[Q] Rooting Xperia E3 D2203 (4.4.4) - Sony Xperia E3

Hello everyone... I recently updated my phone to 4.4.4 via flashtool. It's obvious that it's unrooted now as it's on stock kernel. Is there any chance that anyone is going to make a custom kernel to root D2203 variant with 4.4.4 installed?? Plz let me know asap. Badly need root. Storage issues. Gotta need Link2SD for moving apps and removing bloatware for storage restoration. And it's a root demanding app as you know. Thanks.

Does this:
install "MiniTool Partition Wizard Free" then creates two partitions.
VERY IMPORTANT, defines the 2 partitions as PRIMARY.

Are you sure that your system is prepared to mount system as r/w?
Are you using the Universal init.d to achieve the full root?

Ya I using universal init.d. For now I have dropped the idea of creating partitions. There is no cwm kernel in my system. Maybe Root isn't working properly. I'll wait till someone develops a kernel for D2203 (4.4.4). that way root will work normally. Till then I'm just using it to convert some of the system apps to user apps and moving them to sd card. things are going fine for now. Got 1.4 gb free in internal. So let's wait and see if someone finally releases the cwm recovery for my model. Thanks btw.

I have 4.4.4 on D2203 with full root and without cwm. I have the "Link2SD Plus" working perfectly without any requirement of cmw!
My D2203 has the boot loader unlocked, does not have any cwm recovery installed, and only use the "Universal init.d" to run the "SYSTEM MOUNT FIX" so you can use without restriction "Link2SD Plus!
If you are not able to create links to the second Partition is because you are doing something wrong!

Ya you're right. I am probably doing something wrong. could you guide me thru the process which u applied for gaining system -rw ?? becoz I followed this guide
Fixing ability to mount system as r/w for D2203,D2206,D2243 (LTE)
THIS IS REQUIRED TO INSTALL XPOSED OR LINK2SD OR OTHER APPS WHICH WRITE ON SYSTEM
UPDATED
important - goto settings=>about phone tap on build number until it say,s no need, you are already a devloper. Then go back and open developer options and enable usb debugging
Step 0 - install BusyBox installer and Universal Init.d
Step 1 - Download this SYSTEM MOUNT FIX.zip and extract and run runme.bat
Step 2 - Now Open Universal Init.d Change Switch From Off to On
Step 3 - Now reboot and install busybox. (if busybox install it mean success and if it fail then ask me about it)
Now you can mount system as rw!!!
And according to it, I did everything written in it. Did i do some step wrong?
What all do you do in Universal Init.d? Because I only turned the switch on after runnnig the batch command in the computer from the post of vinay.. the developer. So if you could plz guide me thru the steps which you took after installing 4.4.4 and Superuser. Coz I'm also using Link2sd plus . I suppose that size of the SD card doesn't matter right? Because I'm making partition of 1 gb out of a 2 gb SD card.

4 Click on SELECT KERNEL TO FLASH KERNEL CHOOSER WINDOW will open now click on *.sin and change it to *.img Now Select BOOT_D2203_4.4.2.img(Click Here To Download BOOT_D2203_4.4.2.img) and select open KERNEL WILL BE FLASHED

After all this, we only have half "root"!
Now we get the full root!
IMPORTANT- goto settings=>about phone tap on build number until it say,s no need, you are already a devloper. Then go back and open developer options and enable usb debugging
Step 1 install Universal Init.d
Run the Universal init.d (it is normal for error!)
Step 2 - Download this SYSTEM MOUNT FIX.zip and extract and run runme.bat
VERY IMPORTANTE! RUN MULTIPLE TIMES THE "RUN ME" TO STOP APPEARING ERROR MESSAGE! (I RUN 3 TIMES!)
See the attached image
Step 3 - Now reboot and install busybox. (if busybox install it mean success and if it fail then ask me about it)
If you followed all the steps correctly should appear in the list of scripts "Universal init.d" something called "NS".
Good luck and excuse my English.

