i have an htc surround and i cant figure out how to uninstall the mango custom rom
it has an internal sd card so i have to figure out another way to do it. i want to go back because i want to use zune again.
so how do you uninstall a custom rom on the htc surround without using the sd card?
you need to install stock rom or radio if you can do update or try and get stock from the forum.I was on HSPL without using custom rom and after official radio update my HSPL gone.(I should have use RSPL).
where do i install it? and dont i need zune to put stuff on my phone?
to get that stock rom or radio well i'm not quite sure but it's in the forum. why don't you try under 'Windows Phone 7 Software Development' please choose the correct one for your rom.
do you receive any update from htc etc ....
sorry i haven't replied in a while. so my device connects to zune now and it does ask for an update but i haven't tried it yet.

does it state what type of update,if its from HTC the best that you update cause ot might be an update of your radio or rom which happen to me when I decided to uninstall my HSPL and get an update from HTC.Once I update my Hspl automatically uninstall. Now I'm back to normal.
ok thanks im going to have to do the update tomorrow so i will let you know if it worked
ok so i did it but i didnt work
does your bootloader stated HSPL or SPL.
You can get the stock roms for Surround in this forum for all the carriers. Installing one of the stock roms should fix you back to SPL, but I could be mistaken.
u need to flash pre-nodo or nodo stock rom ...
it says i have spl 1.52
if it doesn't stated HSPL it means that you're back to normal.
is there a way i can take the dark forces logo of the start up
you need to ask them.
Hi i don't want to star another thread so ill ask here, i have an hd7 with the dft ROM and HSPL, i want to revert to stock but i'm not sure which to install first the OSPL or the original tmobile rom, any info would help
Thanks
Any help with my question?! i cant post in the official HSPL/RSPL thread

look here you can find many official RUU for desire.
I don't know if it's posible to downgrade oficial ROM
If Desire were mine, I root it first, and after, do what I need. Rooted smartphones are always better to modify.
Like Hanisa said, look there. It would have helped if you knew your exact build version before.
Every Official HTC Desire RUU ROM has it's own build version and baseband (radio) version.
Go to settings>about phone>software then look for your baseband version (Radio version) (it may have not changed - for example: the original radio from my HTC Desire is linked only to my original RUU ROM). Use that information to find your RUU file, like Hanisa said, here (search using find on page)
Your baseband (radio) version should look something like this: 32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11
If you find you original RUU ROM, keep it on your computer. In case of anything you can just install it and you will have your stock ROM again.
Thank you guys for the quick answer,
Before I start to downgrade my Desire from 2.3 to 2.2, I wondering to give a last chance to Gingerbread and tray to root my Desire... So my question is... is it has possible way to root Desire 2.3 (Gingerbread)?
Yes i think so. But if you root your HTC Desire you will want to try different ROMs, there are many HTC Sense ROMs that are cleaner and faster than your stock ROM. Here is a step by step video tutorial on how to root your HTC Desire.
You won't regret rooting your HTC Desire, just make sure to make a Nandroid Backup (like the videos will show you), and also i suggest you make a Rom Manager backup - you can find the app on Android Market - (it's like Nandroid Backup) only you can move the backed-up files to your computer (this is good if something happens to your SD card and you have to format it for example).

Thank you I3xander,
But i Think that video tutorial is not going to work on my Desire, because of this ***This method only works for users with hboot 0.93 and lower. Sorry 1.06 users, but until unrevoked updates, your stuck on stock htc***
My Desire hboot is 1.02.
If you know some other way how to root Desire 2.3 Official rom please tell me.
Again Thank you for the advice.
I am sorry, if I will find more information about rooting your device with hboot 1.02 I will tell you. The only thing you could try, I think, is Revolutionary. It's in developer preview, but it may work, if you have time read and see if it can help you.
And I have no idea if you tried to install an original stock RUU ROM (2.2 Froyo) like Hanisa told you, it may (i am not sure) change your hboot. (Search here using baseband version (Radio version) to find your stock RUU ROM.
If it works you should be able to root your device with no issues.
My baseband is this:32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23 when I tried to downgrade it said - please use correction version (bootloader fail 140) - cant find the correct one .. can anybody help

