Data didn't not seem to work for me either. I noticed turning it on/off via settings, there was a popup question, maybe that is interfering.
WiFi, WiFi Hotspot, Location and Bluetooth switches work fine.
Data switch does not work neither turning it on nor off.

Yes
I checked the recent reviews on the play store and a lot of users are having the same problem with the data switch.
I tried re-installing wiping cache etc but still doesn't work so the only solution is to wait for the dev to update it.
After Sound Toggle didn't work in 5.0.1, it works well again.
Data on-off not working for me too, Wi-Fi working though.

I also have problems with the data toogle after lollipop release. The other ones works fine though.
In the the 5.0, 5.01 releases flashing a custom rom resolved the data toogle issue.
seems power toggle have to be deeply fixed....i have a big problem with wifi toggles / wifi hotspot
if i enable wifi hotspot and disable wifi toggle, something mess up.-.
wifi hotspot get error and flash continuously on/off
only solution I have found is reboot and clear dalvik/cache
Looks like in Lollipop, the device must be rooted to enable Data via a widget! No joy on the missus' Moto G 2!

Ever since updating my Moto G to KitKat wifi remains on all the time even if I select 'Only when plugged in' for the wifi sleep policy. It was fine while on Jelly Bean. Anyone else have this problem?

i had the same issue and posted the question here in the forum i got some replies, but nothing helped. here is the link to my thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2608546
hope some one responds to our issue.
Interestingly I've solved the problem, on my phone at least. I switched from ART back to Delvik runtime as a few apps wouldn't run and now WiFi is switching off when the screen is off.

I experienced what I believe to be the same issue with my N5 - I used to have my wifi policy set to "Never" so that wifi would be turned off when the screen is off and it used to work. Recently I thought I'd give ART a shot and after using it for a while, found that wifi stayed on regardless of what the policy was set to. I disabled all background syncing apps (google account, fb, etc.) and all location services and the wifi never switched off the way it used to. I also tried wifi optimisation on/off, avoid poor connections on/off, and always searching on/off but nothing fixed it.
Even after switching back to Dalvik though, it still doesn't work properly. Currently doing a factory reset and will see if it works after and report back
Any solution yet? Mine does the same and I tried everything, from turning off location to uninstalling maps (seeing they have an option to activate wifi) to factory reset and nothing helped.
Advanced Wifi Settings
In Advanced settings is Scanning always available
ensue this is off, otherwise location services will look for networks even if wifi is off,so presumably it turns it on to do this!

Finally my phone alive now with fastboot downgrade with 4.3 brazilian retail version .only problem is that wifi is not working.plse help
please check the router setting of which the device connect access to internet, under wifi setting in the router homepage check if the channel is not selected to AUTO, please choose channel ex: 1,2,3,4,5 etc and connection frequency to single band i.e 20MHZ or 40 MHZ, but it might also work in auto band mode selection. I had the same issue on my HTC A9 android version marshmellow but when i changed the setting it works fine.
In my experience with Stock ROMs, this issue (Wi-Fi always active in Battery Stats even though sleep policy is set to: Never) is caused by an installed app.
Viber has a setting in General > Wi-Fi sleep policy.
Not every app will have such an option, but check. All you can do if the issue persists is to clean install ROM and one by one start adding your apps to see when the problem reoccurs.
There may be apps (or an xposed module) that will allow you to stop apps changing the Wi-Fi sleep policy. I've not done any research on the topic.
Wi-Fi Scanning can be enabled or disabled and does not have an affect.
My wifi has been off since i upgraded to M, clean install from the Google images. It still reports my wifi as on and using up my battery....is this a bug or am i reading this incorrectly?

I don't know if this is a setting in marshmallow, but I know in KitKat if you go into the advanced settings menu on the wifi page there is an option that allows the phone to automatically turn on and scan for networks without any user intervention. That setting should be turned off.

You're not alone I'm using mine, but WiFi wasn't on top of the list ever in 5.1.1. Has to be a bug
Ive got this issue as well. Its really annoying. I always keep Wifi off to extend battery life but with M I might as well just keep it on...

huh...mine is set to Always keep wifi on during sleep. Does that matter even if wifi is off?
Since I'm still running kitkat i can't speak for marshmallow, but on KitKat, the wifi on/off toggle takes priority over that setting. Wifi will only stay on during sleep if it was turned on to begin with, but that isn't the issue you guys are experiencing right? There might be an option in that same menu that says something like "let Android search for networks even if wifi turned off". That gives the results you guys are experiencing.
Go to settings-->location-->menu-->scanning and check if WiFi and Bluetooth scanning options are kept on..
I don't have this issue..