(during this process your phone may reboot several times.)
THEN AFTER SOME TIME YOU WILL SEE THAT YOUR PHONES SCREEN HAS LIT UP.
IT WILL ASK YOU TO ENTER ENCRYPTION PASSWORD AND THEN FULL RESTORE YOUR PHONE.
IF YOU HAVEN'T SET UP ANY ENCRYPTION PASSWORD THEN JUST SELECT FULL RESTORE.

Emulator is a hardware or software used for duplication of behavior of main system to host system.
In short your pc is main system here and device is emulated system.
I think you should than turn on usb debugging and set device as media storage and try.
IF YOU ARE STILL UNABLE TO ROOT THEN TELL ME AND I HAVE ANOTHER METHOD FOR YOU. cheers.

YOUR PROBLEM IS SIMPLY THIS THAT PRE- LOADER DRIVERS FOR YOUR PHONE ARE NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED IN YOUR PC. That's why sp flash tools is unable to connect to your phone and flash recovery.and so there is no progress.
TO INSTALL PROPER DRIVERS GO TO THIS THREAD.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2370906
And i know that the method i suggested is to root jellybean but it works fine on ics also ( but you cannot root jellybean via ics method)
**After installing proper drivers try again the above mentioned method and it should work.
And regarding that message... it will always come because all the images required to flash a new firmware are not properly loaded.
Ignore it because you are after all not flashing a whole new firmware but simply recovery in your phone.
Best if luck.

And regarding that message... it will always come because all the images required to flash a new firmware are not properly loaded.
Ignore it because you are after all not flashing a whole new firmware but simply recovery in your phone.
Best if luck.

I have already been into that link since even I thought that I'm having driver issues but my device is included under adb in device manager and when I tried to update the drivers, it said that the best drivers are already installed.
I'm lost in a limbo, don't know what to do.

Ok My last suggestion.
Remove all the connected device(dongles, bluetooth device) from your comp except your mobile with Usb debugging on.
restart your comp.
now place it in C drive(just for caution) or if it was on C drive move it to another drive.
Now try to root if it doesn't root.
Try frameroot.

Another suggestion if the above method does not work.
Try with a different port or with different cable.

[SOLVED] CWM + Cyanogenmod 10 installation help - Did I forgot anything ?

Hey XDA ! =D
I'm still interested in installing Cyanogenmod 10 on my LG Optimus One P500h, but I want to make sure I follow the steps properly first - this is my first time installing a custom ROM, and when I heard it was possible to install Android 4.0 on the P500h, I performed a backup from ROM Manager, and I "bricked" my device a few days ago. XD
I wouldn't want this to happen again, but at least, I must say I have more experience now, and learned a lesson.
Did many searches on how to install CWM with Cyanogenmod 10, I found many different ways to do it, and I'm still unsure of which procedure follow.
Read the FAQ and that was really helpful.
I will list the procedure that I would normally try - please correct me if I forget anything:
0. Root the device
Done that already. I'm on Android 2.3. When I flashed the KDZ on my LG (and so to my surprise, got me updated from 2.2 to 2.3.3) , I've used V20A_00.KDZ, so I *assume* this is the second baseband.
1. Compact/Trim Cyanogenmod ROM
Downloaded CM10 here. This look correct: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1811325
January 8: Build 7/Final
I chose C10 over C11 because more things are compatible I believe - was it Bluetooth that did not worked under C11, but does on C10 ?
Anyways, that solve a known problem: many users said they loose network after the ROM installation. Shinobisoft confirmed it was because of the lack of space on the System partition, right ? Compacting the ROM would also fix problems for installing Link2SD ?
I've downloaded the tool "OOne ROM Editor" and opened it - it doesn't look complicated at all. What apps are safe to delete ? Will converting them to "user app" save space for system apps (I'm not sure - Where are the apps stored when defined as "User"? SD card rather than /System ?) ? Can I delete fonts without problems (I don't see why I can't keep ONLY 3-4 fonts, not 10) ? Then how much space will be left on the device ?
Read I cannot delete LatinIME.apk. Is this the default keyboard? 20MB is huge, there's no way to compact this file, right ?
Assuming there's like 10MB free, network will work, but I will have no choice but to use Link2SD to install apps fully on SD card, is this correct ?
2. Baseband stuff
Ehm, what are we referring to as "baseband" in first place?
All ROMs starting with CM7 are new baseband. If your device had Android 2.2 prior to flashing, you are on old-baseband. There is a patch for that also in the LG Optimus One FAQ on the first page, not sure which post off the top of my head tho. If your device had Android 2.3 on it then you have a new baseband device which shouldn't require any patches.

