the tempered glass is fortified tempered and said to be shatter proof with lifetime replacement. not sure if this is a promotion, but looks like they're including a free windshield mount too. i don't have a mount so looks like it will come in handy

GG4 is not impossible to shatter or scratch. I've seen Note 4's get shattered and scratched. I mainly use tempered glass screen protectors to keep my phone in mint condition so the resale value doesn't decrease by getting scratched.

I've used an Anker Tempered Glass screen protector since about two days after I got my N5 and have also used this with a multitude of different cases. What I'm wondering is, with the tempered glass, is there when reason for a case if all I'm worried about is the glass? Will the screen protector protect it from a fall on it's own or is a case still necessary?
I don't use cases anymore, specially with the N5 which is already a really big phone.
Now I am using a Nillkin H+ tempered glass of 0.3mm.
I don't think I am covered from a fall but I'm sure that the risk is mitigated.
There is a lot of people who dropped their N5 with this tempered glass and the only destroyed thing was the Nillkin glass. But i'm not sure which of them have used a case.
The size doesn't bother me as much as the fact that the cases really take away from the beauty of this phone.

case will help any jarring or impact from a fall better than a naked fall so yes a case is always better and added protection even a thin one. The glass may protect your screen to a degree but a hard enough side drop may still shatter it.
Lucky for me I paid the extra for insurance when my bought my Tab S 10.5 because my GF tossed it from the bed to my computer chair with its Samsung book cover on and the magnet flap opened and it hit face down shattering the screen.
I am wondering what the difference in protection screen protectors offer. Tempered glass seems cool, but does it have any downside? Thanks for any advice.

Tampered glass screen protectors are the best as compared to plastic ones. But they won't protect the screen from shattering. They don't have any downside. Look for glass screen protectors that have oleophobic coathing, that significantly reduces the fingerprints, smudges.

highly recommend this one.. I have it for my tab 8.4 and a cracked appeared on my. Skinomi is sending me a replacement free of charge. I also had glass protector on my phone and it helped from shattering. only the glass protector broke. But I guess it all depends on the impact.

I think its the same gorilla glass in the back and in the front so yes, if you're gonna put a screen in the front, it seems logical to put one on the back too.

Just purchased both a front and back tempered glass (Nilkin). I'm wondering if an aluminium bumper would affect the signal/gps at all, and if the tempered glass would get in the way... Any thoughts?
Ah hell with it. Went the aliexpress route and purchased the aluminium bumper. Hope it all works out. I'll report back whenever I get it.

I am expecting my S6 in the mail this week, i am concerned about dropping it but not crazy about using cases for a phone so im looking for the best tempered glass protector that is currently out there, dont really care what the price is as long as it has no significant issues with it .

You can cosider the Otterbox or Araree branded tempered glass protectors. Both are good with no observed halos.
I didn't want a case for mine either so I just went with a dbrand carbon fiber skin for the back and also for the camera lense
Sometimes. no film on your phone is much better than having one one your phone.
Phantom glass is the best. It uses actual gorilla glass, not just any run of the mill "tempered glass"

I have honestly not had any luck with tempered glass screen protectors on curved screens. They all seem to reduce screen sensitivity to a level that's unacceptable to me. I can't stand having to press stuff twice or have the notification blind be difficult to pull down.
After trying 3 different tempered glass screen protectors they all ended up being crap, and these were decent ones too, the glue around the edges attract so much dust and debri, I've seen people use a UV light to put on a full cover screen protector with some special adhesive , but it's expensive. My s8+ has been naked for months now just a spigen full armour case on it lol.
