Micro SD's from eBay: Any Positive Experiences? - Galaxy S 5 Accessories

Has anyone here gotten legit working 32gb or 64gb cheap MicroSD cards from eBay? There are a lot of complaints that they are 2gb cards faked as 32gb, but some of these sellers have 99 positive feedback for every 1 negative feedback.
If you have received a legit working 32gb or 64gb generic Micro SD card on eBay- please share the buyer you used!

I bought a 64 gb micro sd card from luxetown for 15.95 + 1.93 in shipping. Wasn't a fake 2 gb in disguise for me.

I got a 128 GB SD card on there, i have had it for a while now and its still working pretty good. sadly, i don't remember who the seller was

Dont bother i bought 3 cards from different sellers all fake 8 gb cards

Hi...how's your cheap microSD 64 GB behaving right now...is it still ok? Unfortunately I'm from Romania and I bought this kind of microSD card https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEunUj7sRSI ...I bought it from a person like you and me, I tried it and it showed me 62,57GB in ES File Explorer...everything seemed to work just perfect until I copied some more files and it cracked...now whenever I insert my microSD card, I get nothing!
Actually I found out that the card signature could be scratched...I think it was toothpaste)...and now I have to once bit, twice shy so I would like a microSD card like yours ...I'm waiting for your reply...thanks in advance!

I never buy any SD cards from Ebay.......it's such a minefield!!

I bought an 32gb sd card from ebay a few months ago but it always had issues with mounting and storing photos from the camera. It wiped the whole sd card last week.. So i do not recommend buying a sd card from ebay.. to much risk.

I bought an evo 64gb last wrek and it is a fake. Got my money back thought.

I have the SanDisk Ultra 64 and its been nothing but problems. It will randomly corrupt files on my card, deletes all pics and videos and randomly unmounts. Have no idea what the issue is. The only way to get it to work again is copy what I can to my external hdd. Then reformat the card. it works for a couple weeks, then it does it again.
Unfortunately Amazon had no return policy on this card. I've been thinking of just ordering another or trying a Samsung card. But I thought SanDisk was the company to go with the memory card game. Who knew.
Anybody have issues with the Samsung card??

ive had a 64gb sandisk since they came out and BB did the first 79.99$ sale. No issue's at all. Maybe you guys got a bad batch?
Yeah seems you guys got a bad batch got mine when amazon had "new - open box" for 18 bucks.
I have 3 sandisk 64gb card. One in my phone, galaxy tab 2, and in my galaxy player. I haven't had no problem.
I was one of the lucky folks who grabbed the 64gb from verizon when they had a typo (24.99) / I was fixed in less than 2 hours / I just happened to be snooping around XDA and found the tip (posted about 2 minutes before I got there). / No issues / However, I moved the card to my Nook HD for movies and stuff and have a 32GB in the S3. I will probably take the advice I see here and go with Sammy. Most likely, it's gonna be more compatible. Damn! I got my 64GB SanDisk micro SD card on Monday, and it's been fine so far, granted it's only been a few days. The 16GB card I had in my SII worked flawlessly for nearly 18 months. Bad cards do happen, though...
I have used the 32 and 64 GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC cards on my S2, Note, S3, S4 with no issues.

128GB Micro SD issues

Anyone having issues with using a 128gb micro sd card? I bought one from ebay (not Sandisk) and formated to fat32. Phone recognizes card without issues but there are issues saving stuff to the card. Here's a few of them:
My podcast app folder is on the card and often it gives me an error saying feed had an error saving eipsode.
Also had issues having Titanium Backup folder on the sd card, not saving the latest backup.
Did a nandroid backup with TWRP which gave me no errors but when I went to look for the backup, it was not there.
Tried using sd card as default picture folder but noticed some pictures I was taking not being stored.
Anyways, if you have a Sandisk 128gb on your S5 let me know if it's running smoothly. If so, I'll bite the bullet and spend the $$$ to buy the sandisk.
Uhh there is issues writing to EXT SD.

I didn't think anyone but Sandisk made a 128Gb microsd card. You should verify that it is *actually* 128Gb instead of a smaller card just reporting 128.
*edit* Upon further reading, that looks like the classic fake card scam. It is actually a smaller card like an 8Gb, where it simply overwrites data after the first 8Gb is used.

Only buy memory products from reputable vendors. If you buy on Amazon, make sure it is "sold by Amazon.com". I bought a fake Sandisk card from a 3rd party store on Amazon.

Hi,
Care to expound on the "hacked" card?
I've actually seen some of those 128gb generic microsd cards being sold on ebay for $49.
seller seems to have almost 2000 positive feedback.
Might just wait for the sandisk one to be sure.

Hacked was a poor word choice, but frauds terms have been reprogramming smaller flash storage storage so to show as larger ones and selling them on ebay for sometime. As far as I know only Sandisk is making and selling them, so generic branded cards throws a red flag. With sizes like that, it would take sometime typically before the fraud is detected.

Exactly the one I purchased from ebay, thinking I was saving 80% from the originals from SanDisk. And I left a positive feedback for seller on ebay because I got the card 3 days after paying for it before I tested it out to see the problems. My mistake.
One thing I would like to point out though is that the card itself never gave me problems when connected to a PC via adapter. It would show its content and save whatever I added to without any problems. The issue was the card properly functioning inside the phone, as I listed on the OP.

I had two 64GB Sandisk cards fail withing a month or two after I formatted them to FAT32 and used in S3. I had to do it because I was on a kernel without exFAT support. Sandisk replaced both cards under warranty. I chatted with their tech support, and they couldn't tell me if FAT32 is officially supported, Their response was "people on XDA say it works"
Anyway, the card you ordered will come exFAT formatted, and currently I see no reason to change formatting to FAT32.

