When returning my phone, do I need to swap it back to 44S or is it okay to leave CM12?
It's probably best to return it to stock, follow the instructions in section 8 of my guide thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2839471
That'll put CM11S (05Q build) back onto it.

I apologize if these have been asked already but I'm new to this process and I have a few questions.
I'm just trying to update to a (relatively) stock Jellybean build early. (VRBLK1)
I plan on following just Step 1 on this guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114
Will I need to be concerned about blocking OTA updates or can I receive them since it's a stock build?
Am I at risk for voiding my warranty/phone insurance from Verizon?
Can you point me in a direction towards how to backup my phone in case I'd like to reverse what I've done?
I suggest following section 1 of my guide. This way you can root your stock ics rom, flash a recvery, make a nandroid backup, then flash the VRBLK1 stock rooted rom scrosler has posted in the dev section from recovery.
Anytime you mod your device you voud the warranty. However thanks to section 5 of my guide you can get back to pure stock and verizon will never know you did anything.
Ok thank you. For some reason I was hesitant to install a custom recovery because I perceived it as making more changes to the phone and getting further from stock, but now I realize that it's the much smarter safer thing to do.
I'm in the process of installing CWM through EZ recovery right now. As per your guide. I like your guide because it allows me to make a recovery before installing Jelly bean which seems like the more reasonable thing to do. I can make a nandroid of my OS before doing anything odd. This brings me to my next question.
1. Can I install the No wipe Jelly bean rom leak VRBLK1 (from the original guide I posted) with this method?
2. What's this backing up the IMEI/EFS that I hear about? Should I follow this guide before installing the Rom? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852255
First off, my apologies in advance if this is redundant, I just want to be safe and make sure I'm thorough.
I've rooted/unlocked/flashed multiple ROMs, and I want to try the stock image of the new release. So will I follow these instructions to the "T"?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867253
Then, and in accordance with the instructions above, follow all steps provided here? (section 5):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709
My only hesitation on this, is that I will be loading the 4.0.4 via ODIN, but the first link states that doing something via ODIN will increase my Flash Count. If that's the case, wouldn't the ODIN in the last link bring my counter with a +1?
Also, can anyone see/have experienced any issues using this method this morning to pull and apply this morning's update?
please read the instructions again...It says the flash counter will only be tripped if you flash custom firmware with odin. All the links in section 5 are either stock official or unofficial, either way they don't trip the flash counter...section 5 is all you need!
Im guessing that the stock cm11 for this phone doesnt include root?
Is this basically a nexus phone, but running cyanogen without root, busybox, etc?
I am looking to uprade from my nexus 5 and I love it, just need something with better battery life.
Thanks

CM11 isn't the stock ROM for this phone, the stock ROM is CM11S. CM11S doesn't include root. You can flash CM11 (which does include root) to the device though.
It isn't really like a Nexus device at all. Nexus devices are pure aosp Android, this phone is obviously CM (they're two very different things).

Awesome, thanks. When you want to restore to stock, is it as easy as unzipping the newest .zip and running the flash all bat? Or manually doing it in fastboot?
I noticed that there are several more series of fastboot commands of the oneplus one vs the nexus.
When I get a new phone, I just like to make sure I can get back to stock before I root and all. Really, the only reason I root is to flash viper4android.
thanks

You need to flash manually using fastboot, I have detailed instructions in section 8 of my guide thread:

Just wanted to say v4a works well in this phone. Cm11s which is stock os can also be rooted. Any of the custom ROMs can be as well. I'm personally using temasek unofficial cm12 based on latest lollipop and I haven't booted my cm11s ROM in almost a month straight it's that stable lol. AK kernel is most popular with that ROM and also what I use. I also went from nexus 5 to this phone for the battery life
Cheers

With Nexus devices you can download a factory image that wipes EVERYTHING (even your custom recovery) and flashes stock EVERYTHING from scratch, all with one batch file, no "extras" or anything else needed. You simply run the batch file, wait a few minutes, and voila you're doneāno need to worry about whether you're using the proper modem/radio/whatever.
But my head is spinning after spending two minutes reading different threads about how to flash the latest OPO release. Now, I don't mind learning how to do things with this phone, this isn't my first rodeo and I realize sometimes you have to dig deeper. I'm just wondering if OP provides an official factory image that does everything all at once without having to worry about flashing extras and making sure you're on the proper radio/modem/whatever.
(Note, I'm not asking about someone's zip that they've compiled and rooted.) Thanks!
You might benefit from reading some important threads for our device:

Look at section 8 of my guide for instructions on how to flash the stock images.
Pretty much everything you could want to ask about this device has already been asked and answered before, so checking out the stickies and using the search feature should be your first port of call before creating new threads.

OK so I read A LOT in all of those threads, and even followed some links to further threads. There's a lot to take in, so I'm sorry if it wasn't ever perfectly clear whether "signed fastboot zip" is the same as "fastboot image", and whether either of those is the equivalent of Nexus factory images (in other words, whether they wipe literally everything, including recovery/modem/radio/etc, and re-install it all from scratch).
Also, am I understanding properly that "XNPH44S" (aka "44s") is the latest CM11s factory image version? So I can use fastboot to flash that and I'll be on the most proper modem/radio (obviously it flashes the data, cache and so forth, I'm concerned about whether it will update my modem/radio to the proper versions) then I can use the stock update feature to obtain the latest incremental update?

Signed fastboot zip = fastboot image = stock image = the equivalent of Nexus stock images. It wipes every partition and flashes new. 44S is the latest version that's available in that format. 05Q is the actual latest version (released yesterday) but it hasn't been made available in that format by CM yet. So, flash the 44S stock images and then you'll receive the 05Q update.

Thanks for the clarification! Makes a lot more sense to my puny brain when put straightforward like that.
Guys please help.
Currently using OPO unlocked. updated the phone maually to Q. but now facing issues like continuous screen non responsive, heavy battery draining, GPS not working properly.
PLease help to go back to 44s from 05Q using TWRP.
Download the 44S stock images here:
http://builds.cyngn.com/factory/bacon/cm-11.0-XNPH44S-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip
Follow the instructions in section 8 of my guide thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2839471
(Without downloading the 05Q images of course)
Don't flash the userdata image or it'll wipe your internal storage.
