Anyone seen them in person? I am torn between this, the new otterbox commuter, or wait for the Seidio Active. I have had a otter box commuter in the past on an INC. and like it, but it did make it thicker...my wife has a Active on the same inc now, but I really like how sleek and thin the Fascinate is without a case, but need something to give some protection??
Justin
Could just get a zagg or similar to protect the phone without a case...personally have the zagg and can't complain one bit knowing my phone is protected and still had the same look ad if it was out of the box.
Sent from my rooted 1.2 voodoo Fascinate
Look at the kickstand case I postd in this forum. Can get it shipped brand new for under $12 on eBay, and it's thinner than the rest, doesn't go past the front bezel, provides good grip on the back of the phone, and has a kickstand to boot. Best case out for our device IMHO.

I actually did, I went to the local VZW store down the road here on lunch Thursday and picked one up, with discount and tax it was about $15, which was fine by me to buy from a local place and get it right away....so far so good, I deffinatley like it sliding in and out of my pocket easier, I actually haven't used the kickstand in a real world application yet, but I guess its there if I want to
Ok I've decided to stay with the Epic.. would like to root it and install a custom rom possibly soon but thats besides the point.. I was seeing if someone would be so kind as to recommend me a good case, screen protector and maybe extended battery... was thinking about going to go look for some of these things locally but am trying to save $ so not sure if thats a good idea... any input is greatly appreciated....
The Epic 4G is a pretty good phone to stay with if you ask me...well at least until the Galaxy S2 iteration comes out.
Case: Otterbox Commuter - I've had 2 cases for the Samsung Epic (Whatever Seido Best Buy Branded Case that Best Buy Sells, and the Otterbox) and the Otterbox wins hands down. The Otterbox is about the best protection you can get.
Ext Battery: No clue because I haven't had a reason for one.
Screen Protector...Don't need one, thats gorilla glass but if you insist then I would recommend Skinomi TechSkin due to its just as good in my experience as the Zagg invisible shield but cheaper.
And if you are looking for a good stand or car windshield mount I recommend the clingo products.
All of these things can be found easily on Amazon.com.

Is this true on the screen/screen protectors? Not needed? I have a cheap on I got off eBay and it's showing some wear. Kinda worried to just rock the bare screen.
I sprang for a Zagg and after reading how many people were going without here, I ripped it off. Could not be happier and have not had a single scratch.
Good choice on keeping the phone, a good rom like Syndicate paired with an Otterbox case make for a great phone. Once you're rooted make sure to flash Impaler's keyboard fix. Don't bother with screen protectors as the Gorilla Glass is fine as long as you keep it in a different pocket than your keys and loose change. Mine survived a ten foot slide, face down on concrete and came out without a scratch. Its not as scratch proof against sharp/abrasive metals however.
As far as extended batteries go I would recommend just picking up an extra stock one like this.

You can buy the Otterbox now for $8+shipping or do what I did and use Auctionsniper. I picked mine up for $7 shipped. Sprint stores also sell them for $19.99

Hey guys,
Recently I bought this and while it looked great at first, it dawned on me that it doesn't tightly fit my device and the bottom part of my Nexus 4 has slipped out of the case a couple times..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FULL-BLACK-...959490?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item56513a4042
So now I'm hunting for a new case. I've had really good experiences with the Seidio case with my Nexus S, but it's proven to be rather expensive compared to what others have offered. Wouldn't mind going back if it's the only case of this category that is the best fit and protection for the device.
I was looking at the Mybat but was concerned about the actual bulk of the device, and it being easy to remove as I often take off the shell from time to time. Also, no one seemed to comment if the case interferes with headphones with L-shaped plugs either.
The other two contenders are Ballistic and Ionic, heard great things from both but unsure which is better. I did hear that Ionic cases attract lint very easily but I do like its price very much. Not a fan of the bubble-back design though. Heard great things about Ballistic, but like the Seidio case, the cost is making me apprehensive about purchasing one.