I bought a samsung 64gb class 10 on amazon. $30'ish
Got the new sandisk 128gb today and I can confirm it works flawlessly. Therefore, the problem was with the cheap and genetic card sold on ebay. Thanks everyone for your feedback and assistance on the matter.:good:
I have a 128 GB "successfully" running in my Sprint Galaxy S5 (900G) here. Lately it has been very stable. Up until about a month ago once every couple weeks it would seemingly flakes out, and any apps I had installed there had translucent icons ... I'd have to format and remounted to be recognized.
But for the last 3-4 months I've had no issues with it. I can move apps to it (at least some, others can move with an associated risk the app describes, and some cannot at all - I use App Manager III and I don't move apps that show up but have the warning "x" on them - )
I've had no issues mounting or having it recognized, or running apps from it asidre from the flakiness I described, which is probably because it is a class 10 speed - it's a very small space for 128 GB to function, the thing runs HOT, if you use some kind of dual-layer case the heat could be your issue (if there is still an issue there). Let me know!

[Q] Looking for a compatible micro SD card

First off, let me say that I have done a lot of searching, and I'm aware that the Samsung Galaxy S 4 has problems with some micro SD cards. What I couldn't find (and please forgive me if I overlooked something obvious) was a well tested micro SD card that is compatible. Mine stopped working and, as far as I could find, there was no solution.
Does anybody know of a cheap micro SD card that is at least 16GB and less than $20 that works with the S 4?
I use an 8GB PNY or Kensington (can't remember which) micro SD in my sgh-i337 Galaxy S4 with no issues. I also have one of the same micro SD brands above in my At&t Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S2.
I use a Microcenter's generic MicroSD Card in mine and have no problems, it's probably the cheapest card you can get since they are sold without packaging. If you have a microcenter near you they sell them at the cashier, I got a 32gb card class 10 for $14 (16gb for $8) and I have had no problems with it over the last year.
http://tinyurl.com/mfls87d
If you need fast transfer speeds I use a Samsung sdcard for my DSLR which gets around 80mb/s transfer speeds as advertised and they sell a microsd that gets 48mb/s for not much more than the microcenter one. You'll only ever need this if you transfer extremely large files. (I can't say whether or not this works with the s4, but since it's a Samsung brand can only assume)
http://tinyurl.com/nlgdmvs
I use http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DM1BDPK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks everyone.
In my personal experience, I've had the best success with SanDisk brand MicroSD cards. I've been using a 64GB SDXC card (reformatted FAT32) since the day I got my S4 (at launch), and it hasn't faltered on me one bit (meaning 18 months and counting). I've also had success with them in a variety of previous phones. They're also reasonably priced and available just about anywhere that matters.
Got one of these ... http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00J2BSW9O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 ... works fine. Left it formatted as it came as the phone sees it as 64GB but Windows (XP Pro) would only see it as 32GB. If I plug it into a card reader that's a problem but if I browse/copy files via wifi it makes no difference.
So far very quick!

Don't buy that crap! I bought some cheap SD card from ebay 64GB for like £5 the Read/Write speeds are terrible and the card stopped working after a week! Go with a decent brand such as SanDisk.
I took the plunge before reading this and the reviews for those crappy cards on Amazon. I got a 128GB card for about $15 and it sucks. It shows it's 128GB but when I write anything over about 10 GB's to it the card becomes corrupt and unreadable. I then have to format it in order to use it again.
I'm currently using a 64GB I had laying around (SanDisk). It works great but I may jump on a 128 GB card if/when the price for them drops. A 64 GB card costs 1/4 of the price of a 128 GB card.
That's how they do it

That's because it's actually about an 8-10 GB card that has a label on it saying 128 GB - and a firmware that was hacked to report itself as a 128 GB card. There's tons of those on eBay - don't buy memory cards from eBay! Like everybody says...stick with Amazon. In Western Canada, Memory Express is also fantastic!
Just bought a 32gb card on newegg for 13.99 shipped
Late post, but Adorama and Amazon had the 128gb for $89.99. Amazon still has it for the next 17m.

Recommend microSD for new S5?

I got a Samsung Galaxy s5 gold. My old 32gb card is full. I purchased a Samsung evo 64g card off eBay but it turned out to be a Pos. Is there another brand out there that is trustworthy and works great that's fast etc...?
Can't go wrong with a sandisk ultra class 10 SD card.

Sandisk.

You do realize that this is faker than Milli Vanilli, right? Apart from saying "Ultra" on the packaging but "Extreme" on the card, the cheap price is a dead give-away. A Sandisk 128gb microSD card will be $85-90 minimum, more for higher data transfer speeds.

Go with Amazon, unless Wal*Mart's prices are the same. Amazon usually has the best prices, and they can definitely be trusted as long as you're buying directly from them or the purchase is "fulfilled" by them.
Went to Best Buy and got a Samsung Evo 64 gigabyte $30 I'm still having problems... I took my old SD card copied it all to my desktop in a folder. Then plug in phone with new card format using phone and then drag and drop but the folder DCIM with all my pics and videos transfers half way and than an error pops up saying the phone disconnected or something. I have tried using the ten different card readers I have and many times Windows Vista or Xp says Windows cannot read card w/o formatting which does NOT work.
Got it working. Using the adapter that came with the microSD card
I'm of the opinion that eBay is not a good place to go for SD cards. I'm using a Samsung Evo 32 GB card (purchased in-person from MicroCenter) in my Avant and it's been trouble-free.
One thing to watch out for if you're using a card reader on a PC: make sure it can handle MicroSDXC cards.