Allright, this should make this a lot easier - as I said, I originally was on Android 2.2, when I bricked the phone, I flashed "V20A_00" throught KDZ Updated, then I rebooted as 2.3.3, so I shouldn't do anything, right ?
In "About Phone", it's listed "Software Version: LG-P500h-v20a".
3. Install ClockworkMod Recovery
This look like the tricky part.
A lot of people on other sites said to use ROM Manager...
shinobisoft said:
First, serious word of advice. Stay away from ROM Manager. It does not handle this device correctly.
Click to collapse
ROM Manager's way of flashing recovery is broken by design. Do NOT use it unless you are comfortable with rescuing your phone via ADB/fastboot like many people before.
Click to collapse
Yes, ROM Manager is completely broken in this regard. It needs to download a signed ZIP and discard it and report an error when verification fails. Heck, ZIP format has even its own CRC check. What ROM Manager is doing (download whatever .IMG and flash it no matter what) is a nice WTF! Broken by design, go rewrite from scratch!
Click to collapse
I don't trust the use of ROM Manager anymore on my device, and I'm not comfortable with using it again. I actually wonder: When I press VolumeUp-Home-Power, the phone perform a factory reset (Many people asked already why. This apparently mean that CWM is not installed).
But is it really installed? ROM Manager actually says: "Actual Recovery: ClockworkMod Recover 5.0.2.0". What? Am I supposed to press VolumeUp-Home-Power to verify, only to do another factory reset?
So what would the non-ROM-Manager method be ? I found this one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146566
I know about the Android Terminal Emulator already, and as a Linux user on PC, the commands "su", "cat", "chmod", "mount" are not unknow to me. I should be able to do this... That's not risky ?
So when CWM will be installed, I should be able to boot in it using "VolumeUp-Home-Power"; in theory, this is a bootloader, so if the ROM get screwed up, I *should* be able to access the bootloader to restore the ROM (I compare this to a PC BIOS - the OS is screwed, but BIOS remain accesible) ?
How could I explain that when I bricked my device with ROM Manager, I couldn't perform a factory reset, and only had access to Emergency Mode (I assume there is not such thing as a "Recovery Mode" on a P500h stock, new/untouched. The equivalent immediatly perform a factory reset) ?
All Android devices have a recovery partition. This is essentially a section of the device’s memory devoted to a very basic recovery system that is separate from the normal operating system. This is normally used by manufacturers for recovering a broken device (as even if the operating system crashes, the recovery image has a chance of still being access and used to reflash the operating system, etc.).
Click to collapse
By default, the LG P500h recovery partition perform an immediate factory reset - CWM will be installed here, so I should be able to access it if the ROM freak out. But why couldn't I access the factory reset, when I bricked the device? That's what I wonder.
4. Access CWM and do a Nandroid Backup to SD Card
I will now have the files boot, cache, data, recovery and system, as well as"nandroid.md5" on SD card.
5. Wipe everything, clean SD Card
Perform "Wipe data/factory reset". This will format the /data, /cache, /sdext, and .android_secure
Select the "Advanced" option and on the next screen select "Wipe Dalvik Cache". Confirm the wipe.
Not necessary but I do it anyway, in the "Advanced" screen select "Wipe battery stats" and the confirm that wipe
For a clean installation I recommend formatting the system partition too. From CWM home screen select "mounts and storage". On the next screen select "format /system" and then confirm the format.
Press the back button until you are back in the CWM home screen. Select "Install zip from sdcard" and then select "Choose zip from sdcard". Browse your sdcard for the ROM to install and select it. Confirm the installation. Now wait for the install to finish.
Go back to CWM's home screen. Select "reboot system now" option and let the device boot. The initial boot will take a couple of minutes. Don't panic.