Hey guys,
Sorry to be a noob but I'm completely new to the idea of installing custom ROMs so was wondering if someone wouldn't mind explaing what exactly is involved in installing a custom ROM (bruce2728's CM10 ROM) onto a completely stock HTC Sensation?
So far from everything I've read I need to root and S-OFF my phone as well as unlock the bootloader and back up the stock ROM (for warranty purposes) before I'm able to install a new ROM. Am I missing anything here?
So far I've tried to unlock the bootloader but can't even download the software from htcdev.com because the website keeps logging me out as soon as I log in...
Anyway I've read through a few forums and articles on how the whole process works but I'm finding it very confusing because there seems to be multiple ways of doing each part and the files you seem to need vary depending on exactly which version of the Sensation you have.
Anyway if someone wouldn't mind explaining each step or linking me to somewhere that does I would greatly appreciate it
In terms of which model of Sensation I have, HTC have told me that its an open version handset thats been customized in France if that makes any difference. And here's my current software info:
Android version: 4.0.3
HTC Sense Version: 3.6
Software number: 3.33.401.6
Kernel version: 3.0.16-g31a4fc7 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT
Baseband version: 11.76A.3504.00U_11.24A.3504.31_M
Build number: 3.33.401.6 CL391535 release-keys
Browser version: WebKit/534.30
Let me know if I've missed anything

Hi,
There is an huge amount of good information in my sig(☺ A great starting point for all new Sensation owners ☺)
My suggestion would be :
ganesh or kgs for root and s-off
You have 3.33 firmware,so you would then be good to go.
Thanks for the info
So if I follow the steps on this page I will have S-OFF, unlocked the bootloader and rooted my device so all I would have left to do would be to install the actual ROM correct?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661631
And if so what is the best way to go about installing the ROM afterwards?
EDIT: After reading through that page again I realized that there seem to be two completely different tools, you can use. Do you have to use both of them or just one?
i.e. could I just use the 'new one click root tool' on my phone while its completely stock then would I be able to install a new ROM on straight after?

Hi,
I gave you 2 guides for you to choose from.
The one you chose is from ganesh, and if you follow all of that, then, that is all you have to do.
Once you are rooted and s-0ff,then,just place the ROM of your choice on the sd card ,choose it in recovery and run it.
I forgot to mention the custom recovery.
In the list of guides I gave you, look for one by joaquinf.
In that thread you will find 3 methods to install 4EXT recovery.
again choose the best method for you and install it.
then, you will be good to go.

hmm it seems you are getting confused with some terms ..ill try to explain them briefly
ROOT: its a feature of ROM ..when you have root ..you can completely control the ROM ..you can remove even system apps (the apps that came by default) and change internal stuff
SOFF: it unlocks the complete internal partition of sensation ..that means you can modify any thing anywhere ...thus you can install custom roms, custom recoveries, bootloader, radio etc etc
HTC-DEV: its a feature provided by HTC ..which unlocks some partitions which are quite enough for installing custom roms and custom recoveries ..but during custom rom installations you need to do couple of extra steps to get it completely working
now ..by default all partitions of internal memory are locked .. thus to ROOT your phone ..we need to have unlocked system partition ..which can be attained by HTC-DEV unlock or SOFF (so the one click root requires either of them as per-requisite)
now if you want to decide what to do ..do check this post
Ok so I started using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661631
And I got to the point just after where you have to do the wire trick. Now in the cmd screen I just get a message saying "open device manager and check adb and/or fastboot drivers!! Resetting connection....1.....2...." Over and over...
Any ideas as to what I've done wrong? I made sure that the HTC drivers were installed before I started the process
Ahhh crap. After having a look around the forums and on youtube etc as well as trying to install adb through the android SDK and still not having any luck (the ControlBear program ended up freezing aswell) I decided to close the ControlBear program but now whenever I try starting my phone it just loads into a black screen with the menu bar... I hope I haven't completely ruined my phone...
Nevermind, I finally manged to get it S-OFF and rooted
I managed to do a factory reset which enabled me to use my phone properly again so then I restarted the S-OFF process again after rebooting my computer and what do ya know, it works!
Thanks so much guys
Now I just need to work out how to get 4EXT working and then install CM10

For me, coming from Stock 2.3.3 ROM w/ 2.6... firmware:
I had to Root and S-OFF: Simple enough, I used the Revolutionary tool.
Install a recovery program: Once again, simple enough, you can download ClockworkMod Recovery from the Play Store and it will install it.
IMPORTANT: I originally didn't know I had to update Firmware to a newer one. I tried installing the ROM with 2.6.... and it just bootlooped after language selection. Make sure your firmware is adaquate.
Make a backup (if you want)
Then install the ROM and GApps if needed!

