[TWRP/CWM/PhilZ]Recovery Collection for Z2 Tablet - Xperia Z2 Tablet Original Android Development

After some people and me discovered that there is no real collection for the most up-to-date recoveryimages, for Cyanogenmod based Roms i decided to create this thread in order to change this.

Thanks @rcstar6696! These threads are what we need more, up-to-date and clear I'll try these asap..

anyone able to get this TWRP to work with CM12? I have flashed it successfully in fastboot and it allows me to boot the latest official cm12 3/11 and it boots fine. I cant boot into TWRP. When i use advanced reboot from within CM12 to boot to recovery, it boots to the cyanogenmod recovery and not Twrp.
Edit: I just tried to reboot to recovery using volume up on power up and got into TWRP. Seems that the advanced reboot feature in CM wont allow me to boot to twrp, you have to do it manually.

I will test it later this weekend philz touch works without problems

Is some (or many of these) recovery compatible with cm updater? Unable to test it just yet, but soon..

Not sure. I'll mess around this afternoon. I'm a little confused how I have access to two recoveries

cwm is compatible with the cm updater
The others are not tested with the updater

I was finally able to unlock the bootloader and throw some custom stuff on my tab but... It didn't kinda go the way I thought first As a sonynoob I wanted to just install cm first with the instructions from their wiki, well the cm recovery I first installed sucked really bad. I have no idea what the others have done to get adb push (or sideload) working with it but I obviously had a device with cm boot.img and nothing on my internal storage due to unlocking process. And that got damn recovery didn't have option to mount usb-otg nor my fastboot on PC didn't recognize any adb devices, sideload did nothing. I reinstalled all drivers multiple times, still nothing. Then I flashed TWRP from this thread and vòla, everything worked. So I'm very grateful from these recovery images right here! TWRP seems to be very functional, haven't tried cm updates yet tho... :good:

I just tried to boot TWRP recovery from advanced boot menu and it actually worked. Only different most likely is that I installed twrp before I had flashed cm. So if you can't get it to work otherwise you can always try to fastboot erase the whole device and start from scratch by installing first twrp.

Instruction to flash is in op.
You need to set up your PC with adb and fasboot. (Google)
Put your tab in bootloader mode. Power on and vol down. Blue led indicates you are in bootloader mode.
Use said fast boot command as stated in op to flash the recovery you want.
Use recovery to flash your previously downloaded CyanogenMod build.

What does the fastboot say then? No device found or sth like that? If so, try these drivers http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635830
Should work after you have installed those.. I had problems with win8 too because PC didn't recognize any fastboot devices. Btw you can always try and see if the device is recognized by "fastboot devices" command.

Interesting. Was twrp still there after the nightly flash? Or did it get overwritten with the cm recovery?

It didn't get overwritten. After I had updated one nighlty using cm updater I even did one clean flash (due to random wakelocks I got) and twrp booted from advanced boot menu correctly. Shouldn't this be normal behaviour? It's kinda weird tho to have one recovery on the FOTA partition and other integrated to boot partition, clearly twrp overcomes somehow the cm recovery that is on the boot..

will this work with the latest lollipop stock?

[Q] HELP! I completely wiped my OnePlus One

I screwed up and COMPLETELY wiped my 1+1 using TWRP and that's all that's left on the device.
What happened is that I was having a hard time installing the 30O update after unlock/recovery/root, so I decided to just wipe out the phone and start over. Due to my inexperience with TWRP, I completely wiped out EVERYTHING. All I can do is boot into recovery mode with TWRP.
Can anyone help me flash the stock image back on the phone? I would be eternally grateful...

This, or you can use adb to push whatever ROM you want to use to your device alternatively you can use this tool kit if you aren't familiar with adb commands. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2807418
Go with what @omvir suggested, it's a more fitting solution to your problem. Adb push a ROM zip and flash it. Go to my index thread on my signature, you'll find all custom ROMs plus TWRP flashable versions of CM11S.

I'll try that in a minute. In the meantime, I was able to adb push cm-11.0-XNPH33R-bacon-signed-fastboot.zip that I downloaded from Cyanogemnod, but TWRP simply says install failed.
Off to look at the new info. Thanks a bunch guys - I'll keep you updated.
Also keep in mind that I have NOTHING left - OS-wise - on my phone, only TWRP. Do the instructions cover that? I looked over them and it seems like that's what I did without it working. As far as the OnePlus One Toolkit - I have that already but would it work on a totally wiped phone?

