my new nexus 5 cannot detect 3g. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

what i did :
1. i went to the settings>more>mobile networks>preferred network type > 3g - rebooted my device and this does not help. and then i call *#*#4636#*#* to check my network Type. it says "EDGE"
2. i upgraded my device to lolipop.. that did not help either..
3. downgraded to KitKat4.4.4.. still cannot detect 3g. Network type is EDGE.
4. i checked the APN. it was correct and was saved properly. still it says network type- EDGE. i went to the customer support of my network service provider. they are said they dont know why my device cannot detect 3g.
5. i have tried several factory reset too.. and still the network type is EDGE.
6. tried with different sim cards. still EDGE
7. i googled about this problem and found that it is a problem of EFS corruption. im not sure about this though..some websites saying to flash the modem of this device. i have no idea how to do that.

[Q] Cannot connect to network!

I recently swapped my i9000 for an i9023. I'm unable to connect to the network from my phone though! If I go into mobile network settings and scan for network operators, I can see my operator listed there. When I select it, I get an error stating 'Can't connect to the network, try later.' I've done the following things to troubleshoot this issue:
1. Verified that the IMEI wasn't lost. The IMEI shown in the phone status matches that printed under the battery.
2. Checked in *#*#4636#*#* that the network type is 'GSM only'.
3. Tried the latest update (JZO54K, Baseband I9023XXKI1).
4. Tried with different SIM cards from different operators. None of them seem to be able to register onto their respective networks.
I haven't tried switching radios as I'm not sure which radios can be tried safely on the i9023. Can I try any of the radios in this link? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884
Edit: Tried with all the radios and three different operators. No joy
By the way, I'm in Bangalore, India and my operator is Idea. Uses GSM 900.
TIA!

During my research I find out that is a phone "problem", that is incompatible with some SIM types (but the warranty won't help because the Sim module has no issues). If it's your case, there's nothing to do but sell the phone.
Thanks for the reply MicheleM42. From the looks of it, I think it might be a hardware issue in my case. I will be taking it over to Samsung tomorrow to have it checked. Sigh! Will need to reset it to the factory image now...

Emergency calls only and other related network issues on new android device

I've had this samsung galaxy ace s5830i (my first android) for 4 of the most frustrating months now.
The problem first started with the phone being stuck on EDGE regardless of signal strength. I tried flashing it with new roms but had zero success. I tried manipulating the menu under *#197328640# but that led to a dead end as well. Every time I tried to select WCDMA only, the network bar changes to a "circle and cross" type of thing. I tried to dial *#7465625# to check for network locks but everything reads off i.e. no locks of any kind. Finally, I tried to select a new radio band by dialing *#4636# but that operation crashes a "com.android.phone" everytime.
So in summation, service mode changes don't help and flashing the rom doesn't help.
Recently, I to switched one of the strongest networks available (other than the one I'm on) but the phone is stuck on "emergency calls only" mode. When I try a manual network search and select the network to which the SIM card belongs, I get and error telling me that the SIM card can't register onto the network.
I have used these SIM cards on nokia phones and other samsung galaxy ace devices and have experienced none of the problems listed above, even in remote areas. The support guys of my network say nothing is wrong with my account.
So there you have it. Is there anything left that I can try?

Not automatically registering on network (CM 12.1) (VirginMobile UK)

Hi, I'm on CM 12.1 and my OPO won't register on networks at boot (I'm on Virgin UK). I have to manually go to Mobile Networks > Network Operators and select EE (which is a network Virgin uses). After that everything works fine, I have network and data. But if I connect to WiFi, data will be lost when I disconnect and won't come back unless I manually register to the network again. Also, network will drop much more often since I only use EE and the phone won't automatically connect to other networks. If I go to Mobile Networks > Network Operators > Choose Automatically the phone disconnects from network and I get "Emergency Calls Only".
NOTE: The SIM works in another phone without problem. However, my other SIM works perfectly fine in my OPO.
CONCLUSION: My guess is that the settings for the Virgin SIM failed to download correctly. I had to manually add the Virgin APN to use data (which I usually don't have to).
QUESTIONS: Is there a way to reset the SIM settings stored on the phone without factory resetting? I might be wrong, any other ideas on how to solve my problem?
Thanks, Dan