Both are checked, i unchecked them both. What were the status of yours?
When I flashed the Factory Image (6.0) I had this problem. I flashed back to 5.1.1 booted the phone. Then booted into recovery and sideloaded the OTA update to 6.0 booted the phone and preformed a factory reset. I do not have this problem anymore. Wifi doesn't even show up in the battery stats.

During initial setup Google asked me if I wanted to keep WiFi scanning enabled to help apps with location to find the location easily.. I declined.. Hence they were off..
Did it help with the battery?

Just an update on battery life. 1.5h SOT no WiFi bug (after sideloading the OTA update) also noticed the battery graph added Camera and Flashlight if they were used

hello everybody.
i recently got a problem , as we know, in the dev option , there is a setting that enables mobile data on even while Wi-Fi is connected.
i set it on , and then once i connect to wifi the data off immediately.
first of all i thought might be some of my apps interfering the system so i just did factory reset , 0 app installed , i didn't even update the pre-installed apps.
but still same thing , i tried reboot like dozens times, enable disable wifi , enable disable data connection ...etc.
nothing works out...
any idea please ?

So basically you want both on at the same time? Or to change automatically from WiFi to LTE when not in WiFi range?

Can confirm it worked using developers options setting, 4G & WiFi enabled simultaneously yesterday when I read this thread
Just tried it again now and it won't enable 4G unless I disable WiFi
Looks like a bug with the OS, not just you
Report to Samsung and hope for a fix
Just download Google duo app and run.

I notice that when I turn on the hotspot feature on the Mate 9, other devices connected to the Mate 9 can access internet, but the Mate 9 itself can no longer connect to the Internet at all. Can anyone else confirm if this is only me or a software glitch? Thanks.
I was running on C636B100 and upgrade to B136 and the problem still exist.
Thanks!
This is the way it works apparently.

I haven't tried it yet but you should be able to connect to the internet on 4G /3G. The WiFi cannot connect to your WiFi server while acting as a hotspot.
That's how it works on other phones anyway - I'd expect the Mate to be the same.

I understand the phone will turn the wifi off and use the wifi antenna to host the hotspot, but the Mate 9 should still be able to access the internet via mobile data, right?
I've used other Androids before and my whatsapp, facebook and chrome will continue to work even when I turn on hotspot (via mobile data). When I turn on hotspot on the Mate 9, the phone iteslf stops all Internet access but clients connected to the hotspot can access internet via mobile data (from Mate 9) without problem.

Yes, as I said in post #3. Are you saying yours doesn't do it?
It's working fine here,try a factory reset.
Maybe it's your carrier? But it definitely should work...

Yup, no internet when I turn on hotspot (even when mobile data is on).
I guess I'll have to try and reset when I have a chance.
Just tested it on mine, on EE/BT in the UK and it works fine. Also works using bluetooth tethering. Both to a Samsung Tab S2.
I figured out what the issue is. My carrier have a tethering APN which seems to be causing the problem. Once I delete the tethering APN entry, I can access Internet while I have hotspot turn on.

How you delete it. When I deleted my APN I can not save the changes.

So, did this issue result from your carrier, other than mate 9 itself?
How do you delete the APN? I am using Mate 10 and I'm having the same issue
Thanks
Did you get a solution to this? My new Mate 10 is doing the same thing. Hotspot works. Laptop gets data, but all mobile data stops on phone. So Whatsapp stops if my hotspot is on..
Ian
I had the issue, adding DUN to APN Type on the APN SETTINGS fixed the issue.
Hope it helps.

Apparently caller ID apps will also cause this

It was same for me, but it just happened on both phones (one have never been rooted) and when I uninstall addguard again Wifi OR 4G icons, not both!
Maybe WIFi doesnt have internet access and phone switches mobile data on?
I found the Problem - SIM card I exchanged it and everything is OK for now
My bad, it wasn't SIM card but SD Card 200GB one
I have a similar problem. Very rarely, but it happens. Wifi and mobile data stay connected at the same time. And the bigger problem is that during this, one of the cpu M cores stays stuck on max load and frequency. Restart solves the issue, but i need to figure it out.
Android system usage goes up in the battery stats, but there are lots of processes included there. Is there an app that i can use so i can see in real time, which single process is ramping up one of the big cores? The phone is totally stock S7.
I will appreciate the help.
P.S. I really hate Samsung's garbage software !!
This was my solution
I recently downloaded a GPS spoof app and that's what was causing the Wi-Fi and 4g on it says it does it as app only works over mobile data. Due to some location pinpoint on Wi-Fi. Don't know if it's true but deleted it and gifted problem for me.
