are finding out that maybe not a lot of people know of such a feature on their phones, hence this poll! It'll help us try some other ideas, or implement this one differently.
Thanks!
PVS
PhoneLeash - free on Android Market
Rogers (in Canada) has this service.. but they charge us for it. So not many people actually have it.
Thanks to everyone who responded. As a result of the poll results, PhoneLeash now supports forwarding SMS (and missed calls, and location, and battery status) to another phone number via SMS. And replying back to these forwarded SMS' does not require an email-to-SMS feature. If you forward to a Google Voice number (or other PC-based SMS-capable services such as HeyWire, Pinger), you can use a PC, and enjoy a very nice feature set (see this review).
Thanks for the useful development for mobile users and internet users as well.
However, I'm already using this service with the help of third party i.e. TextMarketer.co.uk
Play (Poland) already has such a service. It is free for everyone. Polish speakers can check it here: http://www.blogplay.pl/2010/11/kopia-sms-na-email-beta/
Hi Folks,
Some carriers send a USSD balance update message after each call, and sometimes after each data session on prepaid plans. This is very annoying, and SMS blockers won't stop these USSD messages.
I wrote an app to block USSD messages by keywords or regex. Works well for me in blocking my carrier's balance update messages.
My first android app, so please let me know if I can do something better.
Credits to commandus.com/blog/?p=58 for showing how to intercept these messages using the undocumented hook.
App is "com.melkote.quietbalance" on Google App Store. The v1.0 of the app is also attached to this post.

isn't working
Using galaxy s2 (AOKP 1CS ) If that matters.
I selected keyword and its not blocking ....
Edit: working, my bad didn't restart.thanks it's what i was looking for
Works perfectly (Galaxy S2 with CM9)
I've been looking for something like this for a long time but I just wasn't sure how to do it. I was told that these messages are not exactly USSD because USSD requires a code to be sent.
Also, thanks for the link to the blog with the sample code. I was looking for a way to make a widget that updates automatically using the intercepted message.
a big thanks
Thanks a lot, just what i need,i have requested for this in numerous forums, the only reply i got was it's operator based, contact your operator btwn you should reboot after seeting the matching words,
In my case the matching words are, last, call,
U can set this according to your ussd, n once you set you are ready to go,if some one wishes to be know their balance their can try prepay widget , n since it's not free i would like this feature to be incorporated in this app,
s2 running ics remix,
Hi Folks,
Thanks for all the feedback, here and elsewhere.
I've updated the app to ver 1.1 - this version adds a screen to show the last 25 messages and action taken (block or allow) and fixes a bug with blocking frequency.
You must reboot your phone if you update from 1.0 to 1.1 (or install either version).
As I'm a new XDA user, I can't edit the original post (due to presence of URL). So I've attached the APK to this post. If any moderators can move the APK file to the first post, it'll be great!
Thanks!

how to block idea data usage msg. ths app not banning class 0 message i.e. data usage
I'm on airtel n it's working for my data messages, so it should work on idea also
Just place the words that appear in your data balance ussd, like mb,last, charge, etcn you should be fine, you should reboot to get it started
from raj's s2
do an tutorial please
I'm on Airtel in India, and worked a charm - thank you very much!
I managed to use it on several messages that come through with different wording using the Keyword List.
Thanks again!
Now, what would be *really* useful is a widget that takes the info from the messages and displays the latest balance info - although there are other aps that do that

But the beeping still continues. Is there any way to turn that off too or have i missed something in the settings?
Not able to block the message bal pop ups
Hi I installed this app but itz not able to block the msgs.
When I tried to send the bulk sms from my sms application, I still recieve the balance messages from service provider.
How to block the messages? What to write the message matching string for that?
Multiple options to match strings would've been nice.

Bydefault for the past few days my balance messages stopped. is there any way to activate it.
Works perfectly with Airtel. Just use keyword blocking list and add words like balance, validity, usage to it to block all messages. Thanks!
Hi, I just installed it today and was just amazed by it. Currently I am using Keyword blocking to block messages.
I would like someone to explain blocking messages using sub string and / or regular expression with example.
Thanks in advance.

+1 Does it work on Jelly Bean too ?
It blocks the Message but Bip and Vibration is still there
Dear Developer,
Many congratulations for making such a wonderful app.
I found two problems with it.
1. It blocks the message but vibration and bip sound comes after every net session
(this has been solved by reinstalling) <s>2. When I send any code from my mobile to check balance e.g. *111#, it stop them too. I mean it keep showing "sending" on screen so message is not going out. </s>
I will appreciate if you look and check for above problems
Thanks

Source Code?!
Great work.
If it's not too much bother, is the source code available? I'm trying to implement a USSD interceptor and I was wandering if I can use your code as a starting point.
If it's not open-sourced but you are OK with sharing it please send it to me @

If it's not feasible, sorry for bothering you.
Hi mSobhy90,
I'll clean it up and put it on GitHub in a few days, I love open source!
In the interim, everything you need is here:
commandus.com/blog/?p=58
(You can translate it quite well with Google Translate)
I want to link to that post so the original finder of the hook point gets credit.

I'm extremely annoyed by his lack of respect for my privacy so i want to find out the account he uses to stalk me. does anyone know of a way i can see who views my instagram account or simply just block him?

Instagram only stores viewing info for the discover algorithm (on the search tab), they don't allow you to access yours or anyone's viewed information, as in you don't receive any of that data. If you want privacy, why not private your account? And block him as well.

I dont want to make it private because I want others to see my profile just not him. And even if i block him he has another account which im not aware of. but thanks anyway
To be frank, there is no way to find out. Since the company doesn't share any information with third-party apps. The apps available on the internet are fake.
You can read a detailed blog post on this here (https://geekermag.com/who-stalks-my-instagram-profile/)
There is now lol
Hey guys I created an account just to ask WTH? I have been online with both Verizon and PIXEL support for the last three hours trying to crack this one.
Scenario:
Sending the url for my small website (or any sub page link) will show as sent on my PIXEL but never make it to the recipient. All other text messages received or sent work normally. i.e. group SMS, plain text, media, other major URLs. (facebook, google etc.)
Attempted troubleshooting:
Removed and reinstalled the default Messages app, attempted using Verizon's Message+ app, cleared app data on phone and re-updated the apps.
Specs:
model PIXEL 2016 / iPhone 6
carrier Verizon
both OS are most recent versions.
Update:
I have now also been able to duplicate this problem on my wife's iPhone 6. Thanks in advance for any insights.
I would totally guess it's just some kind of SPAM prevention. Did you try writing any other text in the same text besides just the URL? I would email it, instead.

I agree based on my tests. I'm starting to get more angry that I can send a big site like facebook to everyone I know but not my little site that they asked me to share. I'm currently awaiting a response from Verizon's networking team.