That's because that's a fastboot image, it isn't TWRP flashable.

timmaah: I'm sorry to bug you again, but I'm not having any luck. I tried everything in the first post, running the flash.bat file. It works great until it tries to execute "fastboot -w cm-11.0..." and I get an error message that says "error update package missing system.img" - even though the zip file clearly shows it's there.
As far as you asking me to find TWRP images: I'm out of luck there too. All I can find are .zip files. Can you please, please, please help me out finding them?

Recovery flashable versions are meant to be zip files, just like any other ROM. Just download it, push it to your phone, and use the install menu in TWRP to install it. Simple as that.
Transmitted via Bacon
I got it!!!!!!!
While waiting for your reply, I simply extracted the contents of the zip file, and then manually updated via fastboot:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot reboot
I'm back up and running! Thanks everyone - I can't believe I managed to do that. Talk about a close call. Lesson learned: Don't push buttons when you don't know what they do!
One thing I was hoping someone could tell me is why the fastboot command failed when pointing at the zip file. Just curious...
Which fastboot command?

Hi, I stumbled upon your thread. I happen to be in the exact same situation as you: I formatted my oneplus and have nothing on it but TWRP installed (yep stupid I know, don't push buttons if you don't know what they do). So if I got this correctly: I download the XNPH33R flashable zip, copy it to my phone (or do I need to do it through Android SDK, I already have XDA's toolkit from the rooting btw if that should help me - sorry I'm a noob I know), run recovery mode (volume down+power button) and just install it with TWRP? All the help would be much appreciated.

I'm guessing it's a fastboot zip not an actual flashable zip. If it is then no you have to fastboot flash it to the phone. Where ever you got the zip there must have been instructions.

If that's the 1 then yes it's a fastboot image. Most stock cm11s roms out there are flashed via fastboot. You can get a custom rom or stock rooted custom cm11s and adb push via custom recovery or USB otg It over to the phone

Hi, firstly tnx for the prompt reply. I'm sorry, this is the first time I'm owning an Android phone and am completely new to this. So in this link there are two versions provided - fastboot and flashable : http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/cm11s-official-untouched-image-t2857110-
On the previous page the answer was: "Recovery flashable versions are meant to be zip files, just like any other ROM. Just download it, push it to your phone, and use the install menu in TWRP to install it. Simple as that." Although black_rifle did it through fastboot. So my question is, can I do it easily copy to mobile->run recovery->install with TWRP or do I have to do it through fastboot? Plus, my bootloader is locked again so do I have to do unlock it first or does CM do that? Thank you very much for your help.

Hi, OK thanks I'll try it today and let you guys know how it went. And this is the answer they sent me from OnePlus, I hope it helps anybody else that's having or will have the same problems as I:
"Here’s the flashing instruction for Windows users:
You'll need to download and install the ADB driver on your computer (i.e., the Google Android SDK driver). /unfortunately the forum doesn't yet let me paste external links that they sent me/
1. Make sure your phone is connected to your computer
2. Backup your files as flashing will erase all data from your phone (your phone should show up as a drive on your comptuer)
3. Download the fastboot file to your computer from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/cm11s-official-untouched-image-t2857110- -> it's the same file as the one in the link they sent me
and unzip to you /android-sdk/platform-tools folder (for easy access)
• The /android-sdk/platform-tools folder is crreated with the ADB drive you downloaded.
4. Turn off OnePlus One, then press the Power button and hold the Volume Up button until the device shows the fastboot screen
5. Open the Command Prompt from your screen and run the following in the command line in sequence:
• You can access the Comand Prompt via the following shortcut: Windows + R, type “cmd” in the Open box and press enter.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata_64g.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash sbl1 sbl1.mbn
fastboot flash dbi sdi.mbn
fastboot flash aboot emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot flash rpm rpm.mbn
fastboot flash tz tz.mbn
fastboot flash LOGO logo.bin
6. In the same command line window, type "fastboot reboot" to reboot your OnePlus One into CyanogenMod."
That's not what I was talking about. But if it works, it works, that's just a more time consuming way to do it.

Yep as timmaaa said just use that recovery flashable zip didn't even notice we had them which is good. You will have to find out how to adb push it to your phone or put it on a USB stick and transfer via USB otg.

