[PETITION] LG, Please support Camera2 API! - LG G Pro 2

Hi!
As we all know, picture and video quality on AOSP ROMs for LG's flagships leaves a lot to be desired. Camera2 API support would improve camera performance on G2 and G3 (and maybe it would be beneficial for G Pro 2 aswell)!
I know it doesn't mean a lot to you but it would help us, G2 and G3 owners, a lot! So please support us and sign!
Note: This petition is not hosted by me but Giancarlo Viali from G2 Owners Community on G+! I saw it very beneficial to share on XDA Forums!

Thank You! Fingers crossed! :fingers-crossed:

I wish we simply wish we had more developer support for this device id happily donate £100 to a developer if someone would stick with this device and help make it as good as we all know it can be..
but I've came to the conclusion after meny months that its simpley not going to happen not to the scale of the g2 or g3 anyway which I find upsetting,
this is such a underrated phone its unbelievable for the price I personally think this phone is amazing the screen is lovely to use the ui is smooth as butter and over all its simpley a brilliant phone,
But I think if your expecting donations its just not going to happen I would but I want other devs to back this phone up and help but unfortunately development seems dead such a shame for the beast of a phone this is.

Oh oops srry I shouldn't have posted it here. :silly: but I feel you, it's clearly a very good phone by the specs. Sad not many developers aren't interested in it though. If I had the time I'd happily develop for it I'm learning game development though and all my time goes into studies and social life.

Until it's available on all markets, we won't see it any time soon. That's why we have to do it ourselves.

[Q] Darkyy Rom ported to i5800, for 800€, who wants to contribute?

Hi guys
Darkyy is very busy doing his i9000 stuff,
but he is willing to do bit of overtime on i5800 if 800€ is collected.
Lets see who is interested in tasting bit of the dark(yy) magic
let's get SAMSUNG involved, they're paying € thousands every month for the crap we get
I pledge 10€, can't afford more as a student currently. Keep em coming, modding for the I5800 has to start

i dont think this is a good idea donations are to be given
this system becomes like a sale and its against the forum rules to do any sale on the forum
I do agree. I think people should not do things for money, that's not why we do things for.. And anyway, he can't do anything interesting right now, since we don't have 2.6.32 kernel sources..

Many interested hackers simply don't have a I5800, we can't expect them to buy it so I don't think donations are that bad. I'd prefer to give my money to gsam and precurse though Let's wait for 2.2 and see what can be done.

As far as I know Android (c) is for free. I'm not sure if this step is according to google policy. Anyway - thanks for the proposal - I would like to use stable and light ROM + I would like to choose what to install on it.
I like signatures like "you can buy me a beer". But I do not like "if 800..." anyway - you didn't input a time period ...

I just want Samsung to give me a light and stable 2.2 ROM - because I have paid for it. Plus Android is for FREE. So ? Will he share his income with XDA and Google ? If not then it's not nice.

hi
what is being asked here is like a sale being done ie it looks like asking a price for the services this is like a sale a donation is different it is given by one individual to another in appreciation of his work done and it is not asked as is the case here and doing so is against the forum rules & to my knowledge the I5800 is the cheapest phone in the market at least when i bought it it was
morality is a good think but a faster i5800 is an even better thing
I don't see anything wrong with motivating a very busy developer
for most people who can contribute,5-10€ is not the end of the world and they would rather pay this than having a crappy phone

hi
see below forum rule no 8
8. Donations.
We appreciate all donations to xda-developers.com, it keeps our forum online and well maintained. As a user you're allowed to ask for donations in your signature as a thank you for your hard work. However donations up front are not allowed, this forum is about sharing, not about getting paid to do something, that's what your job is for.
THIS THREAD IS CLOSED

[Thanks]Are we (Cappy users) spoiled?