6. Partition SD card (?)
Is this at that point that I should do it, in CWM ? Or wait until I access Cyanogenmod and use a software on PC to partition ?
Assuming I don't partition, I guess I definitely will lack space for applications (Due to the space of Android 4.0) ?
I will do "Partition SD Card>EXT4 1024MB>Swap:64MB. Is this correct?
7. Install Cyanogenmod
Install ZIP from SD Card, choose the CM ZIP;
8. Install Google Apps
Once the install is done, I won't reboot and immediately install Google Apps, with "Install ZIP from SD card". I chose this package (Working on JellyBean):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1917411
Then I should reboot in CyanogenMod and finally install Link2SD, I believe.
***
..Did I forgot anything ?
I *believe* that makes sense, but this is my first time installing a ROM - I doesn't look *that* hard, I did researches, but things can go wrong... :/
What should I do if I screw things up? Use KDZ Updater again ?
I'm still a little worried about that baseband thing, and the lost network connection.
Thanks for the input, cheers!

# chmod 755 /system/xbin/flash_image
# flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
# mount -o remount ro /system
# reboot recovery
Since I have no Nandroid backup (I cannot do it until CWM is installed), what could I do if something goes wrong ?
2-3) Excellent, thank you.
4) I plan on partitionning, but at which point shoud I preferably do it?
Thank you, I appreciate the help - sorry for all the newbie questions.

Ok, so I've downloaded ClockworkMod_5.0.2.0_Recovery_ThunderG_Official here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523050
Extracted the ZIP and put the file recovery.img at the root of the SD Card (USB storage); so now all I have to do would be to start FlashImage GUI, select "Recovery Image", browse and choose the file recovery.img, then flash (I won't select Clear Dalvik & Clear Cache unless I have to (It's not selected by default, so I assume it's not require - although I've backed up my stuff already).
It's that simple?
I'm still in a learning stage, I bricked the device once with ROM Manager, so if that work, I should be more confident for the rest (I will take a Nandroid backup). Thanks for all the great explanations - Will press the thanks button soon

Allright, I got it!
I saw the success message, then used the keys to reboot in recovery, that worked!
At the boot, I can read "ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0 E: Bad boot message "recovery ".
I believe the "E: Bad boot message "recovery " is a known issue, and but is not a problem - please let me know if I have to do anything about this.
So now I will compact the Cyanogenmod ROM (I don't know how much space I should free, but I'll try to free a decent ammount), and perform a Nandroid backup to SD card.
I believe the hardest/scariest is done. From now, if the ROM install fail, I could just restore the backup, I guess.
Are they any case when CWM is unaccessible (When I bricked my device, I had no access to stock recovery (which only perform factory reset) but just Emergency Mode. Why was that?) ?
Thank you, I will let you know about the rest.

