[Q] lollipop on unlocked at&t note edge (sm-n915a) - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a question I have searched and found no answer to.
Can I install any lollipop version or any Samsung official lollipop version on a unlocked att note edge? If so where would I find the file and instructions on installing lollipop on a unlocked sm-n915a?

Imo it'd be best to wait for Samsung and AT&T to release the official lollipop update for your specific device. Unless a developer builds a custom lollipop rom for the AT&T model.
Flashing another rom from another device/carrier can easily lead to a very very expensive paper weight.

I would also suggest waiting but if you are VERY comfortable with ADB and ODIN, on the older Samsung models, you USED to be able to flash T-Mobile ROMs on the AT&T variants, but this was on my Note II...

How did you get the bootloader unlocked? SIM unlock won't let you install a custom ROM, only having the bootloader will, and so far as I have read, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I have a question on the same lines. If we insert ATnT sim temporarily in unlocked ATnT Note Edge (currently using with TMO), will it perform Android Lollipop update OTA?

It should as long as sim is provisioned properly with at&t.

[Q] Downgrade I535

Hey XDA,
I want to downgrade my verizon s3 to 4.1.2 from 4.3 in order to flash a custom rom (that isn't TW based so I can't use safestrap). I did a google search and found this link:
androidpit[ENTER DOTCOM HERE]/how-to-downgrade-galaxy-s3
I have heard that trying to downgrade will trip Knox and your phone will be bricked. So basically my question is would this work..
**also my contract is about to end, once it ends will Verizon have to unlock my boot loader?

That link had been posted in this forum before. It is for the international version of the s3. It will not work on the Verizon version and will brick your phone. You cannot downgrade the Verizon s3 from 4.3 or higher.
No, Verizon does not have to unlock your bootloader when your contract ends. They have to SIM unlock your phone so it can be used on other carriers. Wrong unlock.

Ok, well there has been a 4.4 update OTA that I haven't taken yet. I know I can easily root if I took it. Has there been any success with flashing roms on that firmware or is it the same verizon garbage and I should just stay on 4.3 because I am more likely to get a boot loader unlock/solution to this issue.
(I'm about ready to sell this phone and buy an at&t phone I have had enough with verizon's overpriced non-service.)

The 4.4.2 update is also locked down. Pretty much no chance of getting bootloader unlocked on 4.3 or 4.4. If you want to run a custom ROM, you will have to stick with 4.3 and use safestrap to run a custom 4.3 touchwiz ROM. No AOSP, and no custom kernels for you.

[Q] Few questions regarding upgrade/root from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2.

Hello.
I have Samsung Galaxy S3 SCH-I535 Verizon.
Android version 4.1.2 with MF1 baseband.
I have rooted my device + have TWRP more than a year ago.
However, I was away for more than year, and I am really lost on how to upgrade my stuffs to 4.4.2.
My OTA upgrade is not working, it just goes back to TWRP screen on reboot and I cannot proceed from there(maybe I don't know what to do).
Can anyone please give me detailed information on how to upgrade my s3 to 4.4.2?
+ How do I check if my bootloader is locked or unlocked?
Thank you so much in advance.

You have to do a factory reset in order to upgrade to 4.4.2, on 4.4.2 it's a locked bootloader with no custom recovery FYI

Sorry to step into your thread, but factory reset then take OTA Shapes? That's it?? That's too easy. Don't have to Odin or anything?? Thanks

I used the following thread to move from Jelly Beans to Kitkat.

And then used towelroot to root.
Then followed this thread for custom ROM.

[Q] Noob Question re: what rom to flash

Hi All,
Newbie here, I have a samsung s4 that has been rooted and CMW installed and I'd like to flash it back to stock. The phone was originally locked to virgin mobile Canada but I paid to get it unlocked. Do I need a ROM specific to virgin mobile to flash back to stock or will any one do as long as it's for the S4? for example I've seen ones that are for at&t, rogers, bell, etc... does it make any difference?
Reason I want to flash back to rom is to be able to get the OTA updates again and be able to upgrade to lolipop when it comes out. In fact, is there a way to re-activate OTA with out having to reflash?
thanks in advance, keep up the excellent work!

