Bootloop in Lollipop and can't restore backup - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, I need urgent help
I've upgraded my moto G 2013 to Lollipop retail UE a couple of days ago, everything was working perfect, I have it only rooted and few apps installed, nothing weird (no xposed). I wanted to install a new bootlogo but just in case I did a backup with the TWRP recovery.
I got a bootloop after flashing that, and when I wanted to restore my backup, it was not there! The ''restore'' tab in TWRP is empty, but I see the backup in my sdcard with the file manager of TWRP, it was done just 2 min before but it's just like if the recovery doesn't see it.
What can I do? I've tried with a factory reset but still in bootloop. Can I flash a Kitkat stock rom via fastboot? Because I've seen in some places that it can brick my phone... I was thinking, maybe I can flash the logo of the Lollipop UE rom?
Thanks in advance, I need your help

yes u can flash the kitkat stock rom but follow these steps carefully......
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
mfastboot reboot
note:
u will receive some errors but no problem continue
after flashing kitkat will see flashing line on ur device every time u reboot ur device
just on and off ur screen and that would do it(fix the problem).
upgrade to lollipop to get rid of that flashing lines problem.

Thank you very much! any help to try to install the backup I have but isn't detected by TWRP recovery? Because I wouldn't like to lose all my data

Did you store it to an external SD card using a OTG device? Did you try changing the location for the restore file in TWRP?

So is there any other way that i can install this OTA. Without messing above configuration ?
Flash the stock recovery . Unroot your phone (there is an option in SuperSU). Flash OTA update through stock recovery. To root again, flash philz recovery, reboot from recovery. You will get an option to disable recovery flash and install SU binaries. Choose yes for both and install SuperSU from the playstore. You will be on rooted 5.0.2 now.
today i downloaded the ota and while it was being insatalled about 25 % the screen displayed "error" and the device booted up and it said update unsuccessful....
what to do.......... unlocked bootloader + UNrooted moto g xt1033....

Reflash the ASian XT1033 4.4.4 firmware and try again. There are numerous guides regarding this OTA flashing business in the general section. You might want to check them out.

is recomended to do a factory reset before a clean install, if you dont want to do this, you can try to flash without factory reset, but if the flash fail, you must do a factory reset....when you root the phone some libs files is modified

[Q] urgent help motog cant boot

Hello all urgent help needed. i have moto g xt10333 yesterday did ulocking bootloader and twrp installed . now today trying to do backup of system boot and data. after backup completed i tried to boot. but now its in bootloop. then i tried to go into twrp recovery. there it stuck at twrp logo. also tried to flash twrp again. but no effect. please help . what i have to do.
EDIT::
actually it was stuck at twrp logo .cant goin recovery. so what i did is flashed philz touch 6 cwm now i can boot in recovery. i did wipe all data and cache now m downloading stock firmware. now after that how to flash stock rom ? please tell me
To flash stock ROM, boot the phone into fastboot mode, connect it to your computer, and use fastboot or mfastboot commands to manually flash each partition.
If you have the 41.18 bootloader on your phone, don't bother flashing the motoboot file.
Here's how I flashed stock Telus 4.4.4 to my xt1032:
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn

How to fix XT1032 Boot loop after factory reset

Hi,
after an apparently failed attempt to install the 5.0 OTA update my XT1032 now will boot to a droid lying on its back.
I went to the recovery from there (by pressing VolUp+Power) and did the "factory reset/wipe data" and rebooted.
Same result.
I did "wipe chache". Same result: Droid lying on its back, saying "Kein Befehl" (I guess that means "no command")
I can get into recovery mode (CWM was installed before all this*) so I could try to flash stuff from outside.
But what should I try to flash? I tried flashing a (supposedly) stock system but as soon as I start with "fastboot flash boot boot.img" the phone starts booting again. So I am not really sure what to do now.
Something is seriously wrong with this phone and I would like to restore it to stock settings. I bought it on amazon.DE - so if any one of you guys knows where I could find a truly original stock image for this phone and what to do with it, please let me know.
PS: Right now I can't even get into recovery anymore. The thing just keeps booting and booting. Can't even turn it off.
* meaning: before I flashed the supposed stock recovery that apparently, in combination with the OTA update, got me into this mess
I now followed this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47820707#post47820707
I used option 3b with a 4.4.4 rom ( RETAIL-DE_4.4.4_KXB21.14-L1.40_36_cid7_CFC_1FF )
I excuted all these commands. However, upon flashing the boot.img the phone immediately boots (and gets stuck).
So I re-entered fastboot again to finish the job. Everything else went fine.
But the problem persists: When booting, the phone now displays the "Warning: Bootloader unlocked" message for a long time, with a kind of water ripple effect from bottom to top, repeating.
When I switch it off, it switches back on automatically, trying to boot and getting stuck at this screen. Sometimes I get to the droid lying on its back with a red !-Triangle on top. Poor little bugger. Soft bricked.
What can I do to fix this?
I can still enter fastboot.
I assume that yet again I grabbed the wrong ROM.
Is this supposed to be dead? http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=14
I think you might be on lollipop bootloader as you are having a screen flickering issue & downgrading the boatloader might be dangerous.
I'm don't know whether it will solve your problem but try flashing a lollipop firmware.
I'm not allowed to post links. Google for XT 1032 lollipop firmware. I saw one in groupandroid website.
Download the firmware from the site & execute the given commands.

Thank you. I got that file.
"adb devices" won't find my phone, though.
"Fastboot devices" does. So I can't use "adb push ..." to move the ROM to the phone.
Also, whatever option I chose from the Fastboot Flash Mode, the phone starts to boot. So I can not "enter" Recovery.
Should I just use "fastboot update rom.zip"? I don't wan't to miss my last chance to revive this phone.
ADB commands will not work in with the phone fastboot mode.
Since fastboot commands do work, you can manually flash each partition from the stock ROM. Entering recovery isn't required to do this.

The problem here is that the phone will boot as soon as I flash the boot.img and the whole thing fails.
Do you see a way out of this situation?
Any way to do this with a .zip ROM?
Have you tried flashing different firmware such as the GPE for your phone?
Does boot.img flash properly? If it does, you could try installing TWRP, boot into TWRP, mount the data partition, and use your computer to copy a custom ROM to the phone fpr flashing.
@Fretchen
That might be because you are on lollipop bootloader & you are trying to flash kitkat bootloader? But I may be wrong. Previously you told that you tried restoring to kitkat & that boot.img is kitkat bootloader. Try with this lollipop firmware.

I now did exactly what legolas06 wrote, using "MoeMoe_BRASIL_XT1032_5.0.2_LXB22.46-28_cid12_CFC.xml"
There were "hab check fails" for recovery and boot but at least the device did not reboot upon flashing the boot.img.
I rebooted it and it is going further than ever before, all the Motorola animations were played but in the end the phone got stuck at the circular blue pool (water) with the bit Motorola 'M' plus the concentric water ripple effect.
I switched it off and on again and then it played through the animations, then updated the apps (total number: 9) and then started the system. Apparently it is working.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate your support.
Allow me thse final questions:
Can I from now on just apply OTA updates?
If not, what can I change to make this possible?
Is it advisable to install a EU Rom soon for whatever reason?

You flashed the stock firmware so everything should work again. OTA updates if available would work.

I don't know if you can apply OTA updates. Before the OTA update will work, you may need to update all Motorol apps via Play store.
You could wait until a fulkl stock lollipop pop is released for your phone and flash it using fastboot.
You can try different ROMs but stick to the ROMs made for your model. I have an xt1032 and I have installed US Retail, stock Telus, and GPE.

these steps look soo similar that the ones you can find in other blogs/discussions, but for me, in my case the main difference was the firmware, I tried with a loot of them, but the one that is mentioned in this post, installed smoothly, and with no issues, thank you so much, to post your experience and this solution.