I have the iconic and thought it was too thick, so I ordered the Ballistic one and it's even thicker
I'm tempted to try the ACTIVE but I have spent so much on cases it isn't even funny....
Edit...I just bought it on ebay for $24.99 and free shipping.
When i had my gs3 i had a variety of cases including; cheap ebay "tough" cases with kickstands, an otterbox defender (never again), and a ballistic sg. The Ballistic is a GREAT case. It was sturdy, the phone would never pop out, the plastic was nice, and the silicone inner was much better than the plastic inner found on the defender. The silicon not only prevented scratches, but also prevented dust and any other unwanted items in. It almost seals the device. When i bought my nexus 4, i was very dissapointed that there weren't any decent protective cases out. I knew the ballistic sg was coming, but ive had my device since december and needed something for the short term... Something to get so i can wait for the ballistic. I was almost going to buy the case you bought, but i really don't like kickstands. I searched on ebay and found the mybat tough case, I bought it as it met all my requirements; it was cheap, it was protective, it didn't have a kickstand, and it actually looked good. The buyer i bought my case from shipped the case very fast to Australia, (which suprised me, usually these types of cases end up taking about a month) To my suprise, the case was really good quality for the price. The cutouts were (almost) perfect, the fit was pefect, the phone doesn't move about at all. I paid 15 dollars shipped to Australia compared the 70 or 80 odd dollars it would cost me to buy a ballistic shipped. I had the case on for a day, and I loved it...Until I tried to hang up on a phone call... the sensor on the lg is very sensitive, and this case just blocks it enough to stop the screen coming on. This fault was quickly fixed with a drill bit, and since then, i have had no issues, and will continue using this case for the remainder of the phones life. I simply prefer the whole case over the ballistic i had on the s3. However the ballistic was slightly better made, it doesn't warrant even a 15 dollar increase over this case. I love this case. (Note in my pictures the proximity cut out I modified) I did a custom design with sharpie marker on mine and it came out awesome! I wouldn't do this to a more expensive case as id be worried about wrecking it, but since these bad boys are so cheap, who cares. If this broke, i wouldn't think twice at buying another one.
Edit: This case also works with my energizer qi charging mat.
that back is awesome!
FYI the ballistic case works with the LG-WCP700 wireless charging pad. I do however find it is harder to hold on to as it's slippery compared to the Ionic. It's also larger than the Ionic.
I'd go with Mybat (because it's cheap and looks decent) or the Active (because seidio makes a good product and I like the kickstand.)
i also love the look of rugged cases.. been using them ever since my first smartphone
currently i am using this armourdilo case that i saw online.. it is available for sale on mobilefun website or i have seen a seller through eBay AUS...
availbale in a varieety of colours as well although i stuck the standard black on black ...
as well as many youtube vdo reviews bout it.. so i decided to buy it.. really good look and feel..

How easy is it to remove the case once installed? Plus does it interfere with L-shaped headphone jacks?

The case is easier to get off than my ballistic sg on the s3 was. With that said, if i drop it, it doesn't feel as if it will fly apart. The case has interfered with one of my L-shaped head jacks, and works with another.. i just use a simple headphone extender when i want to use those earphones.

Hmmm that might not fly then for me... I listen to music with my phone a lot ... my phone is essentially an Internet-enabled MP3 player that so happens to have a phone function built in lol.

I have the ionic case on mine wasn't too sure from the pictures but I like it and the circles on the back aid grip.
I also dropped it from about 5feet and it bounced on all 4 corners but the phone was fine!
Mate I answered you about headphones, check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37912172#post37912172 :silly: I can recommend the tuff case too, it is a solid and very fair priced case.

Second with mybatt.. Cheap and sturdy for the price. Get a good looking one for the less dangerous situations.

i am in urgently need for a case
should be protective and cheap as well
Well, the warranty for this thing expires very soon, so I ought to take the best care of it that I can (within reason, of course).
There are quite a few options for case and screen protector... which are worth the cash? Otterbox has a reputation for building good cases, and the Commuter is about $30 shipped from Amazon $20 shipped from eBay sellers. There's also Ballistic's offering, which follows the same design principles as the Otterbox, but costs 1/3 the price, doesn't come with covers for the ports, and for all I know, isn't as strong.
But it could be. I don't know, haha.
There's also the battery pack cases... which retail for anywhere between $40-100, afaik. I have no idea if they're worth it.
Same deal with screen protectors: which is worth the money? I despise the orange-peel effect but really want to protect the glass from scratching (Corning, when's GG3 going into production? Revision 2 still scratches like a mo'!). There's offerings from Zagg and XOSkins and ArmorSuit and the myriad "no-name" brands discoverable through Amazon (Am Film, Mirror, Fosmon, etc). Perhaps I should just buy the cheap ones and cycle them out as needed?
I am using one of the cheap no-name screen protectors (like 6 for $5 with shipping or something from Amazon) and it's been great. I also bought an inexpensive TPU case (under $10, forget the brand) and it's been fine. I'm pretty clumsy and have dropped the device a lot, but it's light so the case has been enough protection. I'd love to find a good battery case that doesn't cost too much, too, since I don't want to carry around an external booster device everywhere. So far I've made due with chargers at home and at work, but it's not the same.
Whatever you get make sure it's for the HTC One XL, not just the X nor anything that says both X and XL.
I user an ottorbox commuter without a screen protector. I've already dropped and broken the screen on this phone twice. (Once in cheap tpu case off eBay)
Dropped it a few times in the commuter and don't worry about it at all.
Definitely worth it

I figured I may as well spend an extra $10 for the peace of mind. Should be getting the Commuter this Tuesday. I'll post a review of it if anyone's interested.
I use the Ballistic SG and it is simply awesome in the amount of protection it gives.

