[Q] connecting 5ghz wifi on cm12 20150209 modem - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is someone able to connect 5g wifi (its not seeing the network)? With kitkat modelm it worked great. Also 2.4 wifi works fine in lollipop.
I read that changing the ccode could fix it in the files /etc/wifi. But i cant find that line in all the files. There is one line in one of the files saying "gAPCntryCode"
Or do i need some other firmware/wlan driver? Im using the cm12 20150209 modem.
The workaround changing the channel on the router works, which means the modem is not using all the channels. But i cannot change every 5ghz router.

[Q] Wifi issues

My wifi is very spotty at best. It always seems to say it connects just fine but it won't let me actually use it. I just went and stood right above my router and had full wifi strength and couldn't browse the internet. Are there any solutions to wifi issues or do I probably just have a bad wifi chip?
There could be a ton of different reasons why you can't connect. There might be a compatibility issue (some devices just don't get along), there might be an issue with security (you aren't using WPA2/AES on your router), there might be a channel issue that can be fixed by trying another channel on the router, the list goes on and on.
What kind of troubleshooting have you done so far? What router do you have?
Running a netgear WNR3500L with WPA2 encryption. All I've done so far is a simple restart of the router.
EDIT: downloaded and used wifi analyzer to see which channels were open and they looked to all be about the same. I switched it to 6 for tests without any improvement. My router auto detects the best channel to be on. Any other advice?

WiFi problem with finding access point

Hi,
I'm a new owner of TF700
I've turned it up and have to say that I was impressed.
Right after that I encountered a problem with WiFi not finding my router (WRT54GL). The router's WiFi works (it is normally found by my PC, HTC One S, iPhone on daily basis). The TF700 finds tons of WiFis in the building except mine.
I also tried to manually add the WiFi and I just get-not in range. I tested if the WiFi works with creating a hotspot on my HTC One S and it worked.
Did anyone encountered such a problem/has a solution?
Thank you!

Hi,
I got the same problem after updating my TF700 to version V10.4.4.20
Is anybody has it resolved?
SSID gone on my Transformer
I have the same problem. Before Cyanogen mod 10 on my Transformer 101, my Netgear VVG2000 WPA2/PSK encrypted wifi ap worked fine, but after mod installation I can't se my SSID. It works fine on my SG2 and I can connect and see other wifi networks. Can it be because the MAC address has changed and the router blocks it or...? I also tried to change encryption mode to no avail. It has happened once before with a laptop and a never NIC software fixed it.
Hmmm...

What channel is the router using? If you are in the US and it is 12+ you may have and issue with it.

[Q] Cant connect to my 5Ghz wifi after update to 5.0.1

Hi
After the upgrade using full zip, I'm not able anymore to detect my 5ghz Wi-Fi. From my other devices everything is fine pinky my tablet is not showing it...
Even choosing the option to show only 5ghz networks I see every network except 5 ghz...
Help?!
Thanks
nobody?
Pretty sure you're not the only one with this problem. Check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tablet/general/5ghz-wireless-detection-lollipop-t2945899

No 5GHz Wi-Fi issue

Hello, my Galaxy S7 doesn't detect any 5GHz WiFi AP's.
Have searched some and see that I'm not the only one and some S6 users also have this issue.
Can anyone who also have this issue report it here with firmware versions. (Dial *#1234# to get the info)
My phone came With build G930FXXU1APB6 and now updated to G930FXXU1APF2, but that didn't fix the problem.
The csc is G930FOJV1APF2
And of course if anyone knows if there is a fix please post .
Is it software or hardware broken or did Samsung make some phones with 2.4GHz WiFi only modules?
is your phone stock? have you tried connecting to other 5ghz network other than your home´s? could be a router issue
1. try doing a factory reset (will lose your data) to see if it fixes the problem
2. consider installing new firmware
Maybe your router is not configured correctly. You can choose that the 5ghz network only supports 802.11b for instance. Check that your settings allows all WiFi.

You need to check your Router settings.
If your router has the same SSID for the 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ bands rename the 5GHZ SSID also if you have an option that says Sync with 2.4GHZ under the 5GZ settings set that to No, if it is not already set to No..
For example if they are both called Router just make the name of the 5GHZ SSID Router-5GHZ, save the changes and wait a couple of minutes.
Turn off the wifi on your phone then back on again (do this in the Settings>WiFi) you should see the 5GHZ router name appear in the list of available devices as well as the normal one, just tap that put in the password and connect
This should work, the usual problem is that the router SSID where the names are the same the phone will connect to the 2,4GHZ as default, not always the case but the general cause of it not connecting to Smartphones.
I use the same name for 2.4 and 5 GHz, the phone automatically connects to the best available network. 5 GHz when I'm close to the router, 2.4 GHz when I leave the range of the 5 Ghz. When I return to the 5 Ghz range it connects to it automatically, but not always, then I have to stop and start the WiFi on the phone again to get on the 5 ghz.

Still no 5GHz Wi-Fi
Hello, I have checked my router and also tried on other 5GHz routers, but still my phone doesn't see any 5GHz channels.
Has anyone tried a firmware for another region?
Am I really the only one on XDA with this problem?
WiFi country code
I have noticed that my 5 GHz does work, but ONLY if the router is manually switched to channel 36 for 5 GHz. My router is WRT 1900AC (4 antennas, bought from US)
I have read that it could have something to do with the wifi country code.
Max link on 5 GHz it is max 200 mbps, which still seems very low, since my non MIMO/single channel crappy laptop wifi also gets 200mbps.
And I heard people getting more then 800mbps ont their S7 phone.
Flashing my phone with an official unbranded firmware from the Netherlands (PHN CSC file), did not fix the WiFi issue.
WiFi Country Code in System file
I have come across this forum in which a user claims a fix, but the phone needs to be rooted.
Does anyone know if this is really the case? My phone is not rooted.
Was there ever a fix here?
My S7 (SM-G930F - BTU, using Oreo build U5ESD2) does not see any of the upper 5 GHz bands. I am trying to connect to a router that is configured to output ONLY on band 149, so there can be no 2.4 GHz "confusion." Changing the configuration to other upper 5 GHz bands doesn't help.

there is something very strange here. other phones work perfectly. can you help me?
under mac address type (in the phone under wifi settings to a specific network) you can choose random mac address as well as phone with mac. what do you choose? same problem with both.
edit: i reset wifi settings. it seems to be working fine now.
the problem has resurfaced. the phone does not connect to wifi even though I reset network settings again. it connects but drops signal immediately.
can anyone help me please?
ok i get issues again. now i connected it to 2.4 ghz. ill return to tell if it got solved or not.
since i started using 2.4 ghz wifi. ive never encountered any connection issues. this samsung a40 phone seems to have issues connecting to 5ghz wifi.