Hanging in bootloop after trying to install 4.4.4

Hello, I registered, hoping that somone maybe could help here.
Yesterday I wanted to get the latest 5.1 update for my moto g, running 5.0.2. Because I rooted the device amd modified some things like uninstalling system apps and replacing system apps with their updates; I wanted to flash a clean system first. I tried to find a german 5.0.2 rom and couldn't find one, so I decided the 4.4.4 version I got should do the same. So I tried to install it via fastboot. For doing this I used these fastboot commands:
Code:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot reboot
I got these three errors: version downgraded primary_gp, version downgraded for tz, version downgraded for boot.
On reboot the phone get's stuck on bootloader unlocked screen and won't boot. I can reset by long pressing power, I can also enter fastboot menu.
After searching for two hours I could find this firmware XT1032_FALCON-RETDE_5.0.2_LXB22.46-28.1_1_cid7_CFC_1FF.xml (can't post link) and tried to install, I used the same commands as above and finished without any error. But there's still the bootloop. I tried to install several times and tried also to wipe data and cache. Can anyone help or is the phone bricked forever?
Dont flash motoboot, i had this same problem when flashing motoboot
I tried it again without flashing motoboot, with the same result. I think the problem is, that I flashed it once, so I think I could only fix it by undoing the motoboot flash.
Edit: Seems like the problem is only with stock rom. I tried to install CM12 and it is running fine, except it refuses a wifi connection. If CM would run that would also be ok, but without wifi,...so I just need stock.
Meanwhile I'm using a custom rom as a workaraound.
Try on this order @piet85
logo
boot
recovery
system.img1
system.img2
system.img3
nhlos
erase midem set 1
erase modem set 2
fsg
erase user data
and cache
Mind that the commands are not written on the right way just because im lazy :-
Thank you a lot, don't get me wrong, but for the moment I'm very glad having a running system on my phone and it runs very good for a custom rom. So there is no real need to flash again. Maybe I will do so, when there are major bugs or when I have more time, but for the moment the custom rom does it's job.

Need help to install stock ROM on Moto G 2013 Falcon

Hi guys,
Im from the UK and I have a Moto G XT1032 device which was running Cyanogenmod 12 up until yesterday when I decided to re-install the stock rom. Unfortunately, I have well and truly botched it. The current situation is that I have TWRP set up as the recovery image, so I can get into 'AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)' OR into TWRP.
I accidentally wiped the 'system' via TWRP which seems to have caused most of my problems. I have tried to install the stock rom using a flashable zip (which failed) and I have also tried around 10 times to install the stock rom using the fastboot commands:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
#fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot reboot
When I try to do a basic wipe using TWRP, this is what shows up: hxxps://s27.postimg.org/r1dax21mb/falcon.jpg (change xx for tt, I don't yet have 10 posts so I cannot post links)
I just cannot seem to get the stock rom installed and booting no matter what I try. Can someone please work with me to get this sorted?
I would very, very much appreciate the help.
Thank you
Ok so i've managed to fix the 'unable to mount storage' issue via TWRP. I changed 'data' to EXT4 and I don't get any errors now.
But the problem is, for whatever reason, I am just unable to install a stock rom. I've used tutorials and still cannot seem to get a stock rom to load/work.
I used fastboot to install the rom files is this zip: XT1032_FALCON_TESCOGBSL_5.1_LPBS23.13-56-2_cid7_CFC.xml.zip
When I do a normal boot it gets stuck on 'Warning bootloader unlocked'
When I go to 'recovery', it boots up to a dead android which says 'no command'
When I go to factory restore, it gets stuck on the 'Warning bootloader unlocked' screen
What am I doing wrong?
edit: I even tried sideloading cyanogenmod and it said it was successful, but then it boots up to TWRP. Totally confused! In desperate need of help.
EDIT: I have now made progress. Here are my basic instructions:
put all the files from the zip file in a folder
put mfastboot.exe files into the same folder
install TWRP, erase
run bat file (add/remove sparse depending on files)
reboot and wait. Should work
I have managed to install the OS but wifi isn't working. And i'm now learning about a file called persist that I need to look into regarding wifi.