This is more of a way to say thanks to all the Dev's and users who populate this forum. If you really compare to the various sub-sections (phones) you really just are underwhelmed by a lack of ROM's. And the Captivate development section is full of great quality ROM's. You almost have an overload of ROM's to flash, so many good ones. And also the great i9000 dev's. They did a ton of work to help get us some great ROM's
Here is just a thanks. Keep up the good work
Say thanks to your dev's in the thread below
i agree. definately not good for anyone with a flashing addiction . lol i'm downloading two new roms as i type. thanks dev team for finishing what att/samsung didnt.
agreed
awesome work, Devs
Part of the thanks goes to Samsung for making it easy
That's also why I'll never buy HTC or Motorola as long as they're in the habit of locking bootloaders.
I was considering one of the newer devices but the development sections are non existent. Yes were are spoiled, I agree, thanks to our devs.
MIUI
Necessity breeds invention.
I feel sorry for the people who use stock phones and think that's as good as it gets. Those poor, clueless people.
Thank you, XDA.
Try going to the forums of most other AT&T Android phones, such as the Motorola Bravo, and you'll be shocked that almost 6 months after release, they don't have a single custom ROM, and rooting is still a pain for them!
As for us, we have a ton of amazing devs cranking out awesome ROMs, lagfixes, kernels, themes, etc., so I could never imagine going back to stock again
Mucho Gracias Devs
+100000 to what has been said already. I've learned and gained so much from this forum. I have a real love affair with my cappy! I'm up for an upgrade as we speak, but I can' t imagine a better phone. This is thanks to XDA and the awesomely talented hard working devs on this this forum. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
*Now if I can only get the stupendous battery life others have mentioned, I'd be in heaven*

Agree wholeheartedly!! I would never go back to stock, and I am supremely thankful to all of the devs and users out there that have provided custom roms, kernels, and all of the other goodies available. The biggest thing I am thankful for, though, is all of the information the users and devs provide. I have learned so much about my cappy, and android in general, from this forum. IMHO, the best way to show thanks is to keep up the spirit of sharing, and provide your own insight anywhere it may be useful. I am always happy to help anyone out, as long as it is a question I know something about. Again, a big thanks to all of the devs, and to all of the users!!

I can definitely say that the Captivate Development is one of the best on XDA.
My brother is looking for a new device to upgrade to, he keeps comparing everything to my Captivate. He still hasn't found anything that he would rather have over the Captivate, mostly because of the support available on XDA.

Love the captivate, but it wouldn't be anything withput the captivate android development section
I am so surprised every time I try to check on ROMs for other phones.
I am scared about leaving the captivate, I don't want to be stuck on stock. I was going to go to atrix next, that isn't looking good. Hopefully the SGS II is as easy to dev as the captivate, and hopefully its out soon.
We are so very spoiled. The hardest thing about flashing a ROM for a captivate is choosing which one.
Thanks to all the great devs that make this possible.

One thing that I think is crazy is that the necessity for a lagfix created something unexpected and amazing in the Voodoo Project (ext4 optimizations, sound, and color), mad props to Supercurio. Not trying to single any dev out, y'all are great and continue to produce amazing ROM's.
I'm glad my phone didn't work as promised right out of the box. I feel sorry for anyone that decided to move on to another phone for that reason. The developers in this section are awesome there are easily 15 solid roms and 10 different kernels to choose from. Sometimes navigating the choices can give a guy a head ache, but Thanks to all the hard working devs in the captivate XDA it's almost impossible to make a bad choice. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I agree with everyone. I bought my SGH-I897 because a friend bought one for his wife and she loved it (even with stock ROM) and got it free on Black Friday. I came from iPhone original to this and was only marginally satisfied... until the custom ROM I installed a few days ago. Wow, what a difference. The hardware that promised so much is now free to work as it should. Better battery life, smoother performance, more options, more access.
Like others, I feel sorry for those who at one time held this device in their hands then gave it up because of terrible software.
Thanks to all those who take the time to develop, update, write guides, share findings, take risks... for the benefit of fellow Captivate owners. Thanks.
100% agreed.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all developers here in XDA. I officially salute to all of them. They help us without asking payback. I definitely think donation is my way to show how I appreciate their work, time and their unselfishness of sharing.
And also want to thank all memebers here on XDA. They are extremely helpful as well.
Being winmo rom flasher/users for 5 years. As android is totally new to me. After been reading lots of lots of topics, I just recently had guts to flash a custom android rom. And all I can say is wow. Didn't expected a big different like that.
Again, thanks all ppl here in XDA. I know I'm spoiled, and protected too, as long as I am a member of XDA community.

Gutsy is how I roll. Plus the Atrix HD really competes with the high end devices since it has the same Snapdragon S4 as the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X. Ran a Quadrant benchmark test and pulled a 4,750 without any real customizations yet. Also, this display...truly gorgeous, one to behold!