I appreciate the information;
It's quite akwards that ROM Manager broke everything (And I asked for a BACKUP - that's so broken, it brick the device when you want to BACKUP <__<) - when it rebooted, it was in Fastboot mode, and I never saw that mode before. Tried a few recommended commands without problems, but when I rebooted, I only had access to Emergency Mode.
What would be informative for me to know, is that ROM Manager seems to not only have screwed the ROM, but the stock bootloader as well. Weird.
Shinobisoft said we need to compact the CM10 ROM with his utility first, because the System partition is too small (Otherwise, I will have no network). I will do that, I have the tool, that doesn't look complicated.
From now, I am backing up my SD Card content (DATA is backed up too) with Nandroid present on SD, so I could start formatting, immediately followed by SD partitioning.
I guess I should be fine at that point - if anything goes wrong, I should have the option to restore the Nandroid backup.
Will let you know when I'll have the ROM compacted (Probably today).
EDIT: YAY !
Everything worked as we expected! I saved my SD Card on my computer, wiped it, partition it from CWM (EXT: 1024MB, SWAP: 64MB. I have a 16 Micro SD, class 4 (Can't afford higher class much, for now), then installed the compacted ROM. Immediately after, I installed Gapps, then rebooted.
That worked !! This ROM is DOPE ! Totally worth upgrading ! Blazing fast !! (Will be slower with apps installed, but well)
I also have a working network!
There is one thing that "failed", I cannot get Link2SD to work. It always says "cannot create mount script". I checked with Windows (I know by experience that I should absolutely not edit Unix partitions in Windows, I just check), and the FAT32 partition is the first, then I have a EXT4 partition, then the Linux-Swap, I don't know why it doesn't work.
I used Gparted to format the EXT4 partition to EXT2, but same problem, "cannot create mount script". What am I supposed to do ?
Thanks youuu !! =D
I'm really happy to have done this on my own, with help - I now have more experience with Android, I have experience with Windows, Linux OS and OS X, but never did I tried flashing a ROM yet.

That's what I've thought, according to "Storage Analyzer", /sysem has as minimum free space of 84KB (!) and a maximum of 4.63 MB.
Did not experience any weird stuff, for now.

Yes, that's right. You can check /system space by using Root Explorer. Or go to
Settings>About phone>Partition info.
I got 10+MB space left on /system partiton after trimmed the ROM and installed mini gapps.
You're right, Link2SD only works if there is 3MB, at least, left in system partition.

Once you have success with link2sd creating mount scripts, you can access at /data/sdext. Been a long time since I ran Jan 8 cm-10, but I seem to recall that partition info is not in settings/about phone. But link2sd will have it. Or there are other apps. When viewing storage info from settings menu, don't confuse internal memory with /system (190mb). Internal that is shown there is/data (200mb).

A bit new to installing a recovery and custom ROM on this LG Optimus One (very familiar with Sony phones though), apologies for the newbie-ness. I have all of the files as per this thread, but how do I install the GUI app without a file manager app?

Install some file manager from play store. In phone settings (not file manager) choose security. Then choose to allow installation from unknown sources. Then open your file manager, scroll to sdcard/downloads/ ,and click on flashimage GUI.apk. Installation process will start.

I guess I was thinking too much (or not at all!) Simplicity is the key a lot of times!
I tried all of the points in this thread and now this Optimus One has root, recovery and a new ROM. Thanks everyone! :good:

Steps for flashing a .img file to a specific partition ( here, recovery ) :
Here are the two methods :
1st Method ( Using ADB ) -- This needs the phone to be connected to the computer.
Go to the folder containing the recovery.img file you just downloaded.
Shift + Right Click on any empty space in the folder and Select Open Command Window Here
Connect the phone to the computer and make sure you have USB Debugging enabled and not USB Storage
Type these into the Command Window :
adb devices -- This should show the Device attached as KarbonnTitaniumS5Plus-xxxx or any such line.
adb get-state -- This is to ensure USB Debugging works. It will show device, recovery or offline, but here, we would be looking for device
adb reboot bootloader -- This reboots the device into Fastboot mode, also called as HBOOT or Bootloader. This mode is necessary for flashing the recovery.img file
fastboot oem unlock -- This is to ensure that you can flash xxxx.img files to specific partitions of the device.
fastboot flash <<partitionname>> <<nameofrecoveryimagefile.img>> -- This flashes the specific partition image file to the specified partition. Here, we would be looking for something like fastboot flash recovery philzrecoverys5plus.img for the PhilZ Touch Recovery and fastboot flash recovery twrprecovery.img for the TWRP Recovery and fastboot flash recovery cwmrecoverys5plus.img for the.... Well, you understand what I mean. This should show some text on the device like Transferring Flash or Writing Flash and the Time and Speed of it, that would confirm your flashing.
fastboot reboot -- This command reboots the device into the normal system, and lo, you're ready to go !
Click to collapse
From here, you can reboot to recovery and back again without any issues. This is the tried and tested method, the method which worked perfectly when I tried it on my device. Else, if you have no patience for connecting the Phone to the PC, jabbing on the keyboard and entering n number of commands, you could try this out :
2nd Method ( Using Terminal Emulator ) -- This doesn't need the phone to be connected to the computer.
Place the recovery.img file in the Internal Storage or External SD Card -- Here, I'm placing it as in storage/sdcard0/xxxxrecovery.img
Install Terminal Emulator or any such app onto the phone and Open it.
Type these commands one by one :
su -- This gives root permissions to the Command Executor.
flash_image recovery /storage/sdcard0/xxxxrecovery.img -- This flashes the recovery image file to the recovery partition.
Close the Terminal Window.
Done !

