Trouble updating to 5.0.2 - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi folks,
my Moto G (GB retail, running stock 4.4.4, stock recovery) has been working fine for quite some time. A few months ago, I experienced a bootloop and made a hard reset. Since then, Google Contacts Sync isn't working until I install a GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk (that I found somewhere on the internet).
Today, the new update to 5.0.2 fails to install (aborts after a minute or so) and the phone boots back normally. I also tried updating via .zip file through recovery and the system says the update has been aborted because current "GoogleContactsSyncAdapter.apk has unexpected contents". The same message is shown when installing the update on a freshly reset phone (without installing the aforementioned downloaded .apk).
Could anyone provide a solution?
Thanks a million!

If you have an unlocked bootloader, you could try flashing a stock 4.4.4 ROM, then try to OTA to 5.02.

Hi!
I rooted my Nexus few months back from now with Fastboot recovery. I got my Android ICS update 4.0.4 last week, I tried downloading it, I downloaded it, then it said rebooting for install. But my Nexus S freezes at Google logo with my unlocked lock sign. I have tried installing it many times, but all in vein.
Please somebody help!

If you're rooted, why dont you just use the rooted method to install the update. Someone made the update flashable. Its in the development section.
either way, pull the battery to see if you still have your recovery(volume up and power button)... if so, then restore to your latest restored point, hoping that you did make a backup
Then download the newest ICS update and just flash it the rooted way.
But if you insist on the official, unroot and then get the update via stock recovery method
good luck
Are you using the latest version of CWM?
If you've got a modified system image (including root), you should not use official upgrade packages. If you want to update the rooted system, you can use unofficial packages (in CWM). To boot a system, please start your recovery and flash a proper (4.0.4, unrooted or rooted, signed or unsigned) system image. If you erase the data partition all of your data is lost!
If you have stock recovery, then only signed images can be flashed. To be able to flash unsigned images you'll need CWM, which can be flashed through fastboot.
By the way official firmware can be downloaded from Google. Important! All of your data (including USB storage area) will be lost after the full upgrade with fastboot!

[Q] Need some help to flash stock.

Okay, I'll start with the problem. After a few days I flashed the Moto G GPE Firmware using MotoTool, from the xda forums. Everything was great, but I downloaded a ROM (Paranoid Android), made a Backup, and flashed it as usual. When the phone booted, an encryption unsuccessful message popped up. I rebooted into recovery and restored my last backup. I saw in xda that the problem was probably generated by using the GPE version, so today I downloaded my stock firmware, flashed it, but the phone got stuck on the logo. Tried the same with another firmwares, and still got the same problem. I rebooted into the Bootloader, flashed TWRP, flashed the PhilZ GPE recovery, sideloaded PA again, got the same problem. Flashed CarbonROM (after doing every wipe and stuff), and got the same message. Tried CM11, didn't worked. But the problem is...
How can I correctly flash my original firmware if it's not working? I need to go back to the "normal" Moto G, so I can flash ROMs and stuff.
Bump
Please, close thread
Finally fixed it flashing the 4.4 US Retail. I was trying to flash the 4.3 US Retail, from the GPE Firmware, and it wouldn't work because the gpt.bin command always failed.
Please, close thread.

[Q] XT1033 (rooted, stock ROM) doesn't install 4.4.4 update. help?

So I got the update today, downloaded OTA, phone reboots and starts installing it, but it stops and gives an error message. I tried updating again and same thing happened. Anyone with the same problem?
I was having problems like you to get it to update. I gave up on my xt1032 and just flashed stock 4.4.2, no root. Then it installed the update without issues.
Unroot and try again... also go back to the stock recovery if by chance you aren't using that already.

People i know haven't even unlocked their bootloader
But can't update?
me too, have the same problem.
I'll just flash the 4.4.4 EU image for my XT1032...
and I'll do the same thing for when lollipop comes around
Its look like you must reset factory then direct updating your firmware..
have you unroot and relocked your bootloader?
Try restoring to stock: Flash 4.4.3, go to stock recovery and try to make the update search, if this is not working do a clean flash (wipe cache+userdata) and try to update, some time ago i noticed that cannot update the firmware of my 4.4.2 because the cmw recovery, then wiped cache and intalled stock recovery and everything went fine
To receive OTA updates device should be only on stock recovery no cmw, no twrp. Try to install stock recovery with fresh stock rom, and remember to enable any disabled system apps (if any) like Motorola services, Motorola OTA, then only you will able to receive and install updates....
You need the stock recovery

[Q] Help Req: Updating Rooted/CWM MotoG to Lollipop

Hi,
I have a UK Moto G (2013) running 4.4.4 KitKat and I installed CWM recovery and rooted it some time ago. Now they are pushing out Lollipop OTA I am getting nagged by the phone to update - but, it always fails when I try. Presumably this will be because of the CWM and/or root. I tried a full unroot but that didn't help as CWM kept complaining on the upgrade reboot about something (can't remember what now!). I've read that in order to get the OTA update to work, I have to get the phone completely back to stock, but I can't find a working stock recovery for it. Do I have to take it back to stock or not ? Either way, would anyone know how I can get the OTA update to work please ?
I've tried flashing a couple of stock recoveries, but one fails to flash at all and the other doesn't work - you choose recovery and it just reboots the phone.
At the moment it's back to rooted, unlocked bootloader and CWM recovery.
Any help you could offer would be very gratefully received.
Thanks!
Are you able to locate the phone's from here: http://www.filefactory.com/folder/c6cdedc45a775d27/?sort=filename&order=ASC&show=100&page=1