TWRP screen unresponsive

For some reason my phone wouldn't accept the OTA update to 44S, but I was happy with 38R so stuck with that.
Now I see lollipop is coming, and (as I read it) some of the updates in 44S and the latest update contain updates which are required for lollipop, so I decided to upgrade by flashing it.
Stupid decision to do before my morning coffees, but there you go.
I downloaded the unofficial XNPH44S rom with a plan to install via TWRP.
Here is where I made rookie mistake number one; I wiped the phone before I adb pushed the rom zip across.
A little googling, and I discovered adb sideload so I think all is not lost.
Sideloading the rom seemed to work, so I rebooted back into TWRP (v2.8.1.0) to install the rom, and now my screen is unresponsive. I can't press any of the options, and pressing the volume or power buttons just brings up the swipe to unlock, which of course does nothing because the screen won't respond.
I can't go back to fastboot and install the rom that way (which, with hindsight, I realise was probably my best option in the first place) because I have no OS installed, and I can't do anything with TWRP because the buttons don't work.
Any suggestions, or am I screwed?
When it's connected via adb isn't there a command to reboot into boot loader? Adb reboot-bootloader or something? Google around.
Or turn it off and press vol up + power I think that takes you to bootloader mode. Check the noob guides for commands and steps I can't remember off hand what they are
---------- Post added at 08:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:01 PM ----------
It's weird that twrp is unresponsive though...

It's weird that twrp is unresponsive though...

I was being a noob and thinking that because 'adb devices' was showing none that fastboot wouldn't work.
Went back to 38R, installed 44S OTA (which made my phone bootloop as it has every other time I tried to install it) then did an adb sideload of the 44s to 05Q update.
Phone fixed, and up to date - now I just have to reinstall everything and remember passwords.

[Q] Moto G - TWRP/CWM Do Not Open in Bootmode

I've followed instructions to unlock my bootloader which is done. I'm not sure if - "Device is unlocked. Status Code 3:" is correct or not, but that is what I see.
After unlocking I flashed TWRP 2.6.3.0-xt1032.img and it flashed correctly according to adb (attached). When I reboot the phone into bootloader and select recovery the screen just goes blank. I also tried "recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.7-falcon.img", which seemed to flash OK in adb. The bootloader screen goes blank when I select recovery on the phone for CWM as well.
Both recovery flashes showed a similar result on the phone - this paste is for CWM
In Moto bootmode:
USB Connected
cmd: getvarartition-type:recovery
cmd: getvar:max-download-size
cmd: download:07b2000
cmd: flash:recovery
Mismatched partition zize (recovery)
The phone has stock Android 5.0.2 installed and still works, but I can't get any further than flashing the recovery image in adb. I did flash the logo.bin in adb and it seemed to flash correctly .
I'm running Windows 8.1, USB 3 ports.
Is there something I'm missing, or a different way to do the root? I'm stuck at this point, but luckily can run with the stock ROM for now.
I would appreciate any help I can get, Thanks
both recoveries you have used are seemingly outdated for lollipop bootloader. i would suggest you to try out the newly built TWRP (which is not yet publicly released) cant post URLs here yet but search for '[RECOVERY][falcon]TWRP 2.8.7.0 touch recovery [2015-06-24]' here in XDA

I tried and same result. After flashing with adb - disconnect USB , boot into bootloader, down to recovery, push power button and blank screen. Normal power up does the same thing as does factory. Ad I can confirm the version is 41.18.
Thanks

these blank screens are quiet frustrating, can you get hold of the stock firmware for your model and flash back the stock recovery first and then try again with latest custom recoveries

I had problems last weekend after trying to go to CM12.1 after rooting and ending up in a bootloader loop. I ended up using a KitKat stock rom and mfastboot2 and typed in all of the lines - it worked. The phone then updated to 5.0.2 via auto update.
I don't have that stock from the network update, but found this one - XT1034_Retail_Canada_502_Stock_Untouched which contains 3 files, Meta-inf, system and boot.img. I don't see a recovery in the folder. I'm not really sure what to look for and how to do this.
Thanks

make sure you get exactly a stock ROM that is made for your model. trying firmware made for other models is surefire way of bricking you phone. usually the stock firmware images ending with '*.xml.zip' do have a 'recovery.img' in them.