Lg g4 h810 works 2G only

Hi,
I bought this phone Lg G4 h810, it shows AT&T logo whenever i boot it and the problem is despite of network mode on lte/wcdma/gsm/auto it always runs on2G internet speed and shows E sign.
I am from india and many service providers are still not offering4G internet service. But this phone doesn't even runs on wcdma. My previous phone lenovo was nicely running on wcdma and always showed the sign H.
My cellular operator is idea cellular and i had a word with them, they sent me settings and all and help me input the settings manually too, but nothing worked.
I checked even the frequencies, idea cellular is offering UMTS B1(2100) and UMTS B8(900 gsm). I checked this on LG website and these bands are compatible with the phone i bought, but still i can't get anything more than2G. Why so?
Plus there is one more problem, when i switched it on for the first time it showed update available And when i tried to update, it showed error and now always there's an icon on top left corner of phone saying couldn't install system update. I tried restarting and updating the device many times, but it's still the same.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Have you put your Company APN?
Yes i did, the company executive even helped me to manually save the settings to run the internet in a 3G mode. But all efforts in vain.
Did you solve the issue?
Anything new? I have the same problem.
I have this problem too
Try hidden menu with *#546368#*810# and under Field Test menu / Modem settings if there is VoLTE on/off chose VoLTE and restart. I have done that and my phone starts working with 4G. Don't forget to set up good APN if it's not automatically set by network provider.

Hi
Under VoLTE there is another entry named "Session" and in there
RPR(on/off) switch
I enabled it and restarts but it is again on 2g
Anyone further on this issue??
I have this problem too
I was flash the stock firmware, custom firmware customizing the build.prop, changed the settings in the engineering menu *#546368#*810# disconnected volte, changed LTE bands forcibly. Nothing helps, dont work 3G LTE - 2G only(. I realized that I need to re-flash (change) the original QCN file for H810 and re-register IMEI , but I can not find QCN it freely available.
Hello there, i had the same issue. The fix that worked for me was searching for network manuallly and reconnecting again to my carriers LTE network. Worked as a charm. The issue maybe was a brutal handover as I had been travelli g from a city to another one 200 km away. So somehow I had been disconnected from the LTE network and left stranded in the 2g one. Try it it should work

S10e is losing connection to mobile network

Hello!
I have this s10e from Verizon and it is network unlock (I talked to Verizon to confirm this), well I bought it new and as soon as I turn it on, it started to upgrade to Android 11. All the update went without any issue, anyway when update was completed. I inserted my SIM card and I did not connect to the mobile network. I went to settings and open connections > Mobile networks change from Global to LTE/GSM/UMTS and manual to select the network. Network selected and I got the message "Can't register on the network" , I try again and it connects but after some minutes it lost the signal and got the message "Unable to connect, try later"
I have try several options, all with the same result, it connects for a while then it lost the connection and it won't reconnect until I try it manually...
These is what I have tried (not ordered in the way I tried them)
- Network Reset (including APN reset to default)
- Manually select the network (I go from Global to LTE/GSM/UMTS and backwards)
- Pull out the SIM, turn off the cell, insert SIM turn it on. When phone turns on sometimes it connects immediately to the mobile network but after it completes the initialization, the cell disconects.
- Erase the cache from the Phone app.
- Wipe cache
- Factory reset
I know it is not the phone because I have a Verizon SIM card and when I inserted it, the cell works flawless, actually since I'm out of USA, the cell connects to the same mobile network (on roaming) I'm trying to use with my SIM card. So I was thinking of downgrade to Android 11 but I found some threads where they reported the same issue (with Android 10) but no solution or they pointed to the workarounds I already tried so I don't think it is an Android 11 bug.
Does anyone knows something about this? any workaround?
Thank you!!

Just guessing as your have already tried many things.
Maybe you still have Verizon CSC installed what works fine with the Verizon SIM card, but leads to unstable mobile connection with another SIM card.
To check, download unbranded firmware for your region and flash it with Odin on PC via USB cable to your phone.
Use the CSC file ... Not the Home_CSC. This will wipe your data.
How this will help.