I can only reccomend the ClearPlex screen protector. Check them out, seriously. No loss of clarity on the screen and good customer service. I had an issue with my first one and they sent me another for free without me even asking. They make windshield protectors too!! I had gym shorts on one day while riding the mower cutting grass and my phone slipped out of my pocket. Needless to say, my screen came out fine. http://www.clearplex.com/

Zerlemon Case
I got cases for my Galaxy S4 from Zerolemon and it is worth buying at 19.99 USD
I am waiting for them to release for One X as well.
cruzerlite
definetly, cruzerlite tpu case is the best one out there!
I'm with Zodiac on the Otterbox, although I use the screen version. Protected the phone through some major drops, as well as normal abuse. Not sure how many other cases would have done as well. Worth the $$ to me.
Otterbox for sure
I've had the Otterbox commuter on my phone for 2 years and have dropped it many times in that period without any damage. The softcovers for the ports have worn out though, the rubber hinges developed cracks after about 18 months and they eventually fell off. Otherwise it's great.
Hi all,
I've done the digging on this forum and seems its been a few months since many of you have chimed in on waterproof S6 cases.
It seems the best options are Lifeproof FRE or Dog and Bone Wetsuit. That said, I've read two things: 1) those who swear by Lifeproof despite the complaints and 2) those who bought it and were highly disappointed.
Both are pricey.
Which is thinner?
I see Dog and Bone claims to use a tempered glass protector but I've read in multiple places it feels like plastic, not tempered glass. That said, I realize the outer layers of tempered glass are plastic.
I also read the Dog and Bone reduced radio reception quite a bit. Is this true?
How easy is it to remove either of these? Can I put these on when I need to go on adventures and switch back to my Spigen Neo Hybrid when I want slim? The 2nd problem with that is I generally use tempered glass so I guess I'll have to remove this to put on either of these cases?
EDIT: After more digging I'm also curious about these options: Punkcase SpikeStar, Ghostek Atomic. The Punkcase reviews on Amazon almost all say it's good but the bad ones are very short anonymous, and not very detailed.. which almost makes me think the other big names are having trolls badmouth the little guys.. but who knows.
Thanks.
I have lifeproof. I was considering dog&bone wetsuit as well, but limited availability, warranty, and price (lp was half price than d&b on amazon) were drawbacks. Lifeproof works well with tempered glass sp (mine's 0.2mm thick). Had issue with crack in charging port cover, contacted lifeproof and they replaced it with a whole new case, paid 5 dollars for shipping, no hassel. I have complete confidence in the waterproofing nature of case, and it's surprising light. (Lighter than my neo hybrid metal). Let me kknow if you have any more questions.
I'm thinking of getting this one. Couldn't find too much on it though.

So despite the negative reviews I've read, would you recommend Lifeproof as a case to switch to for excursions when waterproof is desired? Then switching back when back to normal (dry) life?

That's exactly what I do. I use neo hybrid for protection in dry weather. Spigen liquid crystal at home. And lifeproof whenever I'm outdoors camping, or otherwise. It's quite easy to take the case off with a coin.
As long as you take care of the case, it'll last you.
One of the biggest complaints was Power port cover breaking off, and it's 99.9% user error/negligence. Sound, admittedly, will degrade in quality, but I see it as a fair trade off for waterproof feature.
I was very tempted to get Dog and bone, but they're availability is scarce (it's from Australia). Also the price is double than LP.
If you're in canada/Us, don't buy it from retail. Buy it from amazon, and you'll pay almost half the price of retail.
Try to avoid off-brand cases. They usually have very poor quality, and warranty if there is a problem with the case. Invest a little more and opt for a reputable brand, whether you choose LP or D&B.

Thanks. I'll probably do Lifeproof. I do wish for the price of the case it had better than a 1 year warranty. They could do much better saying "Lifetime" knowing that most people don't keep their phone for more than 3 years.
The extreme muffled sound of life proof was a deal beaker. I could hardly hear voice in a noisy environment. I had life proof and returned it then got a dog and bone which has no audio issue and you can almost use it day to day. By comparison life proof looks better made/more shockproof.