Okay, I'll put you on the directory. I may have to "tiny url" up some links, as I'm pushing the 30,000 character limit on this one!
Torn between hijacking a thread and cluttering up the main page with a new one - chose the hijack. I'm so sorry, MagicXB!
I also am leaving, after such a short time here! Speaking of the Xperia ion, that's the one I am going with. AT&T finally got tired of throwing A2's my way to fix my reception problems and gave me a free warranty upgrade. I chose the ion for a lot of reasons, and I think I'll be happy with it.
I got really into following the community here and have been excited to follow the projects that are ongoing. The dev community here is excellent, and I'm convinced good things will be around for this phone for awhile. Unfortunately, with AT&T getting rid of support for this phone, I feel like you'll see people like me dropping off - they won't have any more A2's to give out!
Thank you all for your help and time.

Going with the Xperia Ion seems to be quite risky to me. The hardware itself looks quite beautiful but it launched with Gingerbread onboard, and in this day and age of countless phones coming out I would be worried about it even seeing ICS (much less anything after that).
To be honest, I obsessed over this decision for awhile. The One X was my main competitor, but I don't like not having expandable storage, and I've had really bad experiences with HTC phones before. The Atrix HD is pretty, but it just didn't feel right to me. And the Galaxy S3 looks like a cheap piece of plastic from my childhood and I hate the Samsung UI (not to mention the off chance that Apple manages to run Samsung into the ground).
ICS is great, but it's not everything. Sony has been really good about updating older phones to ICS and I have no doubt this one will get it soon enough. And if it doesn't, the Sony UI incorporates some of the more important elements of ICS already. I think it's a really nice phone, well made and I'm hoping I'll enjoy it. That said, I'm sure there are more than enough people here who think I'm insane, lol .

Should i buy it to start developing for it?

Well i've been considering going back to developing for a few months, however a few things have been stopping me from doing this, but to keep it short: for now i'm going to do it as a hobby so i'm not planning on buying an expensive phone (as i don't own an android phone right now), my contract ends this week and i can get a new Moto G for around 72 euros which i consider is a great price. So here are my doubts:
Is the community good for this phone? I've wandered around its forum a few times and so far i have a good impression, but i'd really want to know the users opinions
Do you think it's worth it and i could take advantage of this phone? I personally think its a great phone for this as its pretty much stock and for what i've seen support is quite good, but i just want to make sure
Thanks a lot, and i know this questions might seem stupid but i'd really use some help

Hehe, don't expect too much from me though. I'm a software engineer, but this is my first time developing for Android. I wanted to look at the code because my Moto G suffers from the dreaded RAM bug, and I have an idea what the problem could be. Hopefully I can contribute to getting it fixed

I dont recall mentioning donations at all, and if you knew my previous work on the Galaxy S you'd know i started without even the option to donate which i added later on after a few users asked me to do it, wouldn't have put a donation button if it wasn't for that, i don't do this for donations. I do this as a hobby because i find it fun, and it's quite satisfactory reading nice comments on work you've done (not that i have done any for the moto G yet anyway). I find it more "hilarious" you're calling a thread hilarious for such reason, if i wanted donations don't you think i'd go for a high budget phone where you could expect greater donations? The only reason i did this and i chose such phone is because i think for such price, a great base (aosp) i can learn a lot.
Not that i care about your comment anyway as it's based on bs, and saying it's hilarious says a lot about your sense of humour which i'm sorry, but i don't share it
Just wanted to clarify a few things, to avoid confusions, and i'm sorry if i offended someone with the answer but i just answered the same way as the way in which the post i'm replying to was.

The future of P2-development

Good afternoon Lenovo P2-community,
I bought the P2 this week and afterwards I realised , that the main developers wzedlare and EypCnn left to the Moto G5-community just in time.
What about other developers or those who want to become one, is there a chance to see continous builds of LineageOS e.g.?
It would be extremely sad if not..
Please update me - how are the odds for a revival of the P2 development?
Best regards
swatchfb
Edit:
It's done once and twice officially. Thanks @mikeioannina
Unless we get a Dev that takes donations or something like that.
I for one would donate for an official lineage OS.