Hi,
Try THIS TOOL
Hello all,
This is the first time I write on the forum and I'm another frustrated HTC One S (S3) user.
My phone is the Indian version (CID: HTC__038). It's still on the 4.0.3 version (it hasn't got the OTA update yet) and I cannot find any information related to when the 4.0.4 will be released in this region.
So, if I want to get the 4.0.4 I basically have two options:
- Install a custom ROM
- Install a RUU for other country
For the first point, I looked at the TrickDroid 4.0 but I found another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33374826&postcount=424) where someone says that you only can install this ROM if you phone has the 4.0.4 version as base. Can anyone confirm this?
As for the second point, I found the problem that it's impossible (so far) to change the CID on the S3 model. So, there is no way to install a RUU from another country. Is this right?
Please, I would appreciate if you can help me on this or tell me a different way to upgrade to 4.0.4.
Thanks!
I know i won't be of any help to you, but i'm in the very same situation
My CID is HTC__662 (Hong Kong), and also for this: no RUU, no OTA, no Custom Rom 4.0.4 based...
And DO NOT try to flash TD v4!! U'll get only into bootloop; i think it's a matter of hboot that's different from 4.0.4 and 4.0.3 (for example, if u take a look at mcOneS3 rom u'll see it's a prerequisite).
I've spent more or less 2 days flashing, rebooting, soft-bricking, crying, recovering, crying again...at the end (after a brief test of TrickDroid 3.0.0, the only Rom i got to work but that did not match my needs) i've been happy to succeed in restoring old stock 4.0.3...
As far as i've understood: as long as we have no OTA/RUU, we are screwed.
I was told that it was only made for the T-Mobile version, but I'm pretty sure that's not right.
Same here, my CID is BSTAR301, still running the stock 4.0.3 and havent even found the RUU for that CID.. I don't really want root or flash any rom yet for warranty purposes (and because I'm satisfied by the way it is, so no need to get my hands dirty on it!) thus I'm relying on official updates, but considering the updates are region/CID/carrier dependant it's highly unlikely that I'll get 4.0.4 let alone Jelly Bean/sense 4+ by the end of the year... what a fricking joke!
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
please my htc one s is bricked because i mistakely cleared storage in bootloader with cmw installed now im stock on loop and i cant flash through recovery cos i cant mount .

Just uninstall whichever root app is present on the ROM (Superuser or SuperSU), voila, you're 100% stock.

thankx
thanks for your help but I guess I won't be able to installed ota anymore? though I don't think there be any coming to the phone anymore
Why do you think that? If the phone has an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery (which you'd need to flash a nand) you shouldn't take an OTA anyway. If you want to go completely back to stock you need to get s-off so you can run the last Telstra RUU (1.89 I think), lock your bootloader, and take every OTA to get back up to date.

my mobile data wont work
Hi,
so after weeks and days of suffering and trying to install any rom on my HTC One XL only telestra works, even CM wont boot I get into boot looping...