I think you are talking about unrooting. To do this you have to go to SuperSu and settings(whatever it is called). There is an option called "permanent unroot" this should takeaway your root access

Hi Kobro,
Does it matter what type of ROM I use? My phone is an s4 originally locked to Virgin Mobile Canada, does this mean I need to find specifically a Virgin Mobile Canada ROM for my s4 or will any stock ROM do as long as it's for s4? (I haven't been able to find a Virgin Mobile Canada stock ROM anywhere for the s4)
Thanks in advance!

any s4 stock rom should do the trick
however, you should try sammobile.com to seeif they have the carrier specific firmware.
After flashin with odin i suggest to use kies to control the latest version.
Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. I might wait till Lolipop is officially released for s4 before I flash back to stock. S4 Lolipop here I come!

Flash T-Mobile S7 ROM on AT&T S7

Hey XDA,
I just recently purchased a AT&T S7 (SM-G930A). I also just recently found out that AT&T doesn't push updates to non AT&T network phones. I am using the phone with T-Mobile and I was wondering if it was possible to flash the T-Mobile stock rom without tripping Knox or anything of that sort. I remember being able to do this to my AT&T Note 2 back in the day. If it is possible, can someone kindly link me to the file and instructions on how to flash the stock ROM from T-Mobile? Thanks!

DO NOT DO IT . I believe AT&T has the exynos processor and I know for a fact T-Mobile has the Snapdragon processor I'm pretty sure you will perma brick your phone. Tmobile also has a locked bootlaoder.
Just change your APN settings
Actually, I posted this in the AT&T forum as well and they said it work fine and it did. The phones are identical. The problem is that I can't go back to AT&T stock because AT&T is still on BL V2 while T-Mobile is on BL V3. I flashed anyway and it worked fine. Make sure to use Odin 3.12 from the Verizon Root Guide!
All US carrier S7's are Snapdragon based
@goofwear, All US based S7 and S7E have the Snapdragon SOC. And ALL have a LOCKED BOOTLOADER. @IbbiAnsi, you can flash just fine. Just read more about them in the threads and follow at your own risk.

Bought a used d850, got a few questions

Hi. Bought a used d850, got a few questions.
I'm running lollipop 5.0.1. Is there any way to upgrade to marshmellow without an at&t sim? If no, what's the best way to get a sim if I'm located in canada?
Secondly, how do I go about rooting this thing? How stable is the most stable marshmellow rom that exists for the phone?
Cheers.

CyanogenMod is your best bet for stability now and no you don't need a sim card. Just Google rooting 5.0.1 and once rooted your good to flash CyanogenMod 6.0, you HAVE TO FLASH 6.0 GAAPS with it as well. Google all this and you'll do well, good luck!

Got a bunch of outdated results when I googled "rooting d850 5.0.1", any chance you can link me to an up to date guide?
Also, how stable is the latest cyanogenmod 6.0 when compared to stock android 5.0.1 that I'm running right now? How stable is cyanogenmod compared to lg based roms? What's the most stable lg based rom?
Also, some other questions. Is the d850 missing any features that the other lg g3 variants have? How do I go about making those features work?
Well I'm on an lgg3 850 running CyanogenMod 6.0 it's stable. If you like stock rom then stay with stock. Not sure if you could OTA without a sim card though.

No there is not sadly. Cheapest way is a go phone sim or H2O sim if you can get ahold of one.
There's no root for MM.

Yes, just won't have the LG phone or any of the LG apps, CyanogenMod has plenty though, YouTube CyanogenMod. No there's no root for MM you'd have to flash back to Lollipop gain root then flash CyanogenMod after you root Lollipop. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3249803

Sry if im taking longer to understand this than usual, its my first time.
So if I want LG's Marshmellow, I have to get my hands on an at&t sim and that way I'll never have root access. The other way is to downgrade to kitkat, get root access, then get android 6.0 cyanogenmod/fulmics. Is that a correct understanding?
What features of lg get disabled with cyanogenmod/fulmics? Does the camera work fine? Does the battery life last as long as stock?
Also, another question i couldnt find an answer to - does my d850 have qi wireless charging? Can it get qi wireless charging?
Cheers.
