This camera issue is becoming unbearable. Every 5 minutes the camera stops working. I can't use camera for more than once then I have to reboot, multiple times a day? Any way to narrow down the issue?
Latest cataclysm and ex2.11
Have you try clean install of the rom & the kernal? Normally it fixes some errors by just doing the clean install again.

Or try power off your phone, wait 1-2 mins and power up again. Sometimes it was helpful for me.

I was able to fix my Nexus 5 camera issues introduced with Android 5.1 by reinstalling Google Play Services and clearing app data of the camera app.
(Following this post: h ttps://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=160609#c135) [Sorry, I'm not allowed to post working links.]

My wife and I both have the Nexus 5. I'm still on KitKat while she is on lollipop. She is completely stock and upgraded to lollipop via ota. I tried to take pictures in low light so I set the flash to always on. I noticed sometimes it would not flash, sometimes it would flash, and sometimes the flash would come on and stay on leaving the app in a hung state. Anyone else? Or should I just consider a different app from the Play Store?
Not an issue for me stock 5.0. I flashed factory image didn't wait for OTA. Try clearing cache and data on camera app?

I thought of clearing the cache after I posted this, so I did. Now it seems the flash doesn't work at all even when set to be on all the time. I guess I will just stick to HDR on her phone
I've got problems too, and I looked for it in the web. Seems to be a known bug, when you use the torch then the camera has problems and crashes sometimes too.
Anyway rebooting fixes everything. Apparently here in xda nobody has started investigating this

I'm wondering if using a third party led flashlight app (tiny LED is good) would resolve if it's just a Google issue? I cant we why it's a camera issue, I'm putting my money on the Google flashlight code.
I have an issue where any google app gets killed by system within 5-10 minutes if me not using the app and leaving it in recents. This is noticeable because when I open the app it has to reload it. This is an issue with hangouts cause sometimes I don't get messages through hangouts. XDA app runs in background fine for hours at a time but I rarely have more than 2 apps in recents and I have 750mb+ of RAM.
I'm running cataclysm 5.1 with elemental x 2.11.
I have turned off grenify, left Google play services untouched, still I get the issue. Tried reinstalling hangouts and inbox (for example) and that didn't help. Its a clean install, I had this on stock 5.1 also. Both clean installs. I've reflashed the ROM so I guess its not ROM related.

Then it will be good if you try other kernel. Yesterday this thread has started and it seems that is kernel problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/android-5-1-chrome-freezing-t3057023
I'm running Lollipop 5.1.1 and whenever I swipe away recent apps in the task switcher such as Chrome or Play Store, there is a lag/stutter before the app leaves the screen. It swipes away and then pauses for a second before leaving. Is there any way to fix this.

Well, this might be from you having a lot of apps opened at the same time.
When was the last time you flashed a ROM?

I flashed a ROM a couple of days ago - the latest Cataclysm. It was occurring even before that and even happens when I clean flash any ROM and kernel combination. It also happens if I have only one app in recent apps.

How many apps do you have installed? Xposed? Any xposed module that interferes with the recent apps screen?

I have xposed and maybe 20 apps but if it even happens on a clean install, then it doesn't really matter. Maybe it's just time for a new phone. Here's a link to a similar post where people concluded it was just normal.

It's weird as it doesn't happen on my N4, so it's not the hardware's fault. Maybe it's a Lollipop bug. Android M is gonna come out soon, so maybe that will fix it.

It doesn't happen on my Nexus 7 2013 either which is weird.
I thought bumping this thread would be better than starting a new one. Here's a video I found showing the lag on Youtube. The lag occurs on the last app when he's swiping away Chrome.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9P4m_B4uAQ
Happens on my moto g 3 too.. It's so so annoying.. :/
Happens to me to, nexus 5 stock, started happening with android 5 or 5.0.1, still happening with android 6. doesn't matter how many apps I'm swiping away, I can have only 2 apps in the recent apps list, the last one will always have a small lag when swiping away.
I don't know if any of you guys are experiencing the same problem as I am because I have looked all over the internet but there's no solution. So I'm on Paranoid Android 7.2.3, Snapchat crashes after 2 or 3 seconds into launching the app. After a few crashes, it makes to the login page but every time I tap log in, it just freezes at that screen without even changing the log in button into logging in. I have tried to log in both rooted and unrooted. It just doesn't work. Anyone can share their solution?

i think its because its using the new GPU drivers, sultan had the problem too took him a while to fix.
considering Paranoid Android has quite a lot of bugs, i suggest looking elsewhere.
I've been using aospextended sultanized and i promise you now its amazing, i usually flash new roms constantly because im not satisfied but this ones got me locked. :good:

Will try it some other day because I just flashed PA a few hours back
Got the 7 Pro, Software updated(October patch), rooted and Camera app updated.
*When I first got the phone I updated it immediately and then rooted it, the GCam app worked fine. but it was soo slow switching between camera modes, so I uninstalled and then reinstalled(updated) the app. after doing this the app just doesn't want to work.
*I also "disabled" root - updated the phone without the patched init-boot. still, didn't work.
I saw that it fixed for some just updating the app, didn't work for me.
Any other solutions?
"Any other solutions?"
Not to be facetious but you could go back to factory and enjoy the phone as it was meant to work which is great by the way. YMMV
Tried clearing the data for the camera app?

The app still causes problems, it's not a "root" problem.
And I don't live in a place where Google "supports" the country. so rooting is ideal for me and a nice to have.

Did you happen to have a Magisk mod that disabled the navbar, pill, enabled immersive or similar? If so, these mods will slow down the switching between modes.
If clearing data and cache of the camera app didn't work, a clean flash may be in order.

The thing is that wiping the phone won't(probably) fix it.. well it will, until it auto updates the camera app. and I really don't want to go through the struggle of reinstalling and logging into everything again, thanks for the idea but i'd pass..
Thanks either way

Well, at least you now know why it was slow switching between modes and that it was that mods causing it and not the camera itself.
Best of luck getting it all straightened out...