Hang on...
Firstly, you tried to downgrade the phone to Froyo? This device has never had Froyo on it, the earliest version of Android that it came with was Ice Cream Sandwich. So what on earth did you try to flash to your device??
Secondly, the other thread that you link to isn't for this phone, it's for the HTC Droid Incredible.
Mate, it seems as if you've been attempting to flash firmwares and exploits from other devices onto this phone, it's a wonder you haven't bricked the thing! ROMs, kernels, radios, firmwares, exploits, etc, are only compatible for the device that they were developed for, they're not interchangeable. This is our device section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-x-att
Do not, under any circumstances, wander outside of that section and its sub-forums for anything or it's only a matter of time before you have an expensive paperweight.
Now, what recovery do you have on the phone?
PS. You should edit that image asap, it shows your IMEI, that's something you should never post publicly.
Ty for help and your time first.
I edited photo in paint but you need to edit your post too because picture is still there.
My phone is HTC One XL, xda wont accept this when I enter my device.
Well it's a wonder I didn't throw my phone into the wall.
So everything was fine on this phone until battery started to dry out fast, it's started to lag and everything was slow, clean master, battery doctor didn't help, factory reset few times didn't help.
Then I tried to install CM with this instructions ( I can't link it but when you enter in Google how to install CM on HTC One XL it will pop out wiki ) but my phone wouldn't boot any CM for my phone known as "evita", it would stuck at boot looping.
I have access to recovery. bootloader, fastboot and everything so still it isn't a brick.
I have this recovery img TWRP 2.7.0.8. but if needed I can change it into ClockworkMod 6.0.4.8.
I don't have many experiences in rooting android but I learned some basic commands in cmd with fastboot and adb.

I've edited the image out of my post. Your phone probably boot looped after installing CM because you didn't flash the boot.img via fastboot afterwards, am I right? Because you're s-on and have firmware equal to or higher than 1.14 your phone can't flash the boot.img during a ROM flash in recovery, this means you need to do it manually with fastboot after flashing the ROM. I have detailed instructions in my guide thread (link in my signature).
You need to run an RUU which will take the device back to stock and hopefully clear up the issues you've been facing. In order to run an RUU you first need to get s-off (and SuperCID if you don't already have it). In order to get s-off you need to first flash the Kickdroid 5.0 ROM (Rumrunner s-off has the highest success rate on this ROM).
1. Flash Kickdroid (don't forget to flag the boot.img afterwards too).
2. Go to the Rumrunner site and get s-off.
3. Check your CID:
Code:
fastboot oem readcid
3b. If it's anything other than 11111111 you need to change it:
Code:
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
4. You can now run whatever Evita RUU you want, and leave the device stock for a couple of days to see if your problems persist. What variant is the phone? At&t? Rogers? Telstra? Hong Kong?

I did everything what it's says on rumrunner s-off page before I tried to install CM
well I would link to you what steps I was following but I am junior member so I can't, as I said write in google how to install cm on htc one xl and you will get wiki page and there will be steps which I followed.
How could I install then telestra if I didn't was s-off?
I am very tired now but I will answer to you some basic question you asked.
I am on vodafone variant or in my country (Croatia) it's vip, so when I get some sleep I need to install Kickdroid (well in the morning I guess I would figure out what flag the boot.img mean), and after Kickdroid I can install any RUU I want but need one for vodafone am I right? something like this? RUU_EVITA_UL_ICS_40_S_Vodafone_CH-DE_2.41.166.1_Radio_0.20os.32.09.10_2_10.113.32.28L_release_280222_signed
I found that on this page AndroidRUU, and when I bought my phone it was on German lang.
And if I manage to install Kickdroid and then RUU I will try to give a chance and see if it work normally but if not I can install again Kickdroid and have that rom? And I can install some kernel but for now I don't know what kernel is and I don't understand do I need to install kernel or not? Oh man ty for your time and explanation I need to take some time and to figure all of this and to install properly .
Forget about whatever you did or didn't do in the past, it didn't work and there's no point wondering why right now because I've laid out a plan for you to move forward. Install Kickdroid, get s-off with Rumrunner, and run an RUU. You don't necessarily have to run a Vodafone RUU, you can run any Evita RUU, but yes the one you mentioned is compatible. You absolutely must get s-off before running any RUU though or you will brick the phone. Follow the steps I mentioned before exactly and you should be ok.
Just realised I missed some of your questions. If you want use Kickdroid as your ROM you definitely can, it's a very good ROM. It's a bit hard to describe what a kernel is briefly, but put simply it's a separate level of firmware that controls how the software or OS (and you) interacts with with hardware. You don't need to flash a kernel, every ROM zip contains a kernel already, otherwise the phone wouldn't operate, it wouldn't even boot up. There are custom kernels available that allow a bit of extra tweaking, like overclocking (or underclocking) the CPU, undervolting, sound tweaks, and various other much more complicated tweaks.

Language
Hello how to add the Russian language in the system??? Maybe they cut. If there is a rom with a full range of languages and the last update, I need a rom without mods!