Another Note : If you're following the Second ( Terminal Emulator ) Method, note that there is a space between flash_image and recovery and the path of the image file. The first method is the preferred one, which worked perfectly with no errors for me; while the second method is risky and might return some errors while trying it out.

Another Loooooong Shortened Note : The TWRP Recovery might, in some rare cases, show your battery level as 19% when it is at 99% and the same goes for the others. If you are encountering this error damn frequently, I'd recommend reverting back to the original CWM basic recovery as it doesn't show any battery info at all ! You also have the option of wiping your Battery Statistics in case the Battery Error in the Touch Recoveries made the system too show the same error. Once, after fully charging the phone to 100% and rebooting to recovery, I found that the TWRP recovery showed the battery level at 19% ! Out of curiosity, I rebooted back to the system and it too, showed it at 19% ! I just plugged it into the charger and was like Whoa !, as the battery sprang from 19% to 24% in 7 seconds flat ! I know that neither the reboot to recovery does drain out that much battery, nor does the recovery randomly perform such miracles on it. So, I just flashed CWM basic recovery to it using fastboot mode, opened it, did a Battery Stats wipe and rebooted to the System. It was back to 99% ! So, a full Battery Statistics wipe helped me solve such errors, and might do the same to you too. Just remove the battery from the phone after you power off from the recovery, put it back in, and let the phone start up. Problem Solved ! Damn, why didn't I think of this earlier ?

Yet Another Short-But-Not-So-Short Note : I'd recommend disabling the Boot Animation on the phone ( using ROM Toolbox Lite or Pro ) so that the possibility of bootloops is diminished. No Boot Animation = Less Chance of Bootloops !

One Last Note : ( Yeah, Right. )
The MIUI ROM and the Sony Xperia v2 ROM work properly. For people who have boot issues, doing a full data wipe/factory reset through the recovery will solve that problem... MIUI is pre rooted, but chainfire's SuperSU app is not installed and there is no keyboard app. The Sony Xperia v2 ROM has SuperSU installed and works properly. However, a high amount of patience is needed to wait for the ROMs to boot up...
As mentioned by cybercrawler, the internal/external swap supposedly works, and appears to be already applied in these ROMs... so, if you are going to flash a new ROM, you had better undo this change...
The clockworkmod recovery file works too, as seen in the screenshots uploaded by cybercrawler... thanks to him for testing that out.
I shall be uploading some screenshots of these in a few days. Both the ROMs run Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2, and the MIUI ROM has a update scheduler app, so I'm guessing it can be updated to 4.4 Kitkat. Anyway... if anybody knows how to bypass Dropbox Error 509 ( This account's public links are generating too much traffic and are temporarily disabled ), please download the Xperia Z v1 ROM and upload it to Google Drive...
Check this thread for further development on this device.
If anybody is willing to volunteer to try a ROM still in development for this device, you can download it here :
https://tr.im/CarbonForKarbonnv1
It is NOT READY FOR FLASHING, but is a Kitkat ROM, so anybody willing to put in their efforts in the development of this ROM can help.

