Hi Guys,
Recently I bought a Samsung Galaxy J1 (SM-J100H) phone. I wanted to root it but the tools I found so far didn't work.
Therefore I was wondering if it is possible to
1. Download the stock *.tar.md5 file for my phone from sammobile.com,
2. extract the images, push the su, busybox and SupserUser.apk directly into the system.img and
3. flash the repacked tar.md5 from Odin in download mode
has anybody tried this before? is there a potential risk in this method?
Regards
Have you tried? Just curious as I'm also waiting to root my Samsung J1. In the mean time, use helium for data backup and restore.

PLEASE HELP...Recently I completely wiped my galaxy gear and had to flash the UK stock ROM in order for it to work. Now that I want root my gear, it is not recognized by Cydia Impactor, CMD(for adb purposes). My computer recognizes my gear so I have obviously installed the right drivers but I can't go much further than that. I was able to root me gear when I had the original stock ROM on it (US version). Is there any way to restore the US version back on my galaxy gear?? P.S I tried installing a custom recovery using ODIN and the flash only gets as far as ID:0/004>NAND WRITE START!!
I rooted my Galaxy S5 a while back (using Chainfire's ROM) and may now be looking to trade it at CEX. Because of this I want to restore the operating system back to Samsung's standard software. I have downloaded this from Sammobile and have ZIP file G900FXXU1BNL2_G900FXEO1BNL1_G900FXXU1BNL2_HOME.zip
This looks to contain all the necessary files but I can't find any way to install this using Odin as this requires a TAR or MD5 file extension. I have tried using KIES to reinstall the Samsung firmware but this has been superseded by Smart Switch which does not pick the phone up when I put it in recovery mode. All the instructions I have found talk about using Odin to reinstall the stock Samsung furmware (I am using Odin 3.10) but I can't see how to do this.
Anyone have any walkthoughs they could give me?
Thanks
Dave
Sm-g920p s6 is sprint phone and the stock roms are us roms. The network issue appears if you flash the stock rom and try to use it outside of us.Thats what happened to me
You dont need to buy international version of s6 which can be sm g920f because i have a solution.
After 2 days of research i have finally found a solution for that.
What you can do now is to download the downgraded version of your sm g920p which can be 5.0.1 lolipop.(My point is that you should download the rom which has no network issue) so you can extract the file and take out the 'modem.bin' file from it and flash it to your phone using odin.Thats it enjoy your network now.
You must choose CP to flash .bin file in odin.(not AP)
You must root your phone before flashing the modem and make sure your phone rooted with CF Auto Root, not with kernels!.
Just think that Modem.bin File is a network so what you gonna do is to take out the modem.bin file from any rom which has a working network for your phone.
'For the people who dont have a working rom'----------
You may have trouble finding a working rom for your phone. If so try to use mine.
The file i am providing is Modem.bin file itself so you dont need to extract and pull out anything.Just flash it to your phone using odin.

English is my second language so i struggled to write that.Hope you understand.
So I have a g920t, whenever I flash any custom Rom, my network doesn't connect. Are you saying on stock firmware and tomorrow, extract the modem file.
Install custom, root custom, then flash file and my network should be working?

Hi, as the title says im looking for a way to keep TWRP while i install the newest stock room for my specific version of the S7 Edge.
I already downloaded the 2GB zip file from sammobile, but that files are made for the Odin installer, and if i install it trough Odin i am guessing TWRP will go away.
tl;dr: Im looking for a way to have MAGISK hence TWRP and newest stock for my specific version of the S7 Edge

The only way you're going to flash any kind of stock firmware while keeping TWRP is if someone has conveeted your stock firmware into a flashable.zip that can be flashed in TWRP. If there is not a flashable .zip available, you wont be able to do what you're trying to do.
The only other way to flash stock firmware is to use Odin or mobile Odin and they will both remove root and TWRP.
Typically, Samsung devices that are rooted and have TWRP can only update the stock firmware via Odin, mobile Odin, Kies or SmartSwitch. This removes root and TWRP which means those users have to root their device again and flash TWRP again.

Planning to use ODIN to flash the stock rom on Galaxy Grand prime g530FZ. I've read that to ensure the user data files are not wiped, ODIN must be specifically provided HOME_CSC file from the firmware archive.
However, all the fw packages I tried downloading only have one .tar.md5 file: <home.tar.md5
Is there any repo that has the multi-tar (5 files) version of the firmware? I am aware, that Grand Prime might be too old of a phone, so its fw could be 1-file only. If that is the case, is there a way to flash the stock rom without losing user data?