Yes it's really sad to see a this much good device not having the development it deserves. Its competitor redmi note 4 which is inferior to p2 has a lot better development. I think this device isn't sold much like moto g5 plus and redmi note 4.Atleast here in India, sale is very less and other devices have been sold at least upto 100 times more.I am still skeptical about the development.P1 doesn't have a great development either. We have roms but they are buggy.Would have been nice to have wzedlare and egypcnn here
I would donate too...
Damn, why did they go to the Moto G5? It's clearly a downgrade -.-

Exactly Even I don't get it.And they had done so much work for 3-4 months,They almost gave us a stable rom.P2 is so much better than g5.If it would have been g5 plus i would have understood but g5!!!.I don't understand
Buy me a second P2 to dedicate to development and I will gladly continue the bringup to the point of full functionality. While I do have a P2 myself I can't afford messing with it too much as it's my work phone and I need it to be stable and reachable.

You can compile builds brother,we are here to test .I will be your tester. But please be there for at least 1-2 years.
Just like I do with my mi 4,I test builds and the developer has been there for at least 2 years.
But plz do something for this awesome device:crying:
I'm definitely not going to do "blind-runs" and jeopardize other people's devices with builds I haven't tested myself.
Not only is it irresponsible but also extremely slow to do, even with a group of dedicated testers.
As if we knew how many people are interested in it, one could think about a collection of money.

I'm definitely not going to do "blind-runs" and jeopardize other people's devices with builds I haven't tested myself.
Not only is it irresponsible but also extremely slow to do, even with a group of dedicated testers.

How unstable can they be , if calling and internet works,I don't mind flashing that build. If we want something for our device,we will have to do this.
Maybe yes that can be slow,I agree. But I don't think we will be able to raise that much money to buy a new device altogether.I am still a student I can't contribute money
If you trust me enough to do this then you can always hit the Donate button linked to my XDA profile.
Just make sure you leave a note on your donation telling me what the money is meant to be used for.
If enough money accumulates for a amazon.de order of an P2, then I can just straight out buy a development device there.
That is the beauty of XDA though, if enough people want it, and each of those people dishes out 5-10 bucks, then financing something like this is easy.

Let's see if we are able to ,but I don't think there are enough people to contribute. We will have to wait for a new developer.Hope he comes soon....
Your zuk z1 is in working condition?I mean you use it or not?
I would spend 20 bucks.
Maybe we should do a survey to see how many would follow

It's working fine and is currently in the possession of my wife.
Although I must admit she isn't the easiest-going woman and the device has seen its fair share of scruff marks since I've handed it over to her.
Hey why start from scratch when we have almost stable builds... Just ask permission for maintainer or just fork the changes. We already have a couple of working ROMs that are risk free. If you could, then try developing on it. Improve it.
Like everyone said raising money for a device is very difficult and slow. Try making modifications to the official RR or unofficial LOS. You'll receive donations for that I'm pretty sure you will.

Very well said ,this makes more sense. Why do extra work when wzedlare and eypCnn worked for 3 months, just continue from that. And they have already said that any developer can continue from their work. :good:
Yep, sad to see a great phone like the P2 no longer have any development on XDA
Having said that the latest Nougat stock ROM is pretty good, especially in its deodexed version, and rooted. Some tweaks are missing though, like Ambient Display (is there really no way to add that with an APK ?) and customization of the pressed on the HOME button (like double-press). Now that the source code is out would it take a lot of work for a developer to add some of these tweaks ?
Okay the two Turkish devs we had left, but this is going nowhere. While donations are always appreciated asking for money to continue the development is a matter of bad taste imo. I can try to continue the Resurrection Remix builds. Also porting roms from Redmi Note 4X (SD625) should be pretty easy as the hardware is very similar. I had ported thousands of roms for Oukitel K6000 Pro, I was the first who brought Nougat to this phone (Dec 2016, when the official Nougat arrived 5 months later) and then back in time the community was in the same position lacking development so I was just driven to try it by myself. After all source code and device tree are all there, almost anyone with a basic knowledge and free time can build a rom. Give it time and I'm sure that new devs will appear.
Meanwhile I opened a new test builds thread

It is easy to port from Redmi 4.I know it because I ported some roms in the past.
Take etc/firmware from p2.
Take kernel(zimage) from p2
Take fstab.qcom and ueventd.qcom.rc from p2.Then it will boot but you will have a lot of bugs.It is nice to see someone hustling for a rom.If you want to port from redmi note 4, you should also take whole /vendor folder.Good luck.