Yes and No.
No, as it isn't included in the device's features and comes with no otg cable.
Yes, if you buy a third party USB OTG cable and install chainfire's stickmount app.

Still working on the Carbon ROM... May take a few more days to create a working, booting ROM !!!
( Creating a new update binary file now, old one wasn't working. )
Anyway, after this and the flashable stock rom zip file, i'll be porting miui 6 to this device !
After that, maybe, I was thinking of an Android L ROM for this device...
Anyway, Back to Project CarbonForKarbonn for now...
Could anyone upload the specifications of moto g (codename falcon) in a post here ?
I need to know it's features and some information abt. it, like whether it supports dual sim, has external sd card support, etc.
so that I could rectify any problems which are occuring because of such non-compatibility errors.
Looooooong schedule... this might take forever...

You need to have ADB and Fastboot tools and the recovery file in the same folder.
Connect the device to the computer, open USB Debugging in Android, open a command window in the folder with adb and twrprecovery.img image ( Shift + Right Click ), and type these commands in it :
adb root -- Don't worry if this shows any error like adbd cannot run as root in production builds. Just proceed with the next step.
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery twrprecovery.img -- This will automatically format that partition and install the recovery image to it.
fastboot reboot
adb reboot recovery
Done !
Anyway... Building the final parts of the Carbon Nightly ROM, also simultaneously working on MIUI 6 for this device.
Stock ROM build is happening... Just have to generate the updater-script and the update binary.
Status of Each Build :
Carbon ROM : Needs a new Update Binary, creating it, coding it.
TWRP Recovery : Done !
MIUI 6 : Downloading the latest release version. Porting and Update Binary and Updater Script pending.
Stock Flashable Zip : Creating all Update files from scratch, system folder is ready, deodexing pending, App updates pending.
Xperia v3 : Boot Animation Build Progressing, Updating all stock Google apps, Adding Xposed Framework, etc.
Android L ROM : Waiting for a Stable Android L ROM to be released here, still no progress.
Here are the basic mount points of this device which I accidentally discovered while messing about in the Stock ROM :
system : [email protected] : dev/block/mmcblk0p8 -- This is for the System folder, has ext4 partition type
data : [email protected] : dev/block/mmcblk0p10 -- This is for the Data folder, has ext4 partition type
cache : [email protected] : dev/block/mmcblk0p9 -- This is for the Cache folder, has ext4 partition type
Hope it helps !
Which do you think is better : External SD Card as Main Storage or Internal SD Card as Main Storage ?
Anybody can reply by posting here.
This question is for the Carbon ROM and the Stock Flashable Zip ROM.
I felt I should ask you this question as I felt that Internal SD Card has way too less storage for me, but my decision cannot be everybody's decision, can it ?. ( I have 180+ Apps on this device, all linked to SD Card ( 32 gb, ~1.5 gb free space remaining ) ).

Is there any way to change the on-screen soft keys to look them like that of Nexus 5 lollipop soft keys. They look really cool and other thing is the transparency of the on screen buttons. It would be great if you made this above mod in the new ROM

Yeah, I'm working on that. You know that camera you have in other Xperia devices with all that Timescape feature and everything ? I'm adding that to the updated version of this ROM. But, the ROM will still be based on Android Jellybean 4.2.2. I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do about that because, if I change the base OS, I'll have to rebuild all the apps from scratch to fit alongside the new permissions and all that stuff, which will take off most of my time.
I'll consider your decision about the Main Storage, but there's one drawback about using it that way. You won't be able to remove your SD Card or unmount it while the OS is on. If that's okay with you, please reply. Anyway, if you want to change it afterwards, you can do so by the vold.fstab edit which cybercrawler had mentioned here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55154053&postcount=31
Thanks for your opinion, by the way !
