Active Sync not present in Default Email App in Cm12? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I switched to CM12 from 11s and now I have a problem. I do not see active sync with default email app in cm12... It is there with gmail.. But i love default email app... Any workout in this? Now I use cloudmagic but love to use default app

Why not use the Inbox email app? It's fantastic.

just download gmail and disable the default email app , or try to enable sync in your account setting

Push E-Mail

Hello,
This is my first Android phone after using the iPhone. I added all my Gmail accounts to the email app from Samsung, and I'm still not getting push email. It's set at IMAP and everything. Do I need to set it up as an exchange account?
Thanks.
you need to use the gmail app for gmail to push as far as i know If you only use Gmail, you can remove the email app from that bottom dock by going to the applications screen and hitting menu there is a setting to arrange via grid and then rearrange apps and you can drag the gmail app down there and remove the email app

Thanks for the quick reply. That slightly is disappointing since the Samsung email app has an universal inbox where as the Gmail email app doesn't. Is there an app that would help with this issue if I were to root the phone?
I apologize in advanced if I sound stupid or don't make any sense. I'm still checking up with all the Android lingo
How would I go about adding a non gmail and a non exchange account? Would the Gmail app support that? Or would I have to use the Samsung email app for that?
Thanks.

The Gmail app only supports gmail accounts I believe. You either have to use the Samsung email app or forward your emails from your other accounts to gmail.
Another suggestion is to use K-9 Mail. I have my Gmail, AOL, and Hotmail accounts added to the K-9 Mail and Gmail and AOL both give me push emails and I have Hotmail set up for polling every hour.
K-9 seems to be the best alternative because I didn't want to forward all my emails to Gmail and the Samsung email app wasn't pushing my emails like I wanted.
If the samsung email app supports exchange active sync, you can use it to get gmail and it'll push. Gmail now fully supports active sync. I had my iphone set up that way and I got push emails from Gmail no problem.
The Google Gmail website shows you how to set up Gmail as if it were an exchange active sync account. Its really simple and worked great for me for over a year. I have the Captivate now and only use the Gmail app, but I only have one Gmail account, not multiple ones like the OP.

That's exactly what I'm looking. That works out perfect. Thanks again! And if I ever want to sync my contacts and calendar with Gmail, I can always turn off sync for mail but keep sync active for contacts and calendar.
Thanks again.

[Q] Default email app-accounts

Hi all, I have my new TF and I'm just adding accounts to the email app that uses the on screen widget. What's got me puzzled is that when I add my MSN account, I have 'push' as an option, but when I add my gmail it will not show a push option.
I realise that the default gmail app has push, but I was hoping to use the other app because of the on screen widget notification.

I have the same thing set-up. My work email account is an exchange account and it has the push option but my gmail doesn't. Not really sure why. I just have it set-up to check every 5 mins.

[Q] How can I delete the Gmail Client on Transformer

Hi
I just got my transformer and realize that there are 2 email client in it. The Gmail and the default. I just wondering if it is possible for me to delete the Gmail client. I want to keep the system email client since it got a widget. I don't want the other Gmail Client to be working, but somehow I cant delete it and whenever I link my transformer to my gmail, that Gmail client will be linked too. Thank you all for helping.
You need to be rooted, then you can delete, or better move to another directory, the Gmail.apk that is in /system/app/.
Just turn off notifications and sync for the Gmail app. Don't have to delete it just don't use it
Why bother deleting it when you can just deselect mail and contact sync when you connect your google account?

Hi! you can deactivate the sync in the settings->accounts and sync.
the gmail client also has a widget. it also supports push email with gmail accounts. if your email is gmail, then it's definitely the better client.
if you have have other email services, i'd recommend you setup your gmail accounts to fetch them, and it would also work nicely with the gmail client.

This, if anything go the other direction and remove the other email client. Gmail is push, meaning it doesnt require a sync interval and doesnt have to constantly check. When email is ready it just shows up, far more efficient.

[Q] Really dumb email question

Hello,
I have three email apps on my phone, email (Live), Gmail and Outlook. When I first set up my phone I set my Live account as the default account. Now I want to change it to one of the other accounts but when I open the gmail app settings or the outlook app settings there is no option to set either as the default. The only app that has the set as default option is the email app that I use for my Live account email. If I try to uncheck the set as default box it doesn't let me.
This seems like such a lame question, but does anyone know how to unset my Live email as my default and change it to my gmail or Outlook email?
Thanks

That setting is specific to that app. Since you have only one account in that app, you can't deselect that option. What you probably want is to reset the default email app on the phone. Got to Manage Apps and find the email app and Clear Defaults. Next time you tap on an email link, it will ask what app you want to use (with the option to set as default).

Thanks for the reply. I tried what you said and clear defaults is grayed out. It's not clickable. I cleared data and it reset the app. Now when I try and reset up the email account I get an error message. "80104: system is unavailable to support the request"
I discovered that the outlook.com app will also do my Live email account. So I am using that instead of the installed email app.

Good alternate for Xperia's email app?

Hello Everyone,
I moved from Xperia to Pixel and i really miss the Xperia's email app. I used to set it up to access email's from work (Exchange server) and i could see the calendar on Google's calendar as well. I know i can do this if i set up Gmail to access work email but Gmail has issues syncing Sub-Folder and the Outlook app is well plain ugly and does not sync with Google calendar.
Do you guys know of any email app that works like Xperia's email app?
Regards
Sanjay
For syncing with my Echange server from work I like Nine