Thanks again.
If I find a correct ROM (I do have a KitKat 4.4.4 version), do I flash back with adb, or with mfastbootv2?
The ROM I showed was from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-stock-motorola-lollipop-rom-t3017510
I have also found a firmware link on this thread "http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/index-moto-g-falcon-factory-firmware-t3110795" that looks to be in the correct format. There are thorough instructions on how to flash the firmware, but I am not sure if this will fix my issue or not.
Would appreciate any advice on how to proceed.
Thanks
I finally understood your comment "...can you get hold of the stock firmware for your model and flash back the stock recovery first and then try again with latest custom recoveries". I got a copy of the stock firmware, extracted the recovery from it and flashed it via adb to the phone - ok. I then tried to get into phone fastboot recovery, but was faced with the blank screen again. I flashed twrp 2.8.7.0 and the same thing in fastboot recovery - blank screen. I also tried cwm 6.0.5.1 and the same thing, blank screen.
ADB sees the device and accepts the commands, but the Motorola fastboot recovery doesn't open any of the recoveries. Nothing else in the bootloader seems to work ie: Factory - blank screen.
Every one of the recovery files other than the stock recovery shows a pink colored error "Mismatched partition size (recovery).
Anybody have any ideas as to what I can do to get a recovery to work?
Is there a different way to root this phone?
@jjcdennis i think you should post this to one of the active threads, since nobody with experience (this is well beyond mine) has dropped in yet. i would highly recommend; http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/recovery-twrp-2-8-2-0-touch-recovery-t2980621

Hello. Do you know where to find a twrp for Doogee Bl12000 ? I can't find any. Thanks.
Bootloader is unlocked. I keep watching Needrom. Nothing so far ?
Found a TWRP at a russian site. "Rulsmart.com". No idea if it's reliable. No use anyway, because the zip file is encrypted.

Accidentally formatted system partition in recovery

Hi, after installing TWRP, I was trying to do a fresh start on my op7 pro, but accidentally while formatting, I also happen to selected my system partition and formatted it.
Now I'm stuck on fastboot screen and can not install recovery or OS any how....
Can I recover without using msm tool from their support...
Help please
I think this

Just flash the latest build again from TWRP
- Download full OTA
- boot to TWRP
- plug phone to PC and move the downloaded OTA to phone internal storage
- In TWRP browse to OTA and flash it but DO NOT REBOOT
- flash TWRP installer
- reboot to TWRP and flash installer again just to be sure
- Reboot to system

I tried to do the same, but everytime I try to boot into recovery from fastboot, I get the same error
- FAILED (remote: Failed to load/authenticate boot image: Load Error)
Even tried different versions of twrp but same is happening
So, wait a minute... You did not install TWRP to the recovery partition before starting to format stuff?
---------- Post added at 03:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:27 PM ----------
In your first post you say "after installing TWRP"
If you have correctly installed TWRP you should be able to get to recovery by holding down power button and volume up button.

I did, installed TWRP quite a while ago before all this.
I was testing the latest dp on my mobile, but later I decided to revert back to stable. I flashed the pie version in local upgrade and wanted to start over.
So after booting once, I rebooted into TWRP and mistakenly selected system partition along with local storage in wipe option.
And now fastboot is the only thing I can boot in
I somehow don't think you are telling the story exactly as it went
I am assuming you flashed a full build and rebooted without flashing TWRP in-between.
Also, I am assuming you have flashed an older build that has the fastboot bug.
This means that you might be pretty screwed.
You can try to ADB push the full OTA via fastboot and flash it there using command line.
I guess at this point you are not caring anymore if you keep your data, right?
Also, there were some patched boot images laying around that might be worth flashing to see if fastboot is working on them.
As you have come across, there is a fastboot bug in some builds - I guess at some point it was fixed and then it reoccurred.
---------- Post added at 03:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:39 PM ----------
BTW, I guess the link already posted in this thread might be your best bet, since you have removed TWRP when you flashed the updated build and you cannot fastboot recovery, as you have found out, due to a bug from OnePlus.

Just get the fastboot ROM for the same version you're on. For example 9.5.10 then you HAVE to use the one for 9.5.10.
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=294300
Just download the Fastboot ROM (Make sure it's for your device as well). If on GM21aa then that's the one you use.
Put the phone in Fastboot mode and attach the phone to PC
Type Fastboot devices and make sure it comeback with your device serial number (like 6 or 8 digits, cant remember exactly)
Unzip the fastboot ROM and click on Flash-all.bat
Your phone will be like new as if shipped with 9.5.10 or whatever ROM you're on. There will be no root/TWRP/files (photos or music). You will have to do it all again but your phone will be working.
