[Q] Acer Liquid S1

Hi all,
Since there is still no device specific forum for the Acer Liquid S1.
Me and probably many other people who own this budget 5.7" phablet beast consider this phone as a device that certainly deserves his own forum
Until there is a device specific forum I created this thread so every S1 owner can share tips and questions regarding the Acer Liquid S1 (=S510).

Agreed and now looking at the details of new Acer Liquid S2 - I feel it definitely deserves it's own section - especially when I compare the specs to the likes of Ultra and Note III a worthy competitor and would like to see some development and discussion on this model.
ps: added a request to create forum - in the new devices section - hope someone does create one and we can see some new development on this

Thats bad news, this is what is holding me off getting it at the moment. I did find a link when searching for a solution that led here :http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=2798984876&uk=2318828147 (it is in chinese).
Don't know if it works though, been searching for confirmation of the device rooted but with no luck though.

Thats a shame.
The main reason I need to root initially, is to be able to transfer my files from existing phone. Does anyone know if Helium would enable this ?
If this works, then I don't mind going for this phone, and as long as I can transfer my data, I can hold out for root until hopefully more developers get on board.

Helium could be enough yes. What files exactly do you need to transfer?

Mainly my game files, well Subway surfers for definite. My apps I can download again from the play store. Of course some games are now connected via G+ sign in, so they are alright, it is just a shame that this feature isn't compulsory on all apps/games. It would make the transition to a new phone easier.

The camera is just of average
Just bought Acer Liquid S1 a couple of weeks ago. Everything works fine except for the camera. With 8MP camera fitted on it, the quality of the picture is just mediocre. The front camera (2MP) is also disappointing, full of noise when it is used indoors. There's no visible notification when the display is off. Therefore, we need to turn on the display to check whether there's a miscall or incoming email or text message.
Is there any way in which I can have root access for this phablet? I have ODIN software installed in my laptop, and I just need a *.tar file special for this product to root it.

@gbas4nie don't use Odin, it's only for Samsung devices....

Just moved over from Samsung Note to this phone as it's Dual Sim. Brilliant, as I no longer have to carry two phones with me. Works great. and less than half the price of a Note. I miss the stylus, but apparently a dual sim Note may be coming soon!

The file "system510.img" may not work on all Liquid S1 from different country,
I tried to flash it for my Liquid S1 (TWN version), after flash, it can not boot anymore...

Hi that's strange as the app that flashes will check the ROM version and won't flash if your system is not as expected. Did you use the app ?

Application - Story Album

Is there any chance to install Story Album application of S4/ Galaxy Mega to our Note?
I obtained application files by googling, put it to system/app but found not working. Tried also by putting it to app folder in preload and data folders but useless.
Does it require android 4.2.2 ?

Yes.. Bro.. We cannot run these apps on android 4.1.2 : Story album, Travel Service & Widget and Flip Magazine.. These apps are pre-installed on Samsung Stock android 4.2.2 or 4.3 .. Actually these apps are deeply integrated with the Framework (framework-res) , Touchwiz (SecLauncher.apk) and Statusbar (systemui.apk).. And if you try to put these apks of S4 or Mega then they are useless becoz the components required in the framework are missing in Android 4.1.2 and we can't even mod these apps becoz we have to make changes in both... app and framework..and here no one is professional Samsung firmware developer.. So wait for this Good news.. that Samsung is releasing out its Android 4.2.2 or 4.3 for Note ..

hi story album is now available on google playstore by "turtledove studios". u can try it on note.i have personally tried it on my htc. its nice and exact same as the one in s4.

I doubt if this works exactly like the one in S3 or Mega. Pl. the memory - just 1.4 MB (compared to about 40 MB). Also, read the following mail-

u can check the screenshots and the promo video to clear your doubts bro.its exactly same as that of s4 or note 3.

you can try the story album on play store by" turtledove studios" my friend.it works on all platforms from 4.1 to 4.4.2. it doesnt require touchwiz or s4 framework

[ROOT] i9506 - i9506XXUAMI3 - KingoApp

Just to let you all i9506 users to know. I asked from KingoApp Facebook page if their app work with my i9506 and they confirmed it should.
So I tested they latest app (1.1.15.1792) with my phone and it seems to work.

i can also confirm KingoApp root works flawlessly on my s4 i9506, also keeping device status as official, whereas with phils touch cwms or chenglu cwm on device status it says custom. this truly such an easy process

Thanks for sharing this information 1 month ago they told me it isnt supported currently and yes if you only whant root permissions on your device then its the best way thats true.
But for flashing custom roms you will need CWM if you dont want flash custom roms the KingoApp is a good choice man.

Nice to see there is progress regarding root for i9506, but Kingoapp? I've heard rumours regarding spyware and other malicious software installed via Kingoapp. The Sony Z1 threads do have information regarding this matter (at least it was there I read about it). I think XDA have had news posted about this too. vroot and kingoapp ALLEGEDLY steals IMEI and possibly other information from your device when rooted via them.
I want you to show caution with this untill we are proven otherwise. I must add that it's a couple of weeks since I read this, and it might have been fixed or withdrawed. But untill further notice, I will keep away from kingoapp and vroot. But, please do prove me otherwise.

And no major lollipop battery drain
But system ui lag with build prop tricks too

There is not just one way to fix efs/imei for all devices.
You should read a lot before you do anything.
